• Silverlight using WCF Ria with POCOS gives edit operation error

  Hi, I have converted an Entity framework project to use POCO objects by removing the entity data model and the domain service and meta data classes. My silverlight project works as it is showing a datagrid of Employee objects. I have not added a DataForm and when I modify the "name" property of one of my Employee objects, I get the error: This EntitySet of type 'TestEmployeesApp.Web.Employee' does not support the 'Edit' operation. The error occurs on validatingProperty() on the class Entity on the client side. I checked the metadata on the server side, and all my properties have the attribute Editable(true). I am using Silverlight 3 with VS2008. JD

  I have a Document object initialized in the init() method of the servlet and use it in the doPost() method to service the requests. selectNodeList() xpath query gives exception when the servlet services many request at same time. • Spring-Security with X509?

  I am new to spring-security in general and am a bit confused. The project I am trying to integrate this with uses X509 certificates to identify users for signing in to the application. There are no usernames or passwords. We validate the certificates are good, and that they have been given access to our app. The question is how do I integrate spring in to this to get their roles using the X509 certificates? I have seen this: <http> ... <x509 subject-principal-regex="CN=(.*?)," user-service-ref="userService"/> ... </http> But I don't understand how this works. Will it still require something for a password? Or is the subject all it needs?

  I have a headless Ubuntu 12.04 server for files and printers. It shares files via Samba just fine. However, the HP PSC-750xi connected to the server via USB is not accessible from my Ubuntu 12.04 laptop. I can browse for it in the Printing control panel, but any attempt to authenticate my ID to the printer with my user credentials results in the error "This print share is not accessible". I have included the Samba smb.conf file below. Any help appreciated. Thanks... • LazyInitializationException when adding to a list that is held within a entity class using hibernate

  Right so i am working with hibernate gilead and gwt to persist my data on users and files of a website. my users have a list of file locations. i am using annotations to map my classes to the database. i am getting a org.hibernate.LazyInitializationException when i try to add file locations to the list that is held in the user class. this is a method below that is overridden from a external file upload servlet class that i am using. when the file uploads it calls this method. the user1 is loaded from the database elsewhere. the exception occurs at user1.getFileLocations().add(fileLocation); After profiling the application I noticed a lot of time is being taking up by creating the appropriate WCF client proxy and making the call to the server. The code on the server is optimised and doesn't take any time to run yet I am still seeing a 1.5 second delay from when a service is invloked to it returning to the client. A few points to give a bit of background: I am using the ASP.Net membership for security I will eventually hook into the same server side code through a website I would eventually like to have offline support in the application I really need to nail the performance early though as if the app is taking a couple of seconds to come back it is too long for what I am trying to do. Can anyone suggest performance tips that will help me please?

  I started working on an Asp.net MVC website using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 a while ago. Just recently, I managed to get my hands on a copy of Visual Studio 2008 Professional (through DreamSpark). I installed the Service Pack, and also the MVC2 files for Visual Studio. However, now I can't open my project anymore. When I try to open the solution in Visual Studio, it tells me that the project type is not supported. Does this mean that I have to resort to using VWD Express again? Note: I installed MVC2 through the Web Platform Installer, and it says that it installed successfully, but yet when I restart the WPI, the box next to MVC2 isn't checked; if I check it and click "Install", it finishes the install process instantly and tells me that it was successful.

  SQL Server Reporting Services, in SSRS it seems like Schedules never fire, however a look at the SQL Agent reveals a permission issue related to not being able to resolve a user account. Seems SQL Agent does not rely on caching or whatever voodoo Windows magically works. link text Fix is listed here... edit -- Above is the fix I used to workaround this issue, has any one found any other work arounds or resolutions to this issue? It seems that by default the SSRS Generated Schedules are run as this phantom user account. How do I change this default? Is SSRS creating the jobs as the user the service runs as? Thanks Remus

  Hi, I have a requirement to work on a VS2003 web project. I have VS2008,vs2010,vs2003 installed in my system Other System details are Windows Xp professional version 2 service pack 3. IIS 5.1 When i am trying to create a VS 2003 web project giving the localhost as path i am getting the following error. "visual studio noted that specified web server is not running under asp .net 1.1 version.You will be unable to run asp .net web applications or services". I have used aspnet_regiis commands as well as a tool(ASPNETVersionSwitcher.exe ) to swith versions and in iis also default web site asp.net version chosen as asp .net 1.14322. Still i am getting the error. same error i get ,if i point a virtual directory in the existing 1.1 .net web application and trying to open it. Please advise since i have to work on this project as soon as possible. Thanks SNA

