• setSearchDisplayController considered private-API?

  Hi, I recently submitted an app for app review but I got rejected because of the use of a private API. I based the searching of a UITableView on the example given here. So can anyone explain why this is considered a private API?

  Hi all Our ASp.net applications getting error as below" [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied " But i can connect with Enterprise manager management studio and Query analaizer with out any issue. It was running these applications with out any issue long time. last one week we are getting this error.If we restart the server .it works then it will come again after 3to 4 hours. We are running on Windows 2003 server. I was seraching and didnt find a solution yet. If anybody knows anything for this error, please post the details to resolve. Thank you in Advance Joseph

• Discussions on software architecture - Is StackOverflow appropriate place?

  Hi guys, I am using StackOverFlow for sometime, and its absolutely absolutely awesome for discussions on coding issues. But I don't see discussions on software architecture and designs. What I mean is, I don't see discussions where people put their design ideas and architecture of their software for discussions and ask for reviews and comments. So my question is, is StackOverFlow not the place for such discussions and is there any other place specialized for such discussions. (Like http://serverfault.com for system administrators or http://superuser.com). I am asking this question because, I am a beginner and am coding a piece of software for a course project and am too enthusiastic about it (and passionate too) and want to release it as OpenSource. And I want the code to be highly modular and highly extensible. But as a beginner I am not sure if the design I have comeup is good or not. So want to discuss it with people.   Hello everybody. I'm doing a small web app, which uses CKeditor for user input, and CKfinder for file management (images/flash). Those who know CKFinder, also know that the config file for CKFinder as a function named CheckAuthentication() that returns false or true, giving or not permissions to use CKFinder. This is were a Custom PHP Code checks if the user as authorization to access CKFinder or not. Well for my app I'm using Code Igniter, and of course I've created a model were i handle everything about User Permissions, Loggin, Session Cookies, etc. And i also have a function witch its propose is just to check if the user is Logged in. So I would like to know if someone knows a way that i can call the function isLoggedIn() inside the model security from inside the function CheckAuthentication() in CKFinder config file. • Reverse Engineering Custom Data File

  At my place of work we have a legacy document management system that is now unsupported by the developers due to variours reasons, i have been asked to look into extracting the documents contained in this system to eventually be imported into a new 3rd party system. From various tracing and process monitoring I have determined that the document images (mainly tiff files) are stored in a number of 1.5gb files, these files seem to be read from a speficic offset and then written to a tmp file that is then served via a web app to the client and then deleted. I guess i am looking for suggestions as how I can inspect these large files that containn the tiff images and eventually extract and write them to individual files.

• UIBarButtonItem: target-action not working?

  Hey fellas, I've got a custom view inside of a UIBarButtonItem, set by calling -initWithCustomView. OK, so the view renders fine, but when I tap it, it doesn't call the method that I set as the UIBarButtonItem's action property. Oh, and I have verified that my -deselectAll method works fine. • Map a column to be IDENTITY in db with EF4 Code-Only

  Although I have marked my ID column with .Identity(), the generated database schema doesn't have IDENTITY set to true, which gives me problems when I'm adding records. If I manually edit the database schema (in SQL Management Studio) to have the Id column marked IDENTITY, everything works as I want it - I just can't make EF do that by itself. • Expose url to webservice

  In our project we want to query a document management system for a specific document or movie. The dms returns a URL with the document location (for example: http://mydomain.myserver1.share/mypdf.pdf or http://mydomain.myserver2.share/mymovie.avi). We want to expose the document to internet users and intranet users. The requested file can be large (large video files). Our architecture is like: request goes like: webapp1 - webapp2 - webapp3 - dms response goes like: dms - webapp3 - webapp2 - webapp1 webapp1 could be on the internet. I have have been thinking how we can obfusicate the real url from the dms, due to security issues. I have seen implementations from other webapps where the pdf URL was obfusicated by creating a temp file for the requested document that is specific for the session and user. So other users cannot easily guess the documentname of other users. My question: is there a pattern that deals with exposing company/user vulernable data to the public ? Our development is in C# 3.5.

