    Hello, I wrote the following: // Called with setTimeout(magicDialogDelayedClose, 2500); function magicDialogDelayedClose() { $(".ui-dialog").fadeOut(function() { dialog_general.dialog('close'); }); } The above is called with setTimeout when I show a notice dialog that I want to auto close in 2.5 secs. The problem I'm noticing with this is that if the use Manually closes a dialog this timer still is running. If the user then opens a new dialog (which is very possible) the timer can then close that NEW dialog. What's a smart way to handle this?j

I am searching 3 hours and didnt find anything.... i have this code which is called at an onChange event of an function group_changed(obj) { $.ajaxSetup({async:false}); $.post("/medilab/personnel/groups/getGroupRightsAjax",{ 'group.id': obj.options[obj.selectedIndex].value }, function(data){ $("#div_rights").html(data); }); } This works fine but if i set async:true sometimes the result doesnt match the selection... I guess that this is happening because some requests are lost or that the responses dont come in order..... Any idea what to do to keep it asynchronous?

    When making an ajax call, when contentType is set to application/json instead of the default x-www-form-urlencoded, server side (in PHP) can't get the post parameters. in the following working example, if I set the contentType to "application/json" in the ajax request, PHP $_POST would be empty. why does this happen?   • Same-directory includes failing on a Fedora server with PHP.

    I have a couple files that look like this: index.php: <?php include('includes/header.php'); ... includes/header.php: <?php include('config.php'); ... The error I get is Warning: require(config.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [dir]/includes/header.php on line 2 Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'config.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php') in [dir]/includes/header.php on line 2 I did some further debugging: when I add the call system('pwd'); to includes/header.php, it shows [dir], where it should say [dir]/includes. Adding the 'includes/' to the include path works, but isn't desirable because that would fail on the production server. The above code works on a production server, and worked fine on my development Fedora server, until I tried to change my development environment so that the Fedora server's document root is a mounted CIFS share. Any ideas? Thanks.

    In my project I have it set up so that all the tables in the DB has the property "id" and then I have the entity objects inherit from the EntityBase class using a repository pattern.   • Getting Postfix to process the mail queue on Mac OS X

    I'm in the process of getting Sendmail/Postfix setup so that I can send and test my PHP scripts when using the mail() function. I've got to the point that when I run the mail() function in PHP, the script executes without any errors and the mail is sent to my mailq but it then does not get processed and simply times-out with a message of: Operation timed out.   • ajaxSubmit and Other Code. Can someone help me determine what this code is doing?

    I've inherited some code that I need to debug. It isn't working at present. My task is to get it to work. No other requirements have been given to me. No, this isn't homework, this is a maintenance nightmare job. ASP.Net (framework 3.5), C#, jQury 1.4.2. This project makes heavy use of jQuery and AJAX. There is a drop down on a page that, when an item is chosen, is supposed to add that item (it's a user) to an object in the database. To accomplish this, the previous programmer first, on page load, dynamically loads the entire page through AJAX. To do this, he's got 5 div's, and each one is loaded from a jquery call to a different full page in the website. Somehow, the HTML and BODY and all the other stuff is stripped out and the contents of the div are loaded with the content of the aspx page. Which seems incredibly wrong to me since it relies on the browser to magically strip out html, head, body, form tags and merge with the existing html head body form tags. What is this code really trying to do? I am so turned around right now that I think my only option is to scrap everything and start over. But I'd rather not do that unless necessary. Is this code good? Is it working against .Net, and is that why we are having issues?

  • Embedded C++, any tips to avoid a local thats only used to return a value on the stack?

    I have a local that's only used for the purposes of checking the result from another function and passing it on if it meets certain criteria. Most of the time, that criteria will never be met. Is there any way I can avoid this "extra" local? I only have about 1MB of storage for my binary, and I have several thousand function calls that follow this pattern. I know it's a minor thing, but if there's a better pattern I'd love to know!   • In FLEX, How can you stop ENTER Key from my Alert being caught by the control that initiated the Al

    I am having an issue where I show an AlertBox message when the user hits ENTER and the focus is in a text area. The pop up works fine, but when the user hits enter the Alert closes as expected, but the TextArea listener receives the ENTER event from the Alert and pops the dialog up again. I have tried a number of ways to catch and eat the event but so far I have not been lucky.   • node_load in drupal gets incorrect node when you are NOT logged in

    Hi All, i have a module and i am using node_load(array('nid' = arg(1))); now the problem is that this function keep getting its data for node_load from DB cache. how can i force this function to not use DB cache or static value? Example my link is http://mydomain.com/node/344983 now: $node=node_load(array('nid'=arg(1)),null,true); echo $node-nid; output: 435632 which is a randomly node id (available in the database) and everytime i ctrl+F5 my browser, i get new nid!! Note: if i am logged in, it gives the result correctly, but this problem happens only when i am browsing the website as an anonymous user i really appreciate any idea!! Thanks

    I was playing with the Stack Exchange Data Explorer and ran this query: http://odata.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/q/2828/rising-stars-top-50-users-ordered-on-rep-per-day Notice down in the results, rows 11 and 12 have the same value and so are mis-numbered, even though the row_number() function takes the same order by parameter as the query. I know the correct fix here is to specify an additional tie-breaker column in the order by clauses, but I'm more curious as to why/how the row_number() function returned different results on the same data? If it makes a difference anywhere, this runs on Azure.

    I am developing a general database query tools, a .Net 3.5 Windows Form application. In order to make the presentation layer is independent of the database layer. I use an ORM framework, XPO from DevExpress. But, I have no access control function built in. I surfed Internet and I found in WCF Data Services, there is an interesting concept, Interceptor, which is following AOP(Aspect Oriented Programming). I am wondering who has such an experience to build access control in ORM. My basic requirement is : It should be a general method and controlled by users in runtime. So any hard coding is not acceptable. It could be based on attribute, database table, or even an external assembly. I am willing to buy a ready solution. According to the idea of AOP, an access control function can be integrated with existing functions easily and nearly not knowingly to the previous developer;) Any suggestions are welcome.

  • Is recursion preferred compare to iteration in multicore era?

    Or say, do multicore CPUs process recursion faster than iteration? Or it simply depends on how one language runs on the machine? like c executes function calls with large cost, comparing to doing simple iterations. I had this question because one day I told one of my friend that recursion isn't any amazing magic that can speed up programs, and he told me that with multicore CPUs recursion can be faster than iteration. EDIT: If we consider the most recursion-loved situation (data structure, function call), is it even possible for recursion to be faster?
