  I'm still entangled in error handling problems. After having read and tried lots of different scripts, I still do not have an overall insight on the problem. I made a syntax error on purpose and get the following error message : Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in /home/directory/public_html/mypage.php on line 10 To understand how it work, as a first step, I'd like to remove this message(which I'am able to do) and replace it by a custom one.   So, that's how works Interesting Tags: I add into them my interested tags like php, mysql, jquery and so on. Then, if any of questions has the same tags as mine it makes background orange. I understand how to use jquery to do that (there were related questions to that), but without mysql it can't be done. Now, here is a question. How is it done? I imagine like that: There is a row in mysql for every member, let's call it "interested_tags". After I write and submit my tag through input, it is being written in a row "interested_tags". Then, the main page has a query which shows all answers and it always checks answer's with mine tags with strpos like this if(strpos($question_tags, $my_tags) === true) {        //and here will be made background orange } Am I thinking right or is there any way to do it?

  I am trying to scrape www.weather.bm. I want all 10 radar images, but I can only get one (the image updates regularly) and it's not a absolute image url. I was hoping I could use the image as a image slideshow like the link but dont know how. Also, how can I remove images/Radarlegend.png? I just need the radar images.   I don't have much Zend experience and want to change someone's login code in Zend to make the session not expire. It seems the code is basic behavior: $adapter = $this->getAuthService()->getAdapter(); $adapter->setIdentity($email)->setCredential($password); $result = $this->getAuthService()->authenticate(); What do I have to do to make the session not expire or to at least set the session for a specific time? Right now the user doesn't stay logged in for long, I think perhaps it is just relying on default php settings behavior like the standard 24 minutes for the gc_maxlifetime. What is the connection between Zend_Session and AuthService?

• MVC for web development: Sign-up form?

  How would I go about implementing a signup form using the MVC pattern for a website (I'm using PHP)? I think the controller should receive the POST data initially. Then probably some interation with the model might need to take place (if the user successfully signs up). Then I think the signup form view would be called, and a value would be passed in saying whether or not the signup was successful. Stuff I need help with: Where do I do input validation (ie. proper email address formatting)? How do I check to make sure the username is unique? Is the rest of my description alright? How would you go about doing an MVC website signup form?

• Is there a way to test my nonce validation fails when it should?

  I'm using nonce validation in a wordpress plugin. When I submit the form from the admin menu it processes correctly, so I believe the nonce validation is working. What I'm not sure is if the validation will fail when it is supposed to and I don't know what the best way to test this is. I tried putting the url for the php file in directly, but all it does it take me to a wordpress not found page. Is there some recommended way to test this? Here is my code. • Question about software that tracks divs better than notepad++

  I recently got hired as a web developer, and the project that I am overseeing has a formatting issue on one of the pages because one of the divs is out of whack. It is a fairly complex page with quite a bit of php, and from what I can gather, I am missing a </div> tag somewhere, and accordingly everything is messed up. I am currently using notepad++, which is decent at lining up divs, meaning that if you click on the opening div tag, it will highlight purple and also highlight the closing one. But it seems as though if you have div tags that span several lines (hundreds) it won't work. Has anyone else run into a similar situation? Is there a better editor I could be using that would do a better job of helping me with my div issue? Or do I have to go through and line up the divs 1 by 1? (there are like over 100). Please let me know!! Thanks

  I'm having problems with wordpress mishandling accented characters, or maybe the problem is with some plugin. Whichever the case I need to "translate" some strings, removing accents which i do with: $value = strtr($value, $trans); I really need to change this string which renders the user's location but it's printed with a script so I have no idea how to do it: <script language="javascript"> document.write('' + geoip_city() +''); </script> Is there a way to assign it's result to a php value beforehand or something? • Does SELECT COUNT(*) work with MySQLi prepared statements?

  I'm working on a test page and am using MySQLi prepared statements in my queries after reading they make my code safe from SQL injection. I have been successful with prepared statements so far with retrieving data from my DB, that all works great. What I want to do now is count the number of galleries within a project using SELECT COUNT(*). That's it. Without using a prepared statement, my old query looked like this: // count number of galleries per project $conn = dbConnect('query'); $galNumb = "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM pj_galleries WHERE project = {$pjInfo['pj_id']}"; $gNumb = $conn->query($galNumb); $row = $gNumb->fetch_row(); $galTotal = $row[0]; But for all my reading and searching the internet, I can not find out the proper way to write this as a prepared statement. I'm no PHP whiz here, and not coding daily isn't helping my skills. If I've missed anything please ask. Many thanks!

