  • Encode two integers into colour values and compare them in a HLSL shader

    - by Ben Slinger
    I am writing a 2D point and click adventure game in Monogame, and I'd like to be able to create an image mask for every room which defines which parts of the background a character can walk behind, and at which Y value a character needs to be at for the background to be drawn above the character. I haven't done any shader work before but after doing some reading I thought the following solution should work: Create a mask for the room with different walk behind areas painted in a colour that defines the baseline Y value (Walk Behind Mask) Render all objects to a RenderTarget2D (Base Texture) Render all objects to a different RenderTarget2D, but changing every pixel of each object to a colour that defines its Y value (Position Mask) Pass these two textures plus the image mask into the shader, and for each pixel compare the colour of the image mask to the colour of the Position Mask to the Walk Behind Mask - if the Position Mask pixel is larger (thus lower on the screen and closer to the camera) than the Walk Behind Mask, draw the pixel from the Base Texture, otherwise draw a transparent pixel (allowing the background to show through). I've got it mostly working, but I'm having trouble packing and unpacking the Y values into colours and retrieving them correctly in the shader. Here are some code examples of how I'm doing it so far: (When drawing to the Position Mask RenderTarget2D) Color posColor = new Color(((int)Position.Y >> 16) & 255, ((int)Position.Y >> 8) & 255, (int)Position.Y & 255); So as far as I can tell, this should be taking the first 3 bytes of the position integer and encoding them into a 4 byte colour (ignoring the alpha as the 4th byte). This seems to work fine, as when my character is at Y = 600, the resulting Color from this is: {[Color: R=0, G=2, B=88, A=255, PackedValue=4283957760]}. I then have an area in my Walk Behind Mask that I only want the character to be displayed behind if his Y value is lower than 655, so I've painted it with R=0, G=2, B=143, A=255. Now, I think I have the shader OK as well, here's what I have: sampler BaseTexture : register(s0); sampler MaskTexture : register(s1); sampler PositionTexture : register(s2); float4 mask( float2 coords : TEXCOORD0 ) : COLOR0 { float4 color = tex2D(BaseTexture, coords); float4 maskColor = tex2D(MaskTexture, coords); float4 positionColor = tex2D(PositionTexture, coords); float maskCompare = (maskColor.r * pow(2,24)) + (maskColor.g * pow(2,16)) + (maskColor.b * pow(2,8)); float positionCompare = (positionColor.r * pow(2,24)) + (positionColor.g * pow(2,16)) + (positionColor.b * pow(2,8)); return positionCompare < maskCompare ? float4(0,0,0,0) : color; } technique Technique1 { pass NoEffect { PixelShader = compile ps_3_0 mask(); } } This isn't working, however - currently all characters are displayed behind the walk behind area, regardless of their Y value. I tried printing out some debug info by grabbing the pixel from both the Position Mask and the Walk Under Mask under the current mouse position, and it seems like maybe the colours aren't being rendered to the Position Mask correctly? When calculating the colour in that code above I'm getting R=0, G=2, B=88, A=255, but when I mouseover my character I get R=0, G=0, B=30, A=255. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? It seems like maybe I'm losing some information when rendering to the RenderTarget2D, but I'm now knowledgeable enough to figure out what's happening. Also, I should probably ask, is this an efficient way to do this? Will there be a performance impact? Edit: Whoops, turns out there was a bug that I'd introduced myself, I was drawing out the Position Mask with the position Color, left over from some early testing I was doing. So this solution is working perfectly, though I'm still interested in whether this is an efficient solution performance wise.

