• Possible to redirect from HTTPS to HTTP behind load-balancer?

  I have a basic ASP.NET application that sits behind an F5 load-balancer. Incoming SSL requests (over HTTPS) terminate at the load-balancer and all internal communication between the load-balancer and my application servers is unsecure (over HTTP). When a unsecure request comes in, my app is able to use Response.Redirect("https://...") to redirect a secure URL with no problems. However, the other direction appears to be impossible - I cannot redirect from HTTPS to HTTP using Response.Redirect() from my application. The URL remains HTTPS for the client and does not change. Could the F5 be preventing the redirect for ever reaching the client? Is there any special configuration necessary to let this happen?

  I tried to reinstall Windows XP to Windows 7, but I could not install the video card drivers because the driver installation software only works on XP.I have launched the setup program with XP mode. After I installed the setup, I restarted the computer and Windows 7 wasn't booting.But that isn't the problem why I asked this question. The problem is that I have reinstalled my Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows XP SP3 and I wanted to install Dameon Tools.After installation I restarted the PC (as the setup wanted) and when the Daemon Tools launches it shows the error: Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). Click OK to terminate the application.

• Can I pass HTTPS traffic from one port to another?

  I'm doing a proxy_pass in nginx on port 80 to 8000 on my remote server, and then a port forward from 8000 to 80 from the remote to my localhost. This works great, but I'd also like to do it with https but it seems like nginx needs a valid cert to pass the traffic on. Is there a way for my remote server to simply forward the trafic from port 443 to say 8443 (and then I'll forward remote 8443 to local 443). Then terminate ssl on my development machine instead instead of needing to do it on the remote server? My remote runs ubuntu and my localhost runs osx.

• Terminal Server Spoolsv.exe error

  We are having a terminal server ibm x3650 with 8 gb of RAM. On many occasions, at least once in a day, we get the error "The instruction at "0x7c8199b2" refrenced memory at "0x9ddc2ade". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program. Click on CANCEL to debug the program. I have surfed very many sites, microsoft included, but none of them have been able to give conclusive solution for ending this problem. When we press on ok or cancel, then our ERP application (VB-MS SQL) starts to work normally. till such time the message is there, all our reports are hanged (Business Objects reports). We have already installed all the drivers of printers on the TS. Can anyone help?

• Amazon EC2 - Reserved Private Addresses

  I've got a private DNS Server running on Amazon EC2. I don't need a public IP Address because its only used for private addressing web1.xxx.internal database1.xxx.internal Problem is I had to terminate the instance recently and start a new one. This meant that the private IP address of the DNS server changed and I had to log in to each of my other 15 server one-by-one and change the DNS address to point to the new DNS server. There must be a better way to do this, if so, what is it?

• Configure a warning when starting an application on Windows

  I have some software that's licensed to be used on one computer at a time. It connects to a service and retrieves data from that service. If I start the application on a second computer then the first computer's data connection is terminated. There are times when I'll be running the software on Computer1 and it's doing some vital work with its data collection etc. and I'll forget that it's running there and start it on Computer2 causing Computer1's data connection to terminate etc. What I want to do is configure a warning on Computer2 so that each time I start this application it pops up a dialog box and says "Hey, this software might be running on another computer, are you sure you want to start it here?" I'm using Windows 7 on Computer2. Is there anyway for me to accomplish this task?

• 42 passed to TerminateProcess, sometimes GetExitCodeProcess returns 0

  After I get a handle returned by CreateProcess, I call TerminateProcess, passing 42 for the process exit code. Then, I use WaitForSingleObject for the process to terminate, and finally I call GetExitCodeProcess. None of the function calls report errors. The child process is an infinite loop and does not terminate on its own. The problem is that sometimes GetExitCodeProcess returns 42 for the exit code (as it should) and sometimes it returns 0. • Spring Framework 3 and session attributes

  I have form object that I set to request in GET request handler in my Spring controller. First time user enters to page, a new form object should be made and set to request. If user sends form, then form object is populated from request and now form object has all user givern attributes. Then form is validated and if validation is ok, then form is saved to database. If form is not validated, I want to save form object to session and then redirect to GET request handling page. When request is redirected to GET handler, then it should check if session contains form object. • WPF - LayoutUpdated event firing repeatedly

  I've been adding a bit of animation to my WPF application. Thanks to Dan Crevier's unique solution to animating the children of a panel combined with the awesome WPF Penner animations it turned out to be fairly straightforward to make one of my controls look great and have its children move about with some nice animation. Unfortunately this all comes with a performance overhead. I'm happy to have the performance hit when items are added/removed or the control is resized, but it seems that this perf hit occurs consistently throughout the application's lifetime, even when items are completely static. The PanelLayoutAnimator class uses an attached property to hook the UIElement.LayoutUpdated.aspx) event. When this event fires, render transforms are animated to cause the children to glide to their new positions. Unfortunately it seems that the LayoutUpdated event fires every second or so, even when nothing is happening in the application (at least I don't think my code's doing anything -- the app doesn't have focus and the mouse is steady.) As the reason for the event is not immediately apparent to the event handler, all children of the control have to be reevaluated. This event is being called about once a second when idle. The frequency increases when actually using the app. So my question is, how can I improve the performance here? Any answer that assists would be appreciated, but I'm currently stuck on these sub-questions: What causes the LayoutUpdated event to fire so frequently? Is this supposed to happen, and if not, how can I find out why it's firing and curtail it? Is there a more convenient way within the handler to know whether something has happened that might have moved children? If so, I could bail out early and avoid the overhead of looping each child. For now I will work around this issue by disabling animation when there are more than N children in the panel.

