  • fresh_when in ruby not working with xml rendering

    - by Guilherme Silveira
    While trying to implement support for conditional GETting in a rest system, we have come across the fresh_when and stale? methods. The following code works fine with 304 and not further rendering: if stale?(:etag = resource, :last_modified = resource.updated_at.utc) respond_to do |format| format.html # show.html.erb } end end But accessing 1.xml will try to render the resource twice: if stale?(:etag => resource, :last_modified => resource.updated_at.utc) respond_to do |format| format.html # show.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @order.to_xml(:controller => self, :except => [:paid_at]) } end end The error message: ActionController::DoubleRenderError in OrdersController#show Can only render or redirect once per action RAILS_ROOT: /Users/guilherme/Documents/ruby/restfulie-test Application Trace | Framework Trace | Full Trace /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/base.rb:900:in render_without_benchmark' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/benchmarking.rb:51:in render' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.4/lib/active_support/core_ext/benchmark.rb:17:in ms' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.4/lib/active_support/core_ext/benchmark.rb:10:in realtime' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.4/lib/active_support/core_ext/benchmark.rb:17:in ms' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/benchmarking.rb:51:in render' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/base.rb:1331:in send' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/base.rb:1331:in perform_action_without_filters' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/filters.rb:617:in call_filters' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/filters.rb:610:in perform_action_without_benchmark' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/benchmarking.rb:68:in perform_action_without_rescue' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.4/lib/active_support/core_ext/benchmark.rb:17:in ms' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.4/lib/active_support/core_ext/benchmark.rb:10:in realtime' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.4/lib/active_support/core_ext/benchmark.rb:17:in ms' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/benchmarking.rb:68:in perform_action_without_rescue' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/rescue.rb:160:in perform_action_without_flash' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/flash.rb:146:in perform_action' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/base.rb:532:in send' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/base.rb:532:in process_without_filters' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/filters.rb:606:in process' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/base.rb:391:in process' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/base.rb:386:in call' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/routing/route_set.rb:437:in `call' Any suggestions?   • $(document).ready() and partial view load

    - by user252160
I am developing an application using Asp.net mvc and jquery. I'd like to use the same naming convention (classes and ids) for html elements in different views. In case when I want to load a partial view asynchronously, the $(document).ready() piece of code in the main view loses its usefulness because none of the patial view's html tags and css naming is recognized by jquery. I certainly do not want to write the same code for every view. What's th ebest way to solve this issue?

The code: foreach (Control ctrl in this.pnlSolutions.Controls) Seems to only be finding html table inside the panel and 2 liternals. But it does not get the textboxes that are in the html table. Is there a simple way to get all the controls inside of a panel regardless of the nesting? thanks!

  • How to setup an hibernate project using annotations compliant with JPA2.0

    - by phmr
    I would like to setup an hibernate project, for this I use the lastest hibernate 3.5-Final. BTW my IDE is Netbeans. The problem is that each time a run the application, it seems to start from a fresh database whatever db backend I use (I tried hsqldb & sqlite): here is my persistence.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <persistence version="1.0" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence/persistence_1_0.xsd"> <persistence-unit name="PMMPU" transaction-type="RESOURCE_LOCAL"> <provider>org.hibernate.ejb.HibernatePersistence</provider> <class>model.Extrait</class> <class>model.Mot</class> <class>model.Prefixe</class> <class>model.Suffixe</class> <class>model.Texte</class> <properties> <property name="hibernate.dialect" value="dialect.SQLiteDialect"/> <property name="hibernate.connection.username" value=""/> <property name="hibernate.connection.driver_class" value="org.sqlite.JDBC"/> <property name="hibernate.connection.password" value=""/> <property name="hibernate.connection.url" value="jdbc:sqlite:test.db"/> <property name="hibernate.cache.provider_class" value="org.hibernate.cache.NoCacheProvider"/> <property name="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto" value="update"/> </properties> </persistence-unit> </persistence> I tried to change hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto value. I got a HibernateUtil class which takes care of creating the emf & em: public class HibernateUtil { private static EntityManagerFactory emf = null; private static EntityManager em = null; public static EntityManagerFactory getEmf() { if(emf == null) emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("PMMPU"); return emf; } public static EntityManager getEm() { if(em == null) em = getEmf().createEntityManager(); return em; } What did a I do wrong ? edit1: further research with mysql lead me to think that the problem is related to sqlite & hsqldb interaction with hibernate 3.5

  • Formatting webView content

    - by Samuh
I am getting some HTML text from a remote server which I am displaying inside a WebView. I need to format the text display and set a font size and color for the WebView. The only way I can think of is: pre-pending the HTML string received with a tag and specify the font information there. What is the correct way to do this?

