• If C-Panel Indexing Manager sets a folder to "No Indexing" can it be crawled by a webcrawler?

  People are able to view directories / folders on my site right now. So, they could go to mysite.com/images and see the full index. To prevent this, C-Panel offers an option to set a directory / folder to "No Indexing" under the "Index Manager." Will this option allow webcrawlers to crawl / index the images? Or, is there a simpler alternative to block access to all folders directly while still having it SEO friendly? My old server restricted direct access to folders by default. But, the new one does not. Any ideas on this? Thanks!

  I am a Software Developer mostly on Windows System. I have been tasked to create an App Program for an RF Barcode Scanner. Which I don't have any experience in this kind of software. I am open to learn new Programming Languages to develop the software for this barcode scanner. From which I see on our meeting. It uses Windows or Windows Mobile as OS. Can someone direct me to a tut site or just tell me what language I should use? Requirements is mostly, Log In, UI Entry of Details + Barcode, Process Button. Connection To SQL Server via Wifi Access Point to call the procedure afterwards. I am not developing a Barcode scanner, I am developing a UI Software like a Mobile App. I tried to google but I dont know what exact keywords I should search for. My question is, what PL is mostly used to develop this kind of softwares.

• Actinic and Google Analytics: does it mess with my stats?

  My fathers website is built using Actinic - not by me but by a local company - and since he went with them some years ago his traffic never went down, but has stayed more or less consistent which is fine. My question is this; does using actinic somehow confuse analytics? As it shows that 99% of all visitors come "direct", as in, not by organic search. Previous to using Actinic he would get 70 to 85% of new hits exclusively from organic search terms. So I'm wondering if Actinic somehow messes with these new hits and redirects them to a "home" page.. Not sure exactly what I mean but this change in stats is concerning and I'm struggling to find an explanation.

  Unfortunately i read an article on how to avoid destroying your websites SEO from a redesign article AFTER its was too late! Here is the article (http://www.searchenginejournal.com/how-to-avoid-seo-disaster-during-a-website-redesign/42824/) On 20 November 12 completely redesigned our www.retromodern.com.au . We get ALL our customers from our website as we do not have a shop. Since that dreaded day a month ago the phone pretty much stopped, basically no emails, Google rankings down and Google analytics have halved by 50%. Yesterday i did some research into as as i had no idea that a re-design of a website could have such a damaging effect - yes i am a novice and use a WYSIWYG type web builder. There are lots of info on how to AVOID this from happening BUT what do i do as i have already made the mistake? Yesterday i reloaded my OLD site with my new pages in the background hoping this would be a start. I really have no idea of how to get out of this mess. Please please help. Thanks in Advance.   Since a few years ago I stopped listening to CDs and began to listen to mp3 only. At the begining I continued to buy the CDs to support the artist, but later I started to buy the album direct online as mp3. The problem is, that by this, I don't have the lyrics for the songs. For the "commercial" or popular music it is not a big problem, but for others there are no lyrics on the Internet. How can I make use of the ID3-tag for the lyrics? Is there a music store that adds lyrics to the mp3 files sold? Can this be done with Ubuntu One? Another alternative would be to have an Internet lyrics databases like musixmatch.com supported.

• Cloud proxying service

  I have an app that mashes up images from Bing image search, it's hosted on Heroku written in rails. The app is client side in javascript, so the mashup is done on an html5 canvas - this means though that if I fetch the images direct from the Bing server, the canvas gets dirty and I can't save it. As a quick work around, i have set up a route on my rails app that simply proxies the request to Bing and passes the result back through. Obviously this is a very poor performance solution and will eat up my dynos very quickly. Can anyone suggest a more suitable option? At the moment I'm thinking maybe Amazon EC2 with apache mod_rewrite rules would be better performing and more cost effective. Is there a cloud service (or an app I could deploy to a cloud service) that would be more appropriate for proxying requests for me so that my javascript can fetch the images without dirtying the canvas?

• Upgrade to 11.10 left me with Kmail not working

  On my way from 10.10 to 12.04 I chose to do the step by step (11.04 then 11.10 then 12.04) because I could not figure if I should do that or a direct install of 12.04LTS. After the first step (11.04) all was well. The next day I upgraded to 11.10. Now I seem to have lost my data in KOrganizer and all of my email history in KMail. KMail still has my email accounts but my tree structure of folders is missing as is all of the emails that should be there. Also, when KMail opens I get the following: KMail encountered a fatal error and will terminate now. The error was: Failed to fetch the resource collection. Clicking OK closes KMail. KAlarm appears OK and my browser history is still in place as are various data files. What to do??

  Some may claim that this has already been asked, but I don't see MY problem in any of those posts. And if they actually have the same problem as mine, I may not understand what they've been trying to point out, actually. I hope you understand as to why I require a direct answer to the problem I'm having. I installed Ubuntu 14.04 along my Windows using a USB stick. It is possible to access my Windows (8.1) files from the folder page. I took off the Windows sticker, so I cannot get a Windows CD or anything from the support guys. I would delete my Windows partition then, but it's also tangled in this geeky mystery. • How to fix legacy code that uses <string.h> unsafely?

  We've got a bunch of legacy code, written in straight C (some of which is K&R!), which for many, many years has been compiled using Visual C 6.0 (circa 1998) on an XP machine. We realize this is unsustainable, and we're trying to move it to a modern compiler. Political issues have said that the most recent compiler allowed is VC++ 2005. When compiling the project, there are many warnings about the unsafe string manipulation functions used (sprintf(), strcpy(), etc). Reviewing some of these places shows that the code is indeed unsafe; it does not check for buffer overflows. The compiler warning recommends that we move to using sprintf_s(), strcpy_s(), etc. However, these are Microsoft-created (and proprietary) functions and aren't available on (say) gcc (although we're primarily a Windows shop we do have some clients on various flavors of *NIX) How ought we to proceed? I don't want to roll our own string libraries. I only want to go over the code once. I'd rather not switch to C++ if we can help it.

I want to implement the operation B = A * f; where A and B are XMMATRIX and f is a float. I found all sorts of functions to multiply a matrix by another matrix or a vector. I found all sorts of functions to construct matrices. I could find no scalar multiplication! Why is there no such function? Is there no use case? Did I miss something? How do I implement scalar multiplication?

  My company is a broker in the real estate industry. As such, we send a lot of our listings to sites like Trulia.com and Zillow.com, among others. These sites direct leads to our realtors, and provide us with reports every month detailing the activity our listings have had on their site-- links back to our website, emails generated, etc. Our Marketing and Advertising departments want to take that information and enter it into a system to keep track of everything in one place, for the purpose of producing comparison reports. I cannot find any externally available product that provides this functionality. I would sincerely like to avoid writing this tool myself. Does anyone know of a tool that could do this? In short, an ideal system would: Imports Google Analytics data via API Imports real estate listing site data via CSV import / manual entry Provides comparison reports based on data Does anyone know of anything pre-made that can do this?

The idea is as follows: An employee wants to make a purchase, so they will go to the appropriate page in the intraNet They will fill out the form on the intraNet page They click the email button The data in the form is saved in a database, and an email is sent to me stating that there is purchase order request form filled out I am not exactly sure how to go about this.
