• Add values to standard expressions list in Regular Expression Editor dialog in VS 2008

  Hi. In the "Regular Expression Editor" dialog in VS 2008 ( or 2005 for this matter ) , there is a list of "standard expressions" like : "French phone number" , "French postal code" etc.. And of course there is an option to select a "Custom" and then enter your own regular expression. Well.. I want to add a predefined expressions to that list . Like : "Israeli phone number" . I don't want to enter it every time by selecting a custom value . I want my developers in the team available items for them to choose. Anyone knows how to alter that list ? I've found some question about it on the web - and the answer given is that it's not possible . But that was at 2004. Anyone ?!?! Thanks.

  Hello, I am working on editors created with GMF and struggling with OCL right now. Is there a possibilty to prevent a node to be created if an OCL statement in the mapping evaluates to false? If tried adding an OCL statement to a node and all it does is making the node not visible in the editor, but it is created. There is also an OCL statement in the ecore file, but this way it is only evaluated when there should be something done with the created model. I does not prevent a user to construct an invalid model but this is what I intend to prevent. Thanks in advance, Morph

• Eclipse keyword highlighting in in my own text editor

  I made a simple text editor in eclipse to which I added some simple WordRule based syntax highlighting to highlight the language keywords. The problem is that when a keyword is part of an identifier (eg. "import" is part of "extra_import"), then "import" is highlighted in "extra_import". How can I stop eclipse to highlight a a keyword if it is only a sub string of another string? Anlther question; is there a regular expression based IRule? What is the purpose of WhitespaceRule? White spaces are usually not highlighted. Thaks

• Is there an editor that shows WYSIWYG comments?

  Has anyone seen an editor/IDE that shows WYSIWYG comments inside the code? I have seen some that show the docs of an element in a separated tab/windows, but not together with code. For example, a JavaDoc comment would be much clearer and easier to edit if it had no tags and could be edited like a snippet from a normal text document. /** * Writes <code>Hello world!</code> to the <b>standard output</b>. * @seealso showGoodbye */ public static void showHello() { Could be something like this: /* Writes Hello world! to the standard output. • Drag and drop an image from desktop to a web text editor (implementation in javascript)

  I tried to write reasonably short title but i failed i guess.. Hi everybody here's what i'm trying to do: I want to implement a web text editor able to recognize when the user drag a image file over it's editing surface and it automa(gically) starts the upload and insert the image near the cursor position. In other words i don't want the user to do the usual "insert-image-browse-ok". Atm i am not very good at javascript ... i know JQuery but i have not a clear idea about how to implement this... i don't know if there's an event handler able to help me in this situation... if not then there should be i think or web apps would miss some kind of interactivity. I've heard miracles about HTML5 could it help me? I've seen such things in Google Wave but that surface doesn't seem to be a form field... google lab's black magic i guess.... Thank you in advance.

  Hi! I would like to build a web application where users can create forms with very few technical knowledge. Since they need "advanced" features like validations, required fields and some more, I am currently evaluating XForms and web forms 2.0 (from HTML 5 spec). Concerning web forms, my research couldn't find any answers for the following questions: Are there any (JavaScript) libraries out there which make web forms fully available in browsers which have currently no support for them (i.e. Firefox)? Is there a "web forms editor" which allows creating input and select fields, with setting attributes like the type, required, ...? It has to be something visual, and must create "nice" html. Any help/ hints would be appreciated!

• Netbeans GUI editor problems

  Hey guys. Im making a portion of my app using the netbeans gui editor. Great so far. However ive added a new checkbox - and when i load the panel in my app the text attribute isnt shown...its just blank as if i have no caption on it... all the other ones display - so this is very annoying. It kind of seems that I have hit the limit on gui items or something, becasue any new items I add I cannot seem then, If i add new labels they dont show either :S! The other problems Im having are that the size of the window im editting appears to be fixed - every time i change it, it jumps back to the same size - how do i stop this from happening? Cheers Andy

• Visual Studio Config File Editor - Not Formatting

  Hi All, My VS 2008 seems to be acting a bit weird and the solution is eluding me. The problem is that if I open a config file; app.config or web.config, this looks and behaves as a plain text document. I have no formatting, no coloring, no intellisense and no collapsible or expandable regions. I have reset all setting and restored default file associations. If I go into the setting menu, Text Editor, XML, formatting I see an error "An error occurred loading this property page" Has any one seen this before and have you go a solution. Thanks

• How to build a windows/web application that stores data locally and sync's with remote database?