  • Automated SSRS deployment with the RS utility

    - by Stacy Vicknair
    If you’re familiar with SSRS and development you are probably aware of the SSRS web services. The RS utility is a tool that comes with SSRS that allows for scripts to be executed against against the SSRS web service without needing to create an application to consume the service. One of the better benefits of using this format rather than writing an application is that the script can be modified by others who might be involved in the creation and addition of scripts or management of the SSRS environment.   Reporting Services Scripter Jasper Smith from http://www.sqldbatips.com created Reporting Services Scripter to assist with the created of a batch process to deploy an entire SSRS environment. The helper scripts below were created through the modification of his generated scripts. Why not just use this tool? You certainly can. For me, the volume of scripts generated seems less maintainable than just using some common methods extracted from these scripts and creating a deployment in a single script file. I would, however, recommend this as a product if you do not think that your environment will change drastically or if you do not need to deploy with a higher level of control over the deployment. If you just need to replicate, this tool works great. Executing with RS.exe Executing a script against rs.exe is fairly simple. The Script Half the battle is having a starting point. For the scripting I needed to do the below is the starter script. A few notes: This script assumes integrated security. This script assumes your reports have one data source each. Both of the above are just what made sense for my scenario and are definitely modifiable to accommodate your needs. If you are unsure how to change the scripts to your needs, I recommend Reporting Services Scripter to help you understand how the differences. The script has three main methods: CreateFolder, CreateDataSource and CreateReport. Scripting the server deployment is just a process of recreating all of the elements that you need through calls to these methods. If there are additional elements that you need to deploy that aren’t covered by these methods, again I suggest using Reporting Services Scripter to get the code you would need, convert it to a repeatable method and add it to this script! Public Sub Main() CreateFolder("/", "Data Sources") CreateFolder("/", "My Reports") CreateDataSource("/Data Sources", "myDataSource", _ "Data Source=server\instance;Initial Catalog=myDatabase") CreateReport("/My Reports", _ "MyReport", _ "C:\myreport.rdl", _ True, _ "/Data Sources", _ "myDataSource") End Sub   Public Sub CreateFolder(parent As String, name As String) Dim fullpath As String = GetFullPath(parent, name) Try RS.CreateFolder(name, parent, GetCommonProperties()) Console.WriteLine("Folder created: {0}", name) Catch e As SoapException If e.Detail.Item("ErrorCode").InnerText = "rsItemAlreadyExists" Then Console.WriteLine("Folder {0} already exists and cannot be overwritten", fullpath) Else Console.WriteLine("Error : " + e.Detail.Item("ErrorCode").InnerText + " (" + e.Detail.Item("Message").InnerText + ")") End If End Try End Sub   Public Sub CreateDataSource(parent As String, name As String, connectionString As String) Try RS.CreateDataSource(name, parent,False, GetDataSourceDefinition(connectionString), GetCommonProperties()) Console.WriteLine("DataSource {0} created successfully", name) Catch e As SoapException Console.WriteLine("Error : " + e.Detail.Item("ErrorCode").InnerText + " (" + e.Detail.Item("Message").InnerText + ")") End Try End Sub   Public Sub CreateReport(parent As String, name As String, location As String, overwrite As Boolean, dataSourcePath As String, dataSourceName As String) Dim reportContents As Byte() = Nothing Dim warnings As Warning() = Nothing Dim fullpath As String = GetFullPath(parent, name)   'Read RDL definition from disk Try Dim stream As FileStream = File.OpenRead(location) reportContents = New [Byte](stream.Length-1) {} stream.Read(reportContents, 0, CInt(stream.Length)) stream.Close()   warnings = RS.CreateReport(name, parent, overwrite, reportContents, GetCommonProperties())   If Not (warnings Is Nothing) Then Dim warning As Warning For Each warning In warnings Console.WriteLine(Warning.Message) Next warning Else Console.WriteLine("Report: {0} published successfully with no warnings", name) End If   'Set report DataSource references Dim dataSources(0) As DataSource   Dim dsr0 As New DataSourceReference dsr0.Reference = dataSourcePath Dim ds0 As New DataSource ds0.Item = CType(dsr0, DataSourceDefinitionOrReference) ds0.Name=dataSourceName dataSources(0) = ds0     RS.SetItemDataSources(fullpath, dataSources)   Console.Writeline("Report DataSources set successfully")       Catch e As IOException Console.WriteLine(e.Message) Catch e As SoapException Console.WriteLine("Error : " + e.Detail.Item("ErrorCode").InnerText + " (" + e.Detail.Item("Message").InnerText + ")") End Try End Sub     Public Function GetCommonProperties() As [Property]() 'Common CatalogItem properties Dim descprop As New [Property] descprop.Name = "Description" descprop.Value = "" Dim hiddenprop As New [Property] hiddenprop.Name = "Hidden" hiddenprop.Value = "False"   Dim props(1) As [Property] props(0) = descprop props(1) = hiddenprop Return props End Function   Public Function GetDataSourceDefinition(connectionString as String) Dim definition As New DataSourceDefinition definition.CredentialRetrieval = CredentialRetrievalEnum.Integrated definition.ConnectString = connectionString definition.Enabled = True definition.EnabledSpecified = True definition.Extension = "SQL" definition.ImpersonateUser = False definition.ImpersonateUserSpecified = True definition.Prompt = "Enter a user name and password to access the data source:" definition.WindowsCredentials = False definition.OriginalConnectStringExpressionBased = False definition.UseOriginalConnectString = False Return definition End Function   Private Function GetFullPath(parent As String, name As String) As String If parent = "/" Then Return parent + name Else Return parent + "/" + name End If End Function