  • ViewPager + recycling views?

    - by user291701
I'd like to create a gallery of photos that swipe left and right. At first I took a look at Gallery, but it's marked as deprecated. http://developer.android.com/reference/android/widget/Gallery.html We're told to try ViewPager instead. But the PagerAdapter class doesn't handle recycling of views for us (like a standard ListView), does it? http://developer.android.com/reference/android/support/v4/view/PagerAdapter.html Is it up to us to build the recycling mechanism? Thanks

  • Creating a SelectListItem with the disabled="disabled" attribute

    - by Mark
I realize Internet Explorer ignores the disabled attribute, but I'm not seeing a way to create, via the HtmlHelper, a SelectListItem that will spit out the following HTML: <option disabled="disabled">don't click this</option> The only properties SelectListItem has are: new SelectListItem{ Name = "don't click this", Value = string.Empty, Selected = false } The only option I see is to Subclass the SelectListItem to add an Enabled property to get the value to the view Not use the HTML helper for DropDownList Create a new HtmlHelper extension that accepts my new EnablableSelectList and adds my disabled attribute.

  • Using nested Master Pages

    - by abatishchev
    Hi. I'm very new to ASP.NET, help me please understand MasterPages conception more. I have Site.master with common header data (css, meta, etc), center form (blank) and footer (copyright info, contact us link, etc). <%@ Master Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Site.master.cs" Inherits="_SiteMaster" %> <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head id="tagHead" runat="server"> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href="styles.css" type="text/css" /> </head> <body> <form id="frmMaster" runat="server"> <div> <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="holderForm" runat="server"></asp:ContentPlaceHolder> <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="holderFooter" runat="server">Some footer here</asp:ContentPlaceHolder> </div> </form> </body> </html> and I want to use second master page for a project into sub directory, which would contains SQL query on Page_Load for logging (it isn't necessary for whole site). <%@ Master Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Project.master.cs" Inherits="_ProjectMaster" MasterPageFile="~/Site.master" %> <asp:Content ContentPlaceHolderID="holderForm" runat="server"> <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="holderForm" runat="server" EnableViewState="true"></asp:ContentPlaceHolder> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ContentPlaceHolderID="holderFooter" runat="server"> <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="holderFooter" runat="server" EnableViewState="true"></asp:ContentPlaceHolder> </asp:Content> But I have a problem: footer isn't displayed. Where is my mistake? Am I right to use second master page as super class for logging? Project page looks like this: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" MasterPageFile="~/Project.master" %> <asp:Content ContentPlaceHolderID="holderForm" runat="server"> <p>Hello World!</p> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ContentPlaceHolderID="holderFooter" runat="Server"> Some footer content </asp:Content>

  • Using the IE8 'Developer Tools' to debug earlier IE versions

    - by mieze
Hi guys and gals I am less than satisfied in my HTML/CSS/JS debugging of pages with IE6 and 7 specific bugs. I am aware that IE8 has a Firebug clone, called 'Developer Tools' installed. Is it possible to have IE8 installed (maybe on a VM, i don't mind), set it to compatibility mode (is there one for IE6?), then perform JS debugging and live HTML changes, using the IE8 Developer Tools, just like we can in Firebug? many many thanks mieze

  • multiple stateful iframes per page will overwrite JSESSIONID?

