  Hi there I have set up my coldfusion application to have dynamic urls on the page, such as www.musicExplained/index.cfm/artist/:VariableName However my variable names will sometimes contain backslashes, such as www.musicExplained/index.cfm/artist/GZA/Genius This is causing a problem, because my application presumes that the slash in the variable name represents a different section of the website, the artists albums. So the URL will fail. I am wondering if there is anyway to prevent this from happening? Do I need to use a function that replaces slashes in the variable names with another character? Thanks

• How to intercept touch events globally?

  I have an view which is sometimes covered by some other views. However, if the user slides the finger across the screen, I want to slide that underlying view across the screen, too. I could start making custom views for all those covering subviews and forward all kinds of touch events, but that's somewhat cumbersome. Maybe there's some kind of notification or another way that a UIView or UIControl subclass can be aware of touch events happening right now, no matter where they are. In short: I need an UIView subclass or UIControl subclass which knows about any touch events happening on the entire screen. Or at least if tht's not possible, knowing about any touch events happening above itself in the same underlying superview. Another description: There are 20 views, all reside inside the same superview. The first view is covered by 19 others. But if the user slides across the screen, that first view must slide too, so it must be aware of touch events. Is there any better solution that making all 19 views forward touch events? (yes, all 19 views respond to touch events in this example)

• Spring Framework HttpRequestHandler failure

  We have an application which communicates via REST requests made by clients. The REST requests contain "region name" and a "ID" as parameters So, a request would look something like this (for a DELETE) http://host:port/regionnameID These REST requests between regions in a federation are properly URL encoded I find that these request fail if the region name has a slash ("/") in it. Then, the request would look like so http://host:port/region/nameID This is due to incorrect interpretation of the Rest URL by HttpRequesthandler when there is a '/' in the region name. Now, we have no control over clients sending REST request with "/" in the Region name. Is there any method / configuration / workaround that can be done to prevent the HttpRequestHandler from returning 404

• nginx + ssi + remote uri access does not work

  I have a setup where my nginx is in front with apache+PHP behind. My PHP application cache some page in memcache which are accessed by nginx directly except some dynamic part which are build using SSI in Nginx. The first problem I had was nginx didnt try to use memcache for ssi URI. <!--# include virtual="/myuser" --> So I figured that if I force it to use a full URL, it would do it. <!--# include virtual="http://www.example.com/myuser" --> But in logs file (both nginx and apache) I can see that a slash has been added at the beginning of the url http ssi filter "/http://www.example.com/myuser" In the source code of the SSI module I see a PREFIX that seems to be added, but I can really tell if I can disable it. Anybody got this issue? Nginx version : 0.7.62 on Ubuntu Karmic 64bits Thanks a lot

• Hot to log in to a website using installed twill?

  Hello, everybody!!!! I have just successfully installed TWILL on my computer with the help of one very supportive member of "StackOverflow" (you can check it out HERE) and have tried to run one of the simple examples on the twill documentation page (you can see that page HERE). Here is that example: Let's say my username on www.slash.org is lynxye and my password is mammal. When I try to enter that exanple code into my Python prompt, I can only enter the first line of the code bexcause when I click on "Enter" to start a new line, I get some error messages right away: The same happens when I try to enter this code into my terminal: I think I miss out on some basics here. Perhaps, I need to create a file that would contain that code and then run that file somehow, but I really don't know where I need to create that file and with what extensdion. Can anyone, please, help me with this?

• Mysterious HttpSession and session-config dependency

  Good day. I'm developing a Java web app with Servlets\JSP using Tomcat 7.0. During request from client I put and object into the session and use forward. After the forward processing the same request the object can be retreived if the secure parameter is false otherwise it is not stored in session. <session-config> <session-timeout>15</session-timeout> <cookie-config> <http-only>true</http-only> <secure>true</secure> </cookie-config> <tracking-mode>COOKIE</tracking-mode> </session-config> I've figured out that "...cookies can be created with the 'secure' flag, which ensures that the browser will never transmit the specified cookie over non-SSL...". I've configured Tomcat to use SSL, but that haven't helped. Changing the tracking mode to SSL haven't helped as well. How do session-config and HttpSession object correlate in this case? What could be the problem?

• Can Drupal Taxonomy module be used to categorize court records and briefs?