  Hello, I am needing to build an application that stores data locally and then synchronizes with a remote MS SQL database. I am not sure how to go about doing this. Enter data offline on a form and store the data. Synchronize the data with a remote MS SQL database when online. There will be many users who enter data offline, the local database on each pc needs to update when online and grab the 30 most recent records for use offline. Example: Each day users will enter data on their "form". The users will be offline. The users will return to the office and need to sync with the "online" database. The next morning the users will need to sync with the online database before going offline. They will need to have offline access to the 30 most recent records. (They will use the 30 records for charting/graphing while they are offline) I am very new to building apps. I have VS 2010. I am wondering where to start? What language to use? Is there a "framework" for doing this type of app? Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  Hello, I have worked with Ruby on Rails for the last four years. So far I have used textmate for writing the code. This is working great as long as I don't need to do any decent presentation. I was wondering if there is any WYSIWYG editor out there that can intergrate with Rails. Something like Dreamweaver with the ability to browse Objects etc. If I have opened the _show.erb I create a div and selete @user.email. etc. Any suggestions?

  I have a texteare where someone can input text. I do not want a wysiwyg editor. But what would be great: Strip all tags, but make correct <p> and <br /> if user input has new lines. Additionally convert all urls, with or without http// or parameter to clickable links. I cannot find a solution. So you could type into the textarea: ........   Hey all, I posted a similar topic for RoR, but didn't know how to edit my tags, so I'm making a new one for C#... I'm looking for a HTML editor which can be integrated in a C# app that has the possibility to create forms. Due to economies of scale, and no need to hire specialized dedicated staff. Scalability. Security. Flexibility – grow or shrink as you need to. If you are seriously considering SharePoint 2010 in the cloud, there are some things you need to know about SharePoint online. What will work - OOTB Customization, collaboration features etc. will work SharePoint Designer 2010 is supported, so no code workflows will work Visual Studio sandbox solutions, client object model will work. What won’t work - SharePoint 2010 online cloud environment supports only sandbox solutions. BCS, business connectivity services is not supported in SharePoint online. What you can do however is to host your services in Azure, and call them using Silverlight. Custom timer jobs will not work. Long story short, get used to Sandbox solutions – and the new way of programming. Sandbox solutions are pretty damn good. Most of the complaints I have heard around sandbox solutions being too restrictive, are uninformed mechanisms of doing things mired in the ways of 2002. .. or you could just live in 2002 too.   In a DrScheme project, I'm using a MrEd editor-canvas% with text% and inserting a string from a literal in a Scheme file. This results in an extra blank line in the editor for each line of text I'm trying to insert. I've tracked this down to the apparent fact that string literals from outside modules are getting extra line breaks. Here's a full example. The editor is irrelevant at this point, but it displays the result. ; test-literals.ss (module test-literals scheme (provide (all-defined-out)) (define exported-string "From another module with some more line breaks. ")) ; editor-test.ss (module editor-test scheme (require mred "test-literals.ss") (define w (instantiate frame% ("Editor Test" #f) )) (define c (instantiate editor-canvas% (w) (line-count 12) (min-width 400))) (define editor (instantiate text% ())) (send c set-editor editor) (send w show #t) (send editor erase) (send editor insert "Some text with some line breaks. I've traced in and figured out that it's changing Unix line breaks to Windows line breaks when strings are imported from another module, but these display as double line breaks. Why is this happening and is there a way to stop it other than changing every imported string?

• Testing harness for online teaching?

  I have been asked to teach an online programming course, and I am looking for a test harness especially geared to education. Some students will have significant coding experience, but others will be total newbies. The course is an introduction to software development, mostly taught in C with some C++ and Java thrown in. In any case, I would like to read their source code only after a test suite has made sure that it compiles and executes properly. The students will also benefit from having a tool they can check their code against before submitting it. However, the Learning Management System my employer is using doesn't have such a system. Do you know of any LMS software that includes this feature? Which testing harness would you recommend in case I have to roll my own?

• ClickOnce Deployment online questions

  Hi all, Bit of a strange question, but how do ClickOnce deployments work from a web site? I seem to be having some problems with this. Basically, the setup file will download when you click the "install" button, but then some files are missing. Do you need to be on a Microsoft server to run ClickOnce deployments? I usually do deployments over a local server with UNC, and as this is the first time I've done one online I'm struggling a bit. Any newbie tutorials you can point me to would be great, and if I do need a special host for it, could you please recommend some? Cheers!
