    hi my dear friends : i have a simple network between xp & 7 windowses with cross cable (2 pc home)... ===================================================================== the one with 7 is mother and have 2 lan device (onboard + pci) A. onboard is like this when u go to tcp/ip v4 properties:(4 adsl internet) obtain an ip... preferred dns server : 81.91.129.67 alternate dns server : 4.2.2.4 shared...no permission 4 change so every thing is ok for internet on windows 7. B. the other lan pci card that is connected to pc with xp is like this : 192.168.2.11 255.255.255.0 0.0.0.0 empty empry computer name : cougar workgroup : nethome homeNetwork is disabled (i think that is 4 2 pc's with 7 os not xp) every thing is off in network options except file & printer sharing in public area ===================================================================== pc with xp os is like this : 192.168.2.12 255.255.255.0 192.168.2.11 (mean gateway) 4.2.2.4 8.8.8.8 computer name : tiger workgroup : nethome ===================================================================== at last my little net is ok... mean both have internet , both can see each other by their ip (\\192.168.2.11 or \\192.168.2.12) my problem is when in pc with xp type \\cougar it shows an error about network path! but in pc with 7 \\tiger works perfec. what is the problem in system with xp ? in few days ago this network was ok (search by computer name) when both os were xp , so there is no problem with my cable or devices. another problem is i can not find tiger in my network list in 7 pc \ why? is something wrong with my network? thanks 4 future advance best regards

  • Intel cpu hyperthreading on or off for ibm db2?

    Has anyone ever done any database performance comparisons with hyper-threading enabled vs disabled? We are running ibm db2 and I'm curious if anyone has an recommendations for enabling hyper-threading or not. With hyper-threading enabled it makes it quite difficult to do capacity planning for cpu usage. For example. "With 8 physical cores represented as 16 "threads" on the OS and a cpu-bound workload, does that mean when your cpu usage hit's 50% you are actually running at 100%." What real benefits do I gain with leaving hyper-threading enabled on an intel server running DB2? Does hyper-threading help if you're workload is truly disk IO bound? If so, up to what percentage? These are the types of questions I'm trying to answer. Any thoughts?

  • ObjectContext.SaveChanges() fails with SQL CE

    I am creating a model-first Entity Framework 4 app that uses SQL CE as its data store. All is well until I call ObjectContext.SaveChanges() to save changes to the entities in the model. At that point, SaveChanges() throws a System.Data.UpdateException, with an inner exception message that reads as follows: Server-generated keys and server-generated values are not supported by SQL Server Compact. I am completely puzzled by this message. Any idea what is going on and how to fix it? Thanks.   • USB drive errors after airport scan

    Well, I just got a new PNY usb drive and it passed through an airport scanner yesterday. For some reason, I wrote to it and then tried to read from it today, and it gave me a corrupted error! chkdsk reports errors like: Bad links in lost chain at cluster 1179 corrected. Lost chain cross-linked at cluster 1200. Orphan truncated. Lost chain cross-linked at cluster 1228. Orphan truncated. Lost chain cross-linked at cluster 1236. Orphan truncated. Lost chain cross-linked at cluster 1237. Orphan truncated. Lost chain cross-linked at cluster 1244. Orphan truncated. Lost chain cross-linked at cluster 1250. Orphan truncated. Lost chain cross-linked at cluster 1266. Orphan truncated. Lost chain cross-linked at cluster 1278. Orphan truncated. etc. What is this from? Could it possibly be from the airport scanner, or is it likely a defective USB chip? How can I check the chip to see if I should just return/throw it away or continue to use it?

    I am trying to run the for loop in a separate thread so that the UI should be responsive and the progress bar is visible. The problem is that I don't know how to do that :). In this code, the process starts in a separate thread, but the next part of the code is executed at the same time. The messageBox is displayed and the results are never returned (e.g. the listbox's selected index property is never set). It doesn't work even if I use, "taskEx.delay()".   • Why do certain replied emails missing threading when replied back in Mutt?

    I use Mutt for emails. I have threads enabled and I can see that most of the emails are threaded in Mutt. So that is all good. But sometimes I reply to an email and the answer(from other person) to my replied email wont be part of any threads. The thing is that when I reply in Mutt (which I use Vim to edit them), the subject parts keeps getting longer and longer with many "Re"s. That is the case with those emails with missing threads. I have: set strict_threads="yes" set sort="threads" set edit_headers=yes I am wondering if this has anything to do with Mutt or the person I am communicating over email. Could this one be the culprit? set metoo=yes Any suggestions?

  • Why is my code stopping and not returning an exception?

    I have some code that starts a couple of threads to let them execute, then uses a while loop to check for the current time passing a set timeout period, or for the correct number of results to have been processed (by checking an int on the class object) (with a Thread.Sleep() to wait between loops) Once the while loop is set to exit, it calls Abort() on the threads and should return data to the function that calls the method. When debugging and stepping through the code, I find there can be exceptions in the code running on the separate threads, and in some cases I handle these appropriately, and at other times I don't want to do anything specific. What I have been seeing is that my code goes into the while loop and the thread sleeps, then nothing is returned from my function, either data or an exception. Code execution just stops completely. Any ideas what could be happening?   • Can I copy a cross compiler tool chain between systems (I did before)?

    I tested fairly extensively with Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 2 Server in a VM, and was able to simply copy (read tar x) a cross compiled tool chain from an Ubuntu 8.10 VM. I created the tar myself, which is essentially a lot of stuff in \usr\local. Now that I've got a bare metal installation of Ubuntu 10.04 proper, the copy isn't working. In particularly, I'm getting the error: $ arm-linux-gcc -bash: /usr/local/bin/arm-linux-gcc: No such file or directory I've got the systems side by side in SSH windows ... any suggestions?
