• How do I enable JPEG Support for PHP?

  My Configure Command doesn't say anything about jpg, nor gif/png, but I can see gif/png support in the output of phpinfo(). I built PHP with --with-gd, but only GIF Support and PNG Support are in the output of phpinfo(), how do I enable JPEG Support? UPDATE I got this problem when compiling : Sorry, I cannot run apxs. Possible reasons follow: 1. Perl is not installed 2. apxs was not found. Try to pass the path using --with-apxs2=/path/to/apxs 3. Apache was not built using --enable-so (the apxs usage page is displayed) The output of /usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs follows: cannot open /usr/local/apache2/build/config_vars.mk: No such file or directory at /usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs line 218. • pslist causes security audit log failure on non-administrative user account

  The user has RX privs. This event consistently arises in the security logs. How can this be resolved? Or what is the underlying issue here? • Intel Core i5-2467m - Turbo Boost not activating?

  I have a Samsung Series 5 laptop with an Intel Core i5-2467m process @ 1.6Ghz. The processor supports Intel Turbo Boost up to 2.30 Ghz according to the specifications. The i5-2467m is a dual-core process with HyperThreading, so there is a total of four (4) virtual cores in Windows 7 SP1. http://ark.intel.com/products/56858/ I've installed the Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor v2.6 to monitor if Turbo Boost is enabled, and set it to "Always On Top." I followed this process to max out the CPU: Open (4x) PowerShell instances Set each instance's affinity to a distinct CPU vCore Ran this code in each instance: while (1 -eq 1) { } Unfortunately, after maxing out all 4 cores, my laptop got hot, but Turbo Boost never kicked in. Any ideas on how to ensure that I'm getting the 2.3Ghz Turbo Boost capability of my laptop?

• Changing privilege rights on Arch Linux for a particular program

  I am quite new to linux and have had issues surrounding every program that I install. Basically, anything that is placed outside of my home directory requires a sudo call prior to opening/executing. I cannot write to files, open usb devices, or run programs that exist outside of this directory (specifically, above this directory). I know this is a privilege problem, but I come here to ask how this can be permanently stopped. How can I configure things such that when programs are installed I do not have to manually find the executable and change its privilege requirements?

• How do you use environment variables, such as %CommonProgramFiles%, in the PATH and have them recogn

  I'm trying to add C:\Program Files\Common Files\xxx\xxx to the system PATH environment variable by appending %CommonProgramFiles%\xxx\xxx to the existing path. After rebooting, I open a command prompt and check the PATH. It expands correctly. However, when using Process Explorer from Sysinternals to view the Environment variables on services.exe, it shows the unexpanded version. Coincidentally, the paths using %SystemRoot% expand and are recognized just fine. I've tried altering the PATH through the Environment Variables window from System Properties and through direct Registry manipulation, neither seems to work. Is it possible to use other environment variables, besides %SystemRoot% in PATH and have services.exe understand it?

• Safari corrupting downloads?

  First off, a bit of background: I had to do an erase and install about 2-3 weeks ago, so this is a fresh, up-to-date installation of Snow Leopard we're dealing with. That said, I decided recently to branch out from simply programming PHP in a text editor and explore some of the other technologies I keep hearing about, and picked up Drupal, Joomla, and the Zend Framework from their respective official sites. Latest complete, stable builds for all 3. Drupal and Joomla downloaded without a problem, but when I put them in my /~username/Sites folder, XAMPP pretends they're not there, even if I restart Apache or the laptop itself. Zend's archive won't open at all. Is Safari corrupting the downloads, or are there other issues in play that can be investigated?

