• Process incoming emails with script

  Remember iwantsandy.com? It was quite popular for what it did. ANyways, I'm looking to do something similar, but my question is, how does one process incoming emails? Let's assuming I'm using PHP or maybe even Ruby to do this. I would need a way to process the emails and dump them into a DB or something. Ok fine, but my main question is getting a script to kick off when an email comes in. I have a VPS so I have full control over my environment and it's running Centos.

  In my project, have setup an admin panel under a folder inside controllers folder like this controllers/admin_panel/dashboard.php And when we open it like this, it loads dashboard controller default http://www.mysite.com/admin_panel Now I have added a page controller on root level to load the page content from database. So here I have some a setup of kind of CMS. To load the page controller, I have added a condition in routes as below $route[':any'] = "page"; But what it is doing now is, when I try to open admin_panel, it loads the page controller. So I want to add a kind of exception condition here like route any except admin_panel Any suggestions how can I achieve this ? Thanks in advance.

• Community based translating system

  Since we don't funds to hire translators for getting multiple languages translated we want the community to do the translation for us. Its a social network. I can't find any good open souce framework to auto do this. Thinking something like: User selects a language, system displays random sentences and user will translate it. Then other users can vote on how good it is. If it's 100 votes + with 95% yes then it becomes official. Site is in PHP. Any ideas?

• Same script, working on a site, not working on the other!

  Hello, First of all I apologize in advance for this question, a bit off the rang of stackoverflow, but I've spend a day trying to solve that issue and I'm totally stuck. The issue: The search function of my script (php) works perfectly fine on one host but not on the other. If you search something here : edu-cafe.com, you'll get a result, just as it should be. However, try a search on this site, hosted somewhere else : code-reduc.com, exact same script, files and datable, and it just hang. I've asked both the host and the original programmer of the script to look at the issue but they can't seem to find an answer... • How do i sort by: most viewed, most commented, most popular, best rating, etc?

  Pretty basic question.. I kno.., I just don't know how its done. I see it everywhere. I want to be able to sort out my content in my websites by most viewed, most commented, most popular, best rating, etc...with a drop down list, check box, etc... but I don't know how "sort by" works? Which scripting language should it be written in? Javascript? PHP? Can it be done with XML? Do I have to have a database set up like MySQL? Is there a good tutorial anywhere that explains it? I need to be explained the exact process of how it works. As you can see I really need direction.. Your help is much appreciated :D

• session_regenerate_id(true) not work

  I use wampserver2.1 php5.3.3, I found session_regenerate_id(true) not work in my script,document says when I set the parameter 'delete_old_sessions' true, there should be a new sid and all the session variables should be deleted, but the fact is after the function, $_session[abc] is still there. did I misunderstand the function,what is my problem? • maintain formatting entered into an html form?

  Im setting up a web form, and I'm trying to have it where visitors can paste their resumes into a text area. Then I want to email the info using php mail(). But the resume info is just stored in the variable as one long string with no formatting. Is there a way I can send the pasted resume text to the client in the resume format? Maintaining all the line breaks and stuff? He wants to avoid having people upload resumes.

  I have a classified website, with pretty sophisticated searching, and I am about to implement a function where the last three queries is displayed for the user, so that the user can go back easier through the queries. This because for each query the user has to provide a lot of input. I have four questions for you: I wonder, how can I save the actual query (SELECT * FROM etc etc)...? Do I need to add some form of encryption to be on the safe side? How will this affect performance? (I don't like the fact that cookies slow websites down) Anything else to think about? • Want to 'sandbox' user form submitted HTML

  Hi all. I have a user form with a textarea that allows users to submit html formatted data. The html itself is limited by PHP strip_tags, but of course that does no completion checking etc. My basic problem is that should a user leave a tag unclosed, such as the tag, then all the content following that, including page content that follows that is 'outside' the user content display area, could now be malformed. Checking for proper tag completion is one solution I will look at, but ideally I'd like to firewall the user htmlified content away from the rest of the site somehow. Any suggestions on the best approach? Thanks!

• Browser compatibility; Before or after uploading website to server?

  I am on the stage where I need to make my website cross-browser compatible. I need tips on how to get started. I have developed my website on firefox, so it works great with firefox. I guess I have to download a couple of versions of all major browsers now, right? Then just test each browser one by one? Should I do this before uploading the entire website onto a server or afterwards? All tips and SW which makes this easier is appreciated. • How do I create a no-javascript url hash handler for my website?

