• Copy Word format into Outlook message

  Hi, I have an outlook automation. I would like to use a Word document as template for the message content. Lets say i have some formatted text containing tables, colors, sizes, etc. Now I'd like to copy/paste this content into an Outlook message object.I'm used to the interop stuff, i just have no idea how to copy/paste this correctly. • SQL Server find and replace in TEXT field

  I have a database in SQL Server 2005 that was brought up from SQL Server 2000 and is still using TEXT type fields instead of varchar(max). I need to find and replace a string of characters in the text field but all of the examples of how to do this that I have found don't seem like they would work for me. It seems the UPDATETEXT command requires that the two parameters "insert_offset" and "delete_length" be set explicitly but the string i am searching for could show up in the text at any point or even at several points in the same cell. My understanding of these two parameters is that the string im searching for will always be in the same place, so that insert_offset is the number of spaces into the text that the UPDATETEXT command will start replacing text. Example: Need to find: &lt;u&gt; and Replace it with: <u> Text field example: *Everyone in the room was <b>&lt;u&gt;tired&lt;/u&gt;.</b><br>Then they woke <b>&lt;u&gt;up&lt;/u&gt;. • Expandable columns in a datagrid

  Im working on a WPF-applications to present and correct large amounts of data. Im about to implement a datagrid containing data from 3 different sources that are populated from external services. To start with I will only populate the grid with data from one source, the master source. However, sometimes an automated validator will trigger a validation warning or error on one cell and the requirement states that the user should be able to view data from the additional 2 sources in columns next to the selected one. Something like this: Standard view: | col1 src1 | col2 src1 | col3 src1 | | | | | | |faulty | | | | | | User want to show data from source 2 and 3 next to the column "col2 src1" like this: | col1 src1 | col2 src1 | col2 src2 | col2 src3 | col3 src1 | | | | | | | | |corrected | | | | | | | | | | and then be able to correct the faulty formatted cell with data from the other 2 soruces, and then collapse the columns again. I am trying to use the mvvm pattern on this one so I have populated the DataGrid with a ListCollectionView so far. The list contains items with properties like this: MyRowItem {string col1, string col2, string col3} I will then have 2 additional collections with items of type like above but from 2 other sources. I have no idea how to implement this functionality and could use some help on the logics. What approach should I head for?

  First, I've taken the time to review this question which seems to be the most similar, however, the solution that seems to have been selected will not work in my scenario.Not to mention I worry about some of the comments claiming it to be brittle or an inadequate solution. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/104601/asp-net-response-redirect-to-new-window -We have an XML document which basically contains all of the information for a Side menu. -We have numerous URLS which are stored in a constants class. -One of the elements in a string of XML (well call it label) is used to determine if the menu item is created as a LinkButton or a Label. -Links use a custom user control that is used standard for all links across the application (why suggestion on similar thread doesn't work - I don't want all links to open in a new window - just one) -One of the elements in a string of XML (well call it function) is used in a Switch statement to generate our links using Response Redirect. It may look something like this. switch (function) { case goto 1: string url; if (user_group == 1) { url = Constants.CONSTANT1 } else { url = Constants.CONSTANT2 } Response.Redirect(url) case goto 2: ...... default: ...... break; } Given this scenario, I'm trying to find the best way to quickly open a New Window, when a specific case in this switch statement is met. Can it be done with Response Redirect (this seems to be arguable - people say no it can't, yet other people say they have made it work)? If not, what alternative can work here?

• in haskell, why do I need to specify type constraints, why can't the compiler figure them out?

  Consider the function, add a b = a + b This works: *Main> add 1 2 3 However, if I add a type signature specifying that I want to add things of the same type: add :: a -> a -> a add a b = a + b I get an error: test.hs:3:10: Could not deduce (Num a) from the context () arising from a use of `+' at test.hs:3:10-14 Possible fix: add (Num a) to the context of the type signature for `add' In the expression: a + b In the definition of `add': add a b = a + b So GHC clearly can deduce that I need the Num type constraint, since it just told me: add :: Num a => a -> a -> a add a b = a + b Works. Why does GHC require me to add the type constraint? If I'm doing generic programming, why can't it just work for anything that knows how to use the + operator? In C++ template programming, you can do this easily: #include <string> #include <cstdio> using namespace std; template<typename T> T add(T a, T b) { return a + b; } int main() { printf("%d, %f, %s\n", add(1, 2), add(1.0, 3.4), add(string("foo"), string("bar")).c_str()); return 0; } The compiler figures out the types of the arguments to add and generates a version of the function for that type. There seems to be a fundamental difference in Haskell's approach, can you describe it, and discuss the trade-offs? It seems to me like it would be resolved if GHC simply filled in the type constraint for me, since it obviously decided it was needed. Still, why the type constraint at all?   User submits a CSV file which is consumed by a program. Values which are used throughout the program come from the CSV, natually if values are missed it is a problem. Below is my solution. • Android ProgressDialog inside another dialog

  I'm working on a game using AndEngine, and I need to show the users the list of his Facebook friends. I've created my custom Adatper and after the loading finishes everything works great. I have a problem with the loading it self. The ListView is inside a custom dialog, since I don't really know how to create one using AndEngine, So inside this dialog, I'm running an AsyncTask to fetch the friends' info, in that AsyncTask I'm have a ProgressDialog. The problem is, the ProgressDialog shows up behind the dialog that contains the to-be list (which while loading, is just the title). I can see the ProgressDialog "peeking" behind that dialog.. Any Ideas? • Referencing java resource files for cold fusion

  I am using a .Jar file containing a .properties file in my CF code, however it seems unable to find the .properties file when run from CF. My CF code is simply: propTest = CreateObject("java","package.class"); testResults = propTest.main2(); Is there a special way to reference the .properties file so CF can access it, or do I need to include the file outside the .jar somewhere?

