• Fast way to set text format for a range of Text using TLF

  Hi, i have to set the text format for some tokens in a plain text. I'm trying to use the Text Layout Framework to improve the speed of the operation but i've founded that TLF is far slower (10X in my tests) than the old setTextFormat(). For each token i call this function: public function setTextFormat(format:TextLayoutFormat, begin:int, end:int):void{ var selection:SelectionState = new SelectionState(this._textFlow, begin, end, this._normalFormat); IEditManager(_textFlow.interactionManager).applyLeafFormat(format, selection); } is there any faster and clever way to do this operation ? • Is using GET with a tokenID for security a good idea?

  I was thinking about this and it appears POST only a little less vulnerable and somewhat harder (do to requiring the user to click something). Now it seems like i put the session id as a token in each of my forms and check them bc attackers cant guess these tokens. However i dislike the idea of putting the session id into the page for ppl to see. But really, is there a problem with that? short of having the user copy/pasting the html is there any attacks that can happen due to the session id being in plain view in html?

• Accessing HTML 5 Video Progress Event with jQuery

  Hello All, The below is for an HTML5 video player event. My partner and I have been stumped for a very large portion of the day on this issue and hope someone can lend some insight on the issue. We have been able to access the progress event with plain js as seen below but when trying to access this with jQuery we get undefined in console. • Convert any currency string to double

  I need to store multiple currencies in SQL server. I understand that SQL won't support all different types of currencies (unless I store it as a string, but I don't want to do that). My idea was to convert all the values from their currency format to a standard double and store that instead. Then just re-format based on the culture info when displaying. However, I have tried doing something like e.g. var cultureInfo = new System.Globalization.CultureInfo("en-US"); double plain = return Double.Parse("$20,000.00", cultureInfo); This doesn't ever seem to work it always throws a FormatException. Even removing the currency symbol and just trying to do this based on the number alone does the same thing. This is just an example I want to support pretty much any type of currency. Is there a standard way of stripping out currency and getting the value as a double?

  Hey folks, I'm currently developing a site in Joomla, and one of the components I'm using makes use of a PHP file to administer the language. (english.php, spanish.php) The problem I'm having is that if I use the plain text version of eg. "á", it will show up in the browser tab title ok, but as a ? in the body of the page. What i want is follow some design pattern or architecture that will be help me in decoupling my code. I have idea about MVC and MVP architectures for Web App but i need different from that. I want to use OOPS concepts using abstract classes and interfaces, polymorphism etc in my app but not MVC and MVP. I dont know why? • GCC exports decorated function name only from dll

  Hi Guys, I have a dll, it exports a function... extern "C" int __stdcall MP_GetFactory( gmpi::IMpUnknown** returnInterface ) { } I compile this with Code::Blocks GCC compiler (V3.4.5). Problem: resulting dll exports decorated function name... MP_GetFactory@4 This fails to load, should be plain old... MP_GetFactory I've researched this for about 4 hours. I think --add-stdcall-alias is the option to fix this. My Code::Blocks log shows... mingw32-g++.exe -shared -Wl,--out-implib=bin\Debug\libGainGCC.a -Wl,--dll obj\Debug\se_sdk3\mp_sdk_audio.o obj\Debug\se_sdk3\mp_sdk_common.o obj\Debug\Gain\Gain.o obj\Debug\Gain\gain.res -o bin\Debug\GainGCC.sem --add-stdcall-alias -luser32 ..so I think that's the correct option in there? But no luck. Dependancy Walker show only the decorated name being exported. I got It to kinda work by using __cdecl instead of __stdcall, the name is then exported ok, but the function corrupts the stack when called (because the caller expected the other calling convention).

• Updating Excel Cell with Non-Numeric Data in C#

  I have a query that is ExcelQuery = "Update [Sheet1$] set CITIZEN_ID = #" + value + " where CITIZEN_ID = " + value; As you can see, I'm essentially just appending a "#" onto the CITIZEN_ID field. value is a int/numeric value. So if I had "256" in the CITIZEN_ID column it would be converted to "#256" When I execute this I get an OleDbException Syntax error in date in query expression so I surrounded part of the query in single quotes like this, ExcelQuery = "Update [Sheet1$] set CITIZEN_ID = '#" + value + "' where CITIZEN_ID = " + value; With that I get yet another OleDbException this time with, Data type mismatch in criteria expression. I'm guessing for some reason the CITIZEN_ID fields don't want to take anything besides a plain number. Is there any way I can remedy this to get that pound symbol in? Thanks!

