• ERROR: iPhone Private Frameworks "No such file or directory"

  I have added Private Frameworks To my project. When I build in DEVICE | RELEASE everything works fine and I am able to ldid -S the application and it successfully launches on my device. However, when trying to BUILD AND GO in Simulator, I get the error "No such file or directory" as indicated below: (I also get the error twice which is strange too.) Line Location HomeProfileViewController.h:10: error: BluetoothManager/BluetoothManager.h: No such file or directory Below are the project and build settings that I currently have, maybe someone can find a mistake and let me know, that would be awesome! • What is the proper way to handle non-tracking self tracking entities?

  Self tracking entities. Awesome. Except when you do something like return Db.Users; none of the self-tracking entities are tracking (until, possibly, they are deserialized). Fine. So we have to recognize that there is a possibility that an entity returning to us does not have tracking enabled. Now what??? • rails search nested set (categories and sub categories)

  Hello, I am using the http://github.com/collectiveidea/awesome_nested_set awesome nested set plugin and currently, if I choose a sub category as my category_id for an item, I can not search by its parent. Category.parent Category.Child I choose Category.child as the category that my item is in. So now my item has category_id of 4 stored in it. If I go to a page in my rails application, lets say teh Category page and I am on the Category.parent's page, I want to show products that have category_id's of all the descendants as well. So ideally i want to have a find method that can take into account the descendants. You can get the descendants of a root by calling root.descendants (a built in plugin method). How would I go about making it so I can query a find that gets the descendants of a root instead of what its doing now which is binging up nothing unless the product had a specific category_id of the Category.parent. I hope I am being clear here. I either need to figure out a way to create a find method or named_scope that can query and return an array of objects that have id's corresponding tot he descendants of a root OR if I have any other options, what are they? I thought about creating a field in my products table like parent_id which can keep track of the parent so i can then create two named scopes one finding the parent stuff and one finding the child stuff and chaining them. I know I can create a named scope for each child and chain them together for multiple children but this seems a very tedious process and also, if you add more children, you would need to specify more named scopes.

• C# .Net Serial DataReceived Event response too slow for high-rate data.

  Hi, I have set up a SerialDataReceivedEventHandler, with a forms based program in VS2008 express. My serial port is set up as follows: 115200, 8N1 Dtr and Rts enabled ReceivedBytesThreshold = 1 I have a device I am interfacing with over a BlueTooth, USB to Serial. Hyper terminal receives the data just fine at any data rate. The data is sent regularly in 22 byte long packets. This device has an adjustable rate at which data is sent. At low data rates, 10-20Hz, the code below works great, no problems. However, when I increase the data rate past 25Hz, there starts to recieve mulitple packets on one call. What I mean by this is that there should be a event trigger for every incoming packet. With higher output rates, I have tested the buffer size (BytesToRead command) immediatly when the event is called and there are multiple packets in the buffer then. I think that the event fires slowly and by the time it reaches the code, more packes have hit the buffer. One test I do is see how many time the event is trigger per second. At 10Hz, I get 10 event triggers, awesome. At 100Hz, I get something like 40 event triggers, not good. My goal for data rate is 100HZ is acceptable, 200Hz preferred, and 300Hz optimum. This should work because even at 300Hz, that is only 52800bps, less than half of the set 115200 baud rate. • How can you change Network settings (IP Address, DNS, WINS, Host Name) with code in C#

  I am developing a wizard for a machine that is to be used as a backup of other machines. When it replaces an existing machine, it needs to set its IP address, DNS, WINS, and host name to match the machine being replaced. Is there a library in .net (C#) which allows me to do this programatically? There are multiple NICs, each which need to be set individually. EDIT Thannk you TimothyP for your example. It got me moving on the right track and the quick reply was awesome. Thanks balexandre. Your code is perfect. I was in a rush and had already adapted the example TimothyP linked to, but I would have loved to have had your code sooner. I've also developed a routine using similar techniques for changing the computer name. I'll post it in the future so subscribe to this questions RSS feed if you want to be informed of the update. • Error when trying to connect to Jacorb naming service

