  • C check before writing to closed pipe

    Is there an easy way to check if a pipe is closed before writing to it in C? I have a child and parent process, and the parent has a pipe to write to the child. However, if the child closes the pipe and the parent tries to read - I get a broken pipe error. So how can I check to make sure I can write to the pipe, so I can handle it as an error if I can't? Now I wonder if in the 'else' branch of the if/else construct I also need to check for WIFSIGNALED. To do this I want to make each script self-tracing. My question is how do you retrieve the information for those child entities (let's say from DB) of an Aggregate where basic rule is Repository should just hold collection of Aggregate Roots (parent object) and not child objects? For example: User (parent object) Orders (child object) User domain object is stored in user table and Orders are stored in another table.   • Can a page opt out of IIS 7 compression?

    My pages are automatically being compressed by IIS7 with GZIP. That is great... but, for one particular page, I need to stream it to the user, using Response.Flush() when needed. But when the output is being compressed, the IIS server seems to collect all my output until the page is done before compressing and sending it to the client. That nullifies my attempt to Flush the content out to the user. Is there a way that I can have this one page opt out of the compression? One possible option I've determined that if I manually set the content type to one that does not match the IIS configuration at c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\config\applicationhost.config, then IIS will not compress it. Eg. Response.ContentType = "x-text/html". This works okay with IE8, as it falls back to display the HTML. But Firefox will ask the user what to do with the unknown file type. This could work, if there was another Mime Type I could use that browsers would accept as HTML, that is not matched in the applicationhost.config. For reference, these are the mime types that will be compressed: <add mimeType="text/*" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="message/*" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/x-javascript" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/atom+xml" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/xaml+xml" enabled="true" /> Others options?   • Make an element visible to the user but invisible to events

    I'm not quite sure how to describe what I'm looking to do, but I'll do my best. At the moment I have a parent <div>, with absolutely positioned child <div>s within it, and I'm tracking the mouse pointer location coordinates relative to the element your mouse is over. At the moment, when I mouse over my child <div>s, I get the mouse location relative to them, but I want the coordinates to be relative the the parent <div> even when mousing over the child elements. So I basically want the child elements to be visible, but transparent to the mousemove, so I want the mousemove to go straight through to the parent element. How would I do this? Do I maybe need to somehow make the parent <div> be in the forground but still have the child <div>s show through? or make a transparent <div> overlay just to get the mouse coordinates?   • LoaderContext and ApplicationDomain changes with Adobe AIR ?

    Hello, I'm currently experimenting with loading external SWF files from both an standard AS3 application, and an AIR application. It seems that the AIR application doesn't act the same way a standard SWF run by the Flash Player does. According to the documentation, the applicationDomain property of LoaderContext is usable in an AIR application too, but it just seems to be not working. Also, playing around with this snippet and changing the application domain to others possible configurations (like new ApplicationDomain(null), or ApplicationDomain.currentDomain) does exaclty what the documentation says with the SWF, but does not change the output of the AIR application. Any clue why AIR is simply ignoring the application domain passed to the loader context ? Any documentation about this particular issue ? Thank you very much.

  • Issue with Callback method and maintaining CultureInfo and ASP.Net HttpRuntime

    Hi All, Here is my issue. I am working on an E-commerce solution that is deployed to multiple European countries. We persist all exceptions within the application to SQL Server and I have found that there are records in the DB that have a DateTime in the future! We define the culture in the web.config, for example pt-PT, and the format expected is DD-MM-YYYY. After debugging I found the issue with these 'future' records in the DB is because of Callback methods we use. For example, in our Caching architecture we use Callbacks, as such - CacheItemRemovedCallback ReloadCallBack = new CacheItemRemovedCallback(OnRefreshRequest); When I check the current threads CultureInfo, on these Callbacks it is en-US instead of pt-PT and also the HttpContext is null. If an exception occurs on the Callback our exception manager reports it as MM-DD-YYYY and thus it is persisted to SQL Server incorrectly. Unfortunately, in the exception manager code, we use DateTime.Now, which is fine if it is not a callback. I can't change this code to be culture specific due to it being shared across other verticals. So, why don't callbacks into ASP.Net maintain context? Is there any way to maintain it on this callback thread? What are the best practices here? Thanks.

  • AS3 Camera denied if loaded in a parent SWF

    Hi, I have a child SWF file that has the Camera functionality. It works fine if I run the child SWF by itself. However, when I load the child SWF into a parent SWF, the Camera functionality does not work. Doing some tracing it says that Camera access is denied. That happens without me even clicking on the deny button and in fact the usual security popup does not even show up. I have added import flash.system.Security; flash.system.Security.allowDomain("*"); to both parent and child SWF. What am I missing? It's Flash 10 player. Thank you, Tee

  • Expandable listview with selectall checkbox : group itemclick and scrolling bug

    I have an ExpandableListView with a checkbox next to group name and when expanded, child items with checkbox as well. Let's suppose I have 4 groups with 50 childs. When a group is expanded, and I click on select all checkbox, everything works fine, all checkbox are selected and keep their state if I scroll. But if I scroll untill the last child of the list, scrolling gets buggy after that ( scrolling to the top and then touching the screen to stop the scrolling doesn't work anymore), clicking on group doesn't work anymore too, untill I click on selectall checkbox again. Clicking on a child checkbox does nothing, I must click on selectall checkbox for everything to work. I changed Focusable state of the child checkbox, group checkbox and tried many ways, but I can not find a solution to this. Do you have an idea of where it is coming from?

    I am trying to dynamically change the width and height of a Sprite object, which is a container for other similar Sprite objects. The container object automatically changes it's size according to the size of it's children, but when I change the position of the children objects, the size of the container stays the same and it's children appear to be placed outside of the container. I tried to solve this problem by using something like this: if (container.width < (child.x + child.width)) { container.width = (child.x + child.width); } but when I use this code, the container object's children are scaled. Is there a way to change the container's size without scaling it's children?
