  I want to execute this custom command on a file from the Gnome File Browser: hexdump -C $f > $f.dump That would create a hexdump of the file with the file's name + .dump in the directory that the file exists in. When I say $f above I mean something that would substitute the name of the file that was opened. So I've tried "Open with", "Use a custom command". I can't get it to work. I've tried a number of symbols in place of $f. Is it even possible? Before you suggest getting a GUI hexdump program, this is just one example. I have the need to do this sort of thing for many terminal-type programs. Am I the only person on Earth who wishes for a hybrid File-Browser-slash-Command-Terminal? That would be a file browser which contained a terminal pane who's current directory always matched that of the file browser. One could execute shell commands in the context of what they were viewing in the browser.

  In Ubuntu 12.04 LTS I installed the Eclipse CDT plugin and opened the new hello world project to just test everything out. When I was creating the project, I chose the only toolchain: "Linux GCC" When the project is created, however, it says that #include<iostream> #include<cstdlb> are unresolved. Thus, lines with cout and endl can't be used and it cannot find std. using namespace std; is also causing problems. How can I get my #include directives for standard library headers recognized, to support code using the std namespace?

  I have an application that was built with MVC1 and am in the process of updating to MVC2. I have a custom DLL and BLL, of which the model objects are custom business objects that reside in a separate class library. I was using this validation library in MVC1, which worked great. It worked great, but I want to eliminate the extra plugins and use what is available. Rather than use the Enterprise Library validation attributes I have converted to using DataAnnotations and want to use jQuery validation as the client side validation. My questions are: 1) Is the MicrosoftMvcJQueryValidation JS file still required, where do I download. 2) How to you automate the validation to views that do not have models, IE Membership sign in page? 3) How to you add model errors in a custom business layer.   When custom class loader in webapp context file is used and the context is being initialized and started, the custom classloader is just a substitution for the default webapp class loader, right ? But what are the consequences of doing this? Because, for instance, in Liferay portal an application can use custom PortalClassLoader, which just extends webapp class loader and does nothing else, it's the same class, no modifications at all. And I didn't find any following initializations like repository location changes etc. The point is, that the PortalClassLoader provides the webapp with an access to the ROOT portal context, which AFAIK doesn't use PortalClassLoader, according to debugger.

• Display custom error page when file upload exceeds allowed size in ASP.NET MVC2

  Hello! My main issue is that I want to display an custom error page when an uploaded file exceeds allowed size (maxRequestLength in web.config). When the big file is uploaded an HttpException is thrown before my upload action method in the controller is invoked. This is expected. I have tried to catch the exception in a custom attribute and also to override OnException in the controller. Why isnt it possible to catch the exception in either the attribute or the OnException method? Its possible though to catch the exception in Application_Error in global.asax but neither Response.Redirect nor Server.Transfer works for redirecting to the custom error page. Server.Transfer gives the "failed to process child request" error and response.redirect gives the "Http headers already sent" error. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Marcus

A column is defined as follows: <columnDefinition name="Account" type="string" length="72" primaryKey="yes" modularize="property" category="formatted" description="..." /> This column contains values like "[Property]". When the custom action reads this column like this: hr = WcaGetRecordString(hRecCertificate, vcpqAccount, &pwzTemp); it get's the string "[Property]". But I need "PropertyValue".   I have some custom validation that I need to perform that involves checking the selected option of a dropdown and flagging it as invalid should the user select a specific option. I am using ASP.NET MVC 2 and have a custom Validator and custom server side and client side validation rules as described in this blog article. The server side validation is working fine, however, the client side validation is failing. Here is the javascript validation rule: Sys.Mvc.ValidatorRegistry.validators["badValue"] = function(rule) { var badValue = rule.ValidationParameters["badValue"]; return function(value, context) { if (value != badValue) { return true; } return rule.ErrorMessage; }; }; The rule is being applied to the dropdowns successfully, and placing a breakpoint within the returned function confirms that the validation is firing, and that the 'badValue' is being correctly set. However, 'value' is always null, and so the check always fails. What am I doing wrong?

The first: is to create a page in a library then create a C# library project to handle the events of the controls on the page. The second: is to define a feature of the content type of my list and specify the new item form to be my custom form, then create a website containing the custom form and put this site at the layouts folder. for me the first approach is fine but the problem is that a user may access the default sharepoint new item form which I don't want to happen. but I don't like the idea of placing the form in a library on the site. so which is better in your opinion ? thanks

  So I'm trying to parse an incoming request in PHP which has the following header set: Authorization: Custom Username Simple question: how on earth do I get my hands on it? If it was Authorization: Basic, I could get the username from $_SERVER["PHP_AUTH_USER"]. If it was X-Custom-Authorization: Username, I could get the username from $_SERVER["HTTP_X_CUSTOM_AUTHORIZATION"]. But neither of these are set by a custom Authorization, var_dump($_SERVER) reveals no mention of the header (in particular, AUTH_TYPE is missing), and PHP5 functions like get_headers() only work on responses to outgoing requests. I'm running PHP 5 on Apache with an out-of-the box Ubuntu install.

