How To Publish Business Objects Query Service

We are trying to copy a BO Query Service from one Universe to another. If you use the BO Query As A Service(QAAS) tool you can do this, but end up basically recreating the query service. It seems like the BusinessObjects.DSWS.* libraries allow you to read and write query services, but those don't appear in the QAAS tool. I think that those queries go into a different Universe than the QAAS tool pings. Perhaps there is a Universe for data and another for Web Service Queries. Monitoring the QAAS tool for HTTP traffic revealed that the BO Web Service used to run queries for the data they contain is also used to manage the Web Service queries. I was able to copy one Query Service into a new one in a new Universe using a Replace() on the XML string in QuerySpec to change the UniverseID. We can basically copy one Query Service to another Universe without manually rebuilding it except for one little thing. The QAAS tool includes a Publish button. This does something unknown, but important. Perhaps it makes some SOAP, WSDL or config files so that the copied Query Service is public. There doesn't seem to be any HTTP traffic to snoop on when it's doing this. The BusinessObjects.DSWS.* libraries include a Publish feature, but it's not for Query Services. It's for general files like Excel and PDF. Right now, we are relegated to using two tools. Does anyone know about how to Publish a BO Query Service programmatically just like the QAAS Tool?

PHP Codeigniter Undefined Offset Error

Hello, I am building a Codeigniter shopping cart. On the cart details page I have a form input field allowing the user to type in the quantity required of a product, and a submit button to post the information to the update function. When there is just one item in the cart, when updating the quantity everything works as it should. How do I create a C# .NET Web Service that Posts items to a users Facebook Wall?

I'm currently toying around with the Clarity .NET Facebook API but am finding certain situations with authentication to be kind of limiting. I keep going through the tutorials but always end up hitting a brick wall with what I want to do. Perhaps I just cannot do it? I want to make a Web Service that takes in the require credentials (APIKey, SecretKey, UsersId (or Session Key?) and whatever else I would need), and then do various tasks: Post to users wall, add events etc. The problem I am having is this: The current documentation, examples and support provide a way to do this within the context of a Web site. Within this context, the required "connect" popup can be initiated and allow the user to authenticate and and connect the application. From that point on the Web can go on with its business to do what it needs to do. If I close the browser and come back to the page, I have to push the connect button again. Except this time, since I was already logged into facebook, I don't have to go through the whole connection process. But still ... How do applications like Tweetdeck get around this? They seemingly have you connect once, when you install their application, and you don't have to do it again. I would assume that this same idea would have to applied towards making a web service because: You don't know what context the user is in when making the Web service call. The web service methods being called could be coming from a Windows Form app, or code behind in a workflow.

C#: WebBrowser.Navigated Only Fires when I MessageBox.Show();

I have a WebBrowser control which is being instantiated dynamically from a background STA thread because the parent thread is a BackgroundWorker and has lots of other things to do. The problem is that the Navigated event never fires, unless I pop a MessageBox.Show() in the method that told it to .Navigate(). I've tried supplanting this line with a Thread.Sleep(), and by suspending the parent thread. Once I get this out of the way, I intend to Suspend the parent thread while the WebBrowser is doing its job and find some way of passing the resulting HTML back to the parent thread so it can continue with further logic. Why does it do this? How can I fix it? If someone can provide me with a way to fetch the content of a web page, fill out some data, and return the content of the page on the other side of the submit button, all against a webserver that doesn't support POST verbs nor passing data via QueryString, I'll also accept that answer as this whole exercise will have been unneccessary.

