  • Git: changes not reflecting on other checkouts - huh?

    - by Chad Johnson
Okay, so, I have my branches (git branch -a): * chat master remotes/origin/HEAD -> origin/master remotes/origin/chat I make changes (still with the 'chat' branch checkout out), commit, and push. I go to my server, on which I have a clone of the repository, and I do a fetch: git getch then I switch to the chat branch: git checkout --track -b chat origin/chat and I event do a pull, just to make sure everything is up to date: git pull and my changes from my other computer are NOT. THERE. What the heck am I doing wrong? If I had hair, I would have pulled it out. Thankfully I am bald. When I try a 'git commit' again, I get this # On branch chat # Changed but not updated: # (use "git add/rm <file>..." to update what will be committed) # (use "git checkout -- <file>..." to discard changes in working directory) # # modified: app/controllers/chat_controller.rb # modified: app/views/dashboard/index.html.erb # modified: app/views/dashboard/layout.js.erb # modified: app/views/layouts/dashboard.html.erb # deleted: app/views/project/.tmp_edit.html.erb.55742~ # deleted: app/views/project/.tmp_edit.html.erb.83482~ # modified: public/stylesheets/dashboard/layout.css # # Untracked files: # (use "git add <file>..." to include in what will be committed) # # .loadpath # .project # config/database.yml # config/environments/development.yml # config/environments/production.yml # config/environments/test.yml # log/ no changes added to commit (use "git add" and/or "git commit -a")

  • rails delete_all exception

    - by Sergei
Hello, guys! I have some User model, Role model and Assignment model to manage role-based user system. Just like here . So, here some kind of code, to include roles into users form: <% for role in Role.all %> <%= check_box_tag "user[role_ids][]", role.id, @user.roles.include?(role) %> <%=h role.name %><br /> <% end %> And all's working fine for new records and for editing records. But I just want to make possible to restrict deleting Assigment with id=1, cause this Assignment for default root user from migration, who must be admin anyway. Otherwise, I can lose my last admin. So I've tryed to add before_destroy to Assignment.rb model, but it doesn't work. I've noticed, that when I'm editing user and trying to remove his admin role(assignment), the server makes a delete_all method, not destroy method. So, does anybody know how to catch the deleting of Assignment with id=1 through this kind of code? Thanks in advance!

  • Rails: using find method to access joined tables for polymorphic relationships

    - by DJTripleThreat
Ok, I have a generic TimeSlot model that deals with a start_at and an end_at for time spans. A couple models derive from this but I'm referring to one in this question: AppointmentBlock which is a collection of Appointments. I want to validate an AppointmentBlock such that no other AppointmentBlocks have been scheduled for a particular Employee in the same time frame. Since AppointmentBlock has a polymorphic association with TimeSlot, you have to access the AppointmentBlock's start_at and end_at through the TimeSlot like so: appt_block.time_slot.start_at This means that I need to have some kind of join in my :conditions for my find() method call. Here is my code so far: #inside my appointment_block.rb model validate :employee_not_double_booked def employee_not_double_booked unless self.employee_id # this find's condition is incorrect because I need to join time_slots to get access # to start_at and end_at. How can I do this? blocks = AppointmentBlock.find(:first, :conditions => ['employee_id = ? and (start_at between ? and ? or end_at between ? and ?)', self.employee_id, self.time_slot.start_at, self.time_slot.end_at, self.time_slot.start_at, self.time_slot.end_at]) # pseudo code: # collect a list of appointment blocks that end after this # apointment block starts or start before this appointment # block ends that are also associated with this appointment # blocks assigned employee # if the count is great then 0 the employee has been double # booked. # if a block was found that means this employee is getting # double booked so raise an error errors.add "AppointmentBlock", "has already been scheduled during this time" if blocks end end Since AppointmentBlock doesn't have a start_at or an end_at how can I join with the time_slots table to get those conditions to work?

  • Accessing memory buffer after fread()

    - by xiongtx
I'm confused as to how fread() is used. Below is an example from cplusplus.com /* fread example: read a complete file */ #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> int main () { FILE * pFile; long lSize; char * buffer; size_t result; pFile = fopen ( "myfile.bin" , "rb" ); if (pFile==NULL) {fputs ("File error",stderr); exit (1);} // obtain file size: fseek (pFile , 0 , SEEK_END); lSize = ftell (pFile); rewind (pFile); // allocate memory to contain the whole file: buffer = (char*) malloc (sizeof(char)*lSize); if (buffer == NULL) {fputs ("Memory error",stderr); exit (2);} // copy the file into the buffer: result = fread (buffer,1,lSize,pFile); if (result != lSize) {fputs ("Reading error",stderr); exit (3);} /* the whole file is now loaded in the memory buffer. */ // terminate fclose (pFile); free (buffer); return 0; } Let's say that I don't use fclose() just yet. Can I now just treat buffer as an array and access elements like buffer[i]? Or do I have to do something else?

