• What HTML is permitted within Flash text fields.

  Hi, Could someone clarify for me what input Flash accepts for its text fields? I am tasked with managing a content management system, this then generates XML which power's flash sites. I have nothing to do with Flash. I work with PHP. Currently we use a rather temperamental Flash Text Editor which is prone to all sorts of troubles. I tried to plug-in tinyMce but it broke the Flash templates. I then recently spoke to someone who said that flash should take any HTML. Now I am confused as this would point to a dodgy template. Can someone clarify. Do Flash text fields handle all HTML or just a limited subset of HTML. If it is the latter, what happens if it comes across a tag it doesn't recognise? Does it display the tag or break? Thanks, Jason

• Using Django Admin for a custom database solution

  A client wants to have a simple intranet application to manage his process. He runs a Quarry and wishes to track number of loads delivered per day and associated activities. Since I knew about Django's excellent Admin interface, I figured I could define the "Schema" in models.py and have Django Admin generate the forms. I did exactly that and the result is not bad at all. I've been able to customize the look and feel to suit the client's taste. Some questions: Is Django Admin the right choice for such a use-case? Will I run to problems in the future due to flexibility of the framework? Is there a better framework out there specifically designed for this use-case (general Database management for small businesses)? I prefer ones written in Python since I can hack it up to customize. • How to resolve this very heavy query that slows down the application?

  Hi, We have a web application running in a production enviroment and at some point the client complained about how slow the application got. When we checked what was going on with the application and the database we discover this "precious" query that was being executed by several users at the same time (thus inflicting a extremely high load on the database server): SELECT NULL AS table_cat, o.owner AS table_schem, o.object_name AS table_name, o.object_type AS table_type, NULL AS remarks FROM all_objects o WHERE o.owner LIKE :1 ESCAPE :"SYS_B_0" AND o.object_name LIKE :2 ESCAPE :"SYS_B_1" AND o.object_type IN(:"SYS_B_2", :"SYS_B_3") ORDER BY table_type, table_schem, table_name Our application does not execute this query, I believe it is an Hibernate internal query. I've found little information on why Hibernate does this extremely heavy query, so any help is very much appreciated! The production enviroment information: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 (Tikanga), JDK 1.5, web container OC4J (whitin Oracle Application Server), Oracle Database 10g Release 10.0.0.1, JDBC Driver for JDK 1.2 and 1.3, Hibernate version 3.2.6.ga.   hi all, in a table view i have set a UISearchBar set the delegate and add the protocol. When user tap a word everything is ok exept that the search of "tennis" and "Tennis" is not the same. • Updated iphone application not live yet

  Hi All, 3 weeks back we uploaded an application on the iTunes(V1.0). On Thursday we updated that application with new build (V1.2). I clicked the "Update" button on itunesconnect.apple.com and followed uploaded the new binary and new contents. On the next day the Description and price tag are updated successfully, but the build version number and screens shots are still from the previous version. And the amazing thing we noticed is that application status is "Waiting for Review" from last 2 days... :( I tried to play with release date, but still application status is "Waiting for Review". Its been 2 days that there is no activity happening from apple... :( Please help me in this scenario..... Thanks in advance. Regards, Vishal.

• portlet-mvc 3.0 + maven for websphere portlet: examples?

  I'm trying to develop a websphere portal portlet using java, maven and spring-portlet-mvc 3.0.2.RELEASE but so far I'm not having a lot of luck. The problem that I'm having is that a lot of the tutorials are either outdated, incorrect, contradict eachother or a combination of all the above. Also I have to use RAD but the tutorials also contradict eachother, logically I'd think you'd choose new portlet project, but http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/websphere/library/techarticles/0802_patil-pt1/0802_patil-pt1.html says to use a dynamic webproject. So I was wondering if anyone had a nice example/good tutorial.

  How can I systematically determine which jars I'll need, and thus should include in my pom.xml file (I'm using maven as my project management tool)? When learning spring, to keep things simple, added all the jars (even the ones I never used) to the classpath. Right now for the most part, I'm guessing which jars to include. For example, I know in my spring configuration file, I have: <tx:annotation-driven /> <context:annotation-config /> <aop:aspectj-autoproxy /> So, I guess I'll need: spring-context-x.x.x.jar, spring-tx-x.x.x.jar, spring-aop-x.x.x.jar Thanks.

• NDjango throws TypeLoadException

  Hi All, I'm just trying to get started with NDjango but am having issues running a basic test app. When running the page in either debug or release the following exception is thrown: Could not load type 'Microsoft.FSharp.Core.CompilerMessageAttribute' from assembly 'FSharp.Core, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'. This is thrown when the NDjangoHandle is created in the HttpApplication ctor. The fsharp assemblies are definitely all there in the gac (and they seem to be distributed with NDjango too) so I'm a bit confused about this one. Googling this turns up zip. I'm using NDjango 0.9.7.0 for .NET 4.0 in vis studio 2010 Cheers

