  • Finding out what user Apache is running as?

    I want to secure a file upload directory on my server as described beautifully here, but I have one problem before I can follow these instructions. I don't know what user Apache is running as. I've found a suggestion that you can look in httpd.conf and there will be a "User" line, but there is no such line in my httpd.conf file, so I guess Apache is running as the default user. I can't find out what that is, though. So, my question is (are): how do I find out what the default user is do I need to change the default user if the answer is yes and I change the default user by editing httpd.conf, is it likely to screw anything up?     I'm trying to move the location of database files from /var/lib/mysql to /home/lib/mysql I only changing database files. Socket is still /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock (only changing datadir in my.cnf) Now, all data in /var/lib/mysql has been copied to /home/lib/mysql MySQL has been started and everything is fine. Now time to cleaning up data in /var/lib/mysql but I'm not sure what data can and cannot be removed in /var/lib/mysql this is data (except database name) in /var/lib/mysql: ibdata1 ib_logfile0 ib_logfile1 mysql

    I have a user named 'user' which I use to login to the ftp of my website. However, this presents me with a problem. If I want to allow my user to access to ftp, I have to typ the following: chown -R user:ftpusers /var/www/ By doing this, my website is no longer available when surfing to it. To make it available again, I have to typ the following command: chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/ the user 'user' is in both the ftpusers and www-data group. How can I fix this so I wouldn't have to typ this anymore? I'm using apache2 and vsftpd on ubuntu

  • Qmail Toaster and Squirrelmail SSL config location.

    I've been racking my brain and Google to try and find where the location of the SSL config is located for my Qmail / Squirrelmail install. I've installed SSL certs for Apache before, where I specify inside of the proper virtualhost section where the SSL cert is located, but am unable to find it for the services above. Inside of the httpd.conf, there are two include file additions which are for Qmail Toaster and Squirrelmail, but when I edit the files, they don't specify locations for the SSL cert they're using. thanks for the help!

  • computer and User Account Migrated using ADMT but not sending mail

    I have successfully migrated a User and Computer account using ADMT. The user is able to login to the computer with the new account and is able to open outlook receive mail but is not able to send internal or external mail. The Exchange server is still in the Old domain. The bounce back message received was that the user doesn't have permissions to send to the recipient. When I migrated the user I did migrate the SID history so why is mail not being about to be sent? The body of the bounce back message is as follows: Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. That means that some pages I want to be only accessible to certain people with the correct username and password. What's the best way to do this? Are there any available scripts out there?     I'm using Postfix with imap and pop servers running on ubuntu linux. I want to change the the location of Maildir folder from user's home directory to some other shared folder so that all mail is in one place. I also have problem sending local mails to users who does not have a home directory (e.g. www-data), the system users created by default. I'm getting the following error. postfix/local[32123]: DCE1D221BBD: to=<www-data@********>, orig_to=<www-data>, relay=local, delay=33, delays=33/0/0/0.12, dsn=5.2.0, status=bounced (maildir delivery failed: create maildir file /var/www/Maildir/tmp/1382169296.P32123.********: Permission denied) I'd like to have a folder structure similar to this: /all-mail/<user-name>/<mail-goes-here>

  • Lubuntu Desktop messed up for logged in user, but not for guest

    I recently upgraded my laptop from Lubuntu 12.04 to 14.04.1 and the upgrade process seemed to go fine. However, when I went to login as my normal user, I encountered an issue. The background loaded up, but none of LXDE or LXPanel showed up, leaving me with an empty desktop and nothing else except two errors. I thought that this was weird, so I just figured something had been messed up and would be fixed by a reboot. But it wasn't. I then tried logging in as guest, and it's just fine. I checked the ~/.xsession-errors file (for my main user, not guest, did it via TTY1) and this is what I got: Script for ibus started at run_im. Script for auto started at run_im. Script for default started at run_im. init: Unable to register as subreaper: Invalid argument init: lxsession main process (1649) killed by TERM signal init: Disconnected from notified D-Bus bus init: job dbus failed to stop init: job upstart-dbus-session-bridge failed to stop init: job upstart-dbus-system-bridge failed to stop init: job upstart-file-bridge failed to stop I also read the sometimes removing the ~/.Xauthority file can help, if the ownership is messed up. ls -l /home/MYUSER/.Xauthority tells me -rw------- 1 MYUSER MYUSER 60 Aug 16 09:57 /home/MYUSER/.Xauthority. Should that be root or something else, or should I try deleting that and ~/.profile.   • Report Builder 2.0 - Creating DataSet - User Not Authorized

    Hello, we are currently using SQL Server Reporting Services and we would like to use Report Builder so our customers can create reports themselves. I have created a User on the server. I have added this user to the SQLServerMSSQLUser and SQLServerReportServerUser groups. I have given this User db_datareader access to the required database and to the Reporting Services database. I've also tried giving the User db_owner access to the Reporting Services db's. And on the Report Manager, this User is a System_User, but has all access (every checkbox is checked). When I connect using Report Builder, I can select the Report Model to create a DataSource, but when I try to create a DataSet, I get the following error: An error occurred while connection to datasource 'DataSource1'. The details are: 'User Not Authorized'. Does anyone know what server permissions I forgot to set? I'm assuming it's a Windows permissions issue because I do not see any database login errors in the event logs.

  • bash profile works for user but not sudo

    I've modified my .profile to include a folder if a flash drive is plugged in. When running the command as the user it works fine but tells me the scrip must be run by sudo (this is what i want). However, when i try to run it with sudo i get "command not found" I have a symlink (flash) in my /var/www folder pointing to my /media/flash drive. (nevermind this setup since is just for dev) this is my user's .profile : # set PATH so it includes flash scripts if [ -d "/var/www/flash/scripts" ] ; then PATH="/var/www/flash/scripts:$PATH" fi when trying to run as sudo i get: sudo: script: command not found any ideas?

  • Is there a POSIX pathname that can't name a file?

    Are there any legal paths in POSIX that cannot be associated with a file, regular or irregular? That is, for which test -e "$LEGITIMATEPOSIXPATHNAME" cannot succeed? Clarification #1: pathnames By "legal paths in POSIX", I mean ones that POSIX says are allowed, not ones that POSIX doesn't explicitly forbid. I've looked this up, and the are POSIX specification calls them character strings that: Use only characters from the portable filename character set [a-zA-Z0-9._-] (cf. http://www.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/009695399/basedefs/xbd_chap03.html#tag_03_276); Do not begin with -; and Have length between 1 and NAME_MAX, a number unspecified for POSIX that is not less than 14. POSIX also allows that filesystems will probably be more relaxed than this, but it forbids the characters NUL and / from appearing in filenames. Note that such a paradigmatically UNIX filename as lost+found isn't FPF, according to this def. There's another constant PATH_MAX, whose use needs no further explanation. The ideal answer will use FPFs, but I'm interested in any example with filenames that POSIX doesn't expressly forbid. Clarification #2: impossibility Obviously, pathnames normally could be bound to a file. But UNIX semantics will tell you that there are special places that couldn't normally have arbitrary files created, like in the /dev directory. Are any such special places stipulated in POSIX? That is what the question is getting after.