  • SystemStackError in Rails::ActiveSupport::Callbacks

    - by coreyward
I'm building a Rails app that connects to Dropbox and syncs with a folder to update a personal site. I'm using Rails 3.0.3, Ruby 1.9.2, and the Dropbox gem. Right now I have a DropboxAccounts Controller, and two models: DropboxSession, which wraps calls to the gem with application-specific functionality, and DropboxAccount, which stores the session and settings in the database. After the user authorizes their account with Dropbox they're redirected back over and the DropboxAccount is saved with the authorized session. That all works just fine. My problem is that when I try to call Dropbox::API#create_folder(any path) I end up with a SystemStackError in lib/activesupport/callbacks.rb:421 which refers to the code below. If I remove the call to create the folder, it works. If I call create folder from another request, it works. I doubled the stack size to 16K to no avail. # This is called the first time a callback is called with a particular # key. It creates a new callback method for the key, calculating # which callbacks can be omitted because of per_key conditions. # def __create_keyed_callback(name, kind, object, &blk) #:nodoc: @_keyed_callbacks ||= {} @_keyed_callbacks[name] ||= begin str = send("_#{kind}_callbacks").compile(name, object) class_eval <<-RUBY_EVAL, __FILE__, __LINE__ + 1 def #{name}() #{str} end # THIS IS LINE 421 protected :#{name} RUBY_EVAL true end end I'm not very familiar with Rails yet, and I'm not sure what the intention of the code above is or why it would cause a stack overflow. I'm not using any method_missing/ghost method magic in my code. I suspected it was something with a callback serialize :files but commenting it out did nothing. My DropboxAccount model contains only a call to belongs_to :user, and DropboxSession is just a handful of methods, none of which contain callbacks. Bypassing them and using the Dropbox::Session methods directly doesn't help. I hope someone on StackOverflow can help me with this stack overflow. ;)

  • From Sinatra Base object. Get port of application including the base object

    - by Poul
I have a Sinatra::Base object that I would like to include in all of my web apps. In that base class I have the configure method which is called on start-up. I would like that configure code to 'register' that service with a centralized database. The information that needs to be sent when registering is the information on how to contact this web-service... things like host and port. I then plan on having a monitoring service that will spin over all registered services and occasionally ping them to make sure they are still up and running. In the configure method I am having trouble getting the port information. The 'self.settings.port' variable doesn't seem to work in this method. a) any ideas on how to get the port? I have the host. b) is there a sinatra plug-in that already does something like this so I don't have to write it myself? :-) //in my Sinatra::Base code. lets call it register_me.rb RegisterMe < Sinatra::Base configure do //save host and port information to database end get '/check_status' //return status end //in my web service code require register_me //at this point, sinatra will initialize the RegisterMe object and call configure post ('/blah') //example of a method for this particular web service end

  • Python: Copying files with special characters in path

    - by erikderwikinger
Hi is there any possibility in Python 2.5 to copy files having special chars (Japanese chars, cyrillic letters) in their path? shutil.copy cannot handle this. here is some example code: import copy, os,shutil, sys fname=os.getenv("USERPROFILE")+"\\Desktop\\testfile.txt" print fname print "type of fname: "+str(type(fname)) fname0 = unicode(fname,'mbcs') print fname0 print "type of fname0: "+str(type(fname0)) fname1 = unicodedata.normalize('NFKD', fname0).encode('cp1251','replace') print fname1 print "type of fname1: "+str(type(fname1)) fname2 = unicode(fname,'mbcs').encode(sys.stdout.encoding) print fname2 print "type of fname2: "+str(type(fname2)) shutil.copy(fname2,'C:\\') the output on a Russian Windows XP C:\Documents and Settings\+????????????\Desktop\testfile.txt type of fname: <type 'str'> C:\Documents and Settings\?????????????\Desktop\testfile.txt type of fname0: <type 'unicode'> C:\Documents and Settings\+????????????\Desktop\testfile.txt type of fname1: <type 'str'> C:\Documents and Settings\?????????????\Desktop\testfile.txt type of fname2: <type 'str'> Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Test\getuserdir.py", line 23, in <module> shutil.copy(fname2,'C:\\') File "C:\Python25\lib\shutil.py", line 80, in copy copyfile(src, dst) File "C:\Python25\lib\shutil.py", line 46, in copyfile fsrc = open(src, 'rb') IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'C:\\Documents and Settings\\\x80\ xa4\xac\xa8\xad\xa8\xe1\xe2\xe0\xa0\xe2\xae\xe0\\Desktop\\testfile.txt'

