  • Completely bizarre Firefox CSS bug

    I've been doing front end development for a long time, and I have NEVER come across a bug like this before... Save the following HTML to a file and view it in Firefox (mine is 3.6.3): <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <style type="text/css"> body { font-family: Helvetica, Sans-Serif;} h2 {font-weight: normal;} </style> </head> <body> <h2>Some normal text <strong>some bold text</strong> weird huh?</h2> </body> </html> If you don't want to give it a shot the output is like your cat walked across your keyboard while character map was turned on, except in the strong tags. I feel like this may be a font issue? When I get rid of font-weight: normal it goes back to normal, but I don't want everything to be bolded in my h2... Anyone have any ideas? More importantly, is anyone able to reproduce this?? Thanks.

  • RSS feed generated by SharePoint has a stylesheet tag and how to remove that

    The feed which SharePoint Generates is here (I copied it to pastie because I thought it would be clear there) However, the xml file comes with a style sheet tag. How do I remove that? Does SharePoint always generate that? Due to the presence of that tag, I am unable to apply another style sheet of my own using the XML WebPart. EDIT: I don't think the issue is related to the style sheet. If I copy the xml and paste it in the "Xml Editor" of the Web Part everything works just fine. If I provide the URL, that is when I do not see any data.   • categorize a set of phrases into a set of similar phrases

    I have a few apps that generate textual tracing information (logs) to log files. The tracing information is the typical printf() style - i.e. there are a lot of log entries that are similar (same format argument to printf), but differ where the format string had parameters. What would be an algorithm (url, books, articles, ...) that will allow me to analyze the log entries and categorize them into several bins/containers, where each bin has one associated format? Essentially, what I would like is to transform the raw log entries into (formatA, arg0 ... argN) instances, where formatA is shared among many log entries. The formatA does not have to be the exact format used to generate the entry (even more so if this makes the algo simpler). Most of the literature and web-info I found deals with exact matching, a max substring matching, or a k-difference (with k known/fixed ahead of time). Also, it focuses on matching a pair of (long) strings, or a single bin output (one match among all input). My case is somewhat different, since I have to discover what represents a (good-enough) match (generally a sequence of discontinuous strings), and then categorize each input entries to one of the discovered matches. Lastly, I'm not looking for a perfect algorithm, but something simple/easy to maintain. Thanks!

    While trying out jQuery, I have a question that is probably a newbie mistake, but I cannot seem to find the solution.   • Perl: remove relative path components?

    I need to get Perl to remove relative path components from a Linux path. I've found a couple of functions that almost do what I want, but: File::Spec->rel2abs does too little. It does not resolve ".." into a directory properly. Cwd::realpath does too much. It resolves all symbolic links in the path, which I do not want.   • Using a Javascript Variable & Sending to JSON

    Hello all! I'm trying to take a URL's hash value, send it through a function, turn that value into an object, but ultimately send the value to JSON. I have the following setup: function content(cur){ var mycur = $H(cur); var pars = "p="+mycur.toJSON(); new Ajax.Updater('my_box', 'test.php', { parameters: pars }); } function update(){ if(window.location.hash.length > 0){ content(window.location.hash.substr(1)); // Everything after the '#' } } var curHashVal = window.location.hash; window.onload = function(){ setInterval(function(){ if(curHashVal != window.location.hash){ update(); curHashVal = window.location.hash; } },1); } But for some reason, I can't seem to get the right JSON output. It will either return as a very large object (1:"{",2:"k") or not return at all. I doubt that it is impossible to accomplish, but I've exhausted most of the ways I can think of. Other ways I've tried were "{" + cur + "}" as well as cur.toObject(), however, none seemed to get the job done. Thanks for the help!

