  I have two WCF services hosted in a single Windows Service on a Windows Server 2003 machine. If the Windows service needs to access either of the WCF services (like when a timed event occurs), it uses one of the five named pipe endpoints exposed (different service contracts). The service also exposes HTTP MetadataExchange endpoints for each of the two services, and net.tcp endpoints for consumers external to the server. Usually things work great, but every once in a while I get an error message that looks something like this: System.ServiceModel.EndpointNotFoundException: There was no endpoint listening at net.pipe://localhost/IPDailyProcessing that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. • Fastest Java way to remove the first/top line of a file (like a stack)

  I am trying to improve an external sort implementation in java. I have a bunch of BufferedReader objects open for temporary files. I repeatedly remove the top line from each of these files. This pushes the limits of the Java's Heap. I would like a more scalable method of doing this without loosing speed because of a bunch of constructor calls. One solution is to only open files when they are needed, then read the first line and then delete it. But I am afraid that this will be significantly slower. So using Java libraries what is the most efficient method of doing this. --Edit-- For external sort, the usual method is to break a large file up into several chunk files. Sort each of the chunks. And then treat the sorted files like buffers, pop the top item from each file, the smallest of all those is the global minimum. Then continue until for all items. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/External_sorting My temporary files (buffers) are basically BufferedReader objects. The operations performed on these files are the same as stack/queue operations (peek and pop, no push needed). I am trying to make these peek and pop operations more efficient. This is because using many BufferedReader objects takes up too much space.

• What issues might I have in opening .NET 2.0 Projects in Visual Studio 2010?

  The small software team I work on recently got approved to upgrade to Visual Studio 2010 (we're currently using VS 2005). We have several ASP.NET 2.0 and WinForms (in .NET 2.0) projects in production. I've been tasked with downloading VS 2010 and seeing how well it plays with our current projects. What issues should I be aware of when targeting older applications in VS 2010? If I open a VS 2005 project in VS 2010, will it still place nicely when my teammate goes back to open the project in VS 2005? Will we have to upgrade projects to work in VS 2010 (assuming the projects themselves aren't upgraded to .NET 4)? Can I use VS 2010 to edit legacy VB6 apps (just kidding)? I'm excited to work with the newest software, but we're concerned about running into development snags on production applications that are already working just fine. NOTE: I started a bounty in hopes of getting a more detailed answer to this question. Perhaps the answer really is as simple as those already provided, but I'm interested in more feedback regarding our options to transition from using VS 2005 to VS 2010.

• Using an embedded Word document to create a new instance of that document.

  For a variety of reasons that are immutable ... I have a Word document which contains a VBA application (the 'app document') which creates a new document based on another document (the 'template') which contains the framework for the new document. I want to embed the 'template' into the 'app document' so that I deliver one file and I know I am using the correct version of the 'template'. I have, so far, embedded the 'template' file into the 'app document' and can find it by looping through "ThisDocument.InlineShapes", looking at .Field.OleFormat.IconLabel to find the 'template' by its name. The inlineShape.Field.OleFormat.Object is the 'template' document itself, and I can .Activate it, which causes it to appear as a regular document. I try to do SaveAs, and it does in fact save the file as the name I give it, however, that saved-as file is not left open, just the embedded file. I can not .Activate the file and just save it, then open the saved file, but that seems more work than necessary. So ... is the way I am doing this "the way", or I have missed some obvious practice? It works great, but when I try to add another function that checks for something similar, both of them fail. • Solaris MySQL Unable to start successfully

  Environment: Solaris 10 This mysql server has been up and running for 6 months now. Today all of a sudden it crashed. When typing 'mysql' as user it gives the error MYSQL" Error 2002 (HY000): Can't Connect to Local MySQL server though socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' when typing mysql as root it says mysql: not found. The server try to open mysql, it stays open for 9-10 seconds and restarts the process. Below are the application logs. • Switch gettext translated language with original language

  Hi everyone, I started my PHP application with all text in German, then used gettext to extract all strings and translate them to English. So, now I have a .po file with all msgids in German and msgstrs in English. I want to switch them, so that my source code contains the English as msgids. There are numerous reasons for this: More translators will know English, so it is only appropriate to serve them up a file with msgids in English. I could always switch the file before I give it out and after I receive it It would help me to write English object & function names and comments if the content text was also English. I'd like to do that, so the project is more open to other Open Source collaborators (more likely to know English than German). I could do this manually and this is the sort of task where I anticipate it will take me more time to write an automated routine for it (because I'm very bad with shell scripts) than do it by hand. But I also anticipate despising every minute of manual computer labour (feels like a oxymoron, right?) like I always do. Has someone done this before? I figured this would be a common problem, but couldn't find anything. Many thanks ahead. • JQuery plugin: catch events for clicking/tabbing into and out of an input box