  • Rails select box in form decides on create action in controller?

    - by dannymcc
Hi Everyone? I am trying to add a select box to the base of my create form that decides if an action runs from the controller...if that makes any sense? Basically the application creates a project in FreeagentCentral whenever a new project is made: def create @company = Company.find(params[:kase][:company_id]) @kase = @company.kases.create!(params[:kase]) respond_to do |format| params[:send_to_freeagent] ? @kase.create_freeagent_project(current_user) #flash[:notice] = 'Case was successfully created.' flash[:notice] = fading_flash_message("Case was successfully created.", 5) format.html { redirect_to(@kase) } format.xml { render :xml => @kase, :status => :created, :location => @kase } end end and within my form I have: <%= check_box_tag :send_to_freeagent, 1 % Create project in Freeagent? What I would like to happen, is if the select box is checked the project is sent to Freeagent. If not, the case just gets created locally as normal but without the Freeagent data being sent. If I use the above code, I get an exception caught error: SyntaxError in KasesController#new controllers/kases_controller.rb:114: syntax error, unexpected '\n' Any idea what I am doing wrong, also is it possible to make the check boxes checked as default? Thanks, Danny

  • Python FTP grabbing and saving images issue

    - by PylonsN00b
OK So I have been messing with this all day long. I am fairly new to Python FTP. So I have searched through here and came up w/ this: images = notions_ftp.nlst() for image_name in image_names: if found_url == False: try: for image in images: ftp_image_name = "./%s" % image_name if ftp_image_name == image: found_url = True image_name_we_want = image_name except: pass # We failed to find an image for this product, it will have to be done manually if found_url == False: log.info("Image ain't there baby -- SKU: %s" % sku) return False # Hey we found something! Open the image.... notions_ftp.retrlines("RETR %s" % image_name_we_want, open(image_name_we_want, "rb")) 1/0 So I have narrowed the error down to the line before I divide by zero. Here is the error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<console>", line 6, in <module> File "<console>", line 39, in insert_image IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '411483CC-IT,IM.jpg' So if you follow the code you will see that the image IS in the directory because image_name_we_want is set if found in that directory listing on the first line of my code. And I KNOW it's there because I am looking at the FTP site myself and ...it's freakin there. So at some point during all of this I got the image to save locally, which is most desired, but I have long since forgot what I used to make it do that. Either way, why does it think that the image isn't there when it clearly finds it in the listing.

  • Validate HAML from ActiveRecord: scope/controller/helpers for link_to etc?

    - by Chris Boyle
I like HAML. So much, in fact, that in my first Rails app, which is the usual blog/CMS thing, I want to render the body of my Page model using HAML. So here is app/views/pages/_body.html.haml: .entry-content= Haml::Engine.new(body, :format => :html5).render ...and it works (yay, recursion). What I'd like to do is validate the HAML in the body when creating or updating a Page. I can almost do that, but I'm stuck on the scope argument to render. I have this in app/models/page.rb: validates_each :body do |record, attr, value| begin Haml::Engine.new(value, :format => :html5).render(record) rescue Exception => e record.errors.add attr, "line #{(e.respond_to? :line) && e.line || 'unknown'}: #{e.message}" end end You can see I'm passing record, which is a Page, but even that doesn't have a controller, and in particular doesn't have any helpers like link_to, so as soon as a Page uses any of that it's going to fail to validate even when it would actually render just fine. So I guess I need a controller as scope for this, but accessing that from here in the model (where the validator is) is a big MVC no-no, and as such I don't think Rails gives me a way to do it. (I mean, I suppose I could stash a controller in some singleton somewhere or something, but... excuse me while I throw up.) What's the least ugly way to properly validate HAML in an ActiveRecord validator?