Making an AJAX WCF Web Service request during an Async Postback

I want to provide status updates during a long-running task on an ASP.NET WebForms page with AJAX. Is there a way to get the ScriptManager to execute and process a script for a web service request during an async postback? I have a script on the page that makes a web service request. It runs on page load and periodically using setInterval(). It's running correctly before the async postback is initiated, but it stops running during the async postback, and doesn't run again until after the async postback completes. I have an UpdatePanel with a button to trigger an async postback, which executes the long-running task. I also have an instance of an AJAX WCF Web service that is working correctly to fetch data and present it on the page but, like I said, it doesn't fetch and present the data until after the async postback completes. During the async postback, the long-running task sends updates from the page to the web service. The problem is that I can debug and step through the web service and see that the status updates are correctly set, but the updates aren't retrieved by the client script until the async postback completes. It seems the Script Manager is busy executing the async postback, so it doesn't run my other JavaScript via setInterval() until the postback completes. Is there a way to get the Script Manager, or otherwise, to run the script to fetch data from the WCF web service during the async postback? I've tried various methods of using the PageRequestManager to run the script on the client-side BeginRequest event for the async postback, but it runs the script, then stops processing the code that should be running via setInterval() while the page request executes.

PHP File upload fails with blank screen when size exceeds 742 KB.

Hi friends, This is one of the most bizarre errors I've come across. So I've written a little file upload web app for my friend and it works fine for any file less than or equal to 742kB in size. Needless to say, I arrived at this precise number based on relentless testing. Weird part is that if the file size is just a few KB more, for example 743 or 750, I get an error saying "MySQL has gone away". But if it is 1MB or more, then I just get a blank screen. And it happens in less than 2 seconds after I hit the upload button. So it doesn't look like a time-out to me. I checked out the PHP.ini file for post size and upload size, they are all set to 5 MB or more. And the timeout is set to 60 seconds. The uploaded file sits in MySQL database in a field of datatype mediumblob. I tried changing that to longblob. But that didn't help either. Any help? Thanks for reading, Girish

UINavigationController creating a blank view out of thin air?

Ok, this one is really weird... I can't show code for it exactly cause it follows a pretty snake-like pattern through subclasses etc, there would be a pile of it. The important parts are that I push a view controller, which during viewWillAppear pushes another view controller onto the nav controller. My nav controller is an item in a tab bar. When I press back twice, I wind up at a blank view with the same title as my root view controller, (I have no other views having this title). I even tested and put a NSLog() in viewWillAppear to make sure it was the same view appearing, but for some reason the mystery blank view is showing up instead of my view. I am able to get the original view back by pressing the button on the tab bar again. (The one that corresponds to the nav controller). This confuses me greatly, so any help would be appreciated. I will post code if somebody could narrow down what code to put. Thanks.

Android Launcher Shortcuts

I have made a simple punch in / punch out time clock application. In the manifest I have these settings on it <activity android:name=".Toggle" android:exported="true" android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Translucent.NoTitleBar"> As it is now I can create a shortcut on the home screen then press it. The first time I press it it starts the Toggle activity and completes it fine, but it also opens up the TimeClock activity on the screen. If I then hit the back button I go back to the home. I can now press this shortcut and it will start the Toggle activity and not change the screen. Before I added: shortcutIntent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP); It would open up the TimeClock activity every time. Now it is just the first time. But I want it to never show anything on the screen when the Toggle shortcut is pressed. Does anyone have any idea of how to get rid of that?

How to bind form collection back to custom model object that uses 2 custom objects in asp.net mvc?

What I'm trying to do is rather basic, but I might have my facts mixed up. I have a details page that has a custom class as it's Model. The custom class uses 2 custom objects with yet another custom object a property of one of the 2. The details page outputs a fair amount of information, but allows the user to post a comment. When the user clicks the post button, the page gets posted to a Details action that looks something like this: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Details(VideoDetailModel vidAndComment) { ....} The only fields on the form that is posted are CommentText and VideoId. Here is what the VideoDetailModel looks like. public class VideoDetailModel { public VideoDetailModel() { Video = new VideoDTO(); Comment = new CommentDTO(); } public VideoDetailModel(VideoDTO vid) { Video = vid; Comment = new CommentDTO(); } public VideoDTO Video { get; set; } public CommentDTO Comment { get; set; } } VideoDTO has a few properties, but the ones I need are VideoId. CommentDTO's pertinent properties include CommentText (which is posting correctly) and a UserDTO object that contains a userId property. Everything other than the CommentText value is not being posted. I also have the following line on the ascx page, but the model value never gets posted to the controller. Html.Hidden("Model.Video.VideoId", Model.Video.VideoId); I'm really not sure what I'm missing here. I suppose if I added more form fields for the properties I need, they would get posted, but I only need 1 form entry field for the CommentText. If I could get the same Model objects value that were sent to the page to post with the page, that would help. I'll be happy to make any clarifications needed here. I'm just at loss as to what's going on.

