  • Is there a way using jQuery or Javascript to force a page to open in Firefox?

    - by sadmicrowave
Is there a way using jQuery or Javascript to force a page to open in Firefox? For example, if the user has their default browser set to internet explorer, but they have firefox on their computer - open a new firefox window with the intended page. If so, I would need to check to see if they have firefox on their machine; otherwise, redirect to the mozilla firefox download site... any suggestions?

  • Pass arguments when using the File protocol

    - by Ando
I found this question being asked on several places on the internet (including the File protocol MSDN page) but no clear answer. So, if I am calling my application like this: file://c:\myapp.exe is there any way to pass it some command line arguments, like /nospashscreen=true Things I've tried: file://c:\myapp.exe?/nospashscreen=true - launches the app, but with no command line arguments :( Thanks in advance.

  • Equivalant of this gradient code in ie css filter

    - by Wiika
Hi All, i need an equivalent or an alternative for this code in internet explorer using the filter method background: -moz-linear-gradient(center bottom , rgb(132, 133, 132) 0%, rgb(35, 35, 35) 49%, rgb(104, 104, 104) 100%) repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent; the most important thing in the code is the points ( 0% - 49% - 100% ) i believe that the filter method doesn't have points and doesn't accpect more than two parms for the colors , Is there a way to do it in filter or a javascript script for that ? Thanks.

  • YQL Open Data Table for Wikipedia

    - by Rob Young
Has anyone written a YQL open data table for accessing Wikipedia? I've had a hunt around the internet and found mention of people using YQL for extracting various bits of information from Wikipedia pages such as microformats, links or content but I haven't been able to find an open data table that ties it all together.

  • Cool open source projects

    - by icco
This is a similar question to one posted earlier, but slightly different. I'm interested in what your favorite Open Source app is. I don't care if it's well coded or if it isn't active anymore, I just am interesteed in apps that work and do something useful. The internet is a big place, so with a few suggestions some of us may find a new favorite app.

  • What is the correct verb for what programmers do?

    - by bennybdbc
Sorry if this is a little off-topic, but I never know what word to use when I am searching the internet for articles or tutorials. What I mean is, say I wanted to search for information regarding making a notepad clone, would I search for: "Creating A Notepad Clone" "Building A Notepad Clone" "Making A Notepad Clone" So what I'm asking is basically, is there a definitive term to use, or does it vary depending on the source?

  • Invalid authorization specification error with Classic ASP accessing MSSQL DB

    - by Scott
Hi, I am getting the following error: Invalid authorization specification I've narrowed down the error to my connection string. I have verified the server name, database, user & password are correct. Here is the string: "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Server=xxxxx.db.12345.hostedresource.com;Database=foo;UID=fooUser;PWD=fooPW" The SQL server is hosted on Godaddy so I don't have access to its settings. Please help, I've scoured the internet for a solution!

  • Java: Combination of recursive loops which has different FOR loop inside; Output: FOR loops indexes

    - by vvinjj
currently recursion is fresh & difficult topic for me, however I need to use it in one of my algorithms. Here is the challenge: I need a method where I specify number of recursions (number of nested FOR loops) and number of iterations for each FOR loop. The result should show me, something simmilar to counter, however each column of counter is limited to specific number. ArrayList<Integer> specs= new ArrayList<Integer>(); specs.add(5); //for(int i=0 to 5; i++) specs.add(7); specs.add(9); specs.add(2); specs.add(8); specs.add(9); public void recursion(ArrayList<Integer> specs){ //number of nested loops will be equal to: specs.size(); //each item in specs, specifies the For loop max count e.g: //First outside loop will be: for(int i=0; i< specs.get(0); i++) //Second loop inside will be: for(int i=0; i< specs.get(1); i++) //... } The the results will be similar to outputs of this manual, nested loop: int[] i; i = new int[7]; for( i[6]=0; i[6]<5; i[6]++){ for( i[5]=0; i[5]<7; i[5]++){ for(i[4] =0; i[4]<9; i[4]++){ for(i[3] =0; i[3]<2; i[3]++){ for(i[2] =0; i[2]<8; i[2]++){ for(i[1] =0; i[1]<9; i[1]++){ //... System.out.println(i[1]+" "+i[2]+" "+i[3]+" "+i[4]+" "+i[5]+" "+i[6]); } } } } } } I already, killed 3 days on this, and still no results, was searching it in internet, however the examples are too different. Therefore, posting the programming question in internet first time in my life. Thank you in advance, you are free to change the code efficiency, I just need the same results.