  • Resque: Slow worker startup and Forking

    - by David John
I'm currently moving my application from a Linode setup to EC2. Redis is currently installed on a remote instance with various worker instances interacting with the queue. Thats all going fantastic. My problem is with the amount of time it takes for a worker to be 'instantiated' and slow forking. Starting a worker will usually take between 30 seconds and a minute(from god.rb starting the worker rake task and the worker actively starting work on the queue). I could live with that, but I've not experienced such a wait time on my current Linode production box so I believe its one of my symptoms to a bigger problem. Next issue is that jobs that took a second or less in my previous environment now seem to take about 5 to 10 times longer.. I'm assuming this must be some sort of issue with my Ubuntu install on EC2? One notable difference is that I'm running REE 1.8.7-2010.01 in my new setup, and REE 1.8.6 on the old Linode boxes. Anyone else experienced these issues?

  • CanCan polymorphic resource access problem

    - by Call 'naive' True
Hi everybody, i don't quite understand how to restrict access to links in this particular case with CanCan. I always get "Edit" link displayed. So i believe the problem is in my incorrect definition of cancan methods(load_ and authorize_). I have CommentsController like that: class CommentsController < ApplicationController before_filter :authenticate_user! load_resource :instance_name => :commentable authorize_resource :article def index @commentable = find_commentable #loading our generic object end ...... private def find_commentable params.each { |name, value| if name =~ /(.+)_id$/ return $1.classify.constantize.includes(:comments => :karma).find(value) end } end end and i have in comments/index.html.erb following code that render file from other controller: <%= render :file => "#{get_commentable_partial_name(@commentable)}/show.html.erb", :collection => @commentable %> you can think about "#{get_commentable_partial_name(@commentable)}" like just "articles" in this case. Content of "articles/show.html.erb": <% if can? :update, @commentable %> <%= link_to 'Edit', edit_article_path(@commentable) %> | <% end %> my ability.rb: class Ability include CanCan::Ability def initialize(user) user ||= User.new # guest user if user.role? :admin can :manage, :all elsif user.role? :author can :read, [Article, Comment, Profile] can :update, Article, :user_id => user.id end end end relations with models is: class Comment < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :commentable, :polymorphic => true, :dependent => :destroy ... end class Article < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :comments, :as => :commentable, :dependent => :destroy ... end i have tried debug this issue like that user = User.first article = Article.first ability = Ability.new(user) ability.can?(:update, article) and i always get "= true" in ability check Note: user.role == author and article.user_id != user.id if you need more information please write thank's for your time && sorry for my english

  • Rails - any fancy ways to handle 404s?

    - by jyoseph
I have a rails app I built for an old site I converted from another cms (in a non-rails language, hehe). Most of the old pages are mapped to the new pages using routes.rb. But there are still a few 404s. I am a rails newb so I'm asking if there are any advanced ways to handle 404s. For example, if I was programming in my old language I'd do this: Get the URL (script_name) that was being accessed and parse it. Do a lookup in the database for any keywords, ids, etc found in the new URL. If found, redirect to the page (or if multiple records are found, show them all on a results page and let user choose). With rails I'd probably want to do :status = :moved_permanently I'm guessing? If not found, show a 404. Are there any gems/plugins or tutorials you know of that would handle such a thing, if it's even possible. Or can you explain on a high level how that can be done? I don't need a full code sample, just a push in the right direction. PS. It's a simple rails 3 app that uses a single Content model.

  • git-diff to ignore ^M

    - by neoneye
In a project where some of the files contains ^M as newline separators. Diffing these files are apparently impossible, since git-diff sees it as the entire file is just a single line. How does one diff with the previous version? Is there an option like "treat ^M as newline when diffing" ? prompt> git-diff "HEAD^" -- MyFile.as diff --git a/myproject/MyFile.as b/myproject/MyFile.as index be78321..a393ba3 100644 --- a/myproject/MyFile.cpp +++ b/myproject/MyFile.cpp @@ -1 +1 @@ -<U+FEFF>import flash.events.MouseEvent;^Mimport mx.controls.*;^Mimport mx.utils.Delegate \ No newline at end of file +<U+FEFF>import flash.events.MouseEvent;^Mimport mx.controls.*;^Mimport mx.utils.Delegate \ No newline at end of file prompt> UPDATE: now I have written a script that checks out the latest 10 revisions and converts CR to LF. require 'fileutils' if ARGV.size != 3 puts "a git-path must be provided" puts "a filename must be provided" puts "a result-dir must be provided" puts "example:" puts "ruby gitcrdiff.rb project/dir1/dir2/dir3/ SomeFile.cpp tmp_somefile" exit(1) end gitpath = ARGV[0] filename = ARGV[1] resultdir = ARGV[2] unless FileTest.exist?(".git") puts "this command must be run in the same dir as where .git resides" exit(1) end if FileTest.exist?(resultdir) puts "the result dir must not exist" exit(1) end FileUtils.mkdir(resultdir) 10.times do |i| revision = "^" * i cmd = "git show HEAD#{revision}:#{gitpath}#{filename} | tr '\\r' '\\n' > #{resultdir}/#{filename}_rev#{i}" puts cmd system cmd end