  • RPi and Java Embedded GPIO: Sensor Reading using Java Code

    - by hinkmond
    And, now to program the Java code for reading the fancy-schmancy static electricity sensor connected to your Raspberry Pi, here is the source code we'll use: First, we need to initialize ourselves... /* * Java Embedded Raspberry Pi GPIO Input app */ package jerpigpioinput; import java.io.FileWriter; import java.io.RandomAccessFile; import java.text.DateFormat; import java.text.SimpleDateFormat; import java.util.Calendar; /** * * @author hinkmond */ public class JerpiGPIOInput { static final String GPIO_IN = "in"; // Add which GPIO ports to read here static String[] GpioChannels = { "7" }; /** * @param args the command line arguments */ public static void main(String[] args) { try { /*** Init GPIO port(s) for input ***/ // Open file handles to GPIO port unexport and export controls FileWriter unexportFile = new FileWriter("/sys/class/gpio/unexport"); FileWriter exportFile = new FileWriter("/sys/class/gpio/export"); for (String gpioChannel : GpioChannels) { System.out.println(gpioChannel); // Reset the port unexportFile.write(gpioChannel); unexportFile.flush(); // Set the port for use exportFile.write(gpioChannel); exportFile.flush(); // Open file handle to input/output direction control of port FileWriter directionFile = new FileWriter("/sys/class/gpio/gpio" + gpioChannel + "/direction"); // Set port for input directionFile.write(GPIO_IN); directionFile.flush(); } And, next we will open up a RandomAccessFile pointer to the GPIO port. /*** Read data from each GPIO port ***/ RandomAccessFile[] raf = new RandomAccessFile[GpioChannels.length]; int sleepPeriod = 10; final int MAXBUF = 256; byte[] inBytes = new byte[MAXBUF]; String inLine; int zeroCounter = 0; // Get current timestamp with Calendar() Calendar cal; DateFormat dateFormat = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy/MM/dd HH:mm:ss.SSS"); String dateStr; // Open RandomAccessFile handle to each GPIO port for (int channum=0; channum Then, loop forever to read in the values to the console. // Loop forever while (true) { // Get current timestamp for latest event cal = Calendar.getInstance(); dateStr = dateFormat.format(cal.getTime()); // Use RandomAccessFile handle to read in GPIO port value for (int channum=0; channum Rinse, lather, and repeat... Compile this Java code on your host PC or Mac with javac from the JDK. Copy over the JAR or class file to your Raspberry Pi, "sudo -i" to become root, then start up this Java app in a shell on your RPi. That's it! You should see a "1" value get logged each time you bring a statically charged item (like a balloon you rub on the cat) near the antenna of the sensor. There you go. You've just seen how Java Embedded technology on the Raspberry Pi is an easy way to access sensors. Hinkmond

  • Detect Unicode Usage in SQL Column

    One optimization you can make to a SQL table that is overly large is to change from nvarchar (or nchar) to varchar (or char).  Doing so will cut the size used by the data in half, from 2 bytes per character (+ 2 bytes of overhead for varchar) to only 1 byte per character.  However, you will lose the ability to store Unicode characters, such as those used by many non-English alphabets.  If the tables are storing user-input, and your application is or might one day be used internationally, its likely that using Unicode for your characters is a good thing.  However, if instead the data is being generated by your application itself or your development team (such as lookup data), and you can be certain that Unicode character sets are not required, then switching such columns to varchar/char can be an easy improvement to make. Avoid Premature Optimization If you are working with a lookup table that has a small number of rows, and is only ever referenced in the application by its numeric ID column, then you wont see any benefit to using varchar vs. nvarchar.  More generally, for small tables, you wont see any significant benefit.  Thus, if you have a general policy in place to use nvarchar/nchar because it offers more flexibility, do not take this post as a recommendation to go against this policy anywhere you can.  You really only want to act on measurable evidence that suggests that using Unicode is resulting in a problem, and that you wont lose anything by switching to varchar/char. Obviously the main reason to make this change is to reduce the amount of space required by each row.  This in turn affects how many rows SQL Server can page through at a time, and can also impact index size and how much disk I/O is required to respond to queries, etc.  If for example you have a table with 100 million records in it and this table has a column of type nchar(5), this column will use 5 * 2 = 10 bytes per row, and with 100M rows that works out to 10 bytes * 100 million = 1000 MBytes or 1GB.  If it turns out that this column only ever stores ASCII characters, then changing it to char(5) would reduce this to 5*1 = 5 bytes per row, and only 500MB.  Of course, if it turns out that it only ever stores the values true and false then you could go further and replace it with a bit data type which uses only 1 byte per row (100MB  total). Detecting Whether Unicode Is In Use So by now you think that you have a problem and that it might be alleviated by switching some columns from nvarchar/nchar to varchar/char but youre not sure whether youre currently using Unicode in these columns.  By definition, you should only be thinking about this for a column that has a lot of rows in it, since the benefits just arent there for a small table, so you cant just eyeball it and look for any non-ASCII characters.  Instead, you need a query.  Its actually very simple: SELECT DISTINCT(CategoryName)FROM CategoriesWHERE CategoryName <> CONVERT(varchar, CategoryName) Summary Gregg Stark for the tip. • Appropriate design / technologies to handle dynamic string formatting?

