Chrome not selecting correct language for Help tab

When I click Help in Chrome, a new tab appears with the Google help links etc as expected, but I have a message saying: "This Help Centre is not currently available in your language...", etc. The drop down box at the bottom is not selected correctly for en-GB (my location). Instead it is set at the first language on the list. This happens if I am signed in to my Google account or not. Selecting English from the drop-down works ok, so no great drama. Just wondering if anybody else sees this behaviour? EDIT: Using current stable build 8.0.552.224

Command+tab, expose and many other functions stop working after screen sharing

When I'm away from my office mac I typically login via screen-sharing or VNC from home/another mac. Lately, after using screen sharing this way, my office mac will have several problems: Command+tab and Command+` no longer work Expose and other F-key functions no longer work ctrl+space to launch Google QSB no longer works Things I have tried to remedy this: Restarting the Finder process Restarting the Dock process Disabling the screensaver Unfortunately, the screensaver still runs... A connected issue? Deleting preference files for Dock/Finder/screensaver etc. The only thing that seems to work is a restart. I usually try and avoid that. System details: Macbook pro 13" OS v10.5.8

I want to ask why there is only me on Task Manager's Users tab. Originally I wanted to be able to chat with other clients on my local network using msg command, but I can't found any other user. How to see other users on the same network? I use Work Network, and all of the users is using wifi to connect. I googled about it, but no information is close enough. "Press Tab to search <site>" in Chrome not working

The problem After partially entering a URL like meta.st, Chrome adds in the rest of the URL slected in blue and says "Press Tab to search Meta Stack Overflow". But on pressing, it just moves the cursor to the next item like in a normal text-field. Other info I'm on Windows 7 Home Basic. My Chrome version number is 22.0.1229.52 beta-m (beta channel). This was working before. What I've tried I've reported it in Chrome (by going to Options Tools Report an issue...). I've also tried deleting all my custom search engines (they might've been interfering) and also tried creating a new profile. I also googled, but to no avail. How do I fix this? Thanks.

ALT+TAB doesn't work properly in Windows 8.1

Holding ALT+TAB will activate the flip 2D to switch from a window to another. The problem is that this function remains active for a very short time and I'm not able to select the window I want in the foreground. I also noticed that when I put the cursor on an icon on the taskbar, the live preview thumbnail disappears quickly. With a safe mode restart the problem is no longer there, all is fine! With a clean install of Windows 8.1(no driver and applications installed) the problem is here again; obviously disappears with a safe mode restart also in this situation. What's the problem? A Windows process or service?

No matter that in Settings → Basics → On startup, I have selected Open the home page Home page is set to my internal address Chrome still opens with two tabs: my Home page and a Sign in tab (in foreground!). How do I disable this Sign in thing? I do not ever want to use it. The version I'm using is Chrome 18.0.1025.168. (For purposes of testing, I'm intentionally using older version.)

SQL 05 full-text query fails "Specified module could not be found."

I'm running SQL 2005 on Windows XP. I have a database table that has full text searching enabled. I was able to build and even re-build the index. However, when I try to query it like this: Select * from fulltext_english WHERE CONTAINS(page_data, 'causes') I get this error: Msg 7619, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 The execution of a full-text query failed. "The specified module could not be found." Did I miss something on the install? Is this a dll issue? I've googled and binged for days and can't find anything similar to this message. Thanks!

Changing the Settings item description text color in Android?

I use a Samsung Vibrant, and one of the annoying bits that Samsung tossed on their TouchWiz skin was changing the color of the Settings menu item description text from white (AOSP) to light blue. This looks okay as long as the skin is bluey-themed, but most ROMs seem to be leaning toward Gingerbread clones... doesn't look good with the green. How can I change that settings description font color back to white, or even the orange it is in actual Android 2.3? Which xml file is the color property located in? It seems to also spread to all apps you install, too... the blue text.

I am using the h5py python package to read files in HDF5 format. (e.g. somefile.h5) I would like to write the contents of a dataset to a text file. For example, I would like to create a text file with the following contents: 1,20,31,75,142,324,78,12,3,90,8,21,1 I am able to access the dataset in python using this code: import h5py f = h5py.File('/Users/Me/Desktop/thefile.h5', 'r') group = f['/level1/level2/level3'] dset = group['dsetname'] My naive approach is too slow, because my dataset has over 20000 entries: # write all values to file for index in range(len(dset)): # do not add comma after last value if index == len(dset)-1: txtfile.write(repr(dset[index])) else: txtfile.write(repr(dset[index])+',') txtfile.close() return None Is there a faster way to write this to a file? Bash: any command to replace strings in text files?

I have a hierarchy of directories containing many text files. I would like to search for a particular text string every time it comes up in one of the files, and replace it with another string. For example, I may want to replace every occurrence of the string "Coke" with "Pepsi". Does anyone know how to do this? I am wondering if there is some sort of Bash command that can do this without having to load all these files in an editor, or come up with a more complex script to do it. I found this page explaining a trick using sed, but it doesn't seem to work in files in subdirectories.

