  • Over-scan Issues when using HDTV through VGA

    Right now all we can do is set the TV to 1280x768 instead of its native resolution of 1360x768. Setting it to its native resolution gives you a screen with a large portion of the left side of the screen cut off. We've tried everything with the TV so now we're turning to the innards of Ubuntu in hopes of fixing this. The computer is using an NVIDIA GeForce GT240.   • Has anyone had issues with Google Analyticator authenticating?

    I'm using Analyticator on a site and am having an issue. I am getting an error (see below) when I go to authenticate from the settings panel on Analyticator. The structure on this is a bit different and I think that's what is causing it. The website is on a subdomain which is hosted on a different server than the top-level domain. The analytics account on google only has the subdomain listed. Is it possible that the reason for the error is that the primary domain either: A. doesn't have an Analytics account or B. does have an Analytics account but it is not linked to the Analytics account of the subdomain? The page you have requested cannot be displayed. Another site was requesting access to your Google Account, but sent a malformed request. Please contact the site that you were trying to use when you received this message to inform them of the error. A detailed error message follows: The site "http://xxxxx.com" has not been registered.

    I am having an issue where an object with a byte[20] is being passed into a BlockingCollection on one thread and another thread returning the object with a byte[0] using BlockingCollection.Take(). I think this is a threading issue but I do not know where or why this is happening considering that BlockingCollection is a concurrent collection. Sometimes on thread2, myclass2.mybytes equals byte[0]. Any information on how to fix this is greatly appreciated.   • Neverending issues with grub (ubuntu 14.04 on ASUS with Win8 dual boot)

    This is the most frustrating issue I have ever run into using Ubuntu and Windows in the same machine. I have an ASUS K46CB, 6GB RAM and preinstalled Windows 8.1 64-bits. I have successfully installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, also 64-bits. To do so,I followed this tutorial whenever possible. I only failed on the disable secure boot part: there is no 'Secure-boot' or even UEFI mention in my BIOS! Screenshots from other BIOS of the same model show the option under Boot, but in mine there is absolutely none. Because of this, I cannot boot into Ubuntu. The computer loads straight into Windows. I tried running boot repair, but got an error (i can show the log, but it's pretty long). Does anyone know how to fix this issue? UPDATE I reinstalled Ubuntu. Same problem, goes straight to Window. Boot-Repair informs me that i am using Windows in Legacy mode. It excecuted with no errors this time, but after restarting GRUB was still missing. I can't turn off Secure Boot yet. UPDATE I tried using Boot Repair to install grub on a boot-grub 1mb partition. Still boots straight to windows. I feel like punching something

  • Workspace Issues on ubuntu 12.10

    I'm having the following problem with 12.10 Unity running on a Toshiba A505 16" display laptop using an external 24" Samsung LED monitor (resolution 1920 x 1080 (16:9). Also using the default 2 x 2 workspaces: After powering up the laptop, I Click the Workspace Switcher and the 4 images which represent Workspace 1, Workspace 2, Workspace 3, and Workspace 4 are visible but are in a very elongated, stretched out aspect ratio. Also, any desktop icons placed on the left side of the screen don't show up when I go to full view on any of the 4 workspaces. To resolve this issue, I open up the laptop lid until the video display switches from the external Samsung LED monitor to the internal laptop display, which renders the four workspaces perfectly. I then close the laptop lid and now the workspaces display the correct aspect view; both in the workspace switcher thumbnail view an in full view. I can now see the full desktop, including any desktop icons. Is there a way to configure my system so that Workspaces work properly when the laptop is connected to an external monitor without having to open and close my laptop? Thank you.

  • IE HTML Debugger Causing Issues with IE Enhanced Security

    In an effort to debug a Silverlight component on a page in SharePoint I opened the Developer Tools in Internet Explorer.  After choosing the Find > Select Element by Click option my page refreshed for some reason and a small bar appeared at the top of the page reading: You may be trying to access this site from a secured browser on the server. Please enable scripts and reload this page. After a quick look around the internet, some seemed to be suggesting that you have to disable the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration (IE ESC) in Server Manager.  Since this is one of the very first things I do when creating a VM, I figured the solution did not apply to me.  However, I decided to go ahead and enable IE ESC and then disable it again to see if that would fix the problem, and it did.  So if you see that error message in IE, the bar and you've already got IE ESC disabled, you can just enable it and disable it to get rid of the bar.

    On Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit, after watching a video on VLC, I started getting screen freezes and unresponsive keyboard, and the mouse moves but clicking it doesn't do anything. I created a bug (1055240) and provided additional information but I'm not sure what happens next. I ran apport-collect 1055240 as suggested and somewhere during that process it told me to ask my question on Ask Ubuntu. So I'm wondering if y'all can tell me what I need to do? AFAIK I have provided the additional information that was requested. My PC is getting close to the point of becoming unusable- I just don't know which flash video is going to be the next one to cause it to lock up :-(

    I have been working with a nice Gent but I am getting stuck. I am just getting back in to Linux and Ubuntu was recommended. I like the look so far but the wireless isn't working I run the update and when it says complete it hangs at the end. Please let me know what to do at this point.   • Domain mapping issues

    I have two domain names - .com & .co.uk bought with 123-reg and just one student Windows hosting pack associated with the .co.uk domain. The .com domain is the main one which people would be trying to access, so I just mapped the domain to the hosting this morning. The problem is that I would really like it to be functional by tomorrow morning and the usual waiting time is 24-48 hours. Is there point in stopping the process and trying with forward it with CNAME record instead, does it take less time? (I can just go back and do proper domain mapping during the weekend) Also, is there a possible way to check whether the domain mapping has been done correctly before these 24-48 hours? From some computers I get 404 Error on homepage.

    I am experiencing one more problem with my Ubuntu 12.04... I have an External HD (500GB) which is NTFS formatted. I connected this HD on my Ubuntu 12.04 and copied some files. When I connected the HD on a Windows 7 machine I could find the folders (the were visible) but I wasn't able to copy/cut/delete them. However when I opened the folders I could handle the material (mp3s) in them. Does anybody know how can I fix this? How can I fully access and modify folders copied from Ubuntu via a Windows machine?   • A* PathFinding Poor Performance

    After debugging for a few hours, the algorithm seems to be working. Right now to check if it works i'm checking the end node position to the currentNode position when the while loop quits. So far the values look correct. The problem is, the farther I get from the NPC, who is current stationary, the worse the performance gets. It gets to a point where the game is unplayable less than 10 fps. My current PathGraph is 2500 nodes, which I believe is pretty small, right?   • Issues running alongside windows and connecting to wireless network

    Okay so I'm trying to get started with ubuntu but I'm encountering a couple problems: When I boot up the CD and try to install, it does not recognize that I have windows 7 installed and just sees it as unallocated space so the only way I've been able to install it is by wiping the drive which was fine, but it'd be nice to be able to boot either. And secondly, I cannot figure out how to get wireless working. When I try to connect on the initial installation process it tells me to connect to my adapter and just asks for a password. I suspect it could be a driver issue but I wouldn't know where to find it. I have an AR9485 atheros adapter and am attempting to run ubuntu 14.04. Thanks