    - by Nikita
Hello, Looking for someone to either confirm or refute my theory that deploying two iframes pointing to two different stateful pages on the same domain can lead to JSESSIONIDs being overwritten. Here's what I mean: Setup suppose you have two pages that require HttpSession state (session affinity) to function correctly - deployed at http://www.foo.com/page1 and http://www.foo.com/page2 assume www.foo.com is a single host running a Tomcat (6.0.20, fwiw) that uses JSESSIONID for session id's. suppose these pages are turned into two iframe widgets to be embedded on 3rd party sites: http://www.site.com/page1" / (and /page2 respectively) suppose there a 3rd party site that wishes to place both widgets on the same page at http://www.bar.com/foowidgets.html Can the following race condition occur? a new visitor goes to http://www.bar.com/foowidgets.html browser starts loading URLs in foowidgets.html including the two iframe 'src' URLs because browsers open multiple concurrent connections against the same host (afaik up to 6 in chrome/ff case) the browser happens to simultaneously issue requests for http://www.foo.com/page1 and http://www.foo.com/page2 The tomcat @ foo.com receives both requests at about the same time, calls getSession() for the first time (on two different threads) and lazily creates two HttpSessions and, thus, two JSESSIONIDs, with values $Page1 and $Page2. The requests also stuff data into respective sessions (that data will be required to process subsequent requests) assume that the browser first receives response to the page1 request. Browser sets cookie JSESSIONID=$Page1 for HOST www.foo.com next response to the page2 request is received and the browser overwrites cookie JSESSIONID for HOST www.foo.com with $Page2 user clicks on something in 'page1' iframe on foowidgets.html; browser issues 2nd request to http://www.foo.com/page1?action=doSomethingStateful. That request carries JSESSIONID=$Page2 (and not $Page1 - because cookie value was overwritten) when foo.com receives this request it looks up the wrong HttpSession instance (because JSESSIONID key is $Page2 and NOT $Page1). Foobar! Can the above happen? I think so, but would appreciate a confirmation. If the above is clearly possible, what are some solutions given that we'd like to support multiple iframes per page? We don't have a firm need for the iframes to share the same HttpSession, though that would be nice. In the event that the solution will still stipulate a separate HttpSession per iframe, it is - of course - mandatory that iframe 1 does not end up referencing httpSession state for iframe 2 instead of own. off top of my head I can think of: map page1 and page2 to different domains (ops overhead) use URL rewriting and never cookies (messes up analytics) anything else? thanks a lot, -nikita

  • CherryPy sessions for same domain, different port

    - by detly
Consider the script below. It will launch two subprocesses, each one a CherryPy app (hit Ctrl+C or whatever the KeyboardInterrupt combo is on your system to end them both). If you run it with CP 3.0 (taking care to change the 3.0/3.1 specific lines in "StartServer"), then visit: http://localhost:15002/ ...you see an empty dict. Then visit: http://localhost:15002/set?val=10 http://localhost:15002/ ...and you see the newly populated dict. Then visit: http://localhost:15012/ ...and go back to http://localhost:15002/ ...and nothing has changed. If you try the same thing with CP 3.1 (remember the lines in "StartServer"!), when you get to the last step, the dict is now empty. This happens in Windows and Debian, Python 2.5 and 2.6. You can try all sorts of things: changing to file storage, separating the storage paths... the only difference it makes is that the sessions might get merged instead of erased. I've read another post about this as well, and there's a suggestion there to put the session tools config keys in the app config rather than the global config, but I don't think that's relevant to this usage where the apps run independently. What do I do to get independent CherryPy applications to NOT interfere with each other? Note: I originally asked this on the CherryPy mailing list but haven't had a response yet so I'm trying here. I hope that's okay. import os, os.path, socket, sys import subprocess import cgi import cherrypy HTTP_PORT = 15002 HTTP_HOST = "127.0.0.1" site1conf = { 'global' : { 'server.socket_host' : HTTP_HOST, 'server.socket_port' : HTTP_PORT, 'tools.sessions.on' : True, # 'tools.sessions.storage_type': 'file', # 'tools.sessions.storage_path': '1', # 'tools.sessions.storage_path': '.', 'tools.sessions.timeout' : 1440}} site2conf = { 'global' : { 'server.socket_host' : HTTP_HOST, 'server.socket_port' : HTTP_PORT + 10, 'tools.sessions.on' : True, # 'tools.sessions.storage_type': 'file', # 'tools.sessions.storage_path': '2', # 'tools.sessions.storage_path': '.', 'tools.sessions.timeout' : 1440}} class Home(object) : def __init__(self, key): self.key = key @cherrypy.expose def index(self): return """\ <html> <body>Session: <br>%s </body> </html> """ % cgi.escape(str(dict(cherrypy.session))) @cherrypy.expose def set(self, val): cherrypy.session[self.key.upper()] = val return """\ <html> <body>Set %s to %s</body> </html>""" % (cgi.escape(self.key), cgi.escape(val)) def StartServer(conf, key): cherrypy.config.update(conf) print 'Starting server (%s)' % key cherrypy.tree.mount(Home(key), '/', {}) # Start the web server. #### 3.0 # cherrypy.server.quickstart() # cherrypy.engine.start() #### #### 3.1 cherrypy.engine.start() cherrypy.engine.block() #### def Main(): # Start first webserver proc1 = subprocess.Popen( [sys.executable, os.path.abspath(__file__), "1"]) proc2 = subprocess.Popen( [sys.executable, os.path.abspath(__file__), "2"]) proc1.wait() proc2.wait() if __name__ == "__main__": print sys.argv if len(sys.argv) == 1: # Master process Main() elif(int(sys.argv[1]) == 1): StartServer(site1conf, 'magic') elif(int(sys.argv[1]) == 2): StartServer(site2conf, 'science') else: sys.exit(1)