I've inherited some C# code that contains about a thousand lines of source that I need to modify, transforming it from this: newDataRow["to_dir"] = comboBox108.Text; To this: assetAttributes.Add("to_dir", comboBox108.Text); The lines occur in various places throughout the application in groups of 40 or 50. Modifying each line by hand in Visual Studio 2008 can be done but it's labor intensive and prone to errors. Is there a Windows utility out there that will let me cut and paste groups of code into it and then run some sort of reg-ex expression to transform the individual lines one-by-one? I'd also be willing to use some sort of VS 2008 add-in that performed the same set of reg-ex operations against a selection of code. Thanks in advance.

I've got an html table: <table><tr> <td>M1</td> <td>M2</td> <td>M3</td> <td>M4</td> </tr></table> and a simple jQ script: $('td').click(function(){ alert( $(this).html() ); }); That works just fine.... but in the real world, I've got several hundred table cells and the code is formatted improperly in places because of several people editing the page. So if the html is: <td> M1 </td> then the alert() is giving me all the tabs and returns and spaces: What can I do to get ONLY the text without the tabs and spaces? I've tried .html(), .val(), .text() to no avail. Thanks!

I created a simple tab control that has 2 tabs (each tab is a different dialog). The thing is that i don't have any idea how to switch between tabs (when the user presses Titlu Tab1 to show the dialog i made for the first tab, and when it presses Titlu Tab2 to show my other dialog). I added a handler for changing items, but i don't know how should i acces some kind of index or child for tabs. Tab1.h and Tab2.h are headers for dialogs that show only static texts with the name of the each tab. There may be an obvious answer to my question, but i am a real newbie in c++ and MFC. Need to open links in new tab in ie8 !

I have a sidebar (right sided iframe) and when i click on a link in it, it opens a new window in IE8, (in firefox it open a new tab). What do i need to do to open links in IE8 in a new tab. I already set the Tools-Internet Options-Settings- 'Always open pop-ups in a new tab' and 'A new tab in the current window' open in new tab but still doesn't work. My links are pretty simple, what am i missing ? exemple: text. Also some site are saying to register Regsvr32 actxprxy.dll to fix this problem, still doesn't work. And i want this to work with a simple click, no 'right-click-open in new tab' option. I also hope i won't get the 'can't change how ie8 works' answer. ;)

Can't change text color in Microsoft Word 2010

I have Microsoft Office 2010 32-bit running on Windows 7 32-bit. When text is highlighted and a color is selected from the mini-toolbar or the ribbon, the text does not change color. If I change the color for multiple words, and select a different color for each word, the toolbar and ribbon will reflect each of the different colors that I chose, however it is not displayed in the document. So it appears that Word is aware of the text color and not as if it is simply not applying the change. What may be causing this inability to view text colors and how might I fix it? My only troubleshooting attempt so far has been to perform a repair installation of Office. EDIT 1 I created a document, typed a word, selected it and changed the color. I then saved the document as HTML. The text did not change color. Oddly, I had some strange issues while the macro was recorded. I could not select text with my cursor. I had to select the text with control a and then apply the color change. I then couldn't deselect the selected text. Nonetheless, the text showed that it had a different color in the toolbar, but the color did not display in the document. Here's the macro: Sub Change_Text_Color() ' ' Change_Text_Color Macro ' ' Selection.TypeText Text:="Test Text" Selection.WholeStory Selection.WholeStory End Sub EDIT 3 I opened WordPad and created some text and was able to successfully change the color. If I copy and paste the colored text into a Word 2010 document, the color is lost. However, if you place the I-beam in the text and then look at the color selection drop-down menu on the ribbon or mini-toolbar, you can see that the proper color that the text should be in is highlighted. Edit 4 I uninstalled the entire Office 2010 Suite, rebooted and then reinstalled the suite. No change in behavior. Edit 5 Text cannot be colored in Excel either.

One of the items he led with...and concluded with...was a recommendation on optimizing your search collection if you are using full-text searching with the Oracle database. This can greatly improve your search performance. And this would apply to both Oracle Text Search and DATABASE.FULLTEXT search methods. Peter describes how a collection can become fragmented over time as content is added, updated, and deleted. Just like you should defragment your hard drive from time to time to get your files placed on the disk in the most optimal way, you should do the same for the search collection. One of the items he led with...and concluded with...was a recommendation on optimizing your search collection if you are using full-text searching with the Oracle database. This can greatly improve your search performance. And this would apply to both Oracle Text Search and DATABASE.FULLTEXT search methods. Peter describes how a collection can become fragmented over time as content is added, updated, and deleted. Just like you should defragment your hard drive from time to time to get your files placed on the disk in the most optimal way, you should do the same for the search collection. While the article mentions scheduling the job weekly, Peter says he now is recommending this be run daily, especially on more active systems. And just as a reminder, be sure to involve your DBA with your WebCenter Content implementation as you go to production and over time. We recently had a customer complain of slow performance of the application when it was discovered the database was starving for memory. So it's always helpful to keep a watchful eye on your database.

I am trying to get e-text editor to run. I read http://www.e-texteditor.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=14953#14953 and Compile e-text editor on Linux as well.