• Help with validation rules

  I am trying to figure out how to validate a section of a form using php. If at least one of value 1-5 is checked, then at least one of value A-E must be checked. Value's A-E cannot be allowed without at least one of 1-5 being checked. Multiple values in each section can be selected, as long as there is at least one value in each section checked. I have tried individual IF statements and arrays without success. Does anyone have any suggestions or examples? I am missing something and I am certain it is pretty obvious, right in my face.

• Passing NULL values into mysql Stored procedure

  I am trying to pass a few NULL values to a stroed procedure but PHP always retains the varaibles to be empty strings '' and not NULL. My DB insert function looks like this. (I am using a Framework and ADODB so if it looks weird thats why). function insert_emp($f_name, $last_name, $dob) { if(!isset($dob)){ $dob = NULL; } $this->DB->setConnection("CALL insert_emp('$f_name', '$l_name', '$dob')"); } I have ensured that $dob is being passed an empty string ''. But for some reason when it calls the stored proc it is not changed to NULL. dob is a datetime field and mysql complains that you can not enter an empty string as a DATETIME. If I hard code the insert such as this $this->DB->setConnection("CALL insert_emp('Test1', 'Test2', 'NULL')"); it will work. Thanks for the help.

• Scheduled cron job to check for pending activity

  Using PHP ... This is for my personal use so I'm thinking maybe 3-4 emails a day. I'm at a point where I can send an email to a dedicated email address where my script parses the message and stores it into a DB. Now, I need to figure out the best way to check the records in the DB for any upcoming task. I feel like I'm missing something, maybe like a trigger field as to when a reminder should go out. However, that's not a concern to me at the moment since I'll just send an alert 15 mins prior to the due date. Question is, shoudl I run a cron job that queries the DB every minute? I take it the query will have to say something like "select all tasks that is due within 15 minutes."

  Hello everyone, I created a php file that return dynamically generated text. This text is returned with a div id. When I retrieve that text using Ajax as responseText. I would like to access the properties of that div using javascript, which is impossible since that new text is not added to the DOM. My question is, how can i access that div using either raw javascript or frameworks (am somewhat familiar with jQuery) ? It may be useful to note that the div can be accessed using CSS. Thank you.

• select subquery cause mysql server to be unresponsive

  DELETE FROM item_measurement WHERE measurement_id IN ( SELECT (-id) AS measurement_id FROM invoice_item WHERE invoice_id = 'A3722' ) I've really tried hard to find what's wrong with the code. I tried to run this in a php page, which doesn't respond. I also tried the same line in phpmyadmin, infinite spinning circle and I had to restart the server(MAMP on Mac 10.9). No error was given in browser/ If I run the delete and select separately, they both finish very quickly. I don't think it's a performance issue because the separate run took < 0.1 sec each. Thanks for any help in advance. Edit: I also found that a simple select statement will also suspend mysql: select * from item_measurement where measurement_id in (select -id from invoice_item where invoice_id='A3722')

I'll use mostly PHP, MySQL, JavaScript and Ajax. But I have never made a project like this before. I have only made like CMS-systems and so on. Do you guys have any tips on how I should structure this project? I'm also not so used to Object-oriented programming, but I guess I should consider this.   I am trying to make a multiple image uploader. The file upload fields are being added in the form dynamically using jquery. I tried making an array of the fields since I don't want to have a hidden field. so my generated upload fields look like <input type="file" id="img0" name="img[]"/> <input type="file" id="img1" name="img[]"/> <input type="file" id="img2" name="img[]"/> ..... .. And on the php side I did something like if(isset($_FILES['img'])) { foreach($_FILES['img'] as $k=>$v) { if($v!="") { uploadImage($k,0,0,0,"content/gallery/"); } } } Now I know I am way too wrong, since in that code I am looping through the 'img' file's properties instead of all images....but I have no idea how to fix this. PS: uploadImage is a function I wrote which expects the file input field's name as the first parameter.