C# - WinForms - Exception Handling for Events

Hi all, I apologize if this is a simple question (my Google-Fu may be bad today). Imagine this WinForms application, that has this type of design: Main application - shows one dialog - that 1st dialog can show another dialog. Both of the dialogs have OK/Cancel buttons (data entry). I'm trying to figure out some type of global exception handling, along the lines of Application.ThreadException. What I mean is: Each of the dialogs will have a few event handlers. The 2nd dialog may have: private void ComboBox_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { try { AllSelectedIndexChangedCodeInThisFunction(); } catch(Exception ex) { btnOK.enabled = false; // Bad things, let's not let them save // log stuff, and other good things } } Really, all the event handlers in this dialog should be handled in this way. It's an exceptional-case, so I just want to log all the pertinent information, show a message, and disable the okay button for that dialog. But, I want to avoid a try/catch in each event handler (if I could). A draw-back of all these try/catch's is this: private void someFunction() { // If an exception occurs in SelectedIndexChanged, // it doesn't propagate to this function combobox.selectedIndex = 3; } I don't believe that Application.ThreadException is a solution, because I don't want the exception to fall all the way-back to the 1st dialog and then the main app. I don't want to close the app down, I just want to log it, display a message, and let them cancel out of the dialog. They can decide what to do from there (maybe go somewhere else in the app). Basically, a "global handler" in between the 1st dialog and the 2nd (and then, I suppose, another "global handler" in between the main app and the 1st dialog). Thanks.

i have some element in my container and want to save all properties of this elements. i list this element by VisualTreeHelper and save its attributes in DB, question is that how to retrieve this properties and affect them? i think that The Silverlight have some statement that behave like Exec in Sql-Server. i save properties in one line that delimited by semicolon.(if you have any suggestion ,appreciate) Edit: suppose this scenario: End-User choose a tool from Mytoolbox(a container like Grid) ,a dialog shown its properties for creation and finally draw Grid . in resumption he/she choose one element(like Button) and drop it on one of the grid's cell. now i want to save workspace that he/she created! My RootLayout have one container control so any of element are child of this.HERETOFORE i want create one string that contain all general properties(not all of them) and save to DB, and when i load this control, i create an element by the type that i saved and affect it by the properties that i saved; with something like EXEC command. is this possible ? have you new approach for this scenario(Guide me with example please).

.NET OwnerDraw ComboBox: Vista/7 themed DropDownList

I'm working on a custom ComboBox for a project, and have the basic painting working. One of the remaining things to do is make it look like the default ComboBox in Vista and 7, when the DropDownStyle is set to DropDownList (looks like a button instead of a regular ComboBox). I read much about VisualStyleRenderer, read ComboBox.cs and ComboBoxRenderer.cs, and tried to get it working. It works in the sense of, it does something. It just doesn't do what it's supposed to do. I also found an article about Vista themed Owner-Drawn Buttons, but it is in C++ (which would be a challenge on its own for me) and it seems like an awful lot of code. If anyone could supply either VB or C# code, that would be great. Below is my current code. PHP File Downloading Questions

Hey All! I am currently running into some problems with user's downloading a file stored on my server. I have code set up to auto download a file once the user hits the download button. It is working for all files, but when the size get's larger than 30 MB it is having issues. Is there a limit on user download? Microsoft Reporting 2005 and Report Viewer Report ASP.Net Session Has Expired on Load