I've already gone thru: http://docs.joomla.org/How_to_add_breadcrumbs and http://api.joomla.org/Joomla-Framework/Application/JPathway.html but they don't help. I have not found any more info in any books or internet. My website download forms has 1000's of pages generated thru script. I want to generate breadcrumb navigation for the pages. Google has refused me Adsense account due to this lack of navigation.

  • Silverlight penetration rate

    - by sthg
Duplicate of: Silverlight Install Base - How big is it? Hi, Anyone knows the penetration rate (in %) for all North-American internet users with the Silverlight plugin installed? Been looking all around, but couldn't find any comprehensive numbers. I'm looking for General Public penetration rates, not only within the dev community. Something close to Adobe's flash version penetration stats would be great.

  • Which accessType should I use when calling InternetOpen?

    - by Colen
According to the MSDN, you can specify an access type parameter to InternetOpen. Two of the options for the dwAccessType parameter are: INTERNET_OPEN_TYPE_DIRECT - Resolves all host names locally. INTERNET_OPEN_TYPE_PRECONFIG - Retrieves the proxy or direct configuration from the registry. Which of these should I use? I don't know which would be "better". We don't want our application to do anything clever, all we want it to do is access the internet in a normal way.

  • Create a timer countdown using hours, minutes & seconds from a future date

    - by Tommy Coffee
I am using some code I found on the internet that creates a countdown from a certain date. I am trying to edit the code so that it only gives me a countdown from an hour, minute, and second that I specify from a future date. I cannot just have code that counts down from a specified time, I need it to countdown to a specified date in the future. This is important so that if the browser is refreshed the countdown doesn't start over but continues where left off. I will be using cookies so the browser remembers what future date was specified when it was first run. Here is the HTML: <form name="count"> <input type="text" size="69" name="count2"> </form> And here is the javascript: window.onload = function() { //change the text below to reflect your own, var montharray=new Array("Jan","Feb","Mar","Apr","May","Jun","Jul","Aug","Sep","Oct","Nov","Dec") function countdown(yr,m,d){ var theyear=yr; var themonth=m; var theday=d var today=new Date() var todayy=today.getYear() if (todayy < 1000) todayy+=1900; var todaym=today.getMonth() var todayd=today.getDate() var todayh=today.getHours() var todaymin=today.getMinutes() var todaysec=today.getSeconds() var todaystring=montharray[todaym]+" "+todayd+", "+todayy+" "+todayh+":"+todaymin+":"+todaysec futurestring=montharray[m-1]+" "+d+", "+yr var dd=Date.parse(futurestring)-Date.parse(todaystring) var dday=Math.floor(dd/(60*60*1000*24)*1) var dhour=Math.floor((dd%(60*60*1000*24))/(60*60*1000)*1) var dmin=Math.floor(((dd%(60*60*1000*24))%(60*60*1000))/(60*1000)*1) var dsec=Math.floor((((dd%(60*60*1000*24))%(60*60*1000))%(60*1000))/1000*1) if(dday==0&&dhour==0&&dmin==0&&dsec==1){ document.forms.count.count2.value=current return } else document.forms.count.count2.value= dhour+":"+dmin+":"+dsec; setTimeout(function() {countdown(theyear,themonth,theday)},1000) } //enter the count down date using the format year/month/day countdown(2012,12,25) } I am sure there is superfluous code above since I only need an hour, minute, and second that I would like to pass to the countdown() function. The year, month and day is unimportant but as I said this is code I am trying to edit which I found on the internet. Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you!

  • Convert HTML to RTF (HTML2RTF converter)

    - by Luca Matteis
I'm looking for a simple HTML2RTF converter that I can use on my website which is using a *nix like Operating System. I haven't found anything on the internet, and was hoping the SO community would help me. PS: I don't want to implement this from scratch, and it doesn't really matter what language it's in, as long as I can run it on a *nix like system. If you guys have already some personalized implementation, the language preferred would be PHP.

  • drawing circle without floating point calculation

    - by zaharpopov
This is common interview question (according to some interview sites) but I can find no normal answers in Internet - some are wrong and some point to complex theory I expect not looked for in interview (like Bressenham algorithm). The question is simple: The circle equation is: x^2 + y^2 = R^2. Given R, draw 0,0-centered circle as best as possible without using any floating point (no trigo, square roots, and so on, only integers)