  I'm using the following code and I'm getting an EXC_BAD_ACCESS when trying to get the count of objects - anyone have any idea why? Oddly enough, the error only happens if the count should be one or greater, if there are no objects it seems to work fine (it outputs null).   Hi! Does anyone has some example about accessing Active Directory, LDAP querying using WMI (System.Management namespace) and not System.DirectoryServices namespace. Here on MSDN page it is described a little using CIM classes http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa392320(v=VS.85).aspx But I cant find some C# example realizing it. • Compiling GData for iPhone

  Hi, I'm trying to compile a project that uses the GData objective-c framework. I've successfully compiled and run the project under the 'Debug' configuration, but when I try to compile using 'Release' and now 'Adhoc' I get the following errors. • Programmatically Centering UIViews

  I've seen a bunch of similar questions to this, but nothing seems to be completely what I'm looking for. Do forgive me if I have missed the solution answered in another question, though! Right. I have a view. 160 pixels both tall and wide. I know that this view is going to be used as a subview, and I know that it always needs to be centered about both axis in whatever situation it's used. If defining the view programmatically, how can I be sure that it is always perfectly centered, horizontally and vertically, relative to its superview? • Getting weird python error when I run a simple django script in Eclipse, not happening in console

  I am running a basic script that sets up the django environment by itself, to enable me to test the ORM features of django without having to implement web pages. The script then imports one of the types defined in my models. This error doesn't happen when I run this script from iPython, only from eclipse. • To store images from UIGetScreenImage() in NSMutable Array

  Hi, I'm getting images from UIGetScreenImage() and storing directly in mutable array like:- image = [UIImage imageWithScreenContents]; [array addObject:image]; [image release]; I've set this code in timer so I cant use UIImagePNGRepresentation() to store as NSData as it reduces the performance. I want to use this array directly after sometime i.e after capturing 1000 images in 100 seconds. When I use the code below:- UIImage *im = [[UIImage alloc] init]; im = [array objectAtIndex:i]; UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum(im, nil, nil, nil); the application crashes. And I dont want to use UIImagePNG or JPGRepresentation() in timer as it reduces performance. My problem is how to use this array so that it is converted into image. • Using transactions with ADO.NET Data Adapters.

  Scenario: I want to let multiple (2 to 20, probably) server applications use a single database using ADO.NET. I want individual applications to be able to take ownership of sets of records in the database, hold them in memory (for speed) in DataSets, respond to client requests on the data, perform updates, and prevent other applications from updating those records until ownership has been relinquished. I'm new to ADO.NET, but it seems like this should be possible using transactions with Data Adapters (ADO.NET disconnected layer). Question part 1: Is that the right way to try and do this? Question part 2: If that is the right way, can anyone point me at any tutorials or examples of this kind of approach (in C#)? Question part 3: If I want to be able to take ownership of individual records and release them independently, am I going to need a separate transaction for each record, and by extension a separate DataAdapter and DataSet to hold each record, or is there a better way to do that? Each application will likely hold ownership of thousands of records simultaneously.

• Monitoring process-level performance counters in Windows Perfmon

  I am sure everybody has bumped into this. As you scale a web server that uses multiple application pools, it's valuable to collect performance counters for each application pool 24x7. The only problem is - Perfmon links counters to application pools by process ID, so whenever an application pool recycles you have to remove the counters for the old process ID and add them for the new process ID. Since application pools recycle quite often (whenever you release a new version or patch the server), it's a major pain. I wonder if anybody has found a workaround for this? Perhaps a programmatic way to update Perfmon settings whenever an application pool starts up or some way to reference application pools by name instead of process ID? I'll appreciate any hints on this!

• Push notification not working for the production environment

  I have spent a whole day on this already but still didn't go anywhere. When I run my app in the development mode, I can get the push messages I send to myself thru PushMeBaby without a problem. However, when I try to test it in the production environment, I cannot get any push. I re-generated all the certificates and provisioning profiles, used the aps_production_identity.cer as the certificate for push, changed the ssl to gateway.push.apple.com, and did a release build for the app, but still couldn't get it to work. I found that in PushMeBaby, the line result = SSLHandshake(context); returns error -9844. Does it mean that something is wrong with the aps_production_identity.cer file? This is driving me nuts, can somebody offer a little help? Much appreciated!!!

  My main controller is a subclass of UITableViewController with a UIToolBar at the bottom and when a row is selected, I'd like to display another view without the toolbar. How can I hide the UIToolBar in the child view? Right now, it's present throughout all child views unless they're created as modal. • TeamCity for continuous integration with Visual Studio 2010 solutions/projects

  I am running TeamCity build 5.1.1 on a virtual machine that also hosts our SVN environment. A team I support has recently made the move from Visual Studio 2008/Silverlight 3.0 to Visual Studio 2010/Silverlight 4.0 and when investigating how to do continuous integration with Visual Studio 2010 solutions/projects, it is not as cut and dried as it appeared to be in Visual Studio 2008. Previously I was using Web Deployment Projects and targeting different Release Configurations in TeamCity, which would use the Web Deployment Project to package/deploy the code to our various environments. However when checking out the new Publish ability in Visual Studio 2010 I cannot find a way to specify which location to deploy to. Does everything need to be done in MSBuild now (in the solution file or maybe the Web project file?). If anyone has any examples of how they've done Continuous Integration using TeamCity and Visual Studio 2010, it would be greatly appreciated as I am coming up blank at the moment.