At my job, I have been tasked with fixing an error with our reporting server. That error is ASP.Net Session Has Expired. This error occurs when the Visual Studio ReportViewer 2005 Control attempts to load a report. We are trying to host this report to users hitting our Internet exposed Windows 2003 Server running IIS 6.0. The reportviewer control is attempting to load this report from a second server running Microsoft SQL 2005 w/Reporting Services. The SQL server is not exposed to the Internet. Here is the weird thing. This error never occurs on the development box. When it is transferred to the production IIS server, the error starts to occur. It only happens every time the report is first loaded. If the browser's refresh button is clicked 5-10 times, the report will finally load correctly. I have reproduced this same error on the latest version of Mozilla Firefox, IE 7, and IE 8. The report only takes 10-20 seconds to load. I have tried timeouts in the 300+ second range on the reporting server/iis production server. I have tried a few options like Async (which causes images not to load properly) and setting the session mode to iproc with a high timeout value in the Reporting Server's web.config. I have also tried using the reporting server's IP address in the report viewer's code instead of the server name. I plan on verifying a picture loading issue which I also read about tomorrow when I get into work. I am unsure what service packs Visual Studio 2005 and the MSSQL server are running. Was an update released to fix this problem that I could not find? Does anyone have a fix for this?

Check box and text box for Other value

When I have a set of either check boxes or radio buttons I often need to have an Other choice. This check box or radio button is very often accompanied by a text box where the user is supposed to fill out what this Other is. How do you usually handle this set up? What kind of markup do you use? What do you require in your validation? Do you use java script for anything? For example: How do you make the form accessible? Do you use and how do you use the label tag, for example. Do you connect the check box and text box in any way with some javascript? For example, do you activate the text box when the check box is checked? Do you check or uncheck the check box automatically if the text box is filled out or cleared? Do you let validation fail with error messages if the check box is checked but the text box is not filled out, or if the text box is filled out but the check box is not checked? Or do you just consider it not filled out and not checked? Very unsure how to best deal with this issue, so any advice and examples are most welcome c",)

Internet Explorer 8 timeout too quick on page POSTs

We have an asp.net site running, which has been working fine for some time, but recently I have been experiencing some issues with IE8. On posting some pages - mainly on our development server, although on staging too - we get an occasional "Internet Explore cannot display the webpage" error along with the button asking to diagnose connection problems. IE only seems to wait 10 seconds before timing out. I know that the page itself may take longer to load the first time (on dev and staging). So press F5 and everything then works fine. Is there anything that should be done in the aspx page to tell IE to wait a bit longer? I thought I had read that the default timeout supposed to be 90 seconds or something for browsers. A bit more info: It mostly happens on a POSTing a signup page, but that is just because I test that page and it starts the IIS App, makes the first connection to SQL and pre-caches some information. That first time the page can take 10-15 seconds to come back. IE8 times out after 10 seconds as it has had nothing back. This happens on a dev W7x64 machine with 8GB RAM, as well as on a staging server WIN2008. Having googled around a bit, some people are seeing the same problem, but no conclusive pointers to the problem or a solution. It isn't a connection problem; everything works fine in Firefox, Chrome and even IE7; I have tried with add-ons disabled and resetting IE settings, still happens. Ideas welcome.

Call bindings for DependencyObject when DependencyProperites are changed

Is there a way to notify a DependencyObject's bindinigs when the inner DependencyProperties have changed? But I also have a binding for a BackgroundDef instance, which should create a Brush and draw the background of a button (either a single color, or two gradient colors). My problem is that the two-way bindings for the DependencyProperties update the properties, but the binding for the class instance is not called, as apparently the entire object does not change. Any idea how I could call the bindings for the DependencyObject when the DependencyProperties are changed?

Flash Security Error Accessing URL with crossdomain.xml

Hello, I recently deployed a Flash application to a server, and am now experiencing errors when making HTTPService requests. I have put what I believe to be the most permissive crossdomain.xml possible in the wwwroot folder, and still get the errors. Interestingly enough, the error only seems to occur when the request is made from a direct user interaction (i.e. button click). The application makes other requests that are initiated by other means(i.e creationComplete) , and they seem to work as expected. Anyone see anything wrong with the crossdomain.xml, or have any other suggestions? .NET Test Harness what should it have

