• Multiple Jira instances on a single Tomcat 6 server?

  I have a feeling this is a stupid question but I can't find the answer anywhere... I need to deploy 2 Jira instances on asingle Tomcat server, I can't figure out how to pass in the jira.home property The documentation says I need to:- Add a web context property called 'jira.home' — this property is set in different files depending on your application server. For example, for Tomcat (and therefore for JIRA Standalone), you will need to configure the server.xml file. For other application servers you may need to configure the web.xml file, or set 'Context parameter' options on the deployment UI of the application server, etc. Note that If you have specified a JIRA home in jira-application.properties (ie. the recommended method), it will override your web context property. • IE9 selectAllChildren on an out-of-view element

  I am trying to replicate a service that is provided by Tynt.com that appends some text to a user's selection when copying. I understand that users don't particularly like this, but it is a client's request to append the URL and copyright notice whenever a user copies something from their website. In current browsers, I am able to do this by creating a DOM element, adding the selected text, appending the copyright text and then selecting the new node: var newSelection = document.createElement( 'div' ); newSelection.style.cssText = "height: 1px; width: 1px; overflow: hidden;"; if( window.getSelection ) { var selection = window.getSelection( ); if( selection.getRangeAt ) { var range = selection.getRangeAt( 0 ); newSelection.appendChild( range.cloneContents( ) ); appendCopyright( ); document.body.appendChild( newSelection ); selection.selectAllChildren( newSelection ); // ... remove element, return selection } } In IE9, this errors out on the selection.selectAllChildren( newSelection ) statement and I was able to figure out that this is because newSelection was effectively "hidden" from the viewport due to the styles applied in the second line above. Commenting that out works, but obviously the new node is shown to the end user. It appears that this was resolved in later versions of IE, but I am having trouble coming up with a workaround that is sufficient for IE9, a browser that I need to support. I've tried a variety of alternatives, like setting visibility: hidden;, positioning it off-screen, and trying some alternative selection functions, but they each present different problems. The error thrown by IE is: SCRIPT16389: Unspecified error.

• How to forward a 'saved' request stream to another Action within the same controller?

  We have a need to chunk-up large http requests sent by our mobile devices. These smaller chunk streams are merged to a file on the server. Once all chunks are received we need a way to submit the saved merged request to an another method(Action) within the same controller that will process this large http request. How can this be done? The code we tried below results in the service hanging. • PHP/JQuery/AJAX, few teething problems...

  Morning/Afternoon guys. Writing some JQuery AJAX shizz and getting a bit stuck. I've got the actual proccess of calling the php file done perfectly, its just trying to get the html on the page to change in a way I want it to. I want to get rid of the a with the id of the one used in the ajax call etc, and replace it with the html passed from the PHP file. • ASP.NET MVC, areas, routing and a controller factory.

  Hi, I've an interesting problem with some routing with an ASP.NET MVC app. I'm building a CMS and I've got a catch-all handler that takes the URL and checks to see if there's some matching content in a database. If so, it displays it, otherwise we get a 404. Now I've got all that working with some test data, I moved on to write a quick admin system. I thought I'd use some of the new Area functionality baked into MVC 2, so I've created an area called Admin with a controller called Home. Now however I have a problem of the default HomeController in the Admin Area is being returned when requesting the application root path. The problem is that there is no other HomeController for the 'root' application (the one hosting all of the areas), instead the root would be redirected to the my catch-all handler and populated from the database. So now the controller factory is returning the best matching controller, which it thinks is the admin area one, what I really need is for it to not match it at all - as it did previously. Apart from renaming the Admin HomeController to something else, is there another solution?

• ASP.NET MVC - Entending the Authorize Attribute

  Hi folks, currently I use [Authorize(Roles = ".....")] to secure my controller actions on my ASP.NET MVC 1 app, and this works fine. However, certain search views need to have buttons that route to these actions that need to be enabled/disabled based on the record selected on the search list, and also the security privs of the user logged in. Therefore I think I need to have a class accessing a DB table which cross-references these target controller/actions with application roles to determine the state of these buttons. This will, obviously, make things messy as privs will need to be maintained in 2 places - in that class/DB table and also on the controller actions (plus, if I want to change the access to the action I will have to change the code and compile rather than just change a DB table entry). Ideally I would like to extend the [Authorize] functionality so that instead of having to specify the roles in the [Authorize] code, it will query the security class based on the user, controller and action and that will then return a boolean allowing or denying access. Are there any good articles on this - I can't imagine it's an unusual thing to want to do, but I seem to be struggling to find anything on how to do it (could be Monday-morning brain). I've started some code doing this, looking at article http://schotime.net/blog/index.php/2009/02/17/custom-authorization-with-aspnet-mvc/ , and it seems to be starting off ok but I can't find the "correct" way to get the calling controller and action values from the httpContext - I could possibly fudge a bit of code to extract them from the request url, but that doesn't seem right to me and I'd rather do it properly. • Upload image from J2ME client to a Servlet

  I want to send an image from a J2ME client to a Servlet. Their values are 0A and 0D hex. Exactly, the Carriage Return and Line Feed. Thus, either POST method or readLine() are not able to accept 0A and 0D values. Any one have any idea how to do this, or how to use any another method?

  I've set up django-filebrowser in my app without any bugs, I already had django-tinymce set up and it loads the editor in the admin forms.   I am new Pentaho Reporting Tool. I have the following question: When I created a report using Pentaho Report Designer, it output a report file having .prpt extension. So as we haven't specified any datasource information here, I think that the .prpt file contains that information in it. If that's true than Isn't Jasper is better Reporting tool than Pentaho because when we display Jasper reports, we have to provide datasource details also so in that way our report is flexible and is not bound to any particular database.

