• Problem with Marshalling char* in c#

  I have a problem calling this function from a c++ DLL in c# INT32 WINAPI PM_COM_GetText(INT32 TextId, char* pBuf, INT32 BufSize); It writes a Text in a buffer for a given text id. I try to call it with the following c# code, but I constantly get an access violation and don't undrestand why: public string GetText(Int32 TextId) { Int32 BufSize = 256; StringBuilder Str = new StringBuilder(BufSize); PM_COM_GetText(TextId, Str, BufSize); return Str.ToString(); } [DllImport("ComDll.dll", CharSet = CharSet.Ansi)] private static extern Int32 PM_COM_GetText(Int32 TextId, StringBuilder Str, Int32 BufSize); I don't see what's wrong, it looks to me like many other code snippets I found in the web.   I have a asp FileUpload control in my aspx page. Now, I'm required to do the "check-extension" in the other way: at the moment the client click and choose FileUpload, an alert show "Extension of files are not allowed.". I need a way to make an alert show at the momment the FileUpload choosed in browser. Help!!!!

  I am using PHP's magic __set and __get methods to access a private array in a class. I want to make sure the property names requested (i.e. $myObj->FakeProperty) are valid according to PHP property name rules before accessing them. My current RegEx isn't doing the trick; with my test values, _12 always falls through the cracks. I'm not actually sure that my test values even represent a realistic representation of what is and isn't allowed for PHP class property names, but I'm not really too concerned about it, just that I have some sort of rudimentary check in place. • Java 'Prototype' pattern - new vs clone vs class.newInstance

  In my project there are some 'Prototype' factories that create instances by cloning a final private instance. The author of those factories says that this pattern provides better performance than calling 'new' operator. Using google to get some clues about that, I've found nothing really relevant about that. Here is a small excerpt found in a javdoc from an unknown project javdoc from an unknown project Sadly, clone() is rather slower than calling new. However it is a lot faster than calling java.lang.Class.newInstance(), and somewhat faster than rolling our own "cloner" method. For me it's looking like an old best practice of the java 1.1 time. Does someone know more about this ? Is this a good practice to use that with 'modern' jvm ?

  I previously have been reading NMEA data from a GPS via a serial port using C#. Now I'm doing something similar, but instead of GPS from a serial. I'm attempting to read a KISS Statement from a TNC. I'm using this event handler. comport.DataReceived += new SerialDataReceivedEventHandler(port_DataReceived); Here is port_DataReceived. private void port_DataReceived(object sender, SerialDataReceivedEventArgs e) { string data = comport.ReadExisting(); sBuffer = data; try { this.Invoke(new EventHandler(delegate { ProcessBuffer(sBuffer); })); } catch { } } The problem I'm having is that the method is being called several times per statement. So the ProcessBuffer method is being called with only a partial statment. How can I read the whole statement?

  Similar to this Java question. I would like to specify that a variable implements multiple interfaces. For instance private {IFirstInterface, ISecondInterface} _foo; public void SetFoo({IFirstInterface, ISecondInterface} value) { _foo = value; } Requirements: I don't have the ability to add an interface to most type that would be passed in to Foo. So I can't create a third interface that inherits from IFirstInterface and ISecondInterface. I would like to avoid making the containing class generic if possible because the type of Foo doesn't have much to do with the class and the user isn't likely to know it at compile time. I need to use foo to access methods in both interfaces at a later time. I would like to do this in a compiler safe way, i.e. no trying to cast to the interface just before trying to use it. If foo does not implement both interfaces quite a bit of functionality won't work properly. Is this possible?

  I am writing a tool which communicates with more than one version control system, either subversion or clearcase, and has various utilities which can be plugged into it. I though of using MEF to load the version control providers, and utiilities, both of which have interfaces definied for them. I've started to use MEF for this. But if loading any plugin fails (on half my clients machines, the ClearCase COM bindings won't be present, so loading will fail, on the other half SVN won't be installed, so the SVN plugin won't load) though, MEF throws an exception and no plugin works; I was hoping that the rest of the plugins would load. [ImportMany(AllowRecomposition = true)] public IEnumerable<IVersionControl> RegisteredProviders { get; private set; } Instead, if any providers fail to construct themselves, then RegisteredProviders is null. Is there a simple way of configuring MEF to achieve this (reporting exceptions but loading other instances), or do I have to change the interface to delay their intialisation failure until after MEF has instantiated the objects?

When this program run, SVN displays svnlook exited with error 0xC0000135. Current output is: empty I looked up the error 0xC0000135 and it mean App failed to initialize properly although it wasn't specific to svnhook. Why is svnlook help not returning anything? Does it fail when executed through another process?

  The WPF CommandManager allows you to do the following (pseudo-ish-code): <Button Name="SomeButton" Command="{Binding Path=ViewModelCommand}"/> And in the code-behind: private void InitCommandEvents() { CommandManager.AddExecutedEventHandler(this.SomeButton, SomeEventHandler); } The SomeEventHandler never gets called. To me this didn't seem like something very wrong to try and do, but if you consider what happens inside CommandManager.AddExecutedEventHandler, it makes sense why it doesn't. Add to that the fact that the documentation clearly states that the CommandManager only works with RoutedCommands. Nonetheless, this had me very frustrated for a while and led me to this question: What would you suggest is the best workaround for the fact that the CommandManager does not support custom ICommands? Especially if you want to add behavior around the execution of a command? For now, I fire the command manually in code behind from the button click event.