Following the answers from google, I got this code to impersonate public class MyImpersonation{ WindowsImpersonationContext impersonationContext; [DllImport("advapi32.dll")] public static extern int LogonUserA(String lpszUserName, String lpszDomain, String lpszPassword, int dwLogonType, int dwLogonProvider, ref IntPtr phToken); [DllImport("advapi32.dll", CharSet = CharSet.Auto, SetLastError = true)] public static extern int DuplicateToken(IntPtr hToken, int impersonationLevel, ref IntPtr hNewToken); [DllImport("advapi32.dll", CharSet = CharSet.Auto, SetLastError = true)] public static extern bool RevertToSelf(); [DllImport("kernel32.dll", CharSet = CharSet.Auto)] public static extern bool CloseHandle(IntPtr handle); public bool impersonateValidUser(String userName, String domain, String password) { WindowsIdentity tempWindowsIdentity; IntPtr token = IntPtr.Zero; IntPtr tokenDuplicate = IntPtr.Zero; if (RevertToSelf()) { if (LogonUserA(userName, domain, password, LOGON32_LOGON_INTERACTIVE, LOGON32_PROVIDER_DEFAULT, ref token) != 0) { if (DuplicateToken(token, 2, ref tokenDuplicate) != 0) { tempWindowsIdentity = new WindowsIdentity(tokenDuplicate); impersonationContext = tempWindowsIdentity.Impersonate(); if (impersonationContext != null) { CloseHandle(token); CloseHandle(tokenDuplicate); return true; } } } } if (token != IntPtr.Zero) CloseHandle(token); if (tokenDuplicate != IntPtr.Zero) CloseHandle(tokenDuplicate); return false; } } It worked really well until I've used it with the BackgroundWorker class. In this case, I've added a impersonation in the the code that runs asynchronously. I have no errors, but the issue I'm having is that the impersonation does not work when it is used in the async method. In code this looks something like this: instantiate a BGWorker, and add an event handler to the DoWork event: _bgWorker = new BackgroundWorker(); _bgWorker.DoWork += new DoWorkEventHandler(_bgWorker_DoWork); in the above handler, a impersonation is made before running some code. private void _bgWorker_DoWork(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) { MyImpersonation myImpersonation = new MyImpersonation(); myImpersonation.impersonateValidUser(user, domain, pass) //run some code... myImpersonation.undoImpersonation(); } the code is launched with BGWorker.RunWorkerAsync(); As I said before, no error is thrown, only that the code acts as if I did't run any impersonation, that is with it's default credentials. Moreover, the impersonation method returns true, so the impersonation took place at a certain level, but probably not on the current thread. This must happen because the async code runs on another thread, so there must be something that needs to be added to the MyImpersonation class. But what?? :) Thanks in advance, Lucian

  • Java Builder pattern with Generic type bounds

    - by I82Much
Hi all, I'm attempting to create a class with many parameters, using a Builder pattern rather than telescoping constructors. I'm doing this in the way described by Joshua Bloch's Effective Java, having private constructor on the enclosing class, and a public static Builder class. The Builder class ensures the object is in a consistent state before calling build(), at which point it delegates the construction of the enclosing object to the private constructor. Thus public class Foo { // Many variables private Foo(Builder b) { // Use all of b's variables to initialize self } public static final class Builder { public Builder(/* required variables */) { } public Builder var1(Var var) { // set it return this; } public Foo build() { return new Foo(this); } } } I then want to add type bounds to some of the variables, and thus need to parametrize the class definition. I want the bounds of the Foo class to be the same as that of the Builder class. public class Foo<Q extends Quantity> { private final Unit<Q> units; // Many variables private Foo(Builder<Q> b) { // Use all of b's variables to initialize self } public static final class Builder<Q extends Quantity> { private Unit<Q> units; public Builder(/* required variables */) { } public Builder units(Unit<Q> units) { this.units = units; return this; } public Foo build() { return new Foo<Q>(this); } } } This compiles fine, but the compiler is allowing me to do things I feel should be compiler errors. E.g. public static final Foo.Builder<Acceleration> x_Body_AccelField = new Foo.Builder<Acceleration>() .units(SI.METER) .build(); Here the units argument is not Unit<Acceleration> but Unit<Length>, but it is still accepted by the compiler. What am I doing wrong here? I want to ensure at compile time that the unit types match up correctly.