    - by Mark W
    recently I was tasked with implementing a way of adding support for versioning of hardware packet specifications to one of our libraries. First a bit of information about the project. We have a hardware library which has classes for each of the various commands we support sending to our hardware. These hardware modules are essentially just lights with a few buttons, and a 2 or 4 digit display. The packets typically follow the format {SOH}AADD{ETX}, where AA is our sentinel action code, and DD is the device ID. These packet specs are different from one command to the next obviously, and the different firmware versions we have support different specifications. For example, on version 1 an action code of 14 may have a spec of {SOH}AADDTEXT{ETX} which would be AA = 14 literal, DD = device ID, TEXT = literal text to display on the device. Then we come out with a revision with adds an extended byte(s) onto the end of the packet like this {SOH}AADDTEXTE{ETX}. Assume the TEXT field is fixed width for this example. We have now added a new field onto the end which could be used to say specify the color or flash rate of the text/buttons. Currently this java library only supports one version of the commands, the latest. In our hardware library we would have a class for this command, say a DisplayTextArgs.java. That class would have fields for the device ID, the text, and the extended byte. The command class would expose a method which generates the string ("{SOH}AADDTEXTE{ETX}") using the value from the class. In practice we would create the Args class as needed, populate the fields, call the method to get our packet string, then ship that down across the CAN. Some of our other commands specification can vary for the same command, on the same version, depending on some runtime state. For example, another command for version 1 may be {SOH}AA{ETX}, where this action code clears all of the modules behind a specific controller device of their text. We may overload this packet to have option fields with multiple meanings like {SOH}AAOC{ETX} where OC is literal text, which tells the controller to only clear text on a specific module type, and to leave the others alone, or the spec could also have an option format of {SOH}AADD{ETX} to clear the text off a a specific device. Currently, in the method which generates the packet string, we would evaluate fields on the args class to determine which spec we will be using when formatting the packet. For this example, it would be along the lines of: if m_DeviceID != null then use {SOH}AADD{ETX} else if m_ClearOCs == true then use {SOH}AAOC{EXT} else use {SOH}AA{ETX} I had considered using XML, or a database to store String.format format strings, which were linked to firmware version numbers in some table. We would load them up at startup, and pass in the version number of the hardwares firmware we are currently using (I can query the devices for their firmware version, but the version is not included in all packets as part of the spec). This breaks down pretty quickly because of the dynamic nature of how we select which version of the command to use. I then considered using a rule engine to possibly build out expressions which could be interpreted at runtume, to evaluate the args class's state, and from that select the appropriate format string to use, but my brief look at rule engines for java scared me away with its complexity. While it seems like it might be a viable solution, it seems overly complex. So this is why I am here. I wouldn't say design is my strongest skill, and im having trouble figuring out the best way to approach this problem. I probably wont be able to radically change the args classes, but if the trade off was good enough, I may be able to convince my boss that the change is appropriate. What I would like from the community is some feedback on some best practices / design methodologies / API or other resources which I could use to accomplish: Logic to determine which set of commands to use for a given firmware version Of those command, which version of each command to use (based on the args classes state) Keep the rules logic decoupled from the application so as to avoid needing releases for every firmware version Be simple enough so I don't need weeks of study and trial and error to implement effectively.

  • Play audio file data - Spring MVC

    - by Vijay Veeraraghavan
    In my web-application, I have various audio clips uploaded by the users in the database stored in the BLOB column. The audio files are low bit rate WAV files. The clips are secured, one can see only those clips he has uploaded. Instead of user downloading the clip and playing it in his player, I need it be steamed online in the web page itself. In the jsp I use the <audio> tag with the source mapping to the controller mappping url. <td> <audio controls><source src="recfile/${au.id}" type="audio/mpeg" /></audio> </td> Where, the recfile is the request mapping and the au.id is the audio id. In the controller I process the request like below @RequestMapping(value = "/recfile/{id}", method = RequestMethod.GET, produces = { MediaType.APPLICATION_OCTET_STREAM_VALUE }) public HttpEntity<byte[]> downloadRecipientFile(@PathVariable("id") int id, ModelMap model, HttpServletResponse response) throws IOException, ServletException { LOGGER.debug("[GroupListController downloadRecipientFile]"); VoiceAudioLibrary dGroup = audioClipService.findAudioClip(id); if (dGroup == null || dGroup.getAudioData() == null || dGroup.getAudioData().length <= 0) { throw new ServletException("No clip found/clip has not data, id=" + id); } HttpHeaders header = new HttpHeaders(); I tried this too //header.setContentType(new MediaType("audio", "mp3")); header.setContentType(new MediaType("audio", "vnd.wave"); header.setContentLength(dGroup.getAudioData().length); return new HttpEntity<byte[]>(dGroup.getAudioData(), header); } When the jsp loads, the controller get the request, it serves back the audio data fetched from the database, the jsp too shows the player with the controls. But when I play it nothing happens. Why is it? Am I missing anything in the configuration? Am I doing it right?

  • Visual Studio 2010 is asking to convert RDLC created on VS2008 to RDLC 2008 format?