My problem is that I can't get the fields to display although displaying the hidden fields works just fine. • Call long running operation in WSS feature OnActivated Event

  More specifically - How do I reference SPContext in Web Service with [SoapDocumentMethod(OneWay=true)]? We are creating a feature that needs to run a job when a site is created. The job takes about 4 minutes to complete. So, we made a web service that we can call when the feature is activated. This works but we want it to run asynchronously now. We've found the SoapDocumentMethod's OneWay property and that would work awesomely but the SPContext is now NULL. We have our web services in the _vti_bin virtual directory so it's available in each Windows Sharepoint Services site. I was using the SPContext.Current.Web to get the site and perform the long running operation. I wanted to just fire and forget about it by returning a soap response right away and letting the process run. How can I get the current SPContext? I used to be able to do this in my web service: SPWeb mySite = SPContext.Current.Web; Can I get the same context when I have the [SoapDocumentMethod(OneWay=true)] attribute applied to my web service? Or must I recreate the SPWeb from the url? • Using maven-release-plugin to tag and commit to non-origin

  When I do a release of my project, I want to share the source with a wider group of people than I normally do during development. The code is shared via a Git repository. To do this, I have used the following: remote public repository - released code is pushed here, every week or so (http://example.com/public) remote private repository - non-release code is pushed here, more than daily (http://example.com/private) In my local git repository, I have the following remotes defined: origin http://example.com/private public http://example.com/public I am currently trying to configure the maven-release-plugin to manage versioning of the builds, and to manage tagging and pushing of code to the public repository. In my pom.xml, I have listed the <scm/ as follows: <scm><connection>scm:git:http://example.com/public</connection></scm> (Removing this line will cause mvn release:prepare to fail) However, when calling mvn release:clean release:prepare release:perform Maven calls git push origin tagname rather than pushing to the URL specified in the POM. So the questions are: Best practice: Should I just be tagging and committing in my private repo (origin), and pushing to public manually? Can I make Maven push to the repository that I choose, rather than defaulting to origin? I felt this was implied by the requirement of the <connection/ element in <scm/.

• How to create an SaaS Application?

  I don't know how else to say it so I'm just going to explain my ideal scenario and hopefully you can explain to me how to implement it... I'm creating an application with the Zend Framework that will be hosted with DreamHost. The application will be hosted on its own domain (i.e. example-app.com). Basically, a user should be able to sign up, get their own domain sampleuser.example-app.com or example-app.com/sampleuser which points to, what looks like their own instance of the app, which is really a single instance serving up different content based on the url. Eventually, I want my users to be able to create their own domain (like foobar.com) that points to sampleuser.example-app.com, such that visitors to foobar.com don't notice that the site is really being served up from example-app.com. I don't know how to do most of that stuff. How does this process work? Do I need to do some funky stuff with Apache or can this be done with a third party host, like DreamHost? Update: Thanks for the advice! I've decided to bite the bullet and upgrade my hosting plan to utilize wildcard subdomains. It's cheaper than I was expecting! I also found out about domain reseller programs, like opensrs.com, that have their own API. I think using one of these APIs will be the solution to my domain registration issue.

  Dear .Net Linq experts, I am looking for a way to query for products in a catalog using filters on properties which have been assigned to the product based on the category to which the product belongs. So I have the following entities involved: Products -Id -CategoryId Categories [Id] Properties [Id, CategoryId] PropertyValues [Id, PropertyId] ProductProperties [ProductId, PropertyValueId] When I ad a product to the catalog, multiple ProductProperties will be added based on the category and I would like to be able to filter all products from a category by selecting values for one or more properties. I will gather all filters, which I will hold in a list, by reading the URL. Now it is time to actually get the products based on multiple properties and I have been trying to find the right strategy but untill now it does not really work. Is there a way to make this work without writing SQL? I was trying something like this: productsInCategory = ProductRepository.Where(p => p.Category.Name == category); foreach (PropertyFilter pf in filterList) { productsInCategory = (from product in productsInCategory join pp in ProductPropertyRepository on product.Id equals pp.ProductId where pp.PropertyValueId == pf.ValueId select product); }

• Django Class Views and Reverse Urls

  I have a good many class based views that use reverse(name, args) to find urls and pass this to templates. However, the problem is class based views must be instantiated before urlpatterns can be defined. This means the class is instantiated while urlpatterns is empty leading to reverse throwing errors. I've been working around this by passing lambda: reverse(name, args) to my templates but surely there is a better solution. As a simple example the following fails with exception: ImproperlyConfigured at xxxx The included urlconf mysite.urls doesn't have any patterns in it mysite.urls from mysite.views import MyClassView urlpatterns = patterns('', url(r'^$' MyClassView.as_view(), name='home') ) views.py class MyClassView(View): def get(self, request): home_url = reverse('home') return render_to_response('home.html', {'home_url':home_url}, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) home.html <p><a href={{ home_url }}>Home</a></p> I'm currently working around the problem by forcing reverse to run on template rendering by changing views.py to class MyClassView(View): def get(self, request): home_url = lambda: reverse('home') return render_to_response('home.html', {'home_url':home_url}, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) and it works, but this is really ugly and surely there is a better way. So is there a way to use reverse in class based views but avoid the cyclic dependency of urlpatterns requiring view requiring reverse requiring urlpatterns...