• Specifying culture for http request/reponse

  I have a ReSTful web service which needs to parse culture-sensitive data from the request. This data could either be in an XML body or part of the query string. Is there any acepted way of determining which culture the data is being sent in (and by extension the culture in which the response should be sent)? One option is simply to specify to the clients the culture in which all requests should be sent. A friendlier option seems to be to allow the client to specify the culture. I've considered: a) using the accept-language http header to encode this information. b) using the xml:lang attribute for XML POSTs, and an extra field for query strings (e.g. ...&culture=en-GB) http://www.w3.org/International/questions/qa-accept-lang-locales warns of limitations in using the accept-language header, but most of the warnings seem to center around requests originating from browsers. In my case the requests will come from other applications. All advice greatly appreciated!

• Spring 3 JSON with MVC

  Is there a way to build Spring Web calls that consume and produce application/json formatted requests and responses respectively? Maybe this isn't Spring MVC, I'm not sure. I'm looking for Spring libraries that behave in a similar fashion to Jersey/JSON. The best case would be if there was an annotation that I could add to the Controller classes that would turn them into JSON service calls. A tutorial showing how to build Spring Web Services with JSON would be great. EDIT: I'm looking for an annotation based approach (similar to Jersey). EDIT2: Like Jersey, I am looking for REST support (POST,GET,DELETE,PUT). EDIT3: Most preferably, this will be the pom.xml entries and some information on using the spring-js with jackson Spring native version of things.

  So I'm using Visual C++ 6.0, and trying to compile some source code, but upon compilation I get this: Linking... LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file "Iphlpapi.lib" Error executing link.exe. I'm using the correct SDK, and the directories are correct. I've checked, double checked, and triple checked. The file is the specified directory. I can't figure out what the problem is. Any ideas? Service Pack 6 SDK for Windows Server 2003 SP1 //Sounds odd, since I'm running XP SP3, but this has worked for me in the past. Like I've said, it worked in the past for me, flawlessly. I don't understand why it won't work now.

• Consume a WebService with Integrated authentication from WPF windows application

  I have written a WPF windows application that consumes a .net WebService. This works fine when the web service in hosted to allow anonymous connections, however the WebService I need to consume when we go live will be held within a website that has Integrated Authentication enabled. The person running the WPF application will be logged onto a computer within the same domain as the web server and will have permission to see the WebService (without entering any auth info) if browsing to it using a web browser that is NTLM auth enabled. Is it possible to pass through the details of the already logged in user running the application to the WebService? • substitution of someaddress.com on local desktop computer

  Here is VDS server with ip(for example 105.123.123.123) with working apache service. And there is a desktop computer with linux on board(but really I presume there is no difference). I need to type on web browser address like someaddress.com and to see website situated at my server. My /etc/hosts: 127.0.0.1 localhost 105.123.123.123 someaddress.com 105.123.123.123 www.someaddress.com But it doesn't work. I see real someaddress.com website. What can be wrong. It will be great if you help me with that. P.S. Why I need this. There is one project with fixed links(like someaddress.com/inf). And I need to test it.

  Hey guys, I am trying to use the Jets3t library within an Android application, and I keep getting errors with the Rest service when I use the library. 04-27 16:47:39.491: ERROR/S3Service(225): Couldn't initialize a sax driver for the XMLReader I have tried to include the Xerces library and the Crimson library, and it dont play well. I get this error: Attempt to include a core class (java.* or javax.*) in something other than a core library. It is likely that you have attempted to include in an application the core library (or a part thereof) from a desktop virtual machine. This will most assuredly not work. At a minimum, it jeopardizes the compatibility of your app with future versions of the platform. It is also often of questionable legality. If you really intend to build a core library -- which is only appropriate as part of creating a full virtual machine distribution, as opposed to compiling an application -- then use the "--core-library" option to suppress this error message. Is there something I can do to get it working ?