Since I am not from the US and getting a user's correct ZIP code is important, I have no idea which format I should use. • Which containers / graphics components to use in a simple Java Swing game?

  I'm creating a simple labyrinth game with Java + Swing. The game draws a randomized labyrinth on the screen, places a figure in the middle, and the player is then supposed to find the way out by moving the figure with arrow-keys. As for now, I'm using a plain background and drawing the walls of the labyrinth with Graphics.drawLine(). I have a custom picture of the figure in a .gif file, which I load as a BufferedImage object. However, I want the player to see only part of the labyrinth at a time, and the screen should follow the figure in the game, as the player moves around. I'm planning to do this by creating an Image object of the whole labyrinth when it is created, and then "cutting" a square around the current position of the figure and displaying this with Graphics.drawImage(). I'm new with Swing though, and I can't figure out how to draw the figure at different positions "above" the labyrinth without redrawing the whole thing. Which container/component should I use for the labyrinth and then for the figure to achieve this?

  i have a dll, built with mingw one of the header files contains this: extern "C" { int get_mac_address(char * mac); //the function returns a mac address in the char * mac } I use this dll in another c++ app, built using Visual C++ (2008SP1), not managed, but plain c++ (simply include the header, and call the function) But now I have to use it in a C# application The problem is that i can't figure out how exactly (i'm new in .net programming) this is what i've tried public class Hwdinfo { [DllImport("mydll.dll")] public static extern void get_mac_address(string s); } When i call the function, nothing happens (the mydll.dll file is located in the bin folder of the c# app, and it gives me no errors or warnings whatsoever)

• JPanel: both implementing my own paintComponent() and rendering children doesn't work

  I'm extending a JPanel to display a game board, and adding a JEditorPane at the bottom to hold some status text. Unfortunately, the game board renders just fine, but the JEditorPane is just a blank gray area until I highlight the text in it, when it will render whatever text is highlighted (but not the rest). If I'm understanding Swing right, it should work, because super.paintComponent(g) should render the other children (i.e., the JEditorPane). Case 1: $ ./process1 process1 (not ptraced) set up handler alarm(5); .... signal is handled and I can parse handler parameters Case 2: $ debugger1 ./process1 process1 (is ptraced by debugger1) set up handler alarm(5); ... signal is catched by debugger1. It resumes process1 with PTRACE_CONT, signal_number is 4th parameter of PTRACE_CONT. signal is redelivered to process1 it is handled. So, how can I detect in signal handler, was it redelivered by debugger or send by system? OS is Linux, kernel is 2.6.30. Programs are written in plain C.

  I understand the definition of a Linked List, but how can it be represented and related to a common concept or item? For example, inheritance in OOP can be related to automobiles. All (most) automobiles in real life are the essentially same thing; an automobile has an Engine, you can start() it, you can make the car go(), stop() and so on. An automobile would typically have a maximum passenger capacity but it would differ between a Bus and a SportsCar, which are both automobiles. Is there some real life, intuitive example of the plain ole' singly Linked List like we have with inheritance? The typical textbook Linked List example shows a node with an integer and a pointer to the next, and it just doesn't seem very useful. Your input is appreciated.

  I have the following functions for colorizing my screen messages: def error(string): return '\033[31;1m' + string + '\033[0m' def standout(string): return '\033[34;1m' + string + '\033[0m' I use them as follows: print error('There was a problem with the program') print "This is normal " + standout("and this stands out") I want to log the output to a file (in addition to STDOUT) WITHOUT the ANSI color codes, hopefully without having to add a second "logging" line to each print statement. The reason is that if you simply python program.py > out then the file out will have the ANSI color codes, which look terrible if you open in a plain text editor. Any advice?