  I'm currently working on project that involves moving a database of documents for court records and briefs over to a Drupal environment. One of the problems that we are faced with is how to index these documents. In our court district, records and briefs all have a docket number which is assigned to a case. The interesting thing is that when multiple cases merge the docket numbers associated to the case become synonymous: Case 1, documents have Doceket No. A Case 2, documents have Docket No. B If case Cases 1 and Case 2 merge, then Docket No. A = Docket No. B My first inclination is to create Docket Vocabulary and have the terms of this Taxonomy be the docket numbers. I am hoping to take advantage of the fact that terms can be synonymous. I understand that there are several functions in the Taxonomy module that I may be able to take advantage, of including: taxonomy_get_synonyms taxonomy_get_related But I'm having problems convincing my collegues that this is the way to go, and frankly I'm not certain it's the right solution either. If anyone has had a similar issue and can offer some guidance as to how to move forward, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! • What characters are widely supported in CSS class names?

  As detailed here among other places, the only valid characters in a html/css class name is a-z, A-Z, 0-9, hyphen and underscore, and the first character should be a letter. But in practice, what characters are in fact supported by most browsers? More specifically, I wonder what browsers properly understands a slash (/) in a class name, and what browsers support class names starting with a number. I'm primarily interested in getting an answer for html rather than xhtml, in case there is a difference. Thank you.

• Suggest encoding which removes slashes which I can use as the format for REST-style URL-paramteters

  Given a path to a REST style URL: http://site.com/rest/customer/foo/robot/bar/1 When you GET it, it returns a PDF to the foo-customer containing page 1 of the bar-URL. While foo is the name of the customer bar is an URL. The URL usually contains slashes and might look something like this: http://anothersite.com/interestingarticle.html As REST URL's separate arguments by slashes I can't just put it into the REST URL above. Which encoding should I use? I can't use Base 64 as it utilizes the slash as well. As a technical note I will encode the URL in a .NET-application and decode it in PHP.

• Manipulating Directory Paths in Python

  Basically I've got this current url and this other key that I want to merge into a new url, but there are three different cases. Suppose the current url is localhost:32401/A/B/foo if key is bar then I want to return localhost:32401/A/B/bar if key starts with a slash and is /A/bar then I want to return localhost:32401/A/bar finally if key is its own independent url then I just want to return that key = htt p://foo.com/bar - http://foo.com/bar I assume there is a way to do at least the first two cases without manipulating the strings manually, but nothing jumped out at me immediately in the os.path module.

  I am trying to get the value of base_path variable in PHP (on lamp server) . I have kept the code insider beta_test directory inside www directly. i.e, base path function should return " /beta_test/ " . But it is returning just single slash ( "/" ) .   2 questions actually : 1) shortcut to toggle comment on selected lines ? Available on all iDEs I used starting with notepad++ 2)the ctrl-k, ctrl-c exhibits this behavior (quoted from someplace nicely worded): C#: Each line where some text is selected is commented at the line-start with double-slash. If nothing is selected, the line where the cursor is is commented. C++: If nothing is selected or complete lines are selected, it behaves as above. However, if parts of a line are selected, and no comment is selected as part of the selection (ex. select something in the middle of a code line), then the selection is surrounded by /* and */. since I code in C++ I find this behavior annoying - I want to be able to comment out lines partially selected - any workarounds ?

• Write transparent HTTP Proxy script in PHP

  Is there an easy forwarding/transparent php proxy script that I can host on my web server? These are my conditions: I'm using free web hosting, so I have pretty much no control over my machine. Otherwise I could use Perl's HTTP::Proxy module. This means no root password. It does run php though. I already have a server running on port 80. What I mean is I would like to put a php script as index.php on my server that will forward all requests. I don't want a script like PHProxy or Glype where I go to the site, then enter a URL. I want a server so I can enter proxy.example.com:80 in Firefox's or IE's or whatever's proxy settings and it will forward all requests to the server. Preferably (though not fatal if not possible) I would like for it to pass on the USER_AGENT environmental variable (That's the browser) instead of setting itself to be the USER_AGENT I can't start a new Daemon. My server won't allow it. Is there a script that will do this? If so, which?

