  • Need Java Swing HTML canvas with support for integrated swing controls

    I would like to create an application in swing in the style of web 2.0 but have the power and functionality of a thick client. I know substance and some other look and feels help with this some, but I was wondering if there is a way I can actually use some kind of html panel / canvas to create the content in html, embedding swing controls in the rendering so as to still use listeners and get the functionality. Anybody know of a way to do this?

  • jQuery - Dynamically adding validation rule to multiple textboxes

    Hey, I'm trying to add a validation rule to multiple textboxes dynamically. Here's the js: //validate form. $("#SubmitForm").validate(); $("input[id*=Hours]").rules("add", { number: true, messages: { number: "Please enter a valid Hours" } }); This applies the rule to the very first textbox on the page with "Hours" in the id but then it doesn't apply it to any of the other ones.     I have a control that goes inactive under some conditions in my iPhone app. I can [setUserInteractionEnabled: NO] on it and it doesn't respond to touches. Its appearance does not change however. Other environments I am familiar with "grey out" inactive controls. I wonder what is the idiomatic way to hint to the user that the control is inactive.

    Hi I can't get dataform and it's controls to catch exceptions when validating. Fir instance, I have: <PasswordBox Password="{Binding Password,Mode=TwoWay,NotifyOnValidationError=true,ValidatesOnExceptions=true}" /> All required properties are set to true. In the setter of my Password property I throw a ValidationException upon failed validation, but the data form doesn't catch it, it just causes the application to crash as if it were a normal exception. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

  • Maintaining ViewModel fields with default model binding and failed validation

    I have an ASP.Net MVC Controller with a 'MapColumns' action along with a corresponding ViewModel and View. I'm using the defaultModelBinder to bind a number of drop down lists to a Dictionary in the ViewModel. The view model also contains an IList field for both source and destination columns which are used to render the view. My question is what to do when validation fails on the Post call to the MapColumns action? Currently the MapColumns view is returned with the ViewModel resulting from the default binding. This contains the Dictionary values but not the two lists used to render the page. What is the best way to re-provide these to the view? I can set them explicitly after failed validation, but if obtaining these values (via GetSourceColumns() and GetDestinationColumns() in the example) carries any overhead this doesn't seem ideal. What I am looking for is a way to retain these lists when they are not bound to the model from the view.   • Best practices for developing simple ASP.NET sites (built in controls or JQuery + scripts)

    I was recently reviewing some code written by two different contractors, both were basic ASP.NET management sites. The sites allowed the user to view and edit data. Pretty much simple CRUD gateways. One group did their best to use built in ASP + AJAX Toolkit controls and did their best to use as many built in controls as possible. I found the code much easier to read and maintain. The other used jQuery and the code is heavily marked up with script blocks which are then used to build pages from javascript files. Which one is more common? The one that basically leveraged embedded HTML markup in scripts controled by javascript files screams readability and maintenance issues? Is this just the way of doing asp dev with jQuery? Assuming the second example happens a lot, are there tools that help facilitate jQuery development with visual studio? Do you think they generated the html somewhere else and just copied it in?
