  I'm doing some maintenance on an older web application written in Monorail v1.0.3. I want to unit test an action that uses RenderText(). How do I extract the content in my test? Reading from controller.Response.OutputStream doesn't work, since the response stream is either not setup properly in PrepareController(), or is closed in RenderText(). • Creating Drill-Down Detail UITableView from JSON NSDictionary

  I'm have a load of trouble finding out how to do this, I want to show this in a UITableDetailView (Drill-Down style) with each item in a different cell. All of the things I've read all show how to load a single image on the detail instead of showing as a UITableView. Does the dictionary have to have "children" in order to load correctly? Here is the code for the first view creating *dict from the JSON rowsArray. I guess what I'm looking for is what to put in the FollowingDetailViewController.m to see the rest of *dict contents, so when selecting a row, it loads the rest of the *dict. I have rowsArray coming back as follows: '{ loginName = Johnson; memberid = 39; name = Kris; age = ;}, etc,etc...   My knowledge of Lambda expressions is a bit shaky, while I can write code that uses Lambda expressions (aka LINQ), I'm trying to write my own method that takes a few arguments that are of type Lambda Expression. Background: I'm trying to write a method that returns a Tree Collection of objects of type TreeItem from literally ANY other object type. I have the following so far: public class TreeItem { public string Id { get; set; } public string Text { get; set; } public TreeItem Parent { get; protected set; } public IList<TreeItem> Children { get { // Implementation that returns custom TreeItemCollection type } } public static IList<TreeItem> GetTreeFromObject<T>(IList<T> items, Expression<Func<T, string>> id, Expression<Func<T, string>> text, Expression<Func<T, IList<T>>> childProperty) where T : class { foreach (T item in items) { // Errrm!?? What do I do now? } return null; } } ...which can be called via... IList<TreeItem> treeItems = TreeItem.GetTreeFromObject<Category>( categories, c => c.Id, c => c.Name, c => c.ChildCategories); I could replace the Expressions with string values, and just use reflection, but I'm trying to avoid this as I want to make it strongly typed. My reasons for doing this is that I have a control that accepts a List of type TreeItem, whereas I have dozens of different types that are all in a tree like structure, and don't want to write seperate conversion methods for each type (trying to adhere to the DRY principle). Am I going about this the right way? Is there a better way of doing this perhaps?

I bypass the the invalid cert by using my all certificate and then bypass the invalid Hostname by using hostnameverifier. • Logic inside an enum

  My colleagues and I were having a discussion regarding logic in enums. My personal preference is to not have any sort of logic in Java enums (although Java provides the ability to do that). The discussion in this cased centered around having a convenience method inside the enum that returned a map: public enum PackageTypes { Letter("01", "Letter"), .. .. Tube("02", "Packaging Tube"); private String packageCode; private String packageDescription; .. .. public static Map<String, String> toMap() { Map<String, String> map = new LinkedHashMap<String, String>(); for(PackageType packageType : PackageType.values()) { map.put(packageType.getPackageCode(), packageType.getPackageDescription()); } return map; } } My personal preference is to pull this out into a service. The argument for having the method inside the enum centered around convenience. The idea was that you don't have to go to a service to get it, but can query the enum directly. My argument centered around separation of concern and abstracting any kind of logic out to a service. I didn't think "convenience" was a strong argument to put this method inside an enum. From a best-practices perspective, which one is better? Or does it simply come down to a matter of personal preference and code style?

• Why a Swing app stops my Java servlet ?

  I have a Swing runnable app which updates messages, then I have a Java servlet that gets messages from Paypal IPN (Instant Payment Notification), when the servlet starts up, in the init(), I starts the Swing runnable app which opens a desktop window, but 30 minutes later an error in the Swing caused the servlet to stop, how can that happen ?   Using SQL Server 2008, Visual Studio 2005, .net 2.0 with SP2 (has support for new SQL Server 2008 data types). I want these SqlDateTimes to map to SQL Server's DateTime2, so I try to run this T-SQL : CREATE function hubg.f_UTCToLocalDT ( @dt DATETIME2 ) returns DATETIME2 AS EXTERNAL NAME [SQLCLR].[MyCompany.SQLCLR.DateTimeHelpCLR].UTCToLocalDT GO This gives the following error : Msg 6551, Level 16, State 2, Procedure f_UTCToLocalDT, Line 1 CREATE FUNCTION for "f_UTCToLocalDT" failed because T-SQL and CLR types for return value do not match. Using DATETIME (instead of DATETIME2) works fine. But I'd rather use DATETIME2 to support the increased precision. What am I doing something wrong, or is DateTime2 not (fully) supported by SQLCLR ?

  Hello, I am trying to add a new contact to my contact list using the new ContactContract API via my application. There is also no contact with that information on my phone already. Does anyone have any insight into what I might be doing wrong?

