  • Problem with jQuery selector and MasterPage

    - by Daemon
Hi, I have a problem with a master page containing a asp:textbox that I'm trying to access using jQuery. I have read lot sof thread regarding this and tried all the different approaches I have seen, but regardless, the end result end up as Undefined. This is the relevant part of the MasterPage code: <p><asp:Label ID="Label1" AssociatedControlID="osxinputfrom" runat="server">Navn</asp:Label><asp:TextBox CssClass="osxinputform" ID="osxinputfrom" runat="server"></asp:TextBox></p> When I click the button, the following code from a jQuery .js file is run: show: function(d) { $('#osx-modal-content .osxsubmitbutton').click(function (e) { e.preventDefault(); if (OSX.validate()){ $('#osx-modal-data').fadeOut(200); d.container.animate( {height:80}, 500, function () { $('#osx-modal-data').html("<h2>Sender...</h2>").fadeIn(250, function () { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "Default.aspx/GetDate", data: "{'from':'" + $("#osxinputfrom").val() + "','mailaddress':'" + $("#osxinputmail").val() + "','header':'Test3','message':'Test4'}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(msg) { $('#osx-modal-data').fadeOut(200, function () { $('#osx-modal-data').html('<h2>Meldingen er sendt!</h2>'); $('#osx-modal-data').fadeIn(200); }); }, error: function(msg){ $('#osx-modal-data').fadeOut(200, function () { $('#osx-modal-data').html('<h2>Feil oppstod ved sending av melding!</h2>'); $('#osx-modal-data').fadeIn(200); }); } }); }); } ); } else{ $('#osxinputstatus').fadeOut(250, function () { $('#osxinputstatus').html('<p id="osxinputstatus">' + OSX.message + '</a>'); $('#osxinputstatus').fadeIn(250); }); } }); }, So the problem here is that $("#osxinputfrom").val() evaluated to Undefined. I understand that the masterpage will add some prefix to the ID, so I tried using the ID from the page when it's run that ends up as ct100_osxinputfrom, and I also tried some other hinds that I found while searching like $("#<%=osxinputfrom.ClientID%"), but it ends up as Undefined in the method that is called from the jQuery ajax method anyway. The third and fourth parameters to the ajay function that is hardcoded as Test3 and Test4 comes fine in the C# backend method. So my question is simply: How can I rewrite the jQuery selector to fetch the correct value from the textbox? (before I used master pages it worked fine by the way) Best regards Daemon

    - by DaveDev
Hi all, I have the following code: public ActionResult SomeAction() { return new JsonpResult { Data = new { Widget = "some partial html for the widget" } }; } I'd like to modify it so that I could have public ActionResult SomeAction() { // will render HTML that I can pass to the JSONP result to return. var partial = RenderPartial(viewModel); return new JsonpResult { Data = new { Widget = partial } }; } is this possible? Could somebody explain how?

  • Composite operations in Android Canvas

    - by kayahr
I'm just starting with Android development and I'm coming from JavaScript/HTML world so I'm currently investigating the possibilities of the Android SDK. The HTML 5 canvas supports composite operations (See here). Is this possible in an Android Canvas? I scanned the API of the Canvas class but couldn't find anything useful. I need at least the composite operation "source-in" or (if this isn't possible) "source-atop".

    - by John Smith
Hello I am having trouble compiling a static library for the iPhone. It worked in the past. It keeps saying "target specifies 'com.apple.product-type.tool' but there is no such product for the 'iphoneos' platform. I have rechecked the static compilation flag.

