  • De-duplicate Firefox bookmarks

    What methods exist to de-duplicate Firefox bookmarks. As I search Google I find that there previously was a plugin called CheckPlaces, but that no longer seems to exist. Another popular suggestion seems to be AM-DeadLink, which I tried, but it completely trashed my bookmarks. (Fortunately I had a backup first, and yes I had closed Firefox first as instructed). I was trying to move all my youtube.com bookmarks into a folder. I tried doing a search, and then dragging the bookmarks into the folder. Apparently this creates a copy, instead of moving them as I expected. So now I have 3 of everything since I had tried a couple times.

  • who deleted my files?

    I have some linux servers. On two of our server we have MySQL. We have daily backup on both machine. But the scripts are different. I saw both scripts. On one of them I saw the "delete older files" algorithm, but in the other this is happening but not from the script. I am trying to discover who deletes my files, because of that I want to use same script on both machine because of that in the script with the deletion I also copy the files to the another server, and I want to do that in both servers. Who have an idea who deleted my older backups? Thank you!

    I've used the SQL Profiler to generate a trace file, and tuning advisor to take that trace file and provide some recommendations on db updates. However, the SQL Profiler doesn't seem to track the queries when running against a Reporting Server, the profiler doesn't seem to be capturing any of the queries. I'm logging the defaults (SQL:BatchCompleted and Starting, RPC:completed, and Sessions - Existing Connections) What events should I be capturing in SQL Profiler in order to run the tuning advisor?

  • Dynamic swappable Data Access Layer

    I'm writing a data driven WPF client. The client will typically pull data from a WCF service, which queries a SQL db, but I'd like the option to pull the data directly from SQL or other arbitrary data sources. I've come up with this design and would like to hear your opinion on whether it is the best design. First, we have some data object we'd like to extract from SQL. // The Data Object with a single property public class Customer { private string m_Name = string.Empty; public string Name { get { return m_Name; } set { m_Name = value;} } } Then I plan on using an interface which all data access layers should implement. Suppose one could also use an abstract class. Thoughts? // The interface with a single method interface ICustomerFacade { List<Customer> GetAll(); } One can create a SQL implementation. // Sql Implementation public class SqlCustomrFacade : ICustomerFacade { public List<Customer> GetAll() { // Query SQL db and return something useful // ... return new List<Customer>(); } } We can also create a WCF implementation. The problem with WCF is is that it doesn't use the same data object. It creates its own local version, so we would have to copy the details over somehow. I suppose one could use reflection to copy the values of similar fields across.   • jquery document height reported incorrectly by IE (on XP) first time

    I'm having a "first time" problem with IE, which reports a different value for $(document).height(); when the page first loads versus subsequent queries. The difference is 17 pixels regardless of the opening size of the window -- on document ready, the height reported is 17 pixels larger than is subsequently reported. I wonder if this is an artifact of some aspect of my page (some margins or paddings somewhere), but so far can't account for 17 pixels.

  • How do I Reload Ajax Call Parameters without Reloading the webpage

    I'm working with Extjs 2.2.1 with Alfresco 3.2 enterprise. I would like to update the ticket that handles authentication to the alfresco server on components that have been loaded during login. This ticket expires after a set time and this is why I will need to update the ticket. Options that do not seem viable for me(but please let me know if I'm wrong): Reload the components to reload the call parameters - I can't do this because it resets whatever the user was previously working on (ie. Tree panel gets reloaded, grid filters reset, etc). The actual webpage never reloads as everything uses ajax calls to update things on the page. Create a global variable that stores the ticket and attach it as a call parameter with any ajax calls - Any components that were loaded during login will still use the original ticket to make calls to the server.

  • Dell Inspiron 530 - SSD Worth it?

    I'm going to be upgrading my Dell Inspiron 530 (2.0 Ghz Intel Dual Core CPU, 3 GB RAM) to windows 7 soon, and rather than backup and reformat my existing drive, I'm planning on getting a 2nd drive to replace my current primary, and moving it to a secondary. Thus, this seems like an excellent time to get a solid-state drive, if its going to be worth it. As far as I can tell this machine has a SATA-I controller, and I'm unsure if I'll see a noticeable performance increase with an SSD without going to SATA-II. So I have a three part question here given all that: Will spending the money on a SSD be worth it if hook it into a SATA-I controller? Is it reasonable to upgrade the controller on this machine to a SATA-II controller? Given that this PC is kind of old to begin with, am I better off performance wise to just stick with a faster HDD?

    Hi All, How can we set permissions for users to only allow them to download SSIS packages from the production server and but deny them permissions to run any package in the Server. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms141053(SQL.90).aspx If i assign users to any of the DB roles db_dtsadmin, db_dtsltduser, and db_dtsoperator they will automatically have permission to run the package.   • CF Client Variables: is the CDATA - CGLOBAL relationship always 1:1?

    Hi We've noticed something odd with our Coldfusion 8 client variables DB. We have many more (about 3 times as many) CGlobal entries as we have CData entries. I would have assumed that the relationship would be 1:1 on the cfid column. Has any one else noticed this before? I have ruled out old data, my sample is less than 3 hours old. If I do 3 pages load, the rendering times in milliseconds can look like this : page 1 : 735, 2672, 734 page 2 : 3063, 1516, 3375 page 3 : 8281, 2531, 3703 Why is that? How can I have more consistency?

  • Windows backups to VM Esxi

    I'm very new to ESXi, so apologies if this is a silly question. I have ESXi 5.1 running running on HP Proliant Microserver with internal LUNs RAIDed with HP P410 Smart Array card. I have 2 Windows Server 2012 VMs running as Domain controllers. These are being backed-up up with GhettoVCB to a dedicated datastore hosted on LUNs on a eSata external device. I have several Windows 8 & 7 PC's connected to this domain. I want to back up these Windows PCs, via the built in backup software, ideally to the external eSata device as well. What do I need to do to have the Windows PC's see the datastore? I assume I could create a VM for FreeNas or something, or share out the datastore via one of the Windows Server 2012 VMs. Both those options seem a little bit of an over kill?

  • Large transactions causing "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired" error?

    My application requires a user to log in and allows them to edit a list of things. However, it seems that if the same user always logs in and out and edits the list, this user will run into a "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired." error. I've read comments about increasing the timeout period but I've also read a comment about it possibly caused by uncommitted transactions. And I do have one going in the application. I'll provide the code I'm working with and there is an IF statement in there that I was a little iffy about but it seemed like a reasonable thing to do. I'll just go over what's going on here, there is a list of objects to update or add into the database. New objects created in the application are given an ID of 0 while existing objects have their own ID's generated from the DB. If the user chooses to delete some objects, their IDs are stored in a separate list of Integers. Once the user is ready to save their changes, the two lists are passed into this method. By use of the IF statement, objects with ID of 0 are added (using the Add stored procedure) and those objects with non-zero IDs are updated (using the Update stored procedure). After all this, a FOR loop goes through all the integers in the "removal" list and uses the Delete stored procedure to remove them. A transaction is used for all this.
