My question is: why if I run some file with name aliases for example with content such as: alias lsa="ls -a" directly: $ ./aliases it don't create the alias (may be only in script context). But if I run it with command "source": $ source aliases it do the work? I mean after execution the alias "lsa" existing in context of command shell? "man source" give: "No manual entry for source", and in google I just found that it runs Tcl, but why Tcl influence shell context and bush not?

Windows 2003 routing by port

I have remote Windows 2003 server with two network interfaces e.g. Cn1 and Cn2. I need that all traffic goes through Cn1 except for one port (for me it's 3389, rdp for administration) that works over Cn2. Currently when I setup all connections work through Cn1, I completely lose connection over Cn2 - and can't connect to server via RDP over Cn2. Now I used static routing based on my ip address (which can changed - so it's bad).

Possible Duplicate: sudo unable to write to /etc/profile I want to do: echo "something" >> /etc/config_file But, since only the root user has write permission to this file, I can't do that. But this: sudo echo "something" >> /etc/config_file also doesn't work. Is there any way to append to a file in that situation without having to first open it with a sudo'd editor and then appending the new content by hand?

Encrypt windows 8 file history

File history is great but it saves your files on the external drive without any encryption and stores them using the exact same folder structure as the originals. If a bad guy gets his hands on the hard drive it could basically not be easier to get to your important files. Is there any way to encrypt the file history backup without breaking its functionality and without having to encrypt the original content itself? Thanks for your input!

While connected to a VPN (SwissVPN service), a content filter at a site I'm working at blocked a web page. This was perplexing, since the local site's filter should not be able to see my traffic, right? So I assume my web browsing activity was not going through the VPN tunnel. How can I configure the OS to send ALL traffic though the currently connected VPN tunnel? I'm using OSX Lion and Windows 7. Thanks!

Streaming from a second computer

I play games on my laptop, and they run at about 30-45 fps, which is bearable for me. But when I try to stream, the frame rate drops to 20 or lower, which is unplayable for me. I have a second computer though (a Mac, the laptop is Win7), and I'm wondering if there is anyway to stream the game content (onto Twitch.tv) from my laptop using my Mac. Is this possible, and how would I go about doing it?

I currently have nginx proxying for Thin, but set up to serve static files for the app that Thin is serving instead of proxying the request. What I'd like to know is how I can check that the rules are set up correctly. Since Thin doesn't log requests, I would need to set up nginx logs in such a way that it shows which requests were served as files and which were passed to Thin. Is this even possible? If so, how?

Its is waiting for something. So when I cancel and try to update manually on server, I see: Working copy "." lockedsvn And only after manual cleanup and update again, I get updated revision, that was really commited. What I do wrong?

When i connecting to the server from home in Remote Desktop Session Manager i see in client status dialog a local ip address of client behind the nat box not WAN ip address of nat box. I suppose i must see the WAN ip address of the nat box in Remote Desktop Session Manager, isnt it?

An svn server that I managed crashed. The server is up and running again, but I can't manage to get svn running anymore. what TERM to use to get rid of color escape codes?

Is there a way to get rid of escape codes in terminal output? Say even if the script are sending that codes they are ignored by terminal and text displayed as is, without colors, bolds etc. I need to display terminal output on a HTML page. For now i'm using javascript to remove escape codes, but it becomes clunky cause i receive output by chars, and have to wait until all content received then update it, leading in weird effects.

Problem connecting to Hsqldb via Hibernate when running a Eclipse GWT project.

Hi, I'm trying to run a simple GWT project where I'm trying to do a simple persitence via hibernate to a HSQLDB database. The database I'm using I have been using for at least 2 years with several osgi applications without any problems. So all I done is reused the same configuration and added a simple object mapping file. The problem I have is that I get a socket creation error when ever I try to persist the object with in GWT jetty. I now the database is up and running, I can telnet to it, run OSGI projects that uses the same config with out problems. How to use onSensorChanged sensor data in combination with OpenGL

I have written a TestSuite to find out how to calculate the rotation angles from the data you get in SensorEventListener.onSensorChanged(). I really hope you can complete my solution to help people who will have the same problems like me. Here is the code, i think you will understand it after reading it. Feel free to change it, the main idea was to implement several methods to send the orientation angles to the opengl view or any other target which would need it. method 1 to 4 are working, they are directly sending the rotationMatrix to the OpenGl view. all other methods are not working or buggy and i hope someone knows to get them working. i think the best method would be method 5 if it would work, because it would be the easiest to understand but i'm not sure how efficient it is. the complete code isn't optimized so i recommend to not use it as it is in your project. here it is: import java.nio.ByteBuffer; Android app crashes on emulator - logCat shows no errors

I have just added the SherlockActionBar library to my android project. After some small changes (FragmentActivity - SherlockFragmentActivity, getActionBar() - getSupportActionBar(), imports) it all compiled nicely. After I run the app, however, the debugger stops, as though it had encountered an exception. However, there are no errors shown in the LogCat output. I just can't wrap my head around what's going on. Hi, I'm trying to build a chart program using presentation model. Using JGoodies for data binding was relatively easy for simple types like strings or numbers. But I can't figure out how to use it on a hashmap. I'll try to explain how the chart works and what my problem is: A chart consists of DataSeries, a DataSeries consists of DataPoints. I want to have a data model and to be able to use different views on the same model (e.g. bar chart, pie chart,...). Each of them consists of three classes. For example: DataPointModel: holds the data model (value, label, category) DataPointViewModel: extends JGoodies PresentationModel. wraps around DataPointModel and holds view properties like font and color. DataPoint: abstract class, extends JComponent. Different Views must subclass and implement their own ui. Hi, I have situation in with I stucked and don't know way out. The problem is in my bigger model, but I have made small example which shows the same problem. I have 4 tables. I called them SuperParent, NamedParent, TypedParent and ParentType. NamedParent and TypedParent derives from superParent. TypedParent has one to many association with ParentType. I describe mapping for entities using queryView. The problem is then I want to get TypedParents and Include ParentType I get the following exception: An error occurred while preparing the command definition. I have tried using AssociationSetMapping instead of using Association with ReferentialConstraint. But then couldn't insert related entities at once, becouse entity framework didn't provided entity key of inserted entities for related entities. Thanks for any idea