    I've created my project on Visual Studio 2008, as well RDLC files on it. But now, when I open the solution on Visual Studio 2010 and want to open RDLC file, it's showing me a warning. That's a little funny. The report was created on VS2008 and VS2010 is asking to convert to 2008 format. Perhaps there was a problem on my VS2008 installation that created RDLC files using some ancient format (2005??!) The problem is, when you confirm with Ok button, do some design ajustments and run the app, it throws an error on 'Main report': ex.InnerException {"The definition of the report 'Main Report' is invalid."} [Microsoft.Reporting.DefinitionInvalidException]: {"The definition of the report 'Main Report' is invalid."} Data: {System.Collections.ListDictionaryInternal} HelpLink: null InnerException: {"The report definition is not valid. • Greyscale Image from YUV420p data

    - by fergs
    From what I have read on the internet the Y value is the luminance value and can be used to create a grey scale image. The following link: http://www.bobpowell.net/grayscale.htm, has some C# code on working out the luminance of a bitmap image : { Bitmap bm = new Bitmap(source.Width,source.Height); for(int y=0;y<bm.Height;y++) public Bitmap ConvertToGrayscale(Bitmap source) { for(int x=0;x<bm.Width;x++) { Color c=source.GetPixel(x,y); int luma = (int)(c.R*0.3 + c.G*0.59+ c.B*0.11); bm.SetPixel(x,y,Color.FromArgb(luma,luma,luma)); } } return bm; } I have a method that returns the YUV values and have the Y data in a byte array. I have the current piece of code and it is failing on Marshal.Copy – attempted to read or write protected memory. public Bitmap ConvertToGrayscale2(byte[] yuvData, int width, int height) { Bitmap bmp; IntPtr blue = IntPtr.Zero; int inputOffSet = 0; long[] pixels = new long[width * height]; try { for (int y = 0; y < height; y++) { int outputOffSet = y * width; for (int x = 0; x < width; x++) { int grey = yuvData[inputOffSet + x] & 0xff; unchecked { pixels[outputOffSet + x] = UINT_Constant | (grey * INT_Constant); } } inputOffSet += width; } blue = Marshal.AllocCoTaskMem(pixels.Length); Marshal.Copy(pixels, 0, blue, pixels.Length); // fails here : Attempted to read or write protected memory bmp = new Bitmap(width, height, width, PixelFormat.Format24bppRgb, blue); } catch (Exception) { throw; } finally { if (blue != IntPtr.Zero) { Marshal.FreeHGlobal(blue); blue = IntPtr.Zero; } } return bmp; } Any help would be appreciated?

  • Unable to validate data. at System.Web.Configuration.MachineKeySection.GetDecodedData

    - by Ben Williams
    I have several websites which get approximately 3000 pageviews in total per day, and I get this viewstate error roughly 5-10 times per day, caught in global.asax: System.Web.HttpException: Unable to validate data. at System.Web.Configuration.MachineKeySection.GetDecodedData(Byte[] buf, Byte[] modifier, Int32 start, Int32 length, Int32& dataLength) at System.Web.UI.ObjectStateFormatter.Deserialize(String inputString) I have tried: hard-coding the machine key in web.config for all websites hard-coding the machien key in machine.config adding items to the pages section of the web.config for all websites. Machine key looks like: <machineKey validationKey="key goes here" decryptionKey="key goes here" validation="SHA1" decryption="AES" /> Pages section looks like: <pages renderAllHiddenFieldsAtTopOfForm="true" validateRequest="false" enableEventValidation="false" viewStateEncryptionMode="Never"> The errors are not related to application pool recycling as best I can tell, as the pool is set to recycle at every 100,000 requests. I am not running a web farm or web garden. Quite often I get two or three of these errors in a row, as if a user is getting an error, going back, and then clicking the link again. Anyone have any ideas?

  • SPP Socket createRfcommSocketToServiceRecord will not connect

    - by philDev
    Hello, I want to use Android 2.1 to connect to an external Bluetooth device, wich is offering an SPP port to me. In this case it is an external GPS unit. When I'm trying to connect I can't connect an established socket while being in the "client" mode. Then if I try to set up a socket (being in the server role), to RECEIVE text from my PC everything works just fine. The Computer can connect as the client to the Socket on the Phone via SPP using the SSP UUID or some random UUID. So the Problem is not that I'm using the wrong UUID. But the other way around (e.g. calling connect on the established client socket) createRfcommSocketToServiceRecord(UUID uuid)) just doesn't work. Sadly I don't have the time to inspect the problem further. It would be greate If somebody could point me the right way. In the following part of the Logfile has to be the Problem. Greets PhilDev P.S. I'm going to be present during the Office hours. • RSACryptoServiceProvider CryptographicException System Cannot Find the File Specified under ASP.NET

