  I have read some of the things posted here and I keep reading about people running stuff like /foldername/executable -cmd NAME (was reading about a programmer using Eclipse, so he was testing something he made) I don't see things like that when I run things here (Ubuntu 12.04) because of the launcher and the Ubuntu button at the very top. That and Eclipse indigo has a button for running and testing things it makes. Just asking how and why it's common? (assuming it's the Terminal[Ctrl+alt+T] but I'm not sure)

I'd like to be able to ADD an address to the server's book (the address of a new contact that freshly wrote me, for example) directly from Thunderbird, but that doesn't seem possible.   The sync that Google offers for Google Contacts < Mac OS X Address Book is seriously flawed. It doesn't sync automatically, it doesn't sync all contacts, it doesn't sync all fields. See here for a list of warnings and issues. Is there a better way to sync Google Contacts to Mac Address Book bidirectionally? Preferably free, and preferably without adding extra software. I have tried to do it through Plaxo (which has an excellent Mac Address Book sync, albeit through an extra software install), but Plaxo doesn't handle Google Sync well (no updates). UPDATE: For the new Mac OS X Snow Leopard this shouldn't be an issue. This question is looking for a Leopard answer.

Is this because the IPv6-Address is not in the prefix range? • Changing the mac address in a libvirt xml config file breaks network connectivity for the guest

  I'm using Xen with libvirt and trying to set it up on a bridged interface. I am able to install an OS and everything works as I would expect. If I save the xml output from "virsh dumpxml guest", edit the mac address for the interface, and then define the domU with this new xml file I find that traffic is no longer forwarded from the vif0.0 interface to br0. The ifcfg-eth0 file on the guest was automatically updated to reflect the new mac address and the ifconfig output looks the same. Does anyone know why this is happening or how to properly change the mac address for a libvirt configuration?

• Can my email address be revoked? [closed]

  I did some work with an organization and had a falling out, so I left them. They used postfix to have [email protected], and I had one. I set up gmail to get my mail via POP as well as to "send mail as @_.com". I think for a long time they forgot to delete my email address and now it seems that I can send but not receive mail at the address. What could a possible explanation for this be? Can they revoke delivery but not sending from the address? Why would they only revoke one if they cna revoke both? Is it more tedious or difficult a task to revoke sending? Thanks

• Can't access an internal IIS web site via IP address, only hostname

  I have a machine on my home network running Windows Server 2008 (IIS7) with a web application running under default website called HTCOMNET. The network is just on a Windows Workgroup. The server is named nas1 and has a (dynamically assigned) IPv4 address of 192.168.2.12. I can ping 192.168.2.12. When I ping the machine by name ("nas1"), the hostname resolves to an IPv6 link-local address (as opposed to the ipv4 address). In a browser, I can go to http://nas1/HTCOMNET/ and IIS serves the site, no problem. But if I go to http://192.168.2.12/HTCOMNET, no dice. I have all the windows firewalls turned off. Any idea what's going on? I can't for the life of me figure out why I can't hit IIS via the IP. I feel like it's something really obvious, but i can't figure out what. Thanks!

• Rewrite URL based off of IP on OpenWRT

  We are running OpenWRT on a WRT54GL. I have been looking for an answer to this, but I can't seem to figure out what to search for, if its possible, or what combination of programs to use. I want to be able to redirect a HTTP request from a WiFi device based off of their MAC address. This should all be transparent to the device. Basically we are trying to redirect any non-registered devices to a website to register the device (at this point, we would push a new config to the router that would allow this MAC address "full access"). Once a device is registered, it will be redirected to a transparent squid proxy server on another machine for caching/blocking certain sites. I looked at tinyproxy - popilo which redirects but I won't have the MAC address to know if its registered or not. Any help (google suggestions, programs, anything!) would be very much appreciated!

  As an avid user of todo apps (currently Asana) is very much miss a way to easily forward an email from Postbox to my GTD app. Currently the workflow is: Click cmd/L to open the forward email window Type [email protected] in the To: address field Click the send button in the forward email window What I would like to have is an automator or applescript that does that for me. Ex: Highligh/select the mail I wish to convert to a task in Asana and the type a shortcut like ctrl/cmd/L to forward the mail to Asana. As most todo apps have custom email addresses you can use to convert an email into a task, the only thing that needs to be changed is the email address in the script. For Asana this would not be necessary because the email address for converting an email into a taks is the same for all Asana users.

  Outlook 2007 talking to an Exchange 2007 server. Usual set-up of personal contacts and a site wide global address book. Distribution lists are often created by IT in the global address book but it sometimes takes days for them to appear in the local offline copy.   When a new email address is added to our company's Exchange server it doesn't show up immediately on my Outlook, and I suspect that it's because of the "cached mode". When I disable cached mode and restart outlook I see the new address fine. But when I restore cached mode and restart outlook it's missing again. So I guess the cache wasn't updated by this move. I tried deleting the .nk2 file in %appdata%\Microsoft\Outlook, but that didn't help. How can I force Outlook to clear its address book cache?

  Hi! I'm trying to configure openvpn in bridging configuration. First step of doing this requires creating bridge interface (br0), bridging together physical ethernet interface (eth0) and logical tap0 interface. This can be done with simple script but I want to use less popular approach, configuring bridge interface entirely via /etc/network/interfaces file (on Debian linux). So I have removed all eth0 definitions form /etc/network/interfaces and replaced if with following br0 definition: auto br0 iface br0 inet static pre-up openvpn --mktun --dev tap0 address 10.0.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 bridge_ports eth0 tap0 post-down openvpn --rmtun --dev tap0 This works as I expected, but there is only one problem: interface eth0 is part of bridge interface br0 AND it also receive it's own IP address from my DHCP server (located on same LAN where eth0 is connected). My questions is: how to stop eth0 interface from obtaining it's own IP address? (It should only be part of br0 bridge).

User login information for m001 are stored in linux system files (passwd, shadow). • How to restore one contact from Address Book with Time Machine

  I want to restore one contact from my Address Book with Time Machine. To do so, I select the contact in Address Book. Then, I press the Time Machine icon in the dock. Then my address book is "taken into space". However, when I browse back in time (either pressing the arrow back, or selecting a time on the right), the contact details do not change. And I am sure the data has been changed between dates. Also, when I do press restore, it's still the new data, not the backup. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? I'm using OS X 10.6.3 in combination with a external USB drive on an iMac.
