• Maven webapp with Eclipse and WTP plugin deploy files in stranges ways in Tomcat

  Hi, I use Eclipse J2EE 3.5 with Maven and tomcat. To deploy my maven webapp with WTP I added a Dynamic Web Module facet and changed the "org.eclipse.wst.common.component" file of the project because the webapp is not in a WebContent directory, here is the content of the file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <project-modules id="moduleCoreId" project-version="1.5.0"> <wb-module deploy-name="tkey-ca-web"> <wb-resource deploy-path="/" source-path="/src/main/webapp"/> <wb-resource deploy-path="/WEB-INF/classes" source-path="/src/main/java"/> <wb-resource deploy-path="/WEB-INF/classes" source-path="/src/main/resources"/> <property name="context-root" value="toto"/> <property name="java-output-path" value="/toto/target/classes"/> </wb-module> </project-modules> But it never deploy the content correctly, in "workspace.metadata.plugins\org.eclipse.wst.server.core\tmp1\wtpwebapps\toto\" the directory structure is correct with WEB-INF and META-INF but empty, the jsp, html, css files are in "workspace.metadata.plugins\org.eclipse.wst.server.core\tmp1\wtpwebapps\toto\WEB-INF\classes\" with another WEB-INF and META-INF structure but with the files. Yes No We would like to summarize each attendees selection based on the choices chosen by him. If the provided answers were [No, No, Yes, Yes, Yes]. Then we would summarize this as "The instructor was not able to summarize course objectives and learning outcomes clearly, but was available for usually helpful outside of class. The instructor feedback and grading process was clear and helpful and I feel that my oral and written skills have improved because of this course. Based on the selections chosen by the attendee the summary would be quite different. This leads to many answers based on the choices selected and the number of such questions in the survey. The questions are usually provided by the training organization. How do you come up with a generic solution so that this can be effectively translated into a human readable form. I am looking for tools or libraries (java based), suggestions which will help me create such human readable output. I would like to hide the complexity from the end users as much as possible.

• Capturing exit status from STDIN in Perl

  I have a perl script that is run with a command like this: /path/to/binary/executable | /path/to/perl/script.pl The script does useful things to the output for the binary file, then exits once STDIN runs out (< returns undef). This is all well and good, except if the binary exits with a non-zero code. From the script's POV, it thinks the script just ended cleanly, and so it cleans up, and exits, with a code of 0. Is there a way for the perl script to see what the exit code was? Ideally, I'd want something like this to work: # close STDIN, and if there was an error, exit with that same error. unless (close STDIN) { print "error closing STDIN: $! • dynamic check_box using field_for in rails

  I have a many-to-many relationship with a link box, and I want to pull those models together into one form so I can update from the same page. I'm really struggling with getting the check_box to even show all the elements of my array - I've scoured the net and been working on this literally all day, and I'm finding it difficult to apply the information I'm reading to my problem. I'm also extremely new to RoR and I've been following a bit of an outdated video tutorial (pre 2.0) so apologies for my code. So far, I've got it to output only one key pair in the array (the last one) - although outside the form, the code used in the tutorial works exactly how it should. Thats of little use though! Host is the model for which the main form is for, and Billing is the outside model that I'm trying to add to the form.   Hello, I have an array structure that have to be converted to MXML. I know of PEAR XML_Serialize extension but it seems the output format it produces is a bit different. PHP generated XML: <zone columns="3"> <select column="1" /> <select column="4" /> </zone> MXML format: <mx:zone columns="3"> <mx:select column="1" /> <mx:select column="4" /> </mx:zone> Is that "mx:" prefix required for all the tags? If yes, can I make the XML_Serialize put it before each tag (without renaming my data structure fields to "mx:something")? • Qt - no such signal error

  I'm trying to trigger a signal when a double click happens in one of the draggable widgets on the fridge magnets example. Here's the changes I made to the example source: DragLabel: class DragLabel : public QLabel { public: DragLabel(const QString &text, QWidget *parent); QString labelText() const; public slots: void testSlot(){qDebug()<<"testSlot";} //<-- implemented this slot protected: void mouseDoubleClickEvent(QMouseEvent *ev){emit testSignal();} //<-- overriden this method private: QString m_labelText; signals: void testSignal(); //<-- added this signal }; The only thing I changed in the implementation file is adding connect(this,SIGNAL(testSignal()),this,SLOT(testSlot())); to DragLabel's constructor. Trying to compile the project resulted in 'undefined reference to `DragLabel::testSignal()' and 'collect2: ld returned 1 exit status' errors. When I comment out the call to the signal, it compiles and runs, but gives off 'Object::connect: No such signal QLabel::testSignal() in draglabel.cpp' warning in the application output. Apparently testSignal() isn't being recognized as a signal. What am I missing?