  I'm hoping to get some help with this weird problem. We're running the Jacorb name server and I have a simple client that I'm using to try to connect and do awesome CORBA voodoo. The name server is running, but when I try to start my java app, I get a "Connection failure" error (org.omg.CORBA.COMM_FAILURE, minor code 201, "caused by java.net.ConnectionException: Connection refused: connect"). Here's the weird part. The error reports that it's trying to connect using the default port 900, but I'm passing in an argument to try to override the port number of the name service to match the one being used by the name server. My java command is like this: java -classpath . HelloClient -Djava.endorsed.dirs="bla bla bla" -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBClass=org.jacorb.orb.ORB -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass=org.jacorb.orb.ORBSingleton -DORBInitRef.NameService=corbaloc::localhost:2809/StandardNS/NameServer-POA/_root I also tried the parameters without the first capital D (I've seen it both ways and I don't know the difference). Now, if I put in -ORBInitialPort 2809, then the client does appear to try to connect, but then I get a corba.OBJECT_NOT_EXIST error. I could use any help or advise anyone has.

  Hi, We are using Nlog as our logging framework and I cannot find a way to archive files the way I want. I would like to have the date of when the logging took place in the logging file name. • Good-practices: How to reuse .csproj and .sln files to create your MSBuild script for CI ?

  What is the painless/maintainable way of using MSBuild as your build runner ? (Forgive the length of this post) I was just trying my hand at TeamCity (which I must say is awesome w.r.t. learning curve and out of the box functionality). I got an SVN MSBuild NUnit NCover combo working. I was curious as to how moderate to large projects are using MSBuild - I've just pointed MSBuild to my Main sln file. I've spent some time with NAnt some years ago and I found MSBuild to be a bit obtuse. The docs are too dense/detailed for a beginner. MSBuild seems to have some special magic to handle .sln files ; I tried my hand at writing a custom build script by hand, linking/including .csproj files in order (such that I could have custom pre-post build tasks). However it threw up (citing duplicate target imports). I'm assuming most devs wouldn't want to go messing around with msbuild proj files - they'd be making changes to the .csproj and .sln files. Is there some tool / MSBuild task that reverse-engineers a new script from an existing .sln + its .csproj files that I'm unaware of ? If I'm using MSBuild just to do the compile step, I might as well use Nant with an exec task to MSBuild for compiling the solution ? I've this nagging feeling that I'm missing something obvious. My end-goal here is to have a MSBuild build script which builds the solution that acts as a build script instead of a compile step. Allows custom pre/post tasks. (e.g. call nunit to run a nunit project (which seems to be not yet supported via the teamcity web UI)) stays out of the way of the developers making changes to the solution. No redundancy ; shouldn't require devs to make the same change in 2 places

• Header Setup in SOAP with ASP.NET 3.5 WCF

I've setup a basic service to make sure the WCF works and it works fine (disregarding the header). I heard that the above format follows WS-Security so I added WSHttpBinding in the web.config: <service name="Nexternal.Service.XMLTools.VNService" behaviorConfiguration="VNServiceBehavior"> <!--The first endpoint would be picked up from the confirg this shows how the config can be overriden with the service host--> <endpoint address="" binding="wsHttpBinding" contract="Nexternal.Service.XMLTools.IVNService"/> </service> I downloaded a test harness (soapUI) and pasted in a test message with the above header and it came back with a 400 Bad Request error. ...for what it's worth, I'm running Visual Studio 2008 using IIS7. • (C#) Get index of current foreach iteration

  Hi, Is there some rare language construct I haven't encountered (like the few I've learned recently, some on Stack Overflow) in C# to get a value representing the current iteration of a foreach loop? For instance, I currently do something like this depending on the circumstances: int i=0; foreach (Object o in collection) { ... i++; } Answers: @bryansh: I am setting the class of an element in a view page based on the position in the list. I guess I could add a method that gets the CSSClass for the Objects I am iterating through but that almost feels like a violation of the interface of that class. @Brad Wilson: I really like that - I've often thought about something like that when using the ternary operator but never really given it enough thought. As a bit of food for thought it would be nice if you could do something similar to somehow add (generically to all IEnumerable objects) a handle on the enumerator to increment the value that an extension method returns i.e. inject a method into the IEnumerable interface that returns an iterationindex. Of course this would be blatant hacks and witchcraft... Cool though... @crucible: Awesome I totally forgot to check the LINQ methods. Hmm appears to be a terrible library implementation though. I don't see why people are downvoting you though. You'd expect the method to either use some sort of HashTable of indices or even another SQL call, not an O(N) iteration... • How to delete duplicate records in MySQL by retaining those fields with data in the duplicate item b