    - by WaZ
How can I basically carry out a unique constraint on a string data-type field. class User{ String username String Email static hasMany = [roles:Roles] static constraints = { Email(email:true) username(unique:true) } Is there any simple way to implement username(unique:true) or I will have to manually check the database by the in-built methods like .findByNameLike. My need is that username should be unique and should be case insensitive

    - by Red Serpent
Hi I have a local html file which I'm trying to view using QTWebKit, there are some images in the file which are of type ".ico" which seems that QTWebKit is not able to render them as it gives a question mark icon instead. I tried opening the html file in firefox and its working fine and all images gets rendered. My question is, does QTWebKit support ico images, and if it does... what should I do to enable webkit to render ico images? Regards

  • question about Doug Lea's malloc

    - by hatorade
http://gee.cs.oswego.edu/dl/html/malloc.html in making his array for the segmented bins, he makes bins for 8 - 512 using multiples of 8 (so 63 bins, but only the last 62 are ever used). how does he determine the size for the remaining 63 bins? He mentions they are logarithmically spaced, but is there some sort of equation he used to do that optimally?

  • Fetch excerpt from Wikipedia article?

    - by Felix
I've been up and down the Wikipedia API, but I can't figure out if there's a nice way to fetch the excerpt of an article (usually the first paragraph). It would be nice to get the HTML formatting of that paragraph, too. The only way I currently see of getting something that resembles a snippet is by performing a fulltext search (example), but that's not really what I want (too short). Is there any other way to fetch the first paragraph of a Wikipedia article than barbarically parsing HTML/WikiText?

In Java, to create and show a new JFrame, I simply do this: public static void main(String[] args) { new JFrame().setVisible(true); } However, I saw many people doing it like this: public static void main(String[] args) { EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { new JFrame().setVisible(true); } }); } Why? Are there any advantages?

I’m currently using the HTML control, suggested by many sites, but I have a large form, with many tabs. Since I have to load up to 8 HTML controls, loading the form takes too long. Any help?

  • Prototype JS swallows errors in dom:loaded, and ajax callbacks?

    - by WishCow
I can't figure out why prototype suppressess the error messages in the dom:loaded event, and in AJAX handlers. Given the following piece of HTML: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Conforming XHTML 1.1 Template</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="prototype.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> document.observe('dom:loaded', function() { console.log('domready'); console.log(idontexist); }); </script> </head> <body> </body> </html> The domready event fires, I see the log in the console, but there is no indication of any errors whatsoever. If you move the console.log(idontexist); line out of the handler, you get the idontexist is not defined error in the console. I find it a little weird, that in other event handlers, like 'click', you get the error message, it seems that it's only the dom:loaded that has this problem. The same goes for AJAX handlers: new Ajax.Request('/', { method: 'get', onComplete: function(r) { console.log('xhr complete'); alert(youwontseeme); } }); You won't see any errors. This is with prototype.js 1.6.1, and I can't find any indication of this behavior in the docs, nor a way to enable error reporting in these handlers. I have tried stepping through the code with FireBug's debugger, and it seems to jump to a function on line 53 named K, when it encounters the missing variable in the dom:loaded handler: K: function(x) { return x } But how? Why? When? I can't see any try/catch block there, how does the program flow end up there? I know that I can make the errors visible by packing my dom:ready handler(s) in try/catch blocks, but that's not a very comfortable option. Same goes for registering a global onException handler for the AJAX calls. Why does it even suppress the errors? Did someone encounter this before?

  • Matlab N-Queen Problem

    - by Kay
    main.m counter = 1; n = 8; board = zeros(1,n); back(0, board); disp(counter); sol.m function value = sol(board) for ( i = 1:(length(board))) for ( j = (i+1): (length(board)-1)) if (board(i) == board(j)) value = 0; return; end if ((board(i) - board(j)) == (i-j)) value = 0; return; end if ((board(i) - board(j)) == (j-i)) value = 0; return; end end end value = 1; return; back.m function back(depth, board) disp(board); if ( (depth == length(board)) && (sol2(board) == 1)) counter = counter + 1; end if ( depth < length(board)) for ( i = 0:length(board)) board(1,depth+1) = i; depth = depth + 1; solv2(depth, board); end end I'm attempting to find the maximum number of ways n-queen can be placed on an n-by-n board such that those queens aren't attacking eachother. I cannot figure out the problem with the above matlab code, i doubt it's a problem with my logic since i've tested out this logic in java and it seems to work perfectly well there. The code compiles but the issue is that the results it produces are erroneous. Java Code which works: public static int counter=0; public static boolean isSolution(final int[] board){ for (int i = 0; i < board.length; i++) { for (int j = i + 1; j < board.length; j++) { if (board[i] == board[j]) return false; if (board[i]-board[j] == i-j) return false; if (board[i]-board[j] == j-i) return false; } } return true; } public static void solve(int depth, int[] board){ if (depth == board.length && isSolution(board)) { counter++; } if (depth < board.length) { // try all positions of the next row for (int i = 0; i < board.length; i++) { board[depth] = i; solve(depth + 1, board); } } } public static void main(String[] args){ int n = 8; solve(0, new int[n]); System.out.println(counter); }