    - by Will Hughes
    I have an application which is making use of the RSACryptoServiceProvider to decrypt some data using a known private key (stored in a variable). When the IIS Application Pool is configured to use Network Service, everything runs fine. However, when we configure the IIS Application Pool to run the code under a different Identity, we get the following: System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException: The system cannot find the file specified. at System.Security.Cryptography.Utils.CreateProvHandle(CspParameters parameters, Boolean randomKeyContainer) at System.Security.Cryptography.RSACryptoServiceProvider.ImportParameters(RSAParameters parameters) at System.Security.Cryptography.RSA.FromXmlString(String xmlString) The code is something like this: byte[] input; byte[] output; string private_key_xml; var provider = new System.Cryptography.RSACryptoServiceProvider(this.m_key.Key_Size); provider.FromXmlString(private_key_xml); // Fails Here when Application Pool Identity != Network Service ouput = provider.Decrypt(input, false); // False = Use PKCS#1 v1.5 Padding There are resources which attempt to answer it by stating that you should give the user read access to the machine key store - however there is no definitive answer to solve this issue. Environment: IIS 6.0, Windows Server 2003 R2, .NET 3.5 SP1

  • Uncompress GZIPed HTTP Response in Java

    - by bill0ute
    Hi, I'm trying to uncompress a GZIPed HTTP Response by using GZIPInputStream. However I always have the same exception when I try to read the stream : java.util.zip.ZipException: invalid bit length repeat My HTTP Request Header: GET www.myurl.com HTTP/1.0\r\n User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; fr; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6\r\n Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8\r\n Accept-Language: fr,fr-fr;q=0.8,en-us;q=0.5,en;q=0.3\r\n Accept-Encoding: gzip,deflate\r\n Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,UTF-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7\r\n Keep-Alive: 115\r\n Connection: keep-alive\r\n X-Requested-With: XMLHttpRequest\r\n Cookie: Some Cookies\r\n\r\n At the end of the HTTP Response header, I get path=/Content-Encoding: gzip, followed by the gziped response. I tried 2 similars codes to uncompress : GZIPInputStream gzip = new GZIPInputStream (new ByteArrayInputStream (tBytes)); StringBuffer szBuffer = new StringBuffer (); byte tByte [] = new byte [1024]; while (true) { int iLength = gzip.read (tByte, 0, 1024); // <-- Error comes here if (iLength < 0) break; szBuffer.append (new String (tByte, 0, iLength)); } And this one that I get on this forum : InputStream gzipStream = new GZIPInputStream (new ByteArrayInputStream (tBytes)); Reader decoder = new InputStreamReader (gzipStream, "UTF-8");//<- I tried ISO-8859-1 and get the same exception BufferedReader buffered = new BufferedReader (decoder); I guess this is an encoding error. • Using the Rijndael Object in VB.NET

    - by broke
    I'm trying out the Rijndael to generate an encrypted license string to use for our new software, so we know that our customers are using the same amount of apps that they paid for. I'm doing two things: Getting the users computer name. Adding a random number between 100 and 1000000000 I then combine the two, and use that as the license number(This probably will change in the final version, but I'm just doing something simple for demonstration purposes). Here is some sample codez: Private Sub Main_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim generator As New Random Dim randomValue As Integer randomValue = generator.Next(100, 1000000000) ' Create a new Rijndael object to generate a key ' and initialization vector (IV). Dim RijndaelAlg As Rijndael = Rijndael.Create ' Create a string to encrypt. Dim sData As String = My.Computer.Name.ToString + randomValue.ToString Dim FileName As String = "C:\key.txt" ' Encrypt text to a file using the file name, key, and IV. EncryptTextToFile(sData, FileName, RijndaelAlg.Key, RijndaelAlg.IV) ' Decrypt the text from a file using the file name, key, and IV. Dim Final As String = DecryptTextFromFile(FileName, RijndaelAlg.Key, RijndaelAlg.IV) txtDecrypted.Text = Final End Sub That's my load event, but here is where the magic happens: Sub EncryptTextToFile(ByVal Data As String, ByVal FileName As String, ByVal Key() As Byte, ByVal IV() As Byte) Dim fStream As FileStream = File.Open(FileName, FileMode.OpenOrCreate) Dim RijndaelAlg As Rijndael = Rijndael.Create Dim cStream As New CryptoStream(fStream, _ RijndaelAlg.CreateEncryptor(Key, IV), _ CryptoStreamMode.Write) Dim sWriter As New StreamWriter(cStream) sWriter.WriteLine(Data) sWriter.Close() cStream.Close() fStream.Close() End Sub There is a couple things I don't understand. What if someone reads the text file and recognizes that it is Rijndael, and writes a VB or C# app that decrypts it? I don't really understand all of this code, so if you guys can help me out I will love you all forever. Thanks in advance

  • Why does this silverlight code get a "catastrophic failure" when reading a BitmapImage out of Isolat