  Does MySql 5.1 and SQL Server 2008 (Web edition, Standard) have any functional password limitations other than length limits? Are metacharacters in any form a bad idea to use, like bang, pipe, hash, any slash, carrot, and so on? I know that MySql 5.1 has a password length limitation of 16 characters that is hardcoded, but I was wondering, are any metacharacters (i.e. non alphanumerics) a bad idea to use? And is this true in SQL Server 2008 Web edition, Standard? So specifically: can symbols like: /`~:}{[]^ be used successfully? I would hope it doesn't matter to the database, but I don't understand enough about password storage in enterprise database systems yet to know for sure, and I was looking for confirmation or an explanation.

• mysql_real_escape_string & slashes (again, oh yes)

  Righto, firstly magic quotes & runtime are disabled correctly in php.ini, and confirmed by phpinfo(). PHP version: 5.3.4 MySQL version: 5.1.52 I'm only use mysql_real_escape_string on the data, after htmlspecialchars and a trim, that's all the data cleaning on the variable. Yet, when I submit a single quote, the slash remains in the database. When running mysql_query I'm using "' . $var . '", although in the past this hasn't changed anything (could be due to the double quotes?). Any ideas? and please don't tell me about PDO/prepared statements, I'm aware of them and I have my reasons for doing it this way. Thanks!

• SQL Server 2008, Books Online, and old documentation...

  [I have no idea if stackoverflow really is right right place for this, but don't know how many devs on here run into msi issues with SQL Server; suggest SuperUser or ServerFault if folk think it's better on either of those] About a year ago, when we were looking at moving our codebase forward and migrating to SQL Server 2008, I pulled down a copy of Books Online from the MSDN. Reviewed, did background research, fed results upstream, grabbed Express and tinkered with that. Then we got the nod to move forward (hurrah!) this past couple of weeks. So armed with Developer Edition, and running through the install, I've since found out I've zapped the Books Online MSI, no-ones got a copy of it, and Microsoft only have a later version (Oct 2009) available, so damned if I can update my SQL Server fully and properly... {mutter grumble}. Does anyone know if old versions of Books Online are available for download anywhere? Poking around the Microsoft download centre can't find it, neither is my google-fu finding it. For reference, I'm looking for SQLServer2008_BOL_August2008_ENU.msi ... This may just be a case of good ol' manual delete the files and (try) and clean up the registry :-(

• JavaScript Fails to load content correctly on start

  I have inherited an image gallery constructed using javascript. I believe it uses a variation of JQuery, but it seems to have been heavily edited. The gallery loads the first image on page load. Each image has comments below them. There are forward and backward arrows that move between images. The problem I seem to have is that if there is a comment on image one, it is not loaded on page start, the only way to get it to display is to click forward to the next image, then click back to image one. The comment is then shown. All the comments are loaded into a script in the header under var sent_comments = [{COMMENTS}] The comment HTML code on loading is as follows; <div id="comments_container"> <div id="comments"> </div> </div> Once I have clicked to image two and then back to image one, the code is; <div id="comments_container"> <div id="comments"> SOME COMMENT </div> </div> Previous image button is: <a class="prev save_state" href="#"> <img src="/next.png?" alt="Next"> </a> Im new to javascript so not really sure what I will need to do to ensure the comment is loaded for the first image when the page loads.   I have two classes whose functions take typedefed pointers to eachother as return values and parameters. How can I forward declare the Ptr and PtrConst typedefs while keeping these typedefs internal to the class (i.e. I would like to write Location::Ptr to refer to the location pointer type)? • One controller with multiple models? Am I doing this correctly?

  My web app, up until this point, has been fairly straight forward. I have Users, Contacts, Appointments and a few other things to manage. All of these are easy - it's just one model per section so I just did a scaffold for each, then modified the scaffolded code to fit my need. Pretty easy... Unfortunately I am having a problem on this next section because I want the 'Financials' section of my app to be more in depth than the other sections which I simply scaffolded. For example, when the user clicks the 'Contacts' link on the navigation bar, it just shows a list of contacts, pretty straight forward and is in line with the scaffold. However, when the user clicks the 'Financials' link on the navigation bar, I want to show the bank accounts on the left of the page and a few of the transactions on the right. So the financials tab will basically work with data from two models: transactions and bank_accounts. I think I should make the models (transactions & bank_accounts) and then make a controller called Financials, then I can query the models from the Financials controller and display the pages in app/views/financials/ Am I correct in this app layout? I have never worked with more than the basics of scaffolding so I want to ensure I get this right! Thank you!