  I'm creating a Javascript JQuery Timepicker control plugin (which I hope to open source soon) and I would like some advice on how to best register the events in the cleanest way. The control will attach to an <input> box and provide a graphical way to enter times of day ( 14:25, 2:45 AM, etc...). It does this by adding a <div> after the input box. What I want is to bind an openControl() function that fires when the input is clicked or tabbed to, and a closeControl() function that fires when the input box is tabbed away from or deselected but not if the control itself is clicked. That is, I don't want to close the control if you're clicking inside of the control's <input> or the <div>. • Java: Embedding Soundbank file in JAR

  If I have a soundbank stored in a JAR, how would I load that soundbank into my application using resource loading...? I'm trying to consolidate as much of a MIDI program into the jar file as I can, and the last thing I have to add is the soundbank file I'm using, as users won't have the soundbanks installed. I'm trying to put it into my jar file, and then load it with getResource() in the Class class, but I'm getting an InvalidMidiDataException on a soundbank that I know is valid. • Handling Types Defined in Plug-ins That Are No Longer Available

  I am developing a .NET framework application that allows users to maintain and save "projects". A project can consist of components whose types are defined in the assemblies of the framework itself and/or in third-party assemblies that will be made available to the framework via a yet-to-be-built plug-in architecture. When a project is saved, it is simply binary-serialised to file. Projects are portable, so multiple users can load the same project into their own instances of the framework (just as different users may open the same MSWord document in their own local copies of MSWord). What's more, the plug-ins available to one user's framework might not be available to that of another. I need some way of ensuring that when a user attempts to open (i.e. deserialise) a project that includes a type whose defining assembly cannot be found (either because of a framework version incompatibility or the absence of a plug-in), the project still opens but the offending type is somehow substituted or omitted. Trouble is, the research I've done to date does not even hint at a suitable approach. Any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks.

• Programatically rebuild .exd-files when loading VBA

  Hi, After updating Microsoft Office 2007 to Office 2010 some custom VBA scripts embedded in our software failed to compile with the following error message: Object library invalid or contains references to object definitions that could not be found. As far as I know, this error is a result of a security update from Microsoft (Microsoft Security Advisory 960715). When adding ActiveX-controls to VBA scripts, information about the controls are stored in cache files on the local hard drive (.exd-files). The security update modified some of these controls, but the .exd-files were not automatically updated. When the VBA scripts try to load the old versions of the controls stored in the cached files, the error occurs. These cache-files must be removed from the hard drive in order for the controls to load successfully (which will create new, updated .exd-files automatically). What I would like to do is to programatically (using Visual C++) remove the outdated .exd-files when our software loads. When opening a VBA project using CApcProject::ApcProject.Open I set the following flag:axProjectThrowAwayCompiledState. TestHR(ApcProject.Open(pHost, (MSAPC::AxProjectFlag) (MSAPC::axProjectNormal | MSAPC::axProjectThrowAwayCompiledState))); According to the documentation, this flag should cause the VBA project to be recompiled and the temporary files to be deleted and rebuilt. I've also tried to update the checksum of the host application type library which should have the same effect. However none of these fixes seem to do the job and I'm running out of ideas. Help is very much appreciated!

• deep linking in Excel sheets exported to html

  hello everybody, I am working on a project where I must export to html a lot of Excel files. This is pretty straightforward using automation and saving as html. The problem is that many of these sheets have links to worksheets of some other files. I must find a way to write a link to a single inner worksheet. When you export a multisheet excel file to html, excel creates a main htm file, a folder named filename_file, and inside this folder it writes down several files: a css, an xml list of files, a file that creates the tab bar and several html files named sheetxxx.htm, each one representing a worksheet. When you open the main file, you can click the menu bar at the bottom which lets you select the appropriate sheet. This is in fact a link, which replaces a frame content with the sheetxxx.htm file. When this file is loaded a javascript function that selects the right tab gets called. The exported files will be published on a web site. I will have to post process each file and replace every link to the other xls files to the matching htm file, finding a way to open the right worksheet. I think that I could add a parameter to the processed htm file link url, such as myfile.htm?sh=sheet002.htm if I want to link to the second worksheet of myfile.htm (ex myfile.xls). After I've exported them, I could inject a simple javascript into each of the main files which, when they are loaded, could retrieve the sh parameter with jQuery (this is easy) and use this to somehow replace the frSheet frame contents (where the sheets get loaded), opening the right inner sheet and not the default sheet (this is what I call deep linking) mimicking what happens when a user clicks on a tab. This last step is missing... :) I am considering different options, such as replacing the source of the $("frSheet") frame after document.ready. I'd like to hear from you any advice on what could be the best way to realize that in your opinion. any help is greately appreciated, many thanks.

  hi am using C# with VS-2005 I have a form1 and about two textBox and one Combobox on it. like below textBox1 texbox2 ComboBox I have bind combobox by sql database. first user type in textbox1 and textbox2 and then goes to comboBox in which "BuyerName" available on it. if user not found the data in the comboBox then press ALT+C for opening of Form2 where they create data and save it. My problem is when I closed the form2 by saving data of "BuyerName" the form1 is open as per my requirement but the data of textBox1 and textBox2 which user typed before opening of form2 is lost and therefore user have to re-type on it. which i don't want as it wasting of time. I want when form2 closed and form1 open the data will be available on it. and when u create fresh "BuyerName" from form2 the "BuyerName" will be automaticaly available on form1 comboBox on closing of form2. Hope u will get it. am new here in programing so kindly suggest me by proper codeing. thx in Advance.