    - by Edward Tanguay
    In a Silverlight app, I save a Bitmap like this: public static void SaveBitmapImageToIsolatedStorageFile(OpenReadCompletedEventArgs e, string fileName) { using (IsolatedStorageFile isf = IsolatedStorageFile.GetUserStoreForApplication()) { using (IsolatedStorageFileStream isfs = new IsolatedStorageFileStream(fileName, FileMode.Create, isf)) { Int64 imgLen = (Int64)e.Result.Length; byte[] b = new byte[imgLen]; e.Result.Read(b, 0, b.Length); isfs.Write(b, 0, b.Length); isfs.Flush(); isfs.Close(); isf.Dispose(); } } } and read it back out like this: public static BitmapImage LoadBitmapImageFromIsolatedStorageFile(string fileName) { string text = String.Empty; using (IsolatedStorageFile isf = IsolatedStorageFile.GetUserStoreForApplication()) { if (!isf.FileExists(fileName)) return null; using (IsolatedStorageFile isoStore = IsolatedStorageFile.GetUserStoreForApplication()) { using (IsolatedStorageFileStream isoStream = isoStore.OpenFile(fileName, FileMode.Open)) { BitmapImage bitmapImage = new BitmapImage(); bitmapImage.SetSource(isoStream); return bitmapImage; // "Catastrophic Failure: HRESULT: 0x8000FFFF (E_UNEXPECTED))" } } } } but this always gives me a "Catastrophic Failure: HRESULT: 0x8000FFFF (E_UNEXPECTED))" error. I've seen this error before when I tried to read a png file* off a server which was actually a **text file, so I assume the Bitmap is not being saved correctly, I got the code here. Can anyone see how the BitmapImage is not being saved correctly? Or why it would be giving me this error?

  • c# How to Verify Signature, Loading PUBLIC KEY From PEM file?

    - by bbirtle
    I'm posting this in the hope it saves somebody else the hours I lost on this really stupid problem involving converting formats of public keys. If anybody sees a simpler solution or a problem, please let me know! The eCommerce system I'm using sends me some data along with a signature. They also give me their public key in .pem format. The .pem file looks like this: -----BEGIN PUBLIC KEY----- MIGfMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBAQUAA4GNADCBiQKBgQDe+hkicNP7ROHUssGNtHwiT2Ew HFrSk/qwrcq8v5metRtTTFPE/nmzSkRnTs3GMpi57rBdxBBJW5W9cpNyGUh0jNXc VrOSClpD5Ri2hER/GcNrxVRP7RlWOqB1C03q4QYmwjHZ+zlM4OUhCCAtSWflB4wC Ka1g88CjFwRw/PB9kwIDAQAB -----END PUBLIC KEY----- Here's the magic code to turn the above into an "RSACryptoServiceProvider" which is capable of verifying the signature. Uses the BouncyCastle library, since .NET apparently (and appallingly cannot do it without some major headaches involving certificate files): RSACryptoServiceProvider thingee; using (var reader = File.OpenText(@"c:\pemfile.pem")) { var x = new PemReader(reader); var y = (RsaKeyParameters)x.ReadObject(); thingee = (RSACryptoServiceProvider)RSACryptoServiceProvider.Create(); var pa = new RSAParameters(); pa.Modulus = y.Modulus.ToByteArray(); pa.Exponent = y.Exponent.ToByteArray(); thingee.ImportParameters(pa); } And then the code to actually verify the signature: var signature = ... //reads from the packet sent by the eCommerce system var data = ... //reads from the packet sent by the eCommerce system var sha = new SHA1CryptoServiceProvider(); byte[] hash = sha.ComputeHash(Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(data)); byte[] bSignature = Convert.FromBase64String(signature); ///Verify signature, FINALLY: var hasValidSig = thingee.VerifyHash(hash, CryptoConfig.MapNameToOID("SHA1"), bSignature);

  • Load richtextbox from memorystream. WPF/VB>NET

I have some data in a database table stored as a byte array, I convert it to a string and load it into a memorystream and then I want to load that memory stream in the richtextbox. The application breaks on Dim tr As New TextRange(rtbTemplate.Document.ContentStart, rtbTemplate.Document.ContentEnd) though. Code for getting the data from the database Dim TemplateData As Byte() = TemplateDataTableInstance.Rows(0).Item("TemplateData") Dim strTemplateData As String Dim enc As New System.Text.UTF8Encoding() strTemplateData = enc.GetString(TemplateData) ' I put a messagebox here to check if I get the data I want and I do Now, how do I sort out the rest? I have Dim strDataFormat As String = DataFormats.Rtf Using ms As New MemoryStream(strTemplateData) Dim tr As New TextRange(rtbTemplate.Document.ContentStart, rtbTemplate.Document.ContentEnd) tr.Load(ms, strDataFormat) End Using and my richtextbox in xaml <RichTextBox x:Name="rtbLetter"> <RichTextBox.Resources> <Style TargetType="{x:Type Paragraph}"> <Setter Property="Margin" Value="0"/> </Style> </RichTextBox.Resources> <FlowDocument FontSize="12" FontFamily="Times New Roman"> </FlowDocument> </RichTextBox> Any help is appreciated.

