  If I'm building a library in ruby, what's the best way to allow users of the library to set module-wide settings that will be available to all sub classes etc of the library? A good example would be if I'm writing a library for posting to a webservice: TheService::File.upload("myfile.txt") # Uploads anonymously TheService::Settings.login("myuser","mypass") # Or any other similar way of doing this TheService::File.upload("myfile.txt") # Uploads as 'myuser' The idea would be that unless TheService::Settings.logout is called then all TheService operations would be conducted under myuser's account. Any ideas?

  Is there a simple way of dynamically scaling an image in php? Id like to specifically use some kind of function where i can insert it into my heml such as <img src=image.php?img=boss.jpg&width=500> and of course it would then scale the image to whatever height constrains it to 500px wide i appreciate all input, thanks.   I wonder if there is a supported way to access the SharePoint 2010 SQL Server through an API? I'm not talking about modifying any SharePoint Database directly (I know that that is still unsupported), but I'd like to store some data that my application needs, and instead of asking the user to enter a Connection String, I'd prefer to create my own database on the SQL Server that SharePoint uses. I think I could use the new Service Application stuff, but that seems a bit overkill?