  I'm running nginx 1.3.5 under windows seven, I need to execute nginx directly from a read-only media (CD or DVD), but when I want to run it, it fails with this error: nginx: [alert] could not open error log file: CreateFile() "logs/error.log" fail ed (5: Access is denied) 2012/08/28 13:52:46 [emerg] 5604#2864: CreateDirectory() "J:\nginx-1.3.5/temp/client_body_temp" failed (5: Access is denied) where J is my CD-ROM drive letter. I've changed nginx.conf to disable logging completely, but seems anyway it still tries to build a file named 'error.log' in '/logs' folder & some extra temporary contents in '/temp' folder at the startup, so I want to change 'logs' & 'temp' directory path to windows temp folder (%temp%), but I dont have any idea that how can I do it. Also I want to know why nginx still creates 'logs/error.log' after disableing error logging ?

• How do I copy/clone a dynamic disk in Windows 7?

  I have some dynamic disks (or "partitions" but they are not really partitions) that I want to copy onto spare hard drives. I tried using gpartd (and fdisk for that matter) from a linux live disc. All it saw was hard drives with only one partition encasing the whole hard drive. So gpartd/fdisk is incapable of identifying the dynamic "partitions" and allowing me to copy them. Any tools that can be used to clone/copy a dynamic "partition"? (I'm open to commercial software suggestions if they can do the job).

  ok so i have a set of touch screen buttons on the top of my laptop's keyboard, (one turns on power save mode, one disables/enables the mouse touch pad, one toggles the wifi adapter, and two turns the volume up/down) however theres another one that opened a file backup utility that came with my laptop. but since i bought my laptop , ive uninstalled that utility, rendering this button useless. So i was wondering if it was possible to reprogram that button to open another file or program on my computer? And if so what are the requirements and how would i go about doing it?   hi i have an iphone 2g firmware 3.1.3 ifone is jailbroken have install0us and appcake on it. i have downloaded tunein radio version 1.4 from apptrckr. it installed fine but i cannot open it. i wuold click on it, it would start i mean for like 1 second, then just close. i dont know whats wrong with it. can some please help me. i have kill sb on it, which restarts the spring board. i tried turning it off n back on again. deleted and re-installed. deleted it and turnt ifone off and back on, then re-installed it. it doesn't seem 2 work at all. any one know what 2 do. mind it is a cracked app. thankz..!!

• How to troubleshoot a remote wmi query/access failure?

  Hi I'm using Powershell to query a remote computer in a domain for a wmi object, eg: "gwmi -computer test -class win32_bios". I get this error message: Value does not fall within the expected range Executing the query local under the same user works fine. It seems to happen on both windows 2003 and also 2008 systems. The user that runs the shell has admin rights on the local and remote server. I checked wmi and dcom permissions as far as I know how to do this, they seem to be the same on a server where it works, and another where it does not. I think it is not a network issue, all ports are open that are needed, and it also happens within the same subnet. When sniffing the traffic we see the following errors: RPC: c/o Alter Cont Resp: Call=0x2 Assoc Grp=0x4E4E Xmit=0x16D0 Recv=0x16D0 Warning: GssAPIMechanism is not found, either caused by not reassembled, conversation off or filtering. And an errormessage from Kerberos: Kerberos: KRB_ERROR - KDC_ERR_BADOPTION (13) The option code in the packet is 0x40830000 Any idea what I should look into?

Let's say I add an entry to my /etc/hosts such as 127.0.1.12 facebook.com and an Apache virtual host such as <VirtualHost 127.0.1.12> ServerName facebook.com DocumentRoot /var/www </VirtualHost> when i open my browser and send a GET request to facebook.com, firefox will browse my /var/www folder. Question: How could I fetch (ie, using wget in bash) the real facebook.com domain - without erasing the entry in /etc/hosts nor my Apache VirtualHost -- IOW how could I bypass internal DNS?