  I need to find a way to show the value of a custom attribute in place of the "Product Name" shown in the image below. EDIT: So the answer turned out to be quite simple. You see what I failed to mention above was that there was indeed output... but that it was just a number (eg: 52). Turns out this was the ID for that custom attribute value (It was a Dropdown type of custom attribute). So in summary This works for custom attributes of type text: echo $this->htmlEscape($_item->getYearmade()) But for all other types of custom attribute (I think), the following should be used: echo $this->htmlEscape($_item->getAttributeText('yearmade')) I would not have discovered this without the most excellent answer provided by Alan Storm, below.   I have a remote share in windows 7 and accessing the same share from windows 2008. • How to avoid game rendering component circular references?

  I'm working on a simple game design, and I wanted to break up my game objects into more reusable components. But I'm getting stuck on how exactly to implement the design I have in mind. Here's an example: I have a Logger object, whose job is simply to store a list of messages and render them to screen. You know, logging. Originally the Logger just held the list, and the game loop rendered it's contents. Then I moved the rendering logic into the Logger.Draw() method, and now I want to move it further into a LoggerRenderer object. In effect, I want to have the game loop call RenderAll, which will then call Logger.Render, which will in turn call the LoggerRenderer.Render and finally output the text. So the Logger needs to contain a Renderer object, but the Renderer needs access to the Logger's state (the message queue) in order to render. How do I resolve that? Should I be passing in the message queue and other state information explicitly to the Render method? Or should the game loop be calling the Renderer directly and it links back to the logger, but the RenderAll method never actually sees the logger object itself? This feels kind of like Command pattern, but I'm botching it up terribly.

  I'm having a difficult time understanding how to get Rails to show explicitly the error messages that a child resource is failing on when I render an XML template. Hypothetically, I have the following classes: class School < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :students validates_associated :students end class Student < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :school validates_format_of :email, :with => /^([^@\s]+)@((?:[-a-z0-9]+\.)+[a-z]{2,})$/i, :message => "You must supply a valid email" end Now, in the controller, let's say we want to build a trivial API to allow us to add a new School with a student in it (again, I said, it's a terrible example, but plays its role for the purpose of the question) class SchoolsController < ApplicationController def create @school = School.new @student = school.students.build @student.email = "bad@email" respond_to do |format| if @school.save # some code else format.xml { render :xml => @school.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } end end end end Now the validation is working just fine, things die because the email doesn't match the regex that's set in the validates_format_of method in the Student class. However the output I get is the following: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <errors> <error>Students is invalid</error> </errors> I want the more meaningful error message that I set above with validates_format_of to show up. Meaning, I want it to say: <error>You must supply a valid email</error> What am I doing wrong for that not to show up?

  Hi folks, I want to fetch data from the LinkedIn API for that I am using the Scribe library.All requests are giving me data as expected but when I tried two facet in the url then scribe is not able to get data from LinkedIn API. However, as I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing, depending on the WHERE statement at the end of my stored procedure, it either returns everything within the table or nothing at all. • Making a 64 bit shared library that dynamically links to a 32 bit library on Mac OS X Snow Leopard

