I search in Google and various Linux or Ubuntu forums, But I can't find any solution, just one thing... that is "gvfs-gdu-volume" cause nautilus left panel show other partitions which didn't mounted. but when I see top there isn't this program. who can I solve this problem? how nautilus can show other partitions or drives in its left panel once again?

    I'm having trouble coming up with a regular expression to match a particular case. I have a list of tv shows in about 4 formats: Name.Of.Show.S01E01 Name.Of.Show.0101 Name.Of.Show.01x01 Name.Of.Show.101 What I want to match is the show name. My main problem is that my regex matches the name of the show with a preceding '.'. I was input password for email or another services, which registed with "[email protected]", but it's still "incorect". I can close but next time, it appears again. It never appeared before 13.10.   • PS2 keyboard scroll wheel doesn't show up on xev, how to make it work?

    I have a ps2 keyboard that has a scroll wheel on the side, it doesn't work on Ubuntu 12.04 so I though to just check xev and map the correct key. But xev doesn't show up anything when moving the scroll wheel. The keyboard is this one (A4Tech KBS-26), it works fine on Windows without adding any extra driver. On linux most buttons work, multimedia, calculator, browser, etc. The only thing that doesn't work is the scroll wheel and copy/paste/cut/undo buttons, and they don't show up on xev either. Does someone knows how to make it work?

  • How do I get Chromium to show PDFs using Evince?

    Is there any way to get Chromium to use a mozpluggerrc/evince combination to show PDFs embedded into its own window? Right now, Chromium is just downloading PDFs. I can open them in an external evince window by clicking on the downloaded file. I am using Chrome 18.0.1025.168 under Ubuntu 12.04 (amd64). Here's the pdf section of my /etc/mozpluggerrc.d/62-documents.conf: application/pdf:pdf:PDF file application/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file text/pdf:pdf:PDF file text/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file repeat noisy swallow(evince) fill needs_xembed: evince "$file" mozpluggerrc does show up in about:plugins. BTW, this works just fine in Firefox. Note: I am not looking for hints on how to use Google Chrome's PDF plugin in Chromium.

Similar to a slide-show. Basically the code allows me to click on an image and hide/show a DIV, while changing a list of elements such as class/id name.     We're using Rails 3.0.7 and REE 1.8.7. Long-term, we will be upgrading, but at the moment it's not feasible. Following the advice of several blog posts, we've been tuning our GC, and have settings that work pretty well. But we would really like to run GC outside of the request-response cycle. I've tried patching Passenger per this post, and using the code supplied in this SO question. In both cases, GC does indeed happen between requests.   • How do I make a USB RS232 dongle show up in /dev/ttyUSB* ?

    I have a couple of FTDI based USB to Rs232 serial dongles. Sometimes when I plug them into my Ubuntu 10.04 laptop, they show up as /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1, which is what I want to have happen. But sometimes they don't. When they don't, sometimes rebooting fixes the problem and sometimes it doesn't. They always show up in lsusb hanging off of Bus 5: Bus 005 Device 003: ID 0403:6001 Future Technology Devices International, Ltd FT232 USB-Serial (UART) IC Bus 005 Device 002: ID 0403:6001 Future Technology Devices International, Ltd FT232 USB-Serial (UART) IC Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub I can see them if I do ls /dev/bus/usb/005 as 002 and 003. But if I pass /dev/bus/usb/005/002 to pyserial, which is what I'm using to access /dev/ttyUSBx, I get SerialException("Could not open port: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/dev/bus/usb/005/002'",).

    I am an active user of workspaces in Ubuntu. Until recently, pressing Ctrl+Alt+D (show desktop) acted only on the current workspace. For example, one might want to minimize the applications in the current workspace, open a file, and then bring some of them back. The current implementation works on all workspaces uniformly which is counter-intuitive to me. The reason for the existence of workspaces is the separation of logic -- one can have a browser open in one workspace, a text editor in another, a terminal in a third. The current functionality goes against this idea. Is there a way to restrict the action of the show desktop command to a single workspace only?

  • MySQL - Why would SHOW SLAVE HOSTS cause a binlog dump?

    We're getting loads of binlog files in our MySQL 5.0.x. We have a normal master/slave replication thing going with 1 master, 1 slave. Looking at /var/log/mysql.log, nearly 90% of the time the replicator connects and does a SHOW SLAVE HOSTS causes a bin log dump. For example: 7020 Query SHOW SLAVE HOSTS 7020 Binlog Dump Log: 'mysql-bin.029634' Pos: 13273 However when I do a SHOW SLAVE HOSTS on the mysql myself, I get no results. Occasionally when the replicator does a SHOW SLAVE HOSTS, mysql will hang for hours. I see nothing in the /var/log/syslog at the same time... What's going on here? How can I debug this more? For the record the MySQL master and slave servers are ubuntu dapper.