• Using application roles with DataReader

  I have an application that should use an application role from the database. I'm trying to make this work with queries that are actually run using Subsonic (2). To do this, I created my own DataProvider, which inherits from Subsonic's SqlDataProvider. It overrides the CreateConnection function, and calls sp_appsetrole to set the application role after the connection is created. This part works fine, and I'm able to get data using the application role. The problem comes when I try to unset the application role. I couldn't find any place in the code where my provider is called after the query is done, so I tried to add my own, by changing SubSonic code. The problem is that Subsonic uses a data reader. It loads data from the data reader, and then closes it. If I unset the application role before the data reader is closed, I get an error saying: There is already an open DataReader associated with this Command which must be closed first. If I unset the application role after the data reader is closed, I get an error saying ExecuteNonQuery requires an open and available Connection. The connection's current state is closed. I can't seem to find a way to close the data reader without closing the connection.

• UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character [...]

  I have read the HOWTO on Unicode from the official docs and a full, very detailed article as well. Still I don't get it why it throws me this error. Here is what I attempt: I open an XML file that contains chars out of ASCII range (but inside allowed XML range). I do that with cfg = codecs.open(filename, encoding='utf-8, mode='r') which runs fine. Looking at the string with repr() also shows me a unicode string. Now I go ahead and read that with parseString(cfg.read().encode('utf-8'). Of course, my XML file starts with this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>. Although I suppose it is not relevant, I also defined utf-8 for my python script, but since I am not writing unicode characters directly in it, this should not apply here. Same for the following line: from __future__ import unicode_literals which also is right at the beginning. Next thing I pass the generated Object to my own class where I read tags into variables like this: xmldata.getElementsByTagName(tagName)[0].firstChild.data and assign it to a variable in my class. Now what perfectly works are those commands (obj is an instance of the class): for element in obj: print element And this command does work as well: print obj.__repr__() I defined __iter__() to just yield every variable while __repr__() uses the typical printf stuff: "%s" % self.varname Both commands print perfectly and can output the unicode character. What does not work is this: print obj And now I am stuck because this throws the dreaded UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\xfc' in position 47: So what am I missing? What am I doing wrong? I am looking for a general solution, I always want to handle strings as unicode, just to avoid any possible errors and write a compatible program. • adding a div with data()

• UIImageView Centering Problem.

  To understand my problem let's follow this steps. Open - XCode - New Project - View based application. Open View Controller.xib file. Drag an image-view into viewController's view. Place that image view on center of viewController's view. Apply size of 125x125 to image-view. Take any image with dimension of 320 width & 460 height. Drag that image into your application resources directory. Now, Again back to .xib File & select image-view Set image (which is in your resources) to image-view Set Image-view Mode to - Center Ok. Let me explain the situation now. after performing all above steps - image-view has an image which is larger than image-view's size. However, Image-view places that image on center & in View controller image-view is looking proper ( not scaled ). But When you run your application, image-view will be displayed in size of 320x460. ( but it is not actually scaled. ) Now, I can't find the reason, why interface builder is displaying something else & simulator/iphone is displaying something else ? My Query. I want the image's center portion within image-view no matter what image size is. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge. Sagar.

• Vim - show diff on commit in mercurial;

  In my .hgrc I can provide an editor or a command to launch an editor with options on commit. I want to write a method or alias that launches $ hg ci, it would not only open up message in Vim, but also would split window and there print out $ hg diff. I know that I can give parameters to vim by using +{command} option. So launching $ vim "+vsplit" does the split but any other options goes to first opened window. So I assume i need a specific function, yet I have no experience in writing my own Vim scripts. The script should: Open new vertical split with empty buffer (with vnew possibly) In empty buffer launch :.!hg diff Set empty buffer file type as diff :set ft=diff I've written such function: function! HgCiDiff() vnew :.!hg diff set ft=diff endfunction And in .hgrc I've added option: editor = vim "+HgCiDiff()" It kind of works, but I would like that splited window would be in right side (now it opens up in left) and mercurial message would be focused window. Also :wq could be setted as temporary shortcut to :wq<CR>:q! (having an assumption that mercurial message is is focused). Any suggestions to make this a bit more useful and less chunky? UPDATE: I found vim split guide so changing vnew with rightbelow vnew opens up diff on the right side.

• IE7 modal dialog scrollbars overlap content

  Here's the offending code. However, if I open it in an IE7 modal dialog, it draws the vertical scrollbar on top of the margin. What's even worse, because it draws the scrollbar on top of the margin, it also causes a horizontal scrollbar to be drawn. How do I work around this? I absolutely must use the IE modal dialog, I'm not at liberty to change that.

Then, I purchased a domain redirect pointing on my website and when redirecting suddenly internet explorer 7 and internet explorer 8 give me this error Messagge: is not a valid argument.