Hi Folks, We have a software house developing code for us on a project, .NET Web Service (WCF) and we are also paying for a test harness to be built as a separate billable task on a daily rate. I have just joined the company and am reviewing what we are getting from the software house and wanted to know what you guys in industry thought about it? Basically what we got was a WinForm that called the w/s that had an input area (Web Service Request) to drop our XML a Submit button along with a response area for the result of the Web Response and that's it... Our internal BA has created all the xml request documents so there was no logic put into the harness around this. Looking on the Net for a definition of a Test Harness I got this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Test_harness It states it should have these 3 below things: Automate the testing process. Execute test suites of test cases. Generate associated test reports. Clearly we have got none of this apart from a partial "Automate the testing process" via a WinForm. OK, from my development background I would expect someone to Produce a WinForm as a test harness 5 years ago and really should be using some sort of Tooling around this, I explicitly told the Software House I expected some sort of tooling (NUnit,NBUnit, SOAPIU) so we could create a regression test pack for future use. [Didn’t get it but I asked for this after the requirements were signed off as I wasn’t employed then :)] Would someone be able to clarify with me if my requirement for this is over realistic, I know if I did this, I would use NUnit and TDD and then reuse the test harness as a regression test pack in future? I am interested to see what the community thought. Cheers

How to determine if DataGridView contains uncommitted changes when bound to a SqlDataAdapter

I have a form which contains a DataGridView, a BindingSource, a DataTable, and a SqlDataAdapter. Question: How can I determine if the user has modified data in the DataGridView but not committed it to the database? Is there an easy way to compare the current DataGridView data to the last-retrieved query? (Note that there would not be any other threads or users altering data in SQL at the same time.)

Stop UITextView from jumping when programatically setting text

Hi there, I have to update a small amount of text in a scrolling UITextView. I'll only be inserting a character where the cursor currently is, and I'll be doing this on a press of a button on my navigation bar. My problem is that whenever I call the setText method of the text view, it jumps to the bottom of the text. I've tried using contentOffset and resetting the selectedRange but it doesn't work! Here's my example: // Remember offset and selection CGPoint contentOffset = [entryTextView contentOffset]; NSRange selectedRange = [entryTextView selectedRange]; // Update text entryTextView.text = entryTextView.text; // Try and reset offset and selection [entryTextView setContentOffset:contentOffset animated:NO]; [entryTextView setSelectedRange: selectedRange]; Is there any way you can update the text without any scroll movement at all... as if they'd just typed something on the keyboard? JQuery how to resubmit form after ajax call success

I am using JQuery to perform form submission through an ajax request. I use form.submit(function() { if( success ) { return true; } validate(); //proceeds to an ajax call return false; } On request success I want to either proceed with form submission or user callback. Therefore, if the user callback is undefined, I will submit the form on form validation success (from my validate function). config = { successCallback: function() { success = true; form.submit(); //does not work } }; validate = function() { $.ajax( ... success: function(data) { //code logic config.successCallback(); } ); }; The ajax success callback will call config.successCallback() and if it was never overridden by the user, it would proceed to normal form submission. I tried using an instance variable (success) to make sure 'return true' would proceed to default form submission. Unfortunately this is not working. It seems that the 'return false' statement that prevents default form submission will neglect any further submit calls even if an instance variable was set. It only works after clicking the submit button another time (that makes it twice for it to work). Is there any workaround for this. I want to both use a user callback when provided but proceed with default form submission when not, and since I am using an ajax function to validate the form, the ajax success callback is complicating things.

Hello EveryOne!! Hope You all are fine and also in Your best of moods!! I need You Guys help.. I need to Create an Image Gallery!! That may be use Concept of Scrolling and Paging together. When i Click on Button, It will open new view in landscape mode. This View is for my Image Gallery.. It Shows 5 Images 1) - Centered Large Image With its description on Bottom. 2) - Next Coming image on left side, This image is slightly tilled at some angle, Without any description at bottom. 3)next to next coming image on left to 2nd image. 4) - previous image on right side, This image is slightly tilled at some angle, Without any description at bottom. 5)Previous to Previous image on right of 4th image And All images are scrollable.. like When i scroll 2nd image, it Will move to Center and show its description and image Which is already centered move to previous image. Sorry for my Confused English, I have also given link Bellow. kindly Check it. Click here For Showing image. I Tried for Basic code of paging and scrolling but unluckily nothing helpful.
