How can I arbitrarily change the title of a Terminal window in OSX? I have seen this question and this magicwrap thing, but think it's just a simple OSX command.
I've done an install of Windows 7 Ultimate on my laptop when I meant to install Pro - i.e. I've already used the Ultimate license on another box and want the laptop to run Pro for which I've got keys spare.
Is there a way to change the SKU of the installed version to downgrade it so that I can use my Pro key. I've got a fair bit of stuff on it and would like to avoid re-installing the OS if I can.
I have Jenkins setup and it was working but then I updated java and now Jenkins acts like it doesn't know where it is.
When I goto my Jenkins server and click manage jenkins-system information under the "Environment Variables" section the PATH variable is wrong. How can I change it?
Jenkins is running as root but root's PATH is correct but Jenkins isn't pulling that correctly.
Right now Jenkins can't find hg(mercurial) or anything else.
Hi, I'm using subclipse on mac.
I did a checkout using a temp username and password yesterday.
Now that I have a new username and password, how can I change my credentials without having to delete my checkout and recheckout?
Thank you,
Tee
I'd like to setup the guest account with easy access to a particular web site, but cannot figure out how to change the default.
In 10.5.8 the parental controls can be used to control the list of bookmarks, but I haven't seen any reference to the home page. And when logged in as Guest, the home page settings are read-only, even if you enter an administrator password.
How can the Safari home page be changed (and be made persistent) for the OSX Guest account?
When I click an e-mail address in Adobe Reader X, an Outlook e-mail window opens, even though Thunderbird is my standard e-mail client and assigned to the mailto: protocol.
How can I make Adobe Reader X open e-mail links in Thunderbird?
I'm using Windows 7. How to Change the Email Client in Adobe Reader doesn't seem to apply to this version of Adobe Reader, I don't see the drop-down menu of step 6.
If I try to copy a file onto a NTFS partition in Linux, I get a warning message Could not change permissions for <file-name>. Is there any way to suppress this message ? I can live with this message while I copy the files in terminal, but when transferring from Dolphin a modal dialog box is shown and it gets pretty irritating.
I'm using openSUSE 11.2, on KDE 4.4 RC.
I have Ubuntu lucid on my home computer. Today I was experimenting with runlevels and I couldn't figure out how to change the default run level of Ubuntu. I can do that using /etc/inittab on Debian 504 but that file is not there in Ubuntu. I have searched on the web but couldn't figure out the answer.
Thanks in advance.
In the "Date and Time Properties" dialog of Windows XP (reachable by double-clicking on the time/date on the taskbar) the week in the calendar starts on Monday. I would like to change it so that it starts on Sunday. How can this be done?
Thanks in advance
I tried to change collation MySQL table to utf8_general_cs but got following error:
mysql> ALTER TABLE table_name CONVERT TO CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE 'utf8_general_cs';
ERROR 1273 (HY000): Unknown collation: 'utf8_general_cs'
I run "SHOW COLLATE" command and "utf8_general_cs" is not in the results.
What can I do now?
One of our Lotus Approach files (file extension .apr) has hardcoded paths to additional underlying database files (file extension .dbf). We've moved the Approach database and all the underlying files to a new network drive, so these paths need to be updated. You can see the old paths by opening the File menu and selecting "Approach File Properties", under the "Databases" heading.
How can you change these paths?
Is there any way to change the size of the window of the "trackpad handwriting" input method? (I'm using it to write Traditional Chinese). The gray box is rather small for me, and I'd like to make it a bit bigger for ease of seeing. Is this possible?
Thanks.
I've got an existing QEMU Virtual Server running on Fedora 11. Having troubles trying to find out how to change the location of where the Virtual Images are stored.
Can anybody provide any help please?
Thanks in advance!
I'm also new to Linux Server Administration - n00b in other words - so this might seem lazy but I need to know commands or where to look
I created a gmail account ages ago whilst living in the UK where google has trademark problem with gmail (similar to budweiser v budvar dispute)
Now I no longer live in the uk, how can I change the address from being
[email protected]
to simply
[email protected]
I've changed the 'reply address' to be gmail, and it works fine, but it's still annoying.
When inserting a text box using the developer tab in Word 2007, by default the inserted text box says "Click here to enter text".
How can I change this to something different?
Thanks.
How can I change the value of, let's say, PasswordAuthentication in /etc/ssh/sshd_config in commands?
As well, remove a # in front of the "key" I wish to value. These don't all have to be in one command. I setup quite a few servers, and remembering where everything is gets exhausting, so I want to get a series of commands I can copy paste and it does the work for me for future reference.
Sample values:
PermitRootLogin no
ChallengeResponseAuthentication no
PasswordAuthentication no
UsePAM no
UseDNS no
We are moving our websites to a new server, and in the process, have found that our current version of cPanel 11.24 doesn't have a maximum number of characters for a MySQL Database Username, like cPanel 11.25 does (it's set to 7). However, we have MySQL users whose names are longer than 7 characters.
1) Will something disastrous happen if we upgrade cPanel on our current server?
2) How can I change this setting in the new version of cPanel / WHM?
How do I change the font used by numbers, or numerics, in a Word 2007 document?
For the rest of the document, they would be using another font for the letters and such, but I would like the numbers to be in a different font altogether.
If this is possible, how do I set it?
How can I change fedora 12 hostname using gui tools (network connections) only, without editing config files?
All I can see right now if I select "Manual" in IPv4 settings is "DNS servers" or DHCP client ID, neither of which sounds like "domain/hostname" combination.
Tips?

Just like every file also directories have file id.
You can see them by typing
ls -i
How do I view file content by its id?
How do I change directory attribute to file (remove D) and vice versa!
I've installed a CMS on a shared host running Apache, now when I was deleting the root directory with FTP, some folders left with a "Permission denied" error and I can't change their attributes.
the best explanation I've got is that the CMS installer has placed the files and has assigned its ownership to the Apache server instead of my user name. (i don't know it can be done)
Ijust haven't use the uninstaller because I've lost my admin password - -"
so how to delete those folders ?