• Cisco SR520w FE - WAN Port Stops Working

  I have setup a Cisco SR520W and everything appears to be working. After about 1-2 days, it looks like the WAN port stops forwarding traffic to the Internet gateway IP of the device. If I unplug and then plug in the network cable connecting the WAN port of the SR520W to my Comcast Cable Modem, traffic startings flowing again. Also, if I restart the SR520W, the traffic will flow again. Any ideas? • Reset or clear the UIView from UILabels

  Hello, I have created an UIView on which I have a number of labels and I'm also drawing some lines in the same UIView. Sometimes I update the lines that I'm drawing. Now, the problem I am having is that when I update the lines, they get drawn according to my wish. But the labels are overwriting themselves. This shouldn't have been a problem if it wasn't for that the position is changed about 1 pixel and that makes the text go blurry. I don't know how to remove the labels before they are redrawn. I do remove the labels from the superview and add them back when drawRect is called, but the SetNeedDisplay doesn't clear the screen before the graphic is updated, I guess (I think I read that SetNeedsDisplay/drawRect doesn't clear the screen, just updating the content. Couldn't find the text now while searching)? What is the pattern to use here, should I create a retangle with the size of the screen (or the area where the labels are) and fill it with the background colour, or is there any other way to clear or reset the UIView (I don't want to release and create the UIView again). The view is created in IB and associated with a custom UIView. In IB I add some buttons and other static labels. The above labels and graphics is created programatically.   I'm trying to access an EJB3 from a JEE client-application, but keep getting nothing but lookup failures. My JEE Application 'CoreServer' is exposing a number of beans with remote interfaces. I have no problem accessing them from a Web Application deployed on the same Glassfish v3.0.1. • File Translator to Export Animated 3D Character from Autodesk Maya as Quake MD2

  I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to export geometry/textures for a rigged, animated character as Quake MD2? I’m developing an app for mobile devices, and I’ve found that MD2 works great for lightweight OpenGL rendering. I have several animated characters, and I’d like to export them as MD2 from Maya. Here are some of the things I have tried: Exporting FBX to 3D Studio Max and using the QTip plugin -- this works, but only if I convert my animation to point cache (pc2) and bring that into Max. When I do that, QTip plugin doesn’t honor the point cache node, and all I get is the model, no animation Exporting OBJ Sequence to Blender, exporting MD2 from there -- I can’t seem to get blender to compile the imported obj sequence into a single animated object Exporting FBX to Milkshape -- the maya rig gets corrupted in the process Bake point cache for animation, export to FBX, import to Milkshape -- again, Milkshape doesn’t honor the geometry cache, so all that appears is a static character. I’m currently writing a plugin for Maya using the blender MD2 export script as reference (but re-writing using the C++ Maya API), but I’m just wondering if anyone has done this before or has any suggestions of how to do this. Also, if anyone has other suggestions for the best format to render a single animated character on an OpenGL ES (Android or iPhone) device, I would be very grateful! Previously, I used AutoPostback and SelectedIndexChanged of the DDL to filter the grid, but to my disappointment it was not always fired. I don't know if this is ok on this late stage.. don't have a lot of asp.net experience after all. If anyone can suggest a better solution, please give me a hint. This all works great so far, except when i have two or more filters and set them to a combination that returns zero records. Bam ... gridview gone, completely - without a possiblity of changing the filters back. So i googled and found out that i have to subclass gridview in order to always show the headerrow. I found this solution and implemented it with some modifications. The headerrow get's displayed and i can change the filters even if the returned result contains no rows. But finally to my current problem: When i have two or more filters set which return zero rows, and i change back one filter to something that should return rows, the gridview remains empty (although the pager is rendered). I have to completly refresh the page to reset the filters. When debugging, i can see in the overridden CreateChildControls of the grid, that the base method indeed returns 0, but anyway... the gridView.RowCount remains 0 after databinding. Anyone have an idea what's going wrong here?

  Hi there! I've been trying to retrive attachment from message in Exchange server using WebDAV.I don't know which version of Exchange the company is running. I'can successfully read messages and retrive list of attachments. However I am failing to save attachments. In both cases errors is: "The remote server returned an error: <403 Forbidden. • Opening a LWJGL window from a SWT app on Mac

  I have a SWT app that opens a OpenGL window (using the LWJGL library) after a button is pressed. Works fine on Windows. It looks like the SWT app doesn't shut down cleanly and leaves it's menu entries associated with it, which prevents the LWJGL window from opening. Mac OS X only wants one application menu. SWT doesn't free it's own menu and LWJGL wants to add another. Facts: A button in the SWT dialog is supposed to close the dialog and open a LWJGL window (org.lwjgl.opengl.Display). The button sets a static variable in the app to tell it what to do next after the SWT window is closed, so the LWJGL window is NOT being opened from a SWT callback directly. The button then closes the SWT window. I don't know the correct way of doing this but tried various combinations of shell.close, shell.dispose, display.close and display.dispose, none of them worked. They all close the window but the error occurs every time. Does anyone know what could be done to make this work?

• Creating an Ajax.ActionLink that avoids all caching issues

  I am using an Ajax.ActionLink to display a partial view that shows a settings dialog (the modality of which is arranged using jQuery UI dialog). The issue I am running into is around browser caching. It is important that the user is never shown a cached settings dialog. In an attempt to achieve this I have written the following extension method that has the same method signature as the ActionLink method overload that I am using. /// <summary> /// Defines an AJAX ActionLink that effectively bypasses browser caching issues /// by adding an additional route value that contains a unique (actually DateTime.Now.Ticks) value. /// </summary> public static MvcHtmlString NonCachingActionLink(this AjaxHelper helper, string linkText, string actionName, string controllerName, System.Web.Routing.RouteValueDictionary routeValues, AjaxOptions ajaxOptions) { routeValues.Add("rnd", DateTime.Now.Ticks); return helper.ActionLink(linkText, actionName, controllerName, routeValues, ajaxOptions); } This works well between browser sessions (as the rnd route value gets re-calculated on page load), but not if the user is on the page, makes settings changes, saves them (which is done with another ajax call) and then re-displays the settings dialog. My next step is to look into creating my own ActionLink equivalent that re-calculates a random query string component as part of the onclick JavaScript event handler. Thoughts please.