  I have few thousands of records with few 100 fields in a MySQL Table. Some records are duplicates and are marked as such. Now while I can simply delete the dupes, I want to retain any other possible valuable non-null data which is not present in the original version of the record. Hope I made sense. For instance : a b c d e f key dupe -------------------- 1 d c f k l 1 x 2 g h j 1 3 i h u u 2 4 u r t 2 x From the above sample table, the desired output is : a b c d e f key dupe -------------------- 2 g c h k j 1 3 i r h u u 2 If you look at it closely, the duplicate is determined by using the key (it is the same for 2 records, so the one that has an 'x' for dupe field is the one to be deleted by retaining some of the fields from the dupe (like c, e values for key 1). • Alternative Python standard library reference

  I love Python; I absolutely despise its official documentation. Tutorials do not count as library references, but that appears to be what they're attempting. What I really want is the ability to find a class in the standard library and view documentation for all of its properties and methods. Actionscript, MSDN, and Java all do this just fine (although each with their odd quirks). Where is this for python? For example, I wanted to sort a list. mylist.sort(). Awesome. But what if I wanted it sorted in descending order? Official documentation is not - much - help. Or what if I wanted to specify a key function? That's also supported: mylist.sort(key=lamba item: item.customVar)- but documented...where? I understand that Python's approach to OOP may not be equivalent to Java et. al. Maybe list isn't actually a class - maybe it's just a function that returns an iterable when the tachyon beams are set to glorious and the unboxed hyper enumeration is quantized, but...I don't care. I just want to know how to sort lists. (Apologies for the angst - too much caffeine today)

• Architecting iPhone Views - seeking help on a specific issue + general advice

  Hi there, I am a web developer (rails, python) that is new to iPhone development. I've done some desktop development in the past within the MS environment (C#). I'm trying to build a really simple iPhone application and I am confused by the way that views work in general. If someone can provide advice for my particular problem, along with some resources where I can learn how to architect iPhone views in the future, that would be awesome. I feel like a lot of the Apple documentation that I've come across is too specific - I am lacking a fundamental understanding of how views work on the iPhone. My particular problem looks like this: I need one view that displays some downloaded text content. This is the view that shows when the app loads, and it is pretty straightforward. Then I need a settings area (I've already decided I don't want to use the iPhone settings area). The settings area main page will have some text fields on it. It will also have a 2-row grouped table. Each cell in that table will take you to another view which also has a grouped table used for multi-select. I suspect that I can reuse the same view for these two final "detailed setting" views. In summary: home page settings main page detailed setting 1 detailed setting 2 Any help and advice appreciated.

• Git checkout doesn't change anything, and it's getting very frustrating

  I really like git. At least, I like the idea of git. Being able to checkout my master project as a separate branch where I can change whatever I want without risk of screwing everything else up is awesome. But it's not working. Every time I checkout a branch to another branch, make changes to the one branch, and then checkout the original branch, I still have all the files and changes that happened in the other branch. This is getting extremely frustrating. I've read that this can happen when you have files open in the IDE while doing this, but I've been pretty careful about that and both closed the files in the IDE, closed the IDE, and shut down my rails server before switching branches, and this still happens. Also, running 'git clean -f' either deletes everything that happened after some arbitrary commit (and randomly, at that), or, as in the latest case, didn't change anything back to its original state. I thought I was using git correctly, but at this point, I'm at my wit's end here. I'm trying to work with a bunch of experimental code using a stable version of my project, but I keep having to manually track down and fix all the changes I made. Any ideas or suggestions? git checkout -b photo_tagging git branch # to make sure it's right # make a bunch of changes, creations, etc git status # see what's changed since before git add . # approve of the changes, I guess, since if I do git commit after this, it says no changes git commit -m 'these are changes I made' git checkout master git branch #=> *master # look at files, tags_controller is still there, added in photo_tagging # and code added in photo_tagging branch are still there in *master This seems to happen whether I do a commit or not on the branch.

• Referencing an Array with Objects in iPhone SDK

  Hello! I was able to deduce my issue: I'm having problem referencing a string with an object within an array. Here's the code: -(IBAction)checkWord:(id)sender { NSMutableArray *array = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [array addObject:@"BIKE"]; NSString *dudeMan = theWord; if([array containsObject:dudeMan]) { NSLog(@"Awesome!"); } "theWord" is a String object that has been concatenated from 4 letters. It spells "BIKE", and I know this from a NSLog routine further up my code. However, for some reason, even though it spells BIKE, it will not reference correctly with the object within the array. if I change the code to: NSString *dudeMan = @"BIKE"; then the code will work. If it is phrased as: NSString *dudeMan = theWord; Where 'theWord' is BIKE, then the program won't work. Any ideas? Thank you for your help!

