    Lets say I am dividing 2592 / 324 = 8 Practically I must guess that 324 goes 8 times in 2592 without reminder. For example, first I try with 7 ( 7*324 = 2268, reminder 324, so 7 is wrong, so I try with 8 and 8 is correct) Is there anyway to do dividing without guessing( trying ), like multiplication ( all mechanically, digit by digit )?

  • Fast way to pass a simple java object from one thread to another

    I have a callback which receives an object. I make a copy of this object, and I must pass it on to another thread for further processing. It's very important for the callback to return as fast as possible. Ideally, the callback will write the copy to some sort of lock-free container. I only have the callback called from a single thread and one processing thread. I only need to pass a bunch of doubles to the other thread, and I know the maximum number of doubles (around 40). Any ideas? I'm not very familiar with Java, so I don't know the usual ways to pass stuff between threads.

  • Reconstructing simple 3d enviroment(room) from photo

    I have photo of a room with three walls and floor/ceiling or both. I am trying to reconstruct this room in 3d asking user for minimal input. Right now I use 8 points defined by user, angles of left and right wall(they can be quite different from 90) and one size "InLeftBottom-InRightBottom"(I need to have real size of this room for later use). I have no info about user's camera(I can read EXIF to get FOV and use constant height but this can be only used as additional info). Is this possible to ask user for less info? Maybe it's possible to get wall angles without user interaction? Or maybe I am completly wrong and should use different approach?

  • Simple rails routing / url question

    I'm using Ryan Bates' nifty authentication in my application for user signup and login. Each user has_many :widgets, but I'd like to allow users to browse other users' widgets. I'm thinking that a url scheme like /username/widgets/widget_id would make a lot of sense--it would keep all widget-related code in the same place (the widgets controller). However, I'm not sure how to use this style of URL in my app. Right now my codebase is such that it permits logged-in users to browse only their own widgets, which live at /widgets/widget_id. What changes would I need to make to routes.rb, my models classes, and any place where links to a given widget are needed? I've done Rails work before but am a newb when it comes to more complicated routing, etc, so I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks for your consideration!

Release should be called since alloc was called, right? If #1 is right, then I would need to store a reference to each of these in an instance variable in order to release them in the dealloc? Perhaps I'm wrong all around...

  • Yet Another Simple Retain Count Question

    [I'm sure this is not odd at all, but I need just a bit of help] I have two retain properties @property (nonatomic, retain) NSArray *listContent; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSArray *filteredListContent; and in the viewDidLoad method I set the second equal to the first self.filteredListContent = self.listContent; and then on every search I do this self.filteredListContent = [listContent filteredArrayUsingPredicate:predicate]; I thought I should do a release right above this assignment -- since the property should cause an extra retain, right? -- but that causes the program to explode the second time I run the search method. The retain counts (without the extra release) are 2 the first time I come into the search method, and 1 each subsequent time (which is what I expected). Some guidance would help, thanks! Is it correct to not release?

    Hello. My task was to create pseudodatabase in c++. There are 3 tables given, that store name(char*), age(int), and sex (bool). Write a program allowing to : - add new data to the tables - show all records - sort tables with criteria : - name increasing/decreasing - age increasing/decreasing - sex Using function templates is a must. Also size of arrays must be variable, depending on the amount of records. I have some code but there are still problems there. Here's what I have: Function tabSize() for returning size of array.     Hello guys, I would like to develop a system, where user will get the data dynamically(what I mean dynamic is, without reloading pages, using AJAX.. but well, it does not matter much). My situation is like this. I have this table, I called it "player", in this player table, I will store the player information like, player name, level, experience etc. Each player can have different clothes, start from tops(shirts), bottoms, shoes, and hairstyle, and each player can have more than 1 tops, bottoms, shoes etc. What I am hesitated or not very sure about is, how do you normally store the data? My current design is like this: Player Table =========================================================================================== id | name | (others player's info) | wearing | tops | bottoms =========================================================================================== 1 | player1 | | top=1;bottom=2;shoes=5;hair=8 | 1,2,3| 7,2,3 Tops Table ===================== id | name | etc... ===================== 1 | t-shirt | ... I am not sure if this design is good. If you are the database designer, how would you design the database? Or how you will store them? Please advise. Thanks

    This question is more to figure out how to look up classes and objects in objective-c but i lack the knowledge to figure out how to look this up so i pose the question here. In .Net if i had a MyObject.MyValue the MyValue would be called a property, and I could look this up in MSDN. In java i would check the javadocs online (and that property would have to be a value). With objective-c that is called a ? and if i wanted to look it up i would look where? Example: //Object.??? UIImage.backgroundColor = [UIColor blueColor];

  • Simple jQuery syntax help, don't know where I've gone wrong

    I'm having trouble with a jQuery code at the moment, I know WHERE the problem lies, but I don't know what the problem is exactly. Probably very basic, but I'm new to this. I don't have 4 or 5 hours to delve into that, or into this disheveled FAQ (https://dev.twitter.com/docs/faq#17750). Then I found this API documentation regarding the user timeline. Using jQuery or C# ASP.NET MVC, how can I transition that interface from Twitter API 1.0 to Twitter API 1.1? My first preference would be for a browser client side implementation if that is possible.