  • Ruby Alias and module_function

    - by Jesse J
I'm trying to debug someone else's code and having trouble figuring out what's wrong. When I run rake, one of the errors I get is: 2) Error: test_math(TestRubyUnits): NoMethodError: undefined method `unit_sin' for CMath:Module /home/user/ruby-units/lib/ruby_units/math.rb:21:in `sin' This is the function that calls the method: assert_equal Math.sin(pi), Math.sin("180 deg".unit) And this is what the class looks like: module Math alias unit_sin sin def sin(n) Unit === n ? unit_sin(n.to('radian').scalar) : unit_sin(n) end alias unit_cos cos def cos(n) Unit === n ? unit_cos(n.to('radian').scalar) : unit_cos(n) end ... module_function :unit_sin module_function :sin module_function :unit_cos module_function :cos ... end (The ellipsis means "more of the same"). As far as I can see, this is valid Ruby code. Is there something I'm missing here that's causing the error, or could the error be coming from something else? Update: I'm wondering if the problem has to do with namespaces. This code is attempting to extend CMath, so perhaps the alias and/or module_function isn't actually getting into CMath, or something like that....

  • Python: Errors saving and loading objects with pickle module

    - by Peterstone
Hi, I am trying to load and save objects with this piece of code I get it from a question I asked a week ago: Python: saving and loading objects and using pickle. The piece of code is this: class Fruits: pass banana = Fruits() banana.color = 'yellow' banana.value = 30 import pickle filehandler = open("Fruits.obj","wb") pickle.dump(banana, filehandler) filehandler.close() file = open("Fruits.obj",'rb') object_file = pickle.load(file) file.close() print(object_file.color, object_file.value, sep=', ') At a first glance the piece of code works well, getting load and see the 'color' and 'value' of the saved object. But, what I pursuit is to close a session, open a new one and load what I save in a past session. I close the session after putting the line filehandler.close() and I open a new one and I put the rest of your code, then after putting object_file = pickle.load(file) I get this error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<pyshell#5>", line 1, in <module> object_file = pickle.load(file) File "C:\Python31\lib\pickle.py", line 1365, in load encoding=encoding, errors=errors).load() AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'Fruits' Can anyone explain me what this error message means and telling me how to solve this problem? Thank so much and happy new year!!

  • Why is the exception thrown on memcpy using during copying LPBYTE to LPTSTR (clipboard)?

    - by user46503
Hello, I have a LPBYTE array (taken from file) and I need to copy it into LPTSRT (actually into the clipboard). The trouble is copying work but unstable, sometime an exception was thrown (not always) and I don't understand why. The code is: FILE *fConnect = _wfopen(connectFilePath, _T("rb")); if (!fConnect) return; fseek(fConnect, 0, SEEK_END); lSize = ftell(fConnect); rewind(fConnect); LPBYTE lpByte = (LPBYTE) malloc(lSize); fread(lpByte, 1, lSize, fConnect); lpByte[lSize] = 0; fclose(fConnect); //Copy into clipboard BOOL openRes = OpenClipboard(NULL); if (!openRes) return; DWORD err = GetLastError(); EmptyClipboard(); HGLOBAL hText; hText = GlobalAlloc(GMEM_MOVEABLE, (lSize+ sizeof(TCHAR))); LPTSTR sMem = (TCHAR*)GlobalLock(hText); memcpy(sMem, lpByte, (lSize + sizeof(TCHAR))); The last string is the place where the exception is thrown. • Why does Rails screw up timezones when I am editing a resource?