  I'm looking for very specific text editor: Closes on ESC, no project management or tabs Syntax highlighting - preferably with color themes (e.g. can apply different color themes without changing C# coloring definition) or, at least, can load/save themes; support for C/C#/XML/HTML/JavaScript/etc - common MS/.NET world - out of box Configurable keys, or: Shift-Tab shifts blocks XML/HTML auto-completion support - well, optional I use synplus plugin for Total Commander currently, but it has few drawbacks (e.g. crashes sometimes ;-), no auto-completion, etc). Basically I want fast Visual-Studio-like editor that I open, do edits, and then close using ESC. I remember I tried Notepad++, etc - most of them open files in tabs, don't close on ESC... - that is, behave like IDE. At least I've just downloaded Notepad++, it doesn't close on ESC even if I setup keybindings to do so. Autocompletion is optional (though it is to be simple as just tags completion), what I really look for is closing on ESC, not getting in the way with all the tabs and IDE-like, and good coloring. Plus shift-tab is must have for blocks manipulation. Update: any open-source one that I can easily tweak to close on ESC? ;-) Seems like ESC (and reasonable color highlighting) is the core requirement. I've just tried many editors - Programmer's Notepad, E, Crimson, etc - I can't set any of them to close on ESC. Any external tool to close selected program on ESC? ;-) UPDATE: Hm, found an awesome utility for my latest thought: http://www.autohotkey.com. Easy to setup to close any window on ESC (as well as many other tricks). Seems like the most tough requirements is gone - I can use ANY text editor ;-)

• MySQL & PHP - Creating Multiple Parent Child Relations

  Hi, I'm trying to build a navigation system using categories table with hierarchies. Normally, the table would be defined as follows: id (int) - Primary key name (varchar) - Name of the Category parentid (int) - Parent ID of this Category referenced to same table (Self Join) But the catch is that I require that a category can be child to multiple parent categories.. Just like a Has and Belongs to Many (HABTM) relation. I know that if there are two tables, categories & items, we use a join table categories_items to list the HABTM relations. But here i'm not having two tables but only table but should somehow show HABTM relations to itself. Is this be possible using a single table? If yes, How? If not possible, what rules (table naming, fields) should I follow while creating the additional join table? I'm trying to achieve this using CakePHP, If someone can provide CakePHP solution for this problem, that would be awesome. Even if that's not possible, any solution about creating join table is appreciated. Thanks for your time.

• Why can't I use accented characters next to a word boundary?

  I'm trying to make a dynamic regex that matches a persons name. It works without problems on most names, until I ran into accented characters at the end of the name. Example: Some Fancy Namé The regex I've used so far is: /\b(Fancy Namé|Namé)\b/i Used like this: "Goal: Some Fancy Namé. Awesome.".replace(/\b(Fancy Namé|Namé)\b/i, '<a href="#">$1</a>'); This simply won't match. If I replace the é with a e, it matches just fine. If I try to match a name such as "Some Fancy Naméa", it works just fine. If I remove the word last word boundary anchor, it works just fine. Why doesn't the word boundary flag work here? Any suggestions on how I would get around this problem? I have concidered using something like this, but I'm not sure what the performance penalties would be like: "Some fancy namé. Allow me to ellaborate.".replace(/([\s.,!?])(fancy namé|namé)([\s.,!?]|$)/g, '$1<a href="#">$2</a>$3') Suggestions? Ideas?