• Export ASPNETDB data to another Database.

  Hi there. I am developing in Visual Web developer 2008. I have SQLEXPRESS 2005 and SQL Management Studio 2008 installed on my PC. I purchased a Database MS SQL 2008 on DiscountASP.net. Since the host provides only 1 database and my project has 2 database. One is the ASPNETDB that contains the roles and user etc (created using the Website Configuration Wizard) and the other is my database containing data to my website and is named MainDB. As Host allows only 1 database so i exported my ASPNETDB's tables and stored procedures to my MainDB using aspnet_regsql.exe, but the problem is that stored procedures and tables are exported to my MainDB but data is not exported, i mean there are no users in the tables. My Question is how to export everything of ASPNETDB including stored procedures, tables and data to my MainDB??

• switch views using a button, going to a table view, iphone

  My program has 4 buttons and each button calls a different table view. That works fine, but my problem is, the view controller I'm using brings up a table view that covers up my navigation bar and my tab bar. I need to replace that coding with something that will bring up a table and not cover up my nav and tab bars.   I watched this webcast recently, and I got the sense that a lot of the "cool stuff" from ASP.NET MVC is getting pulled back into the ASP.NET framework. At the moment I'm setting the ground-work for a project at my company using ASP.NET MVC, but after watching this, I'm beginning to wonder if that's the right choice, and whether it would behoove me to wait for ASP.NET 4.0. I realize ASP.NET MVC 2.0 is getting close to an actual release. If High-Testability, loose coupling, and having Full control of our HTML are top priorities, which should I choose, ASP.NET 4.0 or ASP.NET MVC?

  Hello all, Recently I've switched to Ninject 2.0 release and started getting the following error: Error occured: Error activating SomeController More than one matching bindings are available. Activation path: 1) Request for SomeController Suggestions: 1) Ensure that you have defined a binding for SomeController only once. However, I'm unable to find certain reproduction path. Sometimes it occurs, sometimes it does not. I'm using NinjectHttpApplication for automatic controllers injection. • Size of static libraries generated by XCode

  I have a project tree in XCode that looks like this: AppProject depends on ObjcWrapper that in turn depends on PureCppLib. ObjcWrapper and PureCppLib are static library projects. Combined, all sources barely reach 15k lines of code, and, as expected, the size of resulting binary is about 750Kb in release mode and slightly over 1Mb in debug mode. So far, so good. However, ObjcWraper.a and PureCppLib.a are over 6Mb each in either mode. So the first question is why it is so. But more importantly, how can I ensure that those static libs do not include parts or all of the source code? Thanks in advance!

• Studying MySQL, SQLite source code to learn about RDBMS implementation

  I know implementing database is a huge topic, but I want to have a basic understanding of how database systems work (e.g. memory management, binary tree, transaction, sql parsing, multi-threading, partitions, etc) by investigating the source code of the database. Since there are a few already proven very robust open source databases like mysql, sqlite and so on. However, the code are very complicated and I have no clue where to start. Also I find that the old school database textbooks are only explaining the theory, not the implementation details. Can anyone suggest how I should get started and if there are any books that emphasis on the technology and techniques of building dbms used in modern database industry?

• Subview appears behind tableview

  When I add a subview to my UITableViewController, it seems to be underneath the tableview. I may be loading my subview incorrectly, or calling addSubview in the wrong place. The subview I'm referring to is the red area above the tabbar that also contains the "Click me" button: You can see that the cell lines kind of overlap.   Setting up SSRS. For Service Account, I set a domain account as the Report Server Service Account. click apply SQL Server Connection Dialog pops up. • Why doesn’t ABPersonViewController show any properties besides the name?

  For some reason, ABPersonViewController is unwilling to display any properties aside from the name, no matter what properties are set for it to display. I’m unable to use the AddressBookUI controllers to let a user select a contact to display, since my UI has custom requirements, otherwise I’d go that route (as Apple does in their sample project.) Everything in my form works perfectly, and the form contents are being emailed correctly, but the success function isn't being called.
