• Office 365 E3 with Exchange Hosted Encryption (EHE)

  I hope this is the right forum for posting this question. I have a client who wants to move to Office 365. They are currently running on a trial of Office 365 E3 plan. My staff are now also using Office 365 E3 via the internal use licences provided as part of the MS Cloud Partner benefits. We've search high and low, spoken to about 15 different people at Office 365 Support, as well as my local distributor's MS Product Manager, but we cannot seem to find out exactly how to purchase/subscribe to the Exchange Hosted Encryption (EHE) service, or how to configure/use it from Office 365. Does anybody out there have any insight into how we can setup and use the EHE service? Thanks! Stephen

• CentOS default installation gave 60% disk space to tmpfs partition

  I installed a CentOS server which will be used for xen hypervisor. The server has two Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5620 and 148G memory. The OS was installed on a 120G SSD drive. After the installation, I found that the tmpfs partition occupied about 60% of the drive. Even though I don't need much space for the OS, will there be any problem with 71G tmp partition?   I have one PC running iTunes, my iPhone, and one iPod for each of three kids. Ideally I would like the iPhone to use my iCloud account and each iPod to use an iCloud account specific to each kid. According to Apple: You can ... use one Apple ID for iCloud services and another Apple ID for store purchases However, the method described Enter the Apple ID you want to use for iCloud in Control Panel Network and Internet iCloud. Enter the Apple ID you want to use for Store purchases (including iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match) in iTunes iTunes Store. would require that all iOS devices share the same iCloud account if they use iTunes on the same PC. Short of having one PC per family member, is there a method to use different iCloud accounts on each iOS device?

• Meraki's Accounting-Requests to RADIUS server

  I'm running a RADIUS server with some Meraki APs, the process of Authentications is fine... But it seems that the Meraki Cloud Controller is just sending the authentication packets and not the accounting requests. I've tested the RADIUS sending accounting requests with the radclient tool (locally) and it worked. I think that maybe my RADIUS server is ignoring the accounting requests from the MCC because there are some Vendor Specific Attributes that my RADIUS doesn't know. should I add a Meraki's dictionary to my RADIUS configurations? I'm kind of desperate, any idea?

• One-Way Backup Service? [closed]

  Up until a month ago, my girlfriend has used MobileMe to backup all the files on her MacBook. This turned out terribly when a quirk of MobileMe caused it to erase all of her files on MobileMe, and then sync the newly-erased MobileMe down to her computer, erasing everything. A week's worth of college essays and CS homework were gone. Now, I am terrified of any commercial cloud-backup solutions because of the possibility of this happening. Going off the list provided in these answers, could you please help me find a good backup service that is completely one-way? I want a service where there is literally not a single line of code that has the possibility of writing to my computer's drive. I want a pure one-way backup service.

• Sql Server string to date conversion

  I want to convert a string like this: '10/15/2008 10:06:32 PM' into the equivalent DATETIME value in Sql Server. In Oracle, I would say this: TO_DATE('10/15/2008 10:06:32 PM','MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM') This question implies that I must parse the string into one of the standard formats, and then convert using one of those codes. That seems ludicrous for such a mundane operation. Is there an easier way?

• Options for PCI-DSS on AWS - file integrity monitoring and intrusion detection

  I need to deploy some file integrity monitoring and intrusion detections software on AWS instances. I really wanted to use OSSEC, however it does not work well in an environment where servers can auto deploy and shut down based on load, because it requires server managed keys to be generated. Including the agent in the AMI will not allow monitoring as soon as it comes up because of that. There are many options out there, and several are listed in other posts on this site, however none that I've seen so far deal with the unique problems inherent in AWS or cloud based deployments in general. Can anyone point me at some products, preferably open source, that we might use to cover those portions of PCI DSS that require this software? Has anyone else achieved this on AWS?

My plan at this time is to simply rebuild the Active Directory server in AWS from scratch - which is quite time consuming indeed!   Hi We need to set up a website which makes two or three large files publicly available - the files will be 1 or 2 terrabytes each. Although they will be public, in practise I expect only a relatively small number of scientists will want to download them. What is the best way to allow this? I've had a quick talk to a web-hosting provider (rackspace) and they suggested a hybrid solution. An entry-level managed server (we predict fairly low traffic for the website, but we do need to install some custom CGI software). Some cloud storage which hooks into Limelight Networks. This would host the large files, for download by FTP. It sounded OK to me but I know relatively little about server administration. Does it make sense? Thanks in advance, Mark

  In one of my Application and DB Server , SSIS package runs at night. Every morning i need to reset IIS to work the Application Fast and smoothly. One day i tried to SKIP the SSIS Package and next day i hvnt Done the IIS reset. What could be the problem. Is there any alternate Solution for IIS reset. • Ubuntu 12.04 VPS doesn't boot with mysql in nsswitch.conf