• Not able to run discovery in XenApp 6.5

  I am installing a fresh Citrix farm. I installed XenApp 6.5 and configured while configuring the XenApp, added domain\ctxadmin user as the farm administrator. Now when i log into Administrator account into the XenApp server and run discovery it says This user account is not an administrator of this farm, or there was a problem contacting the data store. Check that the data store server for the Citrix XenApp farm is online, and verify that your account is configured and enabled as an administrator on the farm Then I tried to RDP into the XenApp server as ctxadmin user and now I get an error "The Desktop you are trying to open is currently unavailable. Contact you system administrator to confirm the correct settings are in place for your client connection" I believe starting from XenApp version 6.x, once XenApp is installed, then a Citrix Policy needs to be changed as given in http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX124745 But for changing the Citrix policy I need to log into AppCenter which I am not able to do so as I am not able to run discovery as given above. So I am caught up in an end-less loop. Any help would be greatly appreciated

• ADSIEdit freezes gettings properties of a group with hundred of thousands members

  Doing performance testing on an AD-LDS (Server 2008 R2 64 bits), we created a milion user in a single OU. We also created a single group object and made those milion users member of that group. When we try to list the milion of users ADSIEdit times out with an error message saying it cannot display that many users. Fine. But if we open the properties for the group, ADSIEdit freezes, eating up all available memory and CPU trashing (nearly 60M page faults in under an hour). AD-LDS (running on another computer) is barely hitting the 1% CPU mark, servicing other ldap requests as if nothing were. We can throw more memory at the problem, but more users will have to be managed one day and we will be back at square one. Is there a way to set a limit in ADSIEdit so that it will not hang the computer when retreving a very large multi-value object ?

Port forwarding is configured as following: Enable true Name Apache Protocol TCP (also tried TCP and UPD) WAN Host Start IP Address empty WAN Host End IP Address empty WAN Connection stream WAN Start Port 8080 WAN End Port 8080 LAN Host IP Address 192.168.1.2 LAN Host Start Port 8080 LAN Host End Port 8080 Port 8080 is open for both TCP and UPD in Windows Brandmauer. Apache configuration: Listen 192.168.1.2:8080 Router Firmware: Hardware Version V1.0.01 Software Version V8.0.02T03_CFA Boot Loader Version V1.1.2 The provider is COMSTAR. I'm not sure but it's said they flash routers with modified firmware. I have also tried to set up Bitcomet port forwarding on port 13514 and failed.

• How do I change OSX package install directory?

  It drives me nuts that every time I download a binary to run on OSX that it wants to install in system directories. ~/Applications is a perfectly fine place to install and doesn't require blindly authenticating somebody else's binary. Is there a way to change the install directory for packages? On a few I've been able to open the package and edit the plist to install it elsewhere, but that doesn't work universally. I install from source when I can, but it isn't always an option. Is there a good way to force the installer to use ~/Applications?

  I have been obtaining errors like below because I did not specify enough ports for the active FTP connections. Response: 150 Opening data channel for directory list. Response: 425 Can't open data connection.Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing Things seem to work nicely with limited ports, but when I perform actions that cause very rapid short-lived connections, something like 20-30% of the connections drop with the error above. I started with ports 50000-50100. When I opened up to 50000-52000, the errors disappeared. Why did this fix my problem? I would like to understand why adding ports fixed it. I have a suspicion that ports become "locked down" for a few moments surrounding when they are used in a connection. If connections are happening so rapidly, there may be no ports available, thus the above error. Can anybody confirm?

  How can I automatically start a program on Amazon's EC2 Windows 2008 web servers? For example, if I wanted to test the "Digg effect" on a web page of mine, how could I open 100 windows 2008 servers at once, each loading one (or two?) instances of the firefox web browser? I have placed a sample batch file in the windows startup folder that echos the time it was called, but it is only started when I actually login remotely via the remote desktop protocol. • Emulate "Go to Dekstop/Home/etc." behavior in OS X via AppleScript

  OS X has build in support for going to certain Folders (Home, Utilities, Desktop, etc.) via a Shortcut. I wanted to emulate this behavior for the the Downloads Folder. • Help setting up NSD daemon (DNS server)