  • Loading a Page into a jQuery Dialog

    - by Dave
I tend to follow a fairly "modular" approach to building applications and I recently started working with jQuery. The application I'm working on is going to be fairly large so I'm trying to break pieces out into separate files/modules when possible. One example of this is a "User Settings" dialog. This dialog has a form, a few tabs, and quite a good number of input fields so I want to develop it in a separate HTML file (PHP actually, but it can be considered HTML for the purposes of this example). It's an entire page in and of itself with all the tags you would expect such as: <html><head></head><body></body></html> So I can now develop, what I want to be, the dialog separate from the base application. This dialog has it's own Javascript (A LOT of Javascript, in fact) in the head as well, with jQuery $(document).ready(){} capturing, etc. Everything works flawlessly in isolation. However, when I attempt to load the jQuery modal dialog with the page (inside of the main application page), as one might expect, trouble ensues. Here's a brief, very simple, example of what it looks like: editUserDialog.load ("editUser.php", {id : $('#userList').val(), popup : "true"}, function () { editUserDialog.dialog ("option", "title" , "Edit User"); editUserDialog.dialog ('open'); }); (I'm passing in a "popup" flag to the page so that the page can determine its context -- i.e. as a page or inside of the jQuery dialog). Question 1: When I moved the code from the "head" into "body" (in the editUser.php page) it actually worked for the most part. It seemed that jQuery was calling the $(document).ready() function in the context of the body of the loaded file and not the head. Is this a bad idea? Question 2: Is my process for building this application just totally flawed to begin with? I've scoured the net to attempt to find a "best practices" sort of document to building reasonably large applications using jQuery/PHP without a lot of success so maybe there's something out there someone else is aware of that I've somehow missed. Thanks for bearing with me while I attempt to describe the issues I've encountered and I hope I've accurately described the problem.

  • link_to passing paramater and display problem - tag feature - Ruby on Rails

    - by bgadoci
I have gotten a great deal of help from KandadaBoggu on my last question and very very thankful for that. As we were getting buried in the comments I wanted to break this part out. I am attempting to create a tag feature on the rails blog I am developing. The relationship is Post has_many :tags and Tag belongs_to :post. Adding and deleting tags to posts are working great. In my /view/posts/index.html.erb I have a section called tags where I am successfully querying the Tags table, grouping them and displaying the count next to the tag_name (as a side note, I mistakenly called the column containing the tag name, 'tag_name' instead of just 'name' as I should have) . In addition the display of these groups are a link that is referencing the index method in the PostsController. That is where the problem is. When you navigate to /posts you get an error because there is no parameter being passed (without clicking the tag group link). I have the .empty? in there so not sure what is going wrong here. Here is the error and code: Error You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! You might have expected an instance of Array. The error occurred while evaluating nil.empty? /views/posts/index.html.erb <% @tag_counts.each do |tag_name, tag_count| %> <tr> <td><%= link_to(tag_name, posts_path(:tag_name => tag_name)) %></td> <td>(<%=tag_count%>)</td> </tr> <% end %> PostsController def index @tag_counts = Tag.count(:group => :tag_name, :order => 'updated_at DESC', :limit => 10) @posts=Post.all(:joins => :tags,:conditions=>(params[:tag_name].empty? ? {}: { :tags => { :tag_name => params[:tag_name] }} ) ) respond_to do |format| format.html # index.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @posts } format.json { render :json => @posts } format.atom end end

  • OBML file format

    - by Gowtham
Opera mini browser can save HTML pages in OBML (Opera Binary Markup Language) format for offline browsing. I am wondering if I can convert a HTML file to OBML format and save in my phone for later viewing. For doing so, I need details about the OBML format, which seems to be undocumented. Do you know more details on this OBML format? Thanks for your time.