  Update: After some more reading I see that this problem is totally general, you can't mix architectures in the same process, so 64 bit Java cannot dlopen() a 32 bit library like FMOD. Is there any possible workaround for this, keeping in mind I'm writing my own C interface to the FMOD library? I need to make a 64-bit dylib on Max OS X because Java Native Access only likes 64-bit libraries on 64-bit machines. The problem is, my C source code dynamically includes FMOD which on Mac only provides 32-bit dylibs.   Hi guys I'm developing a ASP.Net web handler that returns images making a in-memory System.Windows.Forms.Control and then exports the rendered control as a bitmap compressed to PNG, using the method DrawToBitmap(). The classes are fully working by now, except for a problem with the color assignment. By example, this is a Gauge generated by the web handler. The colors assigned to the inner parts of the gauge are red (#FF0000), yellow (#FFFF00) and green (#00FF00) but I only get a dully version of each color (#CB100F for red, #CCB70D for yellow and #04D50D for green). The background is a bmp file containing the color gradient. The color loss happens whether the background is a gradient as the sample, a black canvas, a white canvas, a transparent canvas, even when there is not a background set. With black background With transparent background With a white background Without a background set With pixel format in Format32bppArgb I've tried multiple bitmap color deeps, output formats, compression level, etc. but none of them seems to work. Any ideas?   Hi I have fully working project in .net 3.5SP1, with EF 1 ORM. I tried to upgrade to .net 4. No issue while upgrading... Then i ran the project and got a NullExecptionError, with no stack trace... and no way to debug.   Here's a regex that I've cobbled up: /(.*={76}\s)?\s*(.*?)\s\-\-\s(\d{2}\/\d{2}\-\d{2}\s\d{2}:\d{2})\s\s(.*?)\s(http:\/\/service.*?)\s(\-{76})/is and here's the text I will be parsing: http://p.linode.com/7015 and here's the replacement for the matched text: <item>\n\t<title>$2</title>\n\t<pubDate>$pubDate</pubDate>\n\t<description>$4</description>\n\t<link>$5</link>\n</item>\n\n I have almost come up with a regex needed to parse a block of text into RSS 2.0 XML markup. I've tested it with RegExr and RegexBuddy and it works perfectly except for the last "item" where there is no line breaks after the link (Line 269). In short, the problem is the "iProperty" article in the text is not matched. Any regex gurus willing to help me troubleshoot what's wrong? I've tried /(.*={76}\s)?\s*(.*?)\s\-\-\s(\d{2}\/\d{2}\-\d{2}\s\d{2}:\d{2})\s\s(.*?)\s(http:\/\/service.*?)\s*(\-{76})/is Here's the output that I get: http://p.linode.com/7016 but that didn't work as I expected (i.e. a newline would be optional).   I'm compiling my code via the following command: icc -ltbb test.cxx -o test Then when I run the program: time ./mp6 100 > output.modified Floating exception 4.871u 0.405s 0:05.28 99.8% 0+0k 0+0io 0pf+0w I get a "Floating exception". This following is code in C++ that I had before the exception and after: // before if (j < E[i]) { temp += foo(0, trr[i], ex[i+j*N]); } // after temp += (j < E[i])*foo(0, trr[i], ex[i+j*N]); This is boolean algebra... so (j < E[i]) is either going to be a 0 or a 1 so the multiplication would result either in 0 or the foo() result. I don't see why this would cause a floating exception. This is what foo() does: int foo(int s, int t, int e) { switch(s % 4) { case 0: return abs(t - e)/e; case 1: return (t == e) ? 0 : 1; case 2: return (t < e) ? 5 : (t - e)/t; case 3: return abs(t - e)/t; } return 0; } foo() isn't a function I wrote so I'm not too sure as to what it does... but I don't think the problem is with the function foo().   I like the idea of making research available at multiple levels of detail i.e., abstract for the casually curious, full text for the more interested, and finally the data and code for those working in the same area/trying to reproduce your results. In between the actual text and the data/code level, I'd like to insert another layer. Namely, I'd like to create a kind of automatically generated appendix that contains the full regression output, diagnostic plots, exploratory graphs data profiles etc. from the analysis, regardless of whether those plots/regressions etc. made it into the final paper. One idea I had was to write a script that would examine the .Rnw file and automatically: Profile all data sets that are loaded (sort of like the Hmisc(?) package) Summarize all regressions - i.e., run summary(model) for all models Present all plots (regardless of whether they made it in the final version) The idea is to make this kind of a low-effort, push-button sort of thing as opposed to a formal appendix written like the rest of a paper. What I'm looking for is some ideas on how to do this in R in a relatively simple way. My hunch is that there is some way of going through the namespace, figuring out what something is and then dumping into a PDF. Thoughts? Does something like this already exist?

• jQuery scrollTo plugin to scroll screen to div wouldn't work, why?

  Hi all: I am working on a web application, whose mock-up page can now be found at: our server If you click on the blue title "step1" and then choose the option of "delivery to address", a form will show up using jQuery ajax load. No problem for this. Click on the "venue" radio button will take you to another form, no problem for this as well. If you scroll down a bit, you can see a textarea, top of that you can see a link called "what's this?". Click on it and the textarea shall be filled with sample words. The problem is, after clicking on the link, the webpage automatically scrolls to the top section. What I want is to keep the textarea to the center of screen after link is clicked. I am trying to use a jQuery plugin called "scrollTo", which can be found here From its demo page I can tell is what I want.