  While searching for a secure dns server I came across the NSD project. I was really impressed by what seemed to me the best option out there that's open source. One problem thought their 'tutorial' is really not beginner friendly. I have basic DNS knoledge but what's in there is out of my league. I need to have multiple sites on this CentOS server I've recently got my hands on. They also need to receive email. Details: I have a master host and would love to set this in the way described in the rows that follow: masterhost.com -> ns1.masterhost.com mail.masterhost.com www.masterhost.com addonhost.com -> ns1.masterhost.com mail.masterhost.com www.addonhost.com And so on. • Gmail page works but won't stop loading

  When I open the GMail page in Chrome (9.0.597.102) on OS X (10.6.4), the page works fine and is functional, but it often remains in a "Loading" state, with the loading icon active, for extremely long periods of time. Functionally, there is no problem, since everything is accessible, and the problem is intermittent. Sometimes it immediately completes loading, other times it will claim to be "loading" for hours. My date is correct (as set with time.*.apple.com), and I don't have any Google Labs enabled. Does anyone else have this problem, or know the cause and solution?

  When I open Reporting Services Configuration Manager on my server, an error message appears that says: Reporting Services Configuration Manager An unknown error has occurred in the WMI Provider. Error Code 800706B3 This error appears before I can even attempt to connect to an SSRS instance. In addition to this problem, I'm not able to connect to my SSRS instance via SSMS on my desktop. When I attempt to connect, I get the following error message: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. (mscorlib) Additional information: The operation could not be completed. (WinMgmt) Information about my environment: Server: Win Server 2K3 x64, SQL 2005 x64 SP3 Build 9.0.4053 Desktop: Windows 7 Enterprise x64 Steps I have already taken: I have installed the latest service pack on my server and workstation. I do not see any errors in my event logs.

  I am using DNSmasq, OpenDNS and DYNDNS. DYNDNS is for my FTP site, and I am using OPEN DNS to filter porn from my kids itouch/ipad. However, I would like a few computers to have the capability to bypass openDNS, and pass through to a fast DNS server like google or similar. I would also like to fowrard all traffice from DYNDNS to my FTP server. Any ideas? This is what I have thus far.. strict-order dhcp-mac=filter,00:25:64:DB:A8:8A dhcp-option=net:filter,6,8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4 Its not working thus far, can someone help me accomplish what I want to do?

• TP-Link TL-WA701N not working good as wireless extender

  I bought the device in subject to extend the range of my WPA2/PSK-protected wifi network powered by a TP-Link TL-WR340G device (AP+router). I configured it as follows: Operation mode: Universal Repeater MAC of AP: scanned my SSID and got it Channel width: 20MHz Security options: the same as the parent AP (WPA2/PSK with AES encryption) After configuration inSSIDer shows me two APs beaconing the same SSID at different SNRs (because I was with my laptop close to the extender). After a few hours my tablet, far from the parent AP, stopped working. I found that the scan reported two networks with the same SSID: one WPA-protected and one free at all. This happened very frequently. Rebooting the extender by unplugging it worked but this doesn't last long. Sometimes the extender stops transmitting at all, sometimes it beacons an open network to which nobody can connect (because there is no DHCP). What's wrong with my configuration?

• PLESK Original php.ini files needed

  Hello, I am using PLESK 9.2.3 with CentOS 5. I recently tried to change some things in the php.ini files, but i ended up clearing both files. stupid mistake! Is there a possibility i can get the content of both files back. I am talking about the files: /etc/php.ini /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/php.ini or was it /etc/php.ini /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/.php.ini When i browse to my PLESK panel i get the error message: Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0 Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required 'auth.php3' (include_path='.:') in Unknown on line 0 Thats as much information i can get, i hope someone can make some sense of all this Regrads EDIT: I ended up just reinstalling plesk which was fairly easy. Something like yum install psa-plesk. There was a guide i followed, and everything worked out ok