  Hi, I'm creating a custom action that executes a script on a database. The problem is that the connectios uses intergrated security, so when I try to open the connection i get the error: Login Failed for user 'Domain\ComputerName$'. When i check the identity on the custom action (using System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent()) I always get "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM" but I'm running the installer under my account which has enough privileges on the Database. How can I run the custom action under the real user runnig the msi file or solve this problem in any other way?

  I have an MVC 2 application that utilises forms. The required fields within the form are set using attributes that update the model metadata. The form fields are created using the MVC HtmlHelper method : Html.EditorFor. This works fine so far as validation is concerned, but it seems that by default the required fields are not displayed to the user (for example by appending a * to the control). If I wanted to provide some custom means of displaying this fact to the user (lets immagine I want to change the background colour of the edit control for example), where is the best place to do it. Would I need to create a custom html helper to replace EditorFor? I tried but it seemed difficult to gain access to the metadata for the correct property. I already have a custom ModelMetaDataProvider so there is no problem adding it there if that is the correct place.

  I am in the process of converting a legacy application from proprietary technology to a Spring based web app, leaving the backend system as is. The login service is provided by the backend system through a function call that takes in some parameter (username, password plus some others) and provides an output that includes the authroizations for the user and other properties like firstname, lastname etc. What do I need to do to weave this into Spring 3.0 security module. Looks like I need to provide a custom AuthenticationProvider implementation (is this where I call the backend function?). Do I also need a custom User and UserDetailsService implementation which needs loadUserByName(String userName)? Any pointers on good documentation for this? The reference that came with the download is okay, but doesn't help too much in terms of implementing custom security.

  I am totally confused by a simple Microsoft error message. When I run XSD.exe against an assembly that contains a custom ConfigurationSection (which in turn utilizes a custom ConfigurationElement and a custom ConfigurationElementCollection, as well as several ConfigurationProperties), I get the following error message: Error: There was an error processing 'Olbert.Entity.Utils.dll'. There was an error reflecting type 'Olbert.Entity.DatabaseConnection'. You must implement a default accessor on System.Configuration.ConfigurationLockCollection because it inherits from ICollection. Yet the class in question has a default accessor: public object this[int idx] { get { return null; } set { } } I realize the above doesn't do anything, but I don't need to access the element's properties by index. I'm just trying to work around the error message. So what's going on?

  Hi All, I have a tableview displaying data using a custom UITableViewCell(say cell1). On touch of a row, I change the custom cell to another custom UITableViewCell(say cell2). Also I increase the size of row of the selected cell to accomodate, more items of cell2. My problem is that the approach works fine when the number of rows in table view is less. When the number of rows increses, the rows expand on touching, but the data displayed is same as that of cell1. Cell2 doesn't seem to be loaded at all.   Hi All - I’m a recent user of Codeigniter and am developing a simple backend CMS to manage pages. Based on a URL (in this example I have hidden “index.php”) : mysite.com/pagename I would like the system to detect if there is a value of “pagename” in my database, if there is, I need the system to re-route to a custom controller (eg: Pagemaker) and if there is no record called pagename, just do it’s normal thing (i.e. find a controller called pagename) Currently I have: $route['(:any)'] = "pagemaker/create/$1"; whereby all requests are forwarded to my custom function. However I want to change this structure so that if the page does NOT exist in the db, the traditional codeigniter request process is followed. Can anyone offer any advice about how to complete this? Or any advice about routing custom CMS’s in codeigniter in general?

  Hello I'm using the entity framework that comes with 3.5sp1, and I'm trying to add a custom entity that I will propulate with searchresults from a stored procedure. But I have problems with the designer....... when I pick "Add + Entity" and give it a name, and hit save, the whole diagram stops working...... blah entities namespace could not be found..... all the other entities have lost its reference or summet. Works when I add a "table" to it that exists in database. But when custom it screws everything up. How should I fix this? I've imported the function, I just need to add an entity for it... I've read http://blogs.microsoft.co.il/blogs/gilf/archive/2009/03/13/mapping-stored-procedure-results-to-a-custom-entity-in-entity-framework.aspx but I cant get to step 3 since of all the errors when saving on step 2. /M