  Ok, I'm not sure how this is normally done. But I've got a script that basically empties a div of content and then loads content from a div from a separate webpage, without reloading the current page. This works great. It's taken from this example actually, from net tuts (great site btw) http://nettuts.s3.amazonaws.com/011_jQuerySite/sample/index.html And the guy who wrote this even though about handling the url's since the url don't change when using his method. So he wrote a javascript snippet that looks up the url and loads the content accoringly. Which is not working btw. But I was thinking about people who don't have javascript enabled, or iPhone and iPad users ;) Copying URLs and sending to a friend won't work at all. So how is this typically done? And can it be done without javascript? Possibly by php?

• Twitter URL encoding

  Hi, We're about to launch a little twitter Christmas competition, and I've run into a little snag. To enter, people will need to post a tweet in the following format: @user blah, blah, blah #hashtag Currently, I have a form where they enter their answer (the blah, blah, blah) and a PHP script which encodes the entire statement and adds on the twitter url: http://www.twitter.com/home?status=%40user%20blah%2Cblah%2Cblah%20%23hashtag Then takes the user to twitter and puts the status in the update field. However, whilst the spaces (%20) are decoded fine the @ and # characters remain as %40 & %23 respectively, even when the tweet is posted. I cannot put the actual characters in the url as twitter mistakes this for a search. Is there any way to solve this? I'd like to do it without requiring username & password etc if possible. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

• Site works perfect in Mozilla but not in IE. Is my js file not compatible with IE

  I'm working on a site written in PHP/MySQL. We have a form to reserve time on a calendar and it works great in Mozilla and stores the reservation to our database, but in IE you fill out the form and when you click the "Reserve" button to submit it and nothing happens. All I can think of is that my javascript is not working with IE. I have these lines in my .js file: resLenT = document.getElementById(resLenElem); resLenI = resLenT.selectedIndex; resLen = resLenI + 1; where resLenElem is a drop-down box. These are the only lines that I can think of at the moment that might be causing trouble in IE. Does this all sound like I'm on the right track or am I way off base?

• Is keeping uploads folder outside of 'public_html' enough to keep my application secure from malicio

  Although I realise there are different approaches to securing upload process, I'm still confused when it comes to basic principles. I want to allow users to upload any kind of file they want, but keep my app secure. So my question is: Is it sufficient to store the files with their original names in 'uploads' folder outside 'webroot' and fetching them via some download.php script? If it't not secure enough, please point me in the right direction, or suggest what additional steps I should take to make it safe. Thank you.

  In general, should one design in order to place processing load on client-side? More specifically, a search engine to locate subscriber information requires a fair amount of parsing (multiple phone numbers to sort and format, hour of day, timezone, comparisons for possible substitutions of user information, etc.). Again, in general, is it preferred that one have client-side do the work? It seems to me 'yes' in a situation in which one will have many thousands of hits per minute. Use php for quick database queries ... process retrieved data client-side. yes ... no?

• Script Doesnt Run All the Way Through

  I have a php script that should execute 2 for loops. Both take awhile to run. I have called ignore_user_abort(true) and set_time_limit(0). The interesting thing is, the first for loop completes, then the script dies without calling the next line of code. ignore_user_abort(true); set_time_limit(0); for($i=0; $i<10500; ++$i) { //do work } mail('[email protected]', 'First loop done', 'None'); for($j=0;$j<12500; ++$j) { //do work } mail('[email protected]', 'Second loop done', 'None'); The first loop will finish after about 20 minutes, but the mail function is never called, the script just ends. Any ideas why this might be happening other than a timeout (I have run other scripts for days on my current configuration)?

  I have a MySQL table with the following columns: id(int), date (timestamp), starttime(varchar), endtime(varchar), ... I need to find time slots that are occupied by two or more rows. I need a query to identify such colliding rows - something that would give me the ID of all rows in the collision. Why? I try it also without bin2hex, it also did not work. Can anybody help me with that?

  I am using MySQL DB and I have created a PHP script for the following, now i need the idea for the below asked question.... please help... I have a table called audit trail whose structure is: id, trackid, table, operation, newvalue, oldvalue, field, changedone I have created triggers for insert/update/delete for every table of same DB, now whenever there is change in ny DB the triggers get activated and updates the Audit trail table accordingly.. I am tracking these changes so that i can use these changes to be done on production DB which is of same structure as of this test DB. Also when the admin finds that he does not need the changes recently he did for production DB then he can rollback it using the Old Data it stored in Ausittrail table of test db. Now here in audit trail table structure, there will be an insert for every single field change like-wise if a table has 4 fields then the change in that tavle will insert 4 rows in audit trail.. Coming to the question now, How can i find the latest change done from the Audit table so that I can insert these changes in Production DB.