• asp:repeater events - how to postback

  Hello I have an ASP:Repeater Which I would like to display a list of check boxes in. These check boxes are related to a list of user preferences and the users resulting answer. See Code Bellow. I would like to add do one of the following if possible Option 1: It would be great if I could use the Event in the Repeater:OnItemCommand(...) to fire if any of the items change. It would seem to me that this event will only fire if there is a Button | LinkButton | ImageButton item in the list. IE it will not fire if I put in a check box with AutopostBack="True" Option 2: Is there a way I could attach a method to an Event of CheckBox:CheckChanged I would need to pass this method a parameter saying which question/answer combo to change. Option 3: Its your answer if you know an easier way that would be awesome.   I've got the following situation: <h2>This text is <span>pretty awesome</span></h2> I'm trying to give both a different style like this (only the css): h2 { font-size: 21px; text-transform: uppercase; line-height: 37px; height: 36px; text-align: right; margin-right: 10px; } h2 span { font-size: 16px; color: #666666; text-transform: lowercase; } Now just calling this like the following things doenst work and only displays the general H2 style: sIFR.replace(headache, { selector: 'h2', css: ['.sIFR-root { stylesforh2 } '], wmode: 'transparent' }); sIFR.replace(headache, { selector: 'h2 span', css: ['.sIFR-root { stylesforspan } '], wmode: 'transparent' }); neither does this work: sIFR.replace(headache, { selector: 'h2', css: ['.sIFR-root { stylesforh2 }, span { stylesforspan} '], wmode: 'transparent' }); I'm a sIFR firsttimer and I'm problably doing something silly wrong, but I cant figure it out. • Does Firefox on OS X Lion make use of Full Page Zoom for the touchpad? How to customize behavior?

  I really like the smooth pinch-zoom of Safari using the touchpad, but the two-finger scroll on Firefox is so much better than the scrolling performance in Safari. So I really like to use Firefox, but then I miss out on two-finger-double-tap to zoom to paragraph width, and the smooth pinch gesture zoom. What I'm wondering is if it is possible to write a Firefox Extension to improve the update rate of the full-page zoom in Firefox that is already functioning via the touchpad pinch gesture. I feel like it is specifically programmed to zoom at certain zoom levels: 100%, 120%, 150% (these are guesses of mine) but I think it would be great if I can get some more control there to make it work more like the zoom functionality in Safari. Also the two-finger-double-tap on a paragraph or element to zoom to it would be really awesome as well. https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Full_page_zoom This seems to indicate (if "full page zoom" is what I think it is) that an extension has the ability to zoom to an arbitrary scale factor, but what remains is to find out if it is possible to obtain or hook the touchpad pinch gesture. Update: I have updated the toolkit.zoomManager.zoomValues option in about:config to include more zoom levels: .3,.5,.67,.8,.9,1,1.01,1.02,1.03,1.04,1.05,1.06,1.07,1.08,1.09,1.1,1.2,1.33,1.5,1.7,2,2.4,3 Notice how I inserted a bunch of entries between 1 and 1.1. But it isn't switching between them any faster (why would it?) so it's less usable than before because of waiting for it to respond fast enough. It's clear that re-rendering the page at a different zoom level requires time and in order for the zoom to be dynamic, some kind of screen capture and scale effect must be performed (which is what Safari does). I guess such a thing is probably doable but I don't think I could pull it off. :-/

• Suggestions for a PHP programmer wanting to create a timer app for an internet cafe

  Hi, I was asked by a friend to make a timer app for his small internet cafe. He wants to have timers on each client PCs. The timers indicate how much time has been spent by the customer. On the PC that he uses, there's another program that has the overview of all the timers and there's a button for each client PCs that allows him to blacken out the screen. It's not automatic hence the button. The problem is I haven't done any desktop apps before so that's why I'm asking you guys (the awesome people at SO) for suggestions/advice on what language/tool to use. A little info about me: I did Java but haven't tried Swing though. I know a bit about Python and Ruby too. I don't mind learning new languages as long as I get to finish or get a prototype up and running. He doesn't mind if I could show him a prototype, it's actually for me. It gives me satisfaction to see I'm progressing. I'm not planning on asking him to pay me for doing this. Whatever he gives me is fine. P.S. He's using Windows XP

• What are the drawbacks of using PHP to create variables in my CSS stylesheet?

  One significant drawback of CSS is that one can't use variables. For example, I'd like to use variables to control the location of imported CSS, and it would be awesome to create variables for colors that are used repeatedly in a design. One approach is to use a PHP file for the CSS stylesheet. In other words, create a "style.php" with... <?php header("Content-type: text/css"); ?> ...at the top of the file, and then link to it using... <link href="style.php" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> ...in any file that uses these styles. So what's the catch? I think it might be performance -- I did a few quick experiments in Firefox/Firebug and as one would expect, the CSS stylesheet is cached, but the PHP stylesheet isn't. So we're paying the price of an additional GET. The other annoying thing is that TextMate does not syntax highlight properly for CSS in a .php file. Are there other drawbacks? Have you used this approach, and if so, would you recommend it?