  1and1 VPS ("dynamic cloud server") does not boot any more as soon as mysql lookup is enabled in nsswitch.conf - any suggestions appreciated. Minimal setup to reproduce the problem: install Ubuntu 12.04 / LTS minimal server image install mysql-server, libnss-mysql-bg, nscd configure /etc/libnss-mysql.cfg and /etc/libnss-mysql-root.cfg set up appropriate database tables configure nss lookups through mysql in nsswitch.conf passwd: compat mysql group: compat mysql shadow: compat mysql Now, when I try to reboot the server it just hangs. No logs (maybe due to /var not yet being mounted), and I can't see console output (since this is a VPS). Booting into recovery image and removing "mysql" from /etc/nsswitch.conf makes the system bootable again, so this is definitely related to nsswitch/libnss-mysql-bg. There's a thread on gentoo-users which seems to describe a similar problem, unfortunately there's no real solution described, also the thread is rather old (from 2006) so I'm not sure whether this applies to me at all.

• Do you know of an online back up & sync solution for Windows that actually works?

  I've been looking for some time for a program that backups your data to the cloud and is also able to sync 2 or more computers. By syncing I mean, if I change something on one computer that it should also apply the same change on another computer. I've tried two solutions so far which looked good initially but ultimately failed because they were buggy or simply don't work, or both. Syncplicity has messed up my file structure several times and they don't fix fix bugs that are literally over a year old. I then switched to SpiderOak which looked promising but ultimately had the same problems. Messed up my file structure several times, sometimes sync simply doesn't work, it's extremely inefficient and they keep pushing out releases were they say they fixed the sync bugs I reported but they did't. Does anyone of you know of an online sync solution that actually works?

  I have an instance of an application running in the cloud on Amazon EC2 instance, and I need to connect it from my local Ubuntu. It works fine on one of local ubuntu and also laptop. I got message "Permission denied (publickey)" when trying to access SSH to EC2 on another local Ubuntu. It's so strange to me. I'm thinking some sort of problems with security settings on the Amazon EC2 which has limited IPs access to one instance or certificate may need to regenerate. Does anyone know a solution?

• SMTP IP - Bad reputation, how do I work around?

  I recently had a spamming incident and got listed on a blacklist. I have rectified the issue, removed from the blacklist, but my IP reputation is now classified as a high volume sender. What is the best way to rectify this? I have an additional IP address. I am thinking configure my server to make outbound SMTP connections using the other IP. My questions are: How long does it take for my reputation to stabilize again? How do I configure my server/mailserver to use a specified outbound IP? • Blender Render Cycles

  I get a very poor Render in cycles. Not just minor problems, but just a cloud of of black and white dots and no contour at all. I read a lot about this now and couldn't get it to work. Does anybody know how to get the settings right. Or better what do I have to pay attention to get better renders. I also tried external renderer like Lux, which increased my CPU usage to 98 % (just the default cube and clicking on Lux and load materials). Is this normal and what could i do to improve that. I have various versions of Blender (2.61,2.62,2.63) on Mac OS X. Thanks for the time.

• Convert VM running on Linux hypervisor to OVF/VMDK

  Hi, I have a bunch of VMs on a Linux hypervisor (cloudsigma.com to be precised). I want to convert these to deploy to an ESX hypervisor (opsource cloud server), but need to create an ovf with the vmdk. I don't have access to the hypervisor of either service but opsource allow me to import ovf/vmdk so this is possible. What tool can create an ovf (With vmdk) of a Windows OS? I am not sure if VCenter Converter would work as it requires access to the hypervisor, if I remember correctly. I am hoping for something like vhd2disk which will create a .vhd of the currently running, parent Windows OS on a system. Thanks

• Determine Server specs for a Rails with MySQL database (on AWS)

  I developed a intranet applications with Rails (3.2) for one of my customers. There will be around 30-40 employees working with it. Backend is MySQL (5). What would be the best way to determine the servers specs needed? Given: max. load will be roughly 2400 (40*60) HTTP requests (mixed GET / POST) per hour. 15% of these calls are JSON calls (iOS) avg request will make between 5-10 database calls 500-800 SQL INSERTS per day webpages are fairly simple (no images, just text) avg webpage is 15 request (css/js/etc) and total size is 35-45 KB More specific, since they need access from multiple geographical locations, we are thinking of running a bitnami Ruby stack in the AWS cloud (uptime is important). Any thoughts on a AWS Instance (small/medium) and Utilization (light/medium/heavy) ? Thanks!

  Hello! Sometimes I want to watch a movie with friends... them not always being near me makes it hard to do this. Usually everyone will either rent the dvd or get a copy online mostly as .avi files. Usually we all have chat windows open and when one has to pause to get a drink or because of some other reason it is VERY hard to resync. Is there software to handle this?