  • NSFetchedResultsController is driving me crazy

    Hi everyone. i've been building an app since 1 month using NSFetchedResultsController and i was testing the app on the 3.1.2 SDK. The poblem is that i've been using NSFetchedResultsController everywhere in my app and was working on the 3.1.2 version of the SDK, now my client say that i should make it compatible with the 3.0 version and the deadline is almost there. But is crashing everytime i change an object handled by the contoller, the application is crashing with very weird errors. The problem occure when removing the last object in a section and when a change make an object love to another section. I've been using a sample code from "More iPhone 3 Development Tackling iPhone SDK 3" by Dave Mark and Jeff LaMarche. What does the warning Base directory is a file want me to do instead?! It then figures that the base directory is workspace which then means the working directory is not found...any ideas?   • [Python] name 'OptionGroup' is not defined

    Ok, so I made this rookie mistake below, but in my defense I was led to it thanks to how the help about this subject is on python docs, which states how to use optparse. It is actually an error under the gigantic tutorial section. In contrast and to my offense, I may be one of the very few stupid people who can't read very well and pay close attention on what I do. But since this took me so long to discover, I wanted to "document" it here: Python 2.6.1 (r261:67515, Feb 11 2010, 00:51:29) >>> from optparse import OptionParser >>> outputGroup = OptionGroup(parser, 'Output handling') Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> NameError: name 'OptionGroup' is not defined This is strictly done with examples found on the docs, and you can't find anything about it anywhere, be it that long long docs page, google or stackoverflow. Plus, reading optparse.py shows OptionGroup is there, so that adds to the confusion. I bet it will take less than 1 minute for someone to spot my error. For that I'll only add proper tags and / or modify the title later on. :)

    Lately I bumped repeatedly into the concept of LFSR, that I find quite interesting because of its links with different fields and also fascinating in itself. It took me some effort to understand, the final help was this really good page, much better than the (at first) cryptic wikipedia entry. So I wanted to write some small code for a program that worked like a LFSR. To be more precise, that somehow showed how a LFSR works. Here's the cleanest thing I could come up with after some lenghtier attempts (Python): def lfsr(seed, taps): sr, xor = seed, 0 while 1: for t in taps: xor += int(sr[t-1]) if xor%2 == 0.0: xor = 0 else: xor = 1 print xor sr, xor = str(xor) + sr[:-1], 0 print sr if sr == seed: break lfsr('11001001', (8,7,6,1)) #example I named "xor" the output of the XOR function, not very correct. However, this is just meant to show how it circles through its possible states, in fact you noticed the register is represented by a string. Not much logical coherence.   • Setting minimum size limit for a window in java swing

    I have a JFrame which has 3 JPanels in GridBagLayout.. Now, when I minimize a windows, after a certain limit, the third JPanel tends to disappear. I tried setting minimizing size of JFrame using setMinimumSize(new Dimension(int,int)) but no success. The windows can still be minimized. So, I actually want to make a threshhold, that my window cannot be minimized after a certain limit. How can I do so?     Hi, I'm new to Python and it's OOP stuff and can't get it to work. At the moment I'd like it to output something like [[20,44], 10, 4], but when I tree.appendLeft(tree2) I get RuntimeError: maximum recursion depth exceeded, and when i even won't appendLeft(tree2) it outputs [10, 20, 44, 4] (!!!). What am I missing here? I'm using Portable Python 3.0.1. Thank you

  • Only last row in method execute (Objective-C)

    First I want to apologize for my lack of knowledge in programming in general. I am in the way of learning and have discovered that this site is a huge compliment for me of doing so. I have created a program with three UITextField(thePlace,theVerb,theOutput) and two UITextView where one of the textviews(theOutput) take the text from the other textview(theTemplate) and replaces some strings with the text entered in the textfields. When I click a button it triggers the method createStory that is listed below. This works fine with one exception. The text in the output only changes the string 'number' to the text in the textfield. However if I change the order in the method to replace 'place','number','verb' only the verb is changed, not the number. Im sure this is some sort of easy fix but I can't find it.   • WPF DataBinding to standard CLR properties in code-behind

    Hi everyone, Just learning WPF databinding and have a gap in my understanding. I've seen a few similar questions on StackOverflow, but I'm still struggling in determining what I have done wrong. I have a simple Person class with a Firstname and Surname property (standard CLR properties). I also have a standard CLR property on my Window class that exposes an instance of Person. I've then got some XAML, with two methods of binding. The first works, the second doesn't. Can anybody help me to understand why the second method fails? The string will be given by the user. i want "test123" and "split" as my output. and there can be any number of words i.e "c test123 d split e new" etc. c d e i have already with me. I want just the next word after that word i.e after c i have test123 and after d i have split and after e i have new so i need test123 and split and new. how can I do this??? And one more thing I will pass just c first than d and than e. not together all of them. I tried string strSearchWord="c "; Regex testRegex1 = new Regex(strSearchWord); List lstValues = testRegex1.Split("c test123 d split").ToList(); But it's working only for last character i.e for d it's giving the last word but for c it includes test123 d split. How shall I do this???