    - by DJTripleThreat
Steps to produce this: prompt>rails test_app prompt>cd test_app prompt>script/generate scaffold date_test my_date:datetime prompt>rake db:migrate now edit your app/views/date_tests/edit.html.erb: <h1>Editing date_test</h1> <% form_for(@date_test) do |f| %> <%= f.error_messages %> <p> RIGHT!<br/> <%= text_field_tag @date_test, f.object.my_date %> </p> <p> WRONG!<br /> <%= f.text_field :my_date %> </p> <p> <%= f.submit 'Update' %> </p> <% end %> <%= link_to 'Show', @date_test %> | <%= link_to 'Back', date_tests_path %> now edit your config/environment.rb: #add this config.time_zone = 'Central Time (US & Canada)' This recreates the problem I am having in my actual app. The problem with my app is that I'm storing a date in a hidden field and rendering a "user friendly" version. Creating a resource works fine but as soon as I try to edit it the time changes (it adds the difference between my current time zone configuration and UTC). go to http://localhost:3000/date_tests/new and save the time then go to reedit it and you will have two different representations of the date/time one which will save incorrectly and the other that will.

Previous question here My problem is I am trying to set my routes so that when I type in localhost:3000/sites/admin It should redirect to localhost:3000/en/sites/admin here is my routes.rb file scope ":locale", locale: /#{I18n.available_locales.join("|")}/ do get "log_out" => "sessions#destroy", as: "log_out" get "log_in" => "sessions#new", as: "log_in" resources :sites, except: [:new, :edit, :index, :show, :update, :destroy, :create] do collection do get :home get :about_us get :faq get :discounts get :services get :contact_us get :admin get :posts end end resources :users resources :abouts resources :sessions resources :coupons resources :monthly_posts resources :reviews resources :categories do collection { post :sort } resources :children, :controller => :categories, :only => [:index, :new, :create, :new_subcategory] end resources :products do member do put :move_up put :move_down end end resources :faqs do collection { post :sort } end root :to => 'sites#home' match "/savesort" => 'sites#savesort' end match '', to: redirect("/#{I18n.default_locale}") match '*path', to: redirect("/#{I18n.default_locale}/%{path}") But as of right now, it redirects to /en/en/en/en/en/en/en/en/en/en/sites/admin (adds en until browser complains). Any thoughts why it keeps adding /en?

  • Capistrano + Git + DreamHost

    - by Michael Sync
Hello, I'm trying to deploy my rails application by using Passenger and Capistrano on Dreamhost. I'm using Git as a version control and we bought an account from GitHub. I have installed all required gems, Passenger and Capistrano in my local machine and I have cloned the repository of my project from GitHub in my local machine as wel. According to Dreamhost support, they have Passenger, Ruby, Rails and etc on their server as well. I'm currently following this article http://github.com/guides/deploying-with-capistrano for my deployment. The following is my deploy.rb. default_run_options[:pty] = true ssh_options[:forward_agent] = true # be sure to change these set :user, 'gituser' set :domain, 'github.com' set :application, 'MyProjectOnGit' #[email protected]:MyProjectOnGit.git # the rest should be good set :repository, "[email protected]:MyProjectOnGit.git" set :deploy_to, "/ruby.michaelsync.net/" set :deploy_via, :remote_cache set :scm, 'git' set :branch, 'master' set :git_shallow_clone, 1 set :scm_verbose, true set :use_sudo, false set :git_enable_submodules, 1 server domain, :app, :web role :db, domain, :primary => true set :ssh_options, { :forward_agent => true } namespace :deploy do task :restart do run "touch #{current_path}/tmp/restart.txt" end end When I run "cap deploy", I'm getting the error below. [deploy:update_code] exception while rolling back: Capistrano::ConnectionError, connection failed for: github.com (Net::SSH::AuthenticationFailed: gituser) connection failed for: github.com (Net::SSH::AuthenticationFailed: gituser) Thanks in advance..

  • What is the Pythonic way to implement a simple FSM?