  • Missing taglibrary in Netbeans Hibernate tutorial xhtml file?

    - by Christopher W. Allen-Poole
    I just finished the Netbeans introduction to Hibernate tutorial ( http://netbeans.org/kb/docs/web/hibernate-webapp.html#01 ) and I am getting the following error: "This page calls for XML namespace declared with prefix br but no taglibrary exists" Now, I have seen a similar question somewhere else: http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5430327 but the answer is not listed there. Or, if it is, then I am clearly missing it -- line one of my index.xhtml file reads "http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml". It also does not explain why, when I reload localhost:8080, the message disappears. Here is my index.xhtml file: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" xmlns:ui="http://java.sun.com/jsf/facelets" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"> <ui:composition template="./template.xhtml"> <ui:define name="body"> <h:form> <h:commandLink action="#{filmController.previous}" value="Previous #{filmController.pageSize}" rendered="#{filmController.hasPreviousPage}"/> <h:commandLink action="#{filmController.next}" value="Next #{filmController.pageSize}" rendered="#{filmController.hasNextPage}"/> <h:dataTable value="#{filmController.filmTitles}" var="item" border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" rowClasses="jsfcrud_odd_row,jsfcrud_even_row" rules="all" style="border:solid 1px"> <h:column> <f:facet name="header"> <h:outputText value="Title"/> </f:facet> <h:outputText value="#{item.title}"/> </h:column> <h:column> <f:facet name="header"> <h:outputText value="Description"/> </f:facet> <h:outputText value="#{item.description}"/> </h:column> <h:column> <f:facet name="header"> <h:outputText value=" "/> </f:facet> <h:commandLink action="#{filmController.prepareView}" value="View"/> </h:column> </h:dataTable> <br/> </h:form> </ui:define> </ui:composition> </html>

  • Is it possible to programatically catch JavaScript SyntaxErrors?

    - by Matty
I don't think that this is doable, but wanted to throw it out to the community to confirm my suspicions. Let's say you're writing a program in another language like Python, PHP, or ASP. This program is intended to build another program written in JavaScript. However, the first program is unfortunately not immune to errors. So, occasionally, the program which builds the JavaScript program does some funky stuff and outputs a syntax error in the JavaScript source. Now some user goes and loads the program and it essentially halts, because the web browser running it can't properly parse the JavaScript. This user is probably not going to be happy. I wouldn't be. This brings me to my question. Is it possible to write an error handler that would catch these kind of syntax problems allowing the application to fail gracefully? Here's an example: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> window.onerror = errorHandler; function errorHandler(a,b,c) { alert('horray! No wait, Booo!'); } vara jfs; </script> </head> <body> Can this be done? </body> </html> or <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> try { vara jfs; } catch (e) { alert('horray! No wait, Booo!'); } </script> </head> <body> Can this be done? </body> </html>

  • What's a regular language?

    - by Javier Badia
I've read that you can't parse HTML with regular expressions because HTML is not a regular language. I tried searching Wikipedia, but I didn't understand a word of what the various related articles said. Can someone explain, in simpler terms, what's a regular (or non-regular) language, and why non-regular languages can't be parsed with regexes?