Does anyone know how I can have the input tag fall inside the tr tag therefore giving me valid XHTML 1.0 STRICT markup? Thanks

  • How to get DIVs into this code via JQuery

    Heya everyone I been struggling along with this piece of code for the longest time, its driving me insane. I am trying many different things and looking at past posts here but nothing seems to be helping. Basicly i have a jquery pagination code in place and i want to add animated transitions between pages. With some assistance i got that working correctly however this causes the page to jump around as the new items fade in and out. To fix this i need a DIV wrapped around each selection of results. I have been trying to use .wrap .html .wrapinner .append and i cant get any of it to work properly. The 2 areas where i beleive the code needs to be place are as follows: $('#content').children().slice(0, show_per_page).css('display', 'block'); and $('#content').children().fadeOut('slow').slice(start_from, end_on).fadeIn('slow'); Full original code: http://tutsvalley.com/tutorials/making-a-jquery-pagination-system/ Only the second line of code posted here has been altered. Basicly i want to wrap each group of sliced output in a DIV. I hope that makes sense, if you need anymore information please let me know.     Here's a pretty simple idea, in this pastebin I've posted some pair of numbers. These represent Nodes of a directed graph. The input to stdin will be of the form, (they'll be numbers, i'll be using an example here) c d q r a b b c d e p q so x y means x is connected to y (not viceversa) There are 2 paths in that example. a->b->c->d->e and p->q->r. You need to print all the unique paths from that graph The output should be of the format a->b->c->d->e p->q->r Notes You can assume the numbers are chosen such that one path doesn't intersect the other (one node belongs to one path) The pairs are in random order. They are more than 1 paths, they can be of different lengths. All numbers are less than 1000. If you need more details, please leave a comment. I'll amend as required.   • Wordpress display featured posts outside of loop

    Im new to WP and Im not real sure how to work with the loop. Any help would be really appreciated. Oh yeah, I am using a plugin that resizes images on the fly, thats what the the wp_get_post_image/getphpthumburl business is.

    I've written a simple class for debugging and I call the method Debugger.WriteLine(...) in my code like this: Debugger.WriteLine("[Draw]", "InProgress", "[x,y] = " + x.ToString("0.00") + ", " + y.ToString("0.00") + "; pos = " + lastPosX.ToString() + "x" + lastPosY.ToString() + " -> " + posX.ToString() + "x" + posY.ToString() + "; SS = " + squareSize.ToString() + "; MST = " + startTime.ToString("0.000") + "; Time = " + time.ToString() + phase.ToString(".0000") + "; progress = " + progress.ToString("0.000") + "; step = " + step.ToString() + "; TimeMovementEnd = " + UI.MovementEndTime.ToString()); The body of the procedure Debugger.WriteLine is compiled only in Debug mode (directives #if, #endif). What makes me worry is that I often need ToString() in Debugger.WriteLine call which is costly because it creates still new strings (for changing number for example). How to solve this problem? A few points/questions about debugging/tracing: I don't want to wrap every Debugger.WriteLine in an IF statement or to use preprocessor directives in order to leave out debugging methods because it would inevitable lead to a not very readable code and it requires too much typing. I don't want to use any framework for tracing/debugging. I want to try to program it myself. Are Trace methods (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.diagnostics.trace.aspx) left out if compiling in release mode? If it is so is it possible that my methods would behave similarly? http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fht0f5be.aspx output = String.Format("You are now {0} years old.", years); Which seems nice. Is it a solution for my problem with ToString()?
