    I'm trying to use preg_replace to get some data from a remote page, but I'm having a bit of an issue when it comes to sorting out the pattern. function getData($Url){ $str = file_get_contents($Url); if(strlen($str)>0){ preg_match("/\<span class=\"SectionHeader\"\>title\</span>/<br/>/\<div class=\"header2\"\>(.*)\</div\></span\>/",$str,$title); return $title[1]; } } Here's the HTML as is before I ended up throwing a million slashes at it (looks like I forgot a part or two): <span class="cell CellFullWidth"><span class="SectionHeader">mytitle</span><br/><div class="Center">Event Name</div></span> Where Event Name is the data I want to return in my function.     I'm trying to implement unit tests for function that uses imported external objects. For example helpers.py is: import os import pylons def some_func(arg): ... var1 = os.path.exist(...) var2 = os.path.getmtime(...) var3 = pylons.request.environ['HTTP_HOST'] ... So when I'm creating unit test for it I do some mocking (minimock in my case) and replacing references to pylons.request and os.path: import helpers def test_some_func(): helpers.pylons.request = minimock.Mock("pylons.request") helpers.pylons.request.environ = { 'HTTP_HOST': "localhost" } helpers.os.path = minimock.Mock(....) ... some_func(...) # assert ... This does not look good for me. Is there any other better way or strategy to substitute imported function/objects in Python?

  • Rails: Converting from MySQL to PostGres breaks Geokit Distance Calculations???

    I recently switched my database from MySQL to PostGres. I also use GeoKit. When I started my app up with the new database already seeded, I get the following error: PGError: ERROR: function radians(character varying) does not exist LINE 1: ...COS(0.661045389762993)*COS(-2.12957994527573)*COS(RADIANS(ti... ^ HINT: No function matches the given name and argument types. You might need to add explicit type casts. Anyone know why this is breaking now? I know GeoKit still works because it's still performing the geocoding in the model per ticket when the database is seeded, it just won't do the distance calculations correctly.

  • Use LINQ to count the number of combinations existing in two lists

    I'm trying to create a LINQ query (or queries) that count the total number of occurences of a combinations of items in one list that exist in a different list. For example, take the following lists: CartItems DiscountItems ========= ============= AAA AAA AAA BBB AAA BBB BBB CCC CCC DDD The result of the query operation should be 2 since I can find two combinations of AAA and BBB (from DiscountItems) within the contents of CartItems. My thinking in approaching the query is to join the lists together to shorten CartItems to only include items from DiscountItems. The solution would be to find the CartItem in the resulting query that occurs the least amount of times, thus indicating how many combinations of items exist in CartItems. How can this be done? Here's the query I already have, but it's not working. query results in an enumeration with 100 items, far more than I expected.   • jQuery works in FF but not in Safari

    I have some event handlers that work in FF and not in Safari. Simply put, I have a list of friends, some hard-coded, some pulled in from a database. Clicking on a buddy opens a chat window... this is much like the Facebook chat system. So in Firefox, everything works normally and as expected.   • Why is passing a string literal into a char* arguament only sometimes a compiler error?

    I'm working in a C, and C++ program. We used to be compiling without the make-strings-writable option. But that was getting a bunch of warnings, so I turned it off. Then I got a whole bunch of errors of the form "Cannot convert const char* to char* in argmuent 3 of function foo". So, I went through and made a whole lot of changes to fix those. However, today, the program CRASHED because the literal "" was getting passed into a function that was expecting a char*, and was setting the 0th character to 0. It wasn't doing anything bad, just trying to edit a constant, and crashing. My question is, why wasn't that a compiler error? In case it matters, this was on a mac compiled with gcc-4.0.

  • Python json memory bloat

Just to check if it makes any difference print 'load completed' jsontest(500000) while 1: time.sleep(1) Linux top indicates that the python process holds ~450Mb of RAM after completion of 'jsontest' function. If the call to 'json.loads' is omitted then this issue is not observed. A gc.collect after this function execution does releases the memory. Looks like the memory is not held in any caches or python's internal memory allocator as explicit call to gc.collect is releasing memory. Is this happening because the threshold for garbage collection (700, 10, 10) was never reached ? I did put some code after jsontest to simulate threshold. But it didn't help.

  • pyramid view redirection

    This question title may be slightly incorrect but I could not find a better one (yet). I'm trying to integrate Mozilla Persona (browserid) into a Pyramid application. The login process is: user can login on any page by clicking on the login button a popup then shows a login form when the users enters correct login/password, an ajax call is made by the popup to a pyramid view that checks users credentials, and calls pyramid remember function if the check succeeded the browserid javascript code then reloads the current page Now I want to handle the case of a new user subscribing to the web app and present a new view asking for a few more details (desired username, etc) Since the "remember" function is called by an ajax call from the popup, I cannot redirect the user the the "/newuser" page. So every view needs to redirect new users to the "/newuser" url whenever the remembered browserid has no corresponding user in the database. Is there a way to intercept user requests before calling a view to call the "new_user" view instead ? Or maybe my authentication approach is fundamentally incorrect and I should rely on another approach ?

  • Subtracting Delphi Time Ranges from a Date Range, Calculate Remaining Time

    I'm looking for an algorithm that will help calculate a workday working time length. It would have an input date range and then allow subtracting partially or completely intersecting time range slices from that date range and the result would be the number of minutes (or the fraction/multiple of a day) left in the original date range, after subtracting out the various non-working time slices. For Example: Input date range: 1/4/2010 11:21 am - 1/5/2010 3:00 pm Subtract out any partially or completely intersecting slices like this: Remove all day Sunday Non-Sundays remove 11:00 - 12:00 Non-Sundays remove time after 5:00 pm Non-Sundays remove time before 8:00 am Non-Sundays remove time 9:15 - 9:30 am Output: # of minutes left in the input date range I don't need anything overly-general. I could hardcode the rules to simplify the code. If anyone knows of sample code or a library/function somewhere, or has some pseudo-code ideas, I'd love something to start with. I didn't see anything in DateUtils, for example. Even a basic function that calculates the number of minutes of overlap in two date ranges to subtract out would be a good start.

The use case for this is for a set of serializable objects and types.