  I have a form that works as follows.. Server request builds XML of the data on server side and sends xml, XSL stylesheet then transforms the XML data into the plain html page distributing the data to the relevant/desired locations of the form on the page. Person can view page and edit the populated form, submit back to DB. I think JSON is more suitable for this from what I have read. The form itself is split into 3 areas, for me this is 3 maps/associative arrays etc each with a name related to the id of an input element etc. The problem for me comes with having the JSON sent to the page, what should I do with it next in order to achieve the same result as I currently get with XML and XSL. I've googled the best I could, nothing came up better to consume a webservice from a Java client through a web proxy, if someone has another idea, feel free to respond

• Can I encrypt value in C# and use that with SQL Server 2005 symmetric encryption?

  To be more specific, if I create a symmetric key with a specific KEY_SOURCE and ALGORITHM (as described here), is there any way that I can set up the same key and algorithm in C# so that I can encrypt data in code, but have that data decrypted by the symmetric key in Sql Server? From the research I've done so far, it seems that the IDENTITY_VALUE for the key is also baked into the cypher text, making things even more complex. I'm thinking about just trying all the various ways I can think of, ie hashing the KEY_SOURCE using different hash algorithms for a key and trying different ways of encrypting the plain text until I get something that works. Or is that just futile? Has anyone else done this, any pointers? UPDATE Just to clarify, I want to use NHibernate on the client side, but theres a bunch of stored procedures on the database side that still perform decryption.

  Anyone have a recommendation for an editor like the WMD editor, but using MediaWiki markup instead of Markdown? Our site is already using MediaWiki markup but we want a slicker editor without changing markup completely. Requirements include: live preview of formatted text underneath the markup you're typing a toolbar for common formatting (bold, italic, links, bullets, numbered-list, code, etc) keyboard shortcuts for each toolbar button (e.g. CTRL+B for bold) Undo/redo via keyboard shortcuts (CTRL+Z/CTRL+Y) or toolbar buttons works well in the usual set of popular browsers (including IE6!) open-source would be preferred I've found a few options at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/WYSIWYG_editor, but all of these seem to be WYSIWYG editors which is not exactly what I want since full-on WYSIWYG editors tend to be bug-prone and complicate working at the markup level. Instead we want a plain-text markup editor with a client-side previewer, plus some UI niceties (toolbar, undo, keyboard shortcuts) to make editing markup easier.

Application is client-server. client is proprietary and must use exactly same procotol as it was with udp server. But server can be a bit faster with raw sockets.   Hello, I am using Tomcat 5.5.9 and Apache 2.x We are trying to use a path name in ProxyPass that is different than the Tomcat context name. ProxyPass /path http://localhost:8080/contextname However, this does not work. When these two are the same then everything works fine. Most examples I see on the net also have the path equal to the Tomcat context name. I am using "context.xml" within the Tomcat context and do NOT have "server.xml" entries.   I've been thinking about using Markov techniques to restore missing information to natural language text. Restore mixed case to text in all caps Restore accents / diacritics to languages which should have them but have been converted to plain ASCII Convert rough phonetic transcriptions back into native alphabets That seems to be in order of least difficult to most difficult. Basically the problem is resolving ambiguities based on context. I can use Wiktionary as a dictionary and Wikipedia as a corpus using n-grams and Markov chains to resolve the ambiguities. Am I on the right track? Are there already some services, libraries, or tools for this sort of thing? • What is the equivalent to IScriptControl for Web.UI.Page?

  We've been using IScriptControl to tie javascript objects to our UserControls and ServerControls, and it's worked fine. The problem is that ASP.NET seems to provide no method to tie a javascript object to a Page. Up to now, we've been putting plain functions in the global namespace, but I am developing a serious allergy to that practice. It'd be easy enough to wrap our functions into a javascript class, and to include the javascript file on the page, but how to instantiate the object, how to reference it from callback events, and how to pass data to it from the code-behind, I haven't figured out. Or rather, the methods we've been using up to now (hidden fields, emitted javascript strings, etc.), really bug me. Anyone have better ideas?