  • Serialization of Queue type- Serialization not working; C#

    - by Soham
    Hi All, Consider this piece of code: private Queue Date=new Queue(); //other declarations public DateTime _Date { get { return (DateTime)Date.Peek();} set { Date.Enqueue(value); } } //other properties and stuff.... public void UpdatePosition(...) { //other code IFormatter formatter = new BinaryFormatter(); Stream Datestream = new MemoryStream(); formatter.Serialize(Datestream, Date); byte[] Datebin = new byte[2048]; Datestream.Read(Datebin,0,2048); //Debug-Bug Console.WriteLine(Convert.ToString(this._Date)); Console.WriteLine(BitConverter.ToString(Datebin, 0, 3)); //other code } The output of the first writeline is perfect. I.e to check if really the Queue is initialised or not. It is. The right variables are stored and et. all [I inserted a value in that Q, that part of the code is not shown] But the second writeline is not giving the right expected answer: It serializes the entire Queue to 00-00-00. Want some serious help! Soham

  • Draw Bitmap with alpha channel

    - by Paja
    I have a Format32bppArgb backbuffer, where I draw some lines: var g = Graphics.FromImage(bitmap); g.Clear(Color.FromArgb(0)); var rnd = new Random(); for (int i = 0; i < 5000; i++) { int x1 = rnd.Next(ClientRectangle.Left, ClientRectangle.Right); int y1 = rnd.Next(ClientRectangle.Top, ClientRectangle.Bottom); int x2 = rnd.Next(ClientRectangle.Left, ClientRectangle.Right); int y2 = rnd.Next(ClientRectangle.Top, ClientRectangle.Bottom); Color color = Color.FromArgb(rnd.Next(0, 255), rnd.Next(0, 255), rnd.Next(0, 255)); g.DrawLine(new Pen(color), x1, y1, x2, y2); } Now I want to copy bitmap in Paint event. I do it like this: void Form1Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e) { e.Graphics.DrawImageUnscaled(bitmap, 0, 0); } Hovewer, the DrawImageUnscaled copies pixels and applies the alpha channel, thus pixels with alpha == 0 won't have any effect. But I need raw byte copy, so pixels with alpha == 0 are also copied. So the result of these operations should be that e.Graphics contains exact byte-copy of the bitmap. How to do that? Summary: When drawing a bitmap, I don't want to apply the alpha channel, I merely want to copy the pixels.

  • Instantiating a list of parameterized types, making beter use of Generics and Linq

    - by DanO
    I'm hashing a file with one or more hash algorithms. When I tried to parametrize which hash types I want, it got a lot messier than I was hoping. I think I'm missing a chance to make better use of generics or LINQ. I also don't like that I have to use a Type[] as the parameter instead of limiting it to a more specific set of type (HashAlgorithm descendants), I'd like to specify types as the parameter and let this method do the constructing, but maybe this would look better if I had the caller new-up instances of HashAlgorithm to pass in? public List<string> ComputeMultipleHashesOnFile(string filename, Type[] hashClassTypes) { var hashClassInstances = new List<HashAlgorithm>(); var cryptoStreams = new List<CryptoStream>(); FileStream fs = File.OpenRead(filename); Stream cryptoStream = fs; foreach (var hashClassType in hashClassTypes) { object obj = Activator.CreateInstance(hashClassType); var cs = new CryptoStream(cryptoStream, (HashAlgorithm)obj, CryptoStreamMode.Read); hashClassInstances.Add((HashAlgorithm)obj); cryptoStreams.Add(cs); cryptoStream = cs; } CryptoStream cs1 = cryptoStreams.Last(); byte[] scratch = new byte[1 << 16]; int bytesRead; do { bytesRead = cs1.Read(scratch, 0, scratch.Length); } while (bytesRead > 0); foreach (var stream in cryptoStreams) { stream.Close(); } foreach (var hashClassInstance in hashClassInstances) { Console.WriteLine("{0} hash = {1}", hashClassInstance.ToString(), HexStr(hashClassInstance.Hash).ToLower()); } }

  • Tiff Analyzer

    - by Kevin
    I am writing a program to convert some data, mainly a bunch of Tiff images. Some of the Tiffs seems to have a minor problem with them. They show up fine in some viewers (Irfanview, client's old system) but not in others (Client's new system, Window's picture and fax viewer). I have manually looked at the binary data and all the tags seem ok. Can anyone recommend an app that can analyze it and tell me what, if anything, is wrong with it? Also, for clarity sake, I'm only converting the data about the images which is stored seperately in a database and copying the images, I'm not editting the images myself, so I'm pretty sure I'm not messing them up.