    I have a very specific situation... I have a client who has a site, backed by a celebrity, selling a comment product.... so imagine my site is all about "Martha Stewart used cars" (that's not it-- but you get the idea). My client wants to see their site show up ASAP in Google search results. While I'm waiting for organic search to kick in and recognize my site, index it properly, etc, I want to buy some adwords for keywords like "Martha Stewart used cars" and "Martha Stewart used car" and so forth and have the ads show up on the 1st page of search results. I've done this. The problem is that many, many other advertisers have set up ads on the keyword "used cars" so my Martha-specific ads never are shown. Even when I bid specifically on the keyword phrase "Martha Stewart used cars" and I enter that directly into Google, it doesn't show my ad. SO MY QUESTION.... how/what can I do to get my ads to show... or really, can I do anything else to get my client's site to show on the result page? (I'm not interested in anything black-hat or illegal; I'm just trying to throw some resources at this situation so when those folks looking SPECIFICALLY for "Martha Stewart used cars" will get to the site quickly.) thanks-- Eric

  • How Many Google +1's Does a Website need in order for Google WebMaster's Tools to Show Characteristics

    I have added the Google +1 Button to my website and discovered the new Social Activity section in Google WebMaster's Tools. Apparently, one of the interesting things you can learn about your audience is demographic data. But in GWT, the Social Activity Audience section for my site (currently 82 +1's), says the following: Your site doesn’t have enough +1's yet to show characteristics But I'm not sure how many +1's is enough. Google's official help page for the Audience section offers little insight: The Audience page displays information about people who have +1'd your pages, including the total number of unique users, their location, and their age and gender. All information is anonymized; Google doesn't share personal information about people who have +1’d your pages. To protect privacy, Google won't display age, gender, or location data unless a certain minimum number of people have +1'd your content. But what is that "certain minimum number"? I've tried Googling this but all I could find to date was this page which doesn't answer the question. So how many +1's does a site need before GWT will show me audience demographic characteristics?

  • Grub menu will not show the first time I try to boot my ubuntu server 12.04 after it is shutdown for a long time

    I am running into a booting issue after installing Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS. Following is the symptom of the problem. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION: Dual core AMD Athlon 64 3 Disks: two SATA (out of which one is SSD) and one PATA. Using LVM for disk partition management. /boot is not under LVM rest of the partitions are. / is on the SSD BIOS boot sequence is correct and points to the disk with /boot and boot loader is installed on this disk. SYMPTOMS: POST messages Blinking cursor on first line then moves to second line Screen flickers then becomes black Everything is unresponsive, hard reboot POST messages will not show up on screen. Monitor displays powersave message Force shutdown machine again. Shutoff power to machine for a few minutes. Restart machine. POST message show up. Grub menu shows up Ubuntu server 12.04 boots normally. From now on Ubuntu server boots normally until machine is shutdown for a long time (for example, 30 mins) Repeat steps 1 through 13 once the machine is started after a long time. WHAT DID I TRY? I read several posts and have tried: radeon.modeset=0 setting the gfxmode edd=0 nolacpi boot-repair Nothing seems to work. In my search I did see only one post with this same symptom. Unfortunately, I am not being able to locate that post anymore. The interesting fact is that with this same machine configuration, if I install Ubuntu Desktop 12.04 then everything works fine. Any help will be appreciated.

    I want to override the default integer constructors in Haskell so they produce strings (mostly for curiosity, but temporarily to make a nice input alternative for LaTeX's \frac{}{} inconvenience). I want to override Show for A, but it seems to be quite a headache...

    I need to implements splash screen in my honeycomb app. I use this code in activity's onCreate to show splash: setContentView(R.layout.splash); getActionBar().hide(); and this code to show main UI after some time: setContentView(R.layout.main); getActionBar().show(); But before onCreate is called and splash appears, there is small amount of time when action bar shown. How can I made it not to show? I tried to apply theme to activity without action bar: <item name="android:windowActionBar">false</item> but in that case getActionBar() always returns null and I found no way to show it again.

    I'm looking for a way to show/hide an arbitrary RichFaces component. In this case, I have a <rich:dataTable> that contains several rows. Each row needs to have it's own, independent Show/Hide link, such that when you click "Show details", two things happen: The "Show details" link is re-rendered as "Hide details" The associated detailsColumn is displayed. Furthermore, detailsColumns should be hidden by default (effectively rendered="true" to the client but hidden with style="display: none;"). I don't want to write my own JavaScript functions if it's not absolutely necessary. I also don't want to have a server-side bean keep track of which detailColumns are being displayed, and subsequently re-render everything over AJAX: this should be purely client-side behavior. I'm not sure how to accomplish that. I tried searching for something like docky-extras in aptitude and synaptic package manager and tried different terms and combination but seems like there is no such thing. So how can I add the missing docklet?

    LightDM only changes wallpapers if I have selected one of the default wallpapers. If I choose another image from my pictures, LightDM shows the default wallpaper. Why is this happening, and how can I make LightDM show my wallpaper if it is not one of the defaults? As @doug said in his answer, it works if you click on the little + symbol in the appearance settings: after you do that, LightDM changes wallpapers.
