  • Web Service gets unavailable after several concurrent calls

    We are testing GoDaddy Virtual Data Center and came to a very strange issue when our web site gets unavailable. GoDaddy Support keeps saying the issue is in our web server settings, but looking at the result of our tests I doubt it. TEST ENVIRONMENT Virtual DataCenter with Windows hosted at GoDaddy.com. All servers have Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter, IIS 7. Server One with IP address 10.1.0.4 Server Two with IP address 10.1.0.3 Both servers are in private network not visible from outside. Port Forward with IP address 50.62.13.174. Port Forward is assigned to Server One TEST DESCRIPTION JMeter is used as a Client App to simulate 30 concurrent users sending 100 SOAP requests each. Interval between requests is 1 second. Http link used for testing: http://50.62.13.174/v2/webservices.asmx TEST ONE Test is run from a computer in our office. After JMeter starts running test, almost immediately, the link above becomes unavailable in a browser. After test completion, the link is not available in a browser for about 5 more minutes. Remote Desktop is working well, so we can connect to Server One remotely. After about 5 minutes since test completion, the link becomes available in a browser again. TEST TWO Test is run from Server Two (that is part of our virtual data center). Test works very well, no visible delays in processing. The link is available in a browser all the time. TEST THREE Test is run from Server One using localhost. The result is the same as in TEST TWO - no issues. TEST FOUR We repeated TEST ONE from other computers that we have located in different countries, all with the same result as TEST ONE. CONCLUSION As the test works well from Server Two, but does not work from outside our virtual data center, we feel there are issues with the network or its capacity. The whole behaviour looks like out requests from outside get stuck somewhere before reaching our virtual data center. Has anybody had similar issues in the past? Are there chances that something is wrong with our server settings?

  • Graphite Integration breaks ganglia/gmetad?

    I'm trying to forward metrics from gmetad to graphite/carbon. After configuring carbon_server and ganglia_prefix in gmetad.conf gmetad starts losing metrics. gmetad Version is 3.3.5, carbon/whisper/graphite-web is 0.9.8. There is no I/O bottleneck on the system and no CPU bottleneck (HP DL385G7 with 2 SSDs in RAID0), I even configured another gmetad on a remote host to send metrics to graphite/carbon, which also broke down. Does anyone else experience this?

  • Exchange 2007 and migrating only some users under a shared domain name

    I'm in the process of moving two law firms to hosted Exchange 2007, a service that the consulting company I work for offers. Let's call these two firms Crane Law and Poole Law. These two firms were ONE firm just six months ago, but split. So they have three email domains: Old Firm: craneandpoole.com New Firm 1: cranelaw.com New Firm 2: poolelaw.com Both Firm 1 & Firm 2 use craneandpoole.com email addresses, as for the other two domains, only people who work at the respective firm use that firm's domain name, natch. Currently these two firms are still using the same pre-split internal Exchange 2007 server, where MX records for all three domains point. Here's the problem. I'm not moving both companies at the same time. I'm moving Crane Law two weeks before Poole Law. During this two weeks, both companies need to be able to: Continue to receive emails addressed to craneandpoole.com Send emails between firms, using cranelaw.com and poolelaw.com accounts I also have a third problem: I'd like to setup all three domains in my hosting infrastructure way ahead of time, to make my own life easier What would solve all my problems would be, if there is some way I can tell Exchange 2007, even though this domain exists locally forward on the message to the outside world using public MX record as a basis for where to send it (or if I could somehow create a route for it statically that would work too). If this doesn't work, to address points #1 when I migrate Crane Law, I will delete all references locally to cranelaw.com on their current Exchange server, and setup individual forwards for each of their craneandpool.com mailboxes to forward to our hosted exchange server. This will also take care of point #2, since the cranelaw.com won't be there locally, when poolelaw.com tries to send to cranelaw.com, public MX records will be used for mail routing decisions and go to my hosted exchange. The bummer of that though is, I won't be able to setup poolelaw.com ahead of time in hosted Exchange, will have to wait to do it day of :( Sorry for the long and confusing post. Just wondering if there is a better or simpler way to do what I want? Three tier forests and that kind of thing are out, this is just a two week window where they won't be in the same place.

For that, I need to bind to the multimedia keys a set of commands like this: dbus-send --dest=org.gnome.Rhythmbox ... Now, I searched and can't find it: what signals should I send? I need only 3 events: play, forward and rewind.

  • How to set up Gmail in Outlook when the ISP blocks SMTP?

    In Outlook, I'm setting up a Gmail account and I'm not able to send mails because my ISP is blocking SMTP forward. Any ways to bypass this? EDIT I've tried different settings, followed Gmail support inscructions and still not working. telnet smtp.gmail.com 465 telnet smtp.gmail.com 587 telnet smtp.gmail.com 25 all of them reply: Connecting To smtp.gmail.com...Could not open connection to the host, on port xxx : Connect failed and I don't have an email acount from my ISP.

Receiver listens to that port. Router, forwards 8999 to receiver. They are all on local network. Should it run well?

    I'm trying to setup Nginx to forward requests to several backend services using proxy_pass however several pages load with 404s The links on the pages have https:// in front, but result in a http request - which ends in a 404 - I only want these services to be available through https. I've tried with varied trailing forward slashes appended to the proxypath and location in proxy.conf, I've also tried commenting out www.conf (just incase its location blocks could have caused any conflicts) to no effect.     I'm setting up IPv6 using my router which is running OpenWRT, version Backfire 10.03.1-rc4. I made a tunnel using Hurricane Electric's tunnel broker and set it up on the router and I'm using RADVD to hand out IPv6 addresses. My problem is that on computers on the network, I can only access ipv6.google.com using a browser, but other sites seem to be loading forever and won't open in any browser. I can ping and traceroute to them fine, but can't open them with a browser. I can open any site normally with a browser from the router. Stopping firewall service on the router doesn't help, so it's probably not a firewall issue. All AAAA records resolve fine, so it's probably not a DNS issue. Computers on the network get their IPv6 addresses fine, so it's probably not a radvd issue. Similar setup worked fine for SixXs, but I'm having problems with my PoP there, so I decided to move to HE.     Does anyone know how to change the default search provider in IE8 Via Group Policy? IE7 seemed to work okay but once I rolled out the IE8 browser update via WSUS, it defaults back to Bing search on all clients which is done Via group policy. I have found some people making custom adm templates to change this behavior on Google but I cannot get a strait forward answer.

    "Routers do not forward packets with link-local addresses." says Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Link-local_address) What I want to know is: that makes sense if the destination is a link-local address, but what if I have a box that only has a link-local address trying to reach a global/site scope address? Can the traffic make it back, or will that fail because the return packets will be to a link-local address?

    I'm using windows XP with Lotus Notes 6.5. Notice windows clock time is correct until I open lotus notes and my time clock changed forward. I corrected the time and it's ok but until I open Lotus Notes again and the problem comeback.

    I have a mailbox that receives bounces as well as normal email (the latter includes messages from automated services). I want to filter out the bounces and forward them to another mailbox. Assume I cannot change the envelope return path in email I send. Is “null return path” a reliable criterion to tell bounces from normal mail? Roughly how many false positives and false negatives can I expect if I apply it?