• Python - Access a class from a list using a key

  Is there any way to make a list of classes behave like a set in python? Basically, I'm working on a piece of software that does some involved string comparison, and I have a custom class for handling the strings. Therefore, there is an instance of the class for each string. As a result, I have a large list containing all these classes. I would like to be able to access them like list[key], where in this case, the key is a string the class is based off of. It seems to me that I sould be able to do this somewhat easily, by adding something like __cmp__ to the class, but either I'm being obtuse (likely), or Im missing someting in the docs.   hello, I am creating a Chat in java. I have a method (onMouseRelease) inside an object that creates a tcp server and waits for a socket ServerSocket server = new ServerSocket(port); Socket channel = server.accept(); now I want to make a thread that will loop and read data from the socket, so that once the user on the other side sent me a string, I will extract the data from the socket [or is it called packet? sry I am new to this], and update a textbox to add the additional string from the socket [or packet?]. I have no idea how to READ (extract) the information from the scoket [/packet] and then update it into a JTextArea which is called userOutput. And how to Send a string to the other client, so that it will also could read the new data and update its JTextArea. (from what I know, for a 2 sided tcp communication you need one computer to host a server and the other to connect [as a client] and once the connection is set the client can also recieve new information from the socket. Is that true? and please tell me how ) Any help appreciated !! I know this is abit long but I have searched allot and didn't understand [I saw something like printwriter but failed to understand].

• Opening up process and grabbing window title. Where did I go wrong?

  In my application I allow for the users to add a program from a open file dialog, and it then adds the item to a listview and saves the items location into the tag. So what I am trying to do is when the program in the listview is selected and the button is pressed, it starts a timer and this timer checks to see if the process is running, and if it isn't launches the process, and once the process is launched it gets the window title of the process and sends it to a textbox on another form. EDIT: The question is if anyone can see why it is not working, by this I mean starting the process, then when it's started closing the form and adding the process window title to a textbox on another form. I have tried to get it working but I can't. I know that the process name it is getting is right I think my problem is to do with my for loop. Basically it isn't doing anything visible right now. I feel like I am very close with my code and im hoping it just needs a couple minor tweaks. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry if my coding practices aren't that great, im pretty new to this. EDIT:I thought I found a solution but it only works now if the process has been started already. It won't start it up. • Best way to run multiple queries per second on database, performance wise?

  I am currently using Java to insert and update data multiple times per second. Never having used databases with Java, I am not sure what is required, and how to get the best performance. I currently have a method for each type of query I need to do (for example, update a row in a database). I also have a method to create the database connection. • MongoDB search in C#

  I have a problem with querying MongoDB. In my code I have a method Get which has as a parametar a Dictionary. It should go through the database and query it, comparing string and then object. So, i always get a problem with this object part, QueryDocument won't take in an object type because it isn't an BsonValue. I have tried to cast it but it won't work. Do you have any suggestions ? • Adobe Air, packaged install fails with my trace routine... how come?

  I cobbled together some code from here and there for a trace I like... it generates an error to get a stack trace and picks out the traced routine name, I like that detail in the trace log. Problem: it fails in an installed AIR file. I wonder why?   I have a Movie plan table: movie_plans (id, description) Each plan has items, which describe a sequence of movies and the duration in minutes: movie_plan_items (id, movie_plan_id, movie_id, start_minutes, end_minutes) A specific instance of that plan happens in: movie_schedules (id, movie_plan_id, start_at) However the schedule items can be calculated from the movie_plan_items and the schedule start time by adding the minutes create view movie_schedule_items as select CONCAT(p.id, '-', s.id) as id, s.id as movie_schedule_id, p.id as movie_plan_item_id, p.movie_id, p.movie_plan_id, (s.start_at + INTERVAL p.start_minutes MINUTE) as start_at, (s.start_at + INTERVAL p.end_minutes MINUTE) as end_at from movie_plan_items p, movie_schedules s where s.movie_plan_id=p.movie_plan_id; I have a model over this view (readonly), it works ok, except that the id is right now a string. I now want to add a polymorphic property (like comments) to various of the previous tables. Therefore for movie_schedule_items I need a unique and persistent numeric id. I have the following dilemma: I could avoid the id and have movie_schedule_items just use the movie_plan_id and movie_schedule_id as a compound key, as it should. But Rails sucks in this regard. I could create an id using String#hash or a md5, thus making it slower or collision prone (and IIRC String#hash is no longer persistent across processes in Ruby 1.9) Any ideas on how to handle this situation?

I think it has something to do with wrappers, but i can't get a simple answer for this from the web. So in simple terms the only piece of this code which changes is the bit between the try {} the rest is standard code that i have currently used over 100 times and is turning out to be a pain to maintain.