  I have implemented an IHttpAsyncHandler. I am making about 5 different AJAX calls from a webpage that has widgets to that handler. One of those widgets takes about 15 seconds to load(because of a large database query) the others should all load in under a second. The handler is responding in a synchronous manner. I am getting very inconsistent results. The ProcessRequest method is using Session and other class level variables. Could that be causing different requests to use the same thread instead each there own? I'm getting this... Request1 --- response 1 sec Request2 --- response 14 sec Request3 --- response 14.5 sec Request4 --- response 15 sec Request5 --- response 15.5 sec but I'm looking for something more like this... Request1 --- response 1 sec Request2 --- response 14 sec Request3 --- response 1.5 sec Request4 --- response 2 sec Request5 --- response 1.5 sec Without posting too much code my implementation of the IHttpAsyncHandler methods are pretty standard. private AsyncProcessorDelegate _Delegate; protected delegate void AsyncProcessorDelegate(HttpContext context); IAsyncResult IHttpAsyncHandler.BeginProcessRequest(HttpContext context, AsyncCallback cb, object extraData) { _Delegate = new AsyncProcessorDelegate(ProcessRequest); return _Delegate.BeginInvoke(context, cb, extraData); } void IHttpAsyncHandler.EndProcessRequest(IAsyncResult result) { _Delegate.EndInvoke(result); } Putting a debug break point in my IHttpAsyncHandler.BeginProcessRequest method I can see that the method isn't being fired until the last Process is complete. Also my machine.config has this entry... processModel autoConfig="true" with no other properties set. What else do I need to check for?

  I have a GridView in which each row has a custom view. The grid view adapter has an array that keeps the custom view. At click of a button, I want to remove a specific row from the Grid and while doing so I want animation on it. I have an AnimationListener. When I remove the upper most row from the array and setAdapter in onAnimationEnd(). It works perfectly fine. But, when I remove any other row, it gives a NullPointerException in the main thread.   Hi, We are planning a Biztalk 2009 set up in which we have 2 Biztalk Application Servers and 2 DB Servers (DB servers being in an Active/Passive Cluster). All servers are running Windows Server 2008 R2. As part of our application, we will have incoming traffic via the MSMQ, FILE and SOAP adapters. We also have a requirement for High-availability and Load-balancing. Let's say I create two different Biztalk Hosts and assign the FILE receive handler to the first one and the MSMQ receive handler to the second one. I now create two host instances for each of the two hosts (i.e. one for each of my two physical servers). After reviewing the Biztalk Documentation, this is what I know so far: For FILE (Receive), high-availablity and load-balancing will be achieved by Biztalk automatically because I set up a host instance on each of the two servers in the group. MSMQ (Receive) requires Biztalk Host Clustering to ensure high-availability (Host Clustering however requires Windows Failover Clustering to be set up as well). No loading-balancing option is clear here. SOAP (Receive) requires NLB to achieve Load-balancing and High-availability (if one server goes down, NLB will direct traffic to the other). This is where I'm completely puzzled and I desperately need your help: Is it possible to have a Windows Failover Cluster and NLB set up at the same time on the two application servers? If yes, then please tell me how. If no, then please explain to me how anyone is acheiving high-availability and load-balancing for MSMQ and SOAP when their underlying prerequisites are mutually exclusive! I'm migrating an existing WebForms app to MVC, so I need to keep the root of the site pointing to my existing aspx pages for now and only apply routing to named routes. Bottom line -- I'd like to simply redirect the root url path to an aspx of my choosing -- can anyone shed some light?

• Matplotlib pick event order for overlapping artists

  I'm hitting a very strange issue with matplotlib pick events. I have two artists that are both pickable and are non-overlapping to begin with ("holes" and "pegs"). When I pick one of them, during the event handling I move the other one to where I just clicked (moving a "peg" into the "hole"). Then, without doing anything else, a pick event from the moved artist (the peg) is generated even though it wasn't there when the first event was generated. My only explanation for it is that somehow the event manager is still moving through artist layers when the event is processed, and therefore hits the second artist after it is moved under the cursor. So then my question is - how do pick events (or any events for that matter) iterate through overlapping artists on the canvas, and is there a way to control it? I think I would get my desired behavior if it moved from the top down always (rather than bottom up or randomly). I haven't been able to find sufficient enough documentation, and a lengthy search on SO has not revealed this exact issue.