    - by Vicky
Yesterday I had to parse a very simple binary data file - the rule is, look for two bytes in a row that are both 0xAA, then the next byte will be a length byte, then skip 9 bytes and output the given amount of data from there. Repeat to the end of the file. My solution did work, and was very quick to put together (even though I am a C programmer at heart, I still think it was quicker for me to write this in Python than it would have been in C) - BUT, it is clearly not at all Pythonic and it reads like a C program (and not a very good one at that!) What would be a better / more Pythonic approach to this? Is a simple FSM like this even still the right choice in Python? My solution: #! /usr/bin/python import sys f = open(sys.argv[1], "rb") state = 0 if f: for byte in f.read(): a = ord(byte) if state == 0: if a == 0xAA: state = 1 elif state == 1: if a == 0xAA: state = 2 else: state = 0 elif state == 2: count = a; skip = 9 state = 3 elif state == 3: skip = skip -1 if skip == 0: state = 4 elif state == 4: print "%02x" %a count = count -1 if count == 0: state = 0 print "\r\n"

  • Customizing the Stars Image for Ajaxful_Rating RoR plugin

    - by Kevin
I'm trying to come up with my own star image that's slightly smaller and different style than the one provided in the gem/plugin, but Ajaxful_rating doesn't have an easy way to do this. Here's what I've figured out so far: The stars.png in the public folder is three 25x25 pixel tiles stacked vertically, ordered empty star, normal star, and hover star. I'm assuming as long as you keep the above constraints, you should be fine without modifying any other files. But what if you want to change the image size of the stars to larger or smaller? I've found where you can change the height in the stylesheets/ajaxful_rating.css .ajaxful-rating{ position: relative; /*width: 125px; this is setted dynamically */ height: 25px; overflow: hidden; list-style: none; margin: 0; padding: 0; background-position: left top; } .ajaxful-rating li{ display: inline; } .ajaxful-rating a, .ajaxful-rating span, .ajaxful-rating .show-value{ position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; text-indent: -1000em; height: 25px; line-height: 25px; outline: none; overflow: hidden; border: none; } You just need to change every place that says "25px" above to whatever height your new star image is. This works fine but doesn't display the horizontal part correctly. Anyone know where I would look to set the horizontal part as well? (I'm assuming it's in an .rb file somewhere based upon how many stars you specified in your ajaxful_rating setup)

  • Refactoring routes - serving different layouts

    - by dmclark
    As a Rails NOOB, I started with a routes.rb of: ActionController::Routing::Routes.draw do |map| map.resources :events map.connect 'affiliates/list', :controller => "affiliates", :action => "list" map.connect 'affiliates/regenerate_thumb/:id', :controller => "affiliates", :action => "regenerate_thumb" map.connect 'affiliates/state/:id.:format', :controller => "affiliates", :action => "find_by_state" map.connect 'affiliates/getfeed', :controller => "affiliates", :action => "feed" map.resources :affiliates, :has_many => :events map.connect ":controller/:action" map.connect '', :controller => "affiliates" map.connect ":controller/:action/:id" map.connect ":controller/:action/:id/:format" end and i'm trying to tighten it up. and I've gotten as far as: ActionController::Routing::Routes.draw do |map| map.resources :events, :only => "index" map.resources :affiliates do |affiliates| affiliates.resources :has_many => :events affiliates.resources :collection => { :list => :get, :regenerate_thumb => "regenerate_thumb" } end # map.connect 'affiliates/regenerate_thumb/:id', :controller => "affiliates", :action => "regenerate_thumb" map.connect 'affiliates/state/:id.:format', :controller => "affiliates", :action => "find_by_state" map.connect 'affiliates/getfeed', :controller => "affiliates", :action => "feed" map.root :affiliates end what is confusing to me is routes vs parameters.. For example, I realized that the only difference between list and index is HOW it is rendered, rather than WHAT is rendered. Having a different action (as I do now) feels wrong but I can't figure out he right way. Thanks

  • Simple binary File I/O problem with cstdio(c++)

    - by Atilla Filiz
    The c++ program below fails to read the file. I know using cstdio is not good practice but that what I am used to and it should work anyway. $ ls -l l.uyvy -rw-r--r-- 1 atilla atilla 614400 2010-04-24 18:11 l.uyvy $ ./a.out l.uyvy Read 0 bytes out of 614400, possibly wrong file code: #include<cstdio> int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { FILE *fp; if(argc<2) { printf("usage: %s <input>\n",argv[0]); return 1; } fp=fopen(argv[1],"rb"); if(!fp) { printf("erör, cannot open %s for reading\n",argv[1]); return -1; } int bytes_read=fread(imgdata,1,2*IMAGE_SIZE,fp); //2bytes per pixel fclose(fp); if(bytes_read < 2*IMAGE_SIZE) { printf("Read %d bytes out of %d, possibly wrong file\n", bytes_read, 2*IMAGE_SIZE); return -1; } return 0; }
