• Why my public ip address is different when I visit different website? [closed]

  After I connect to web via pppoe, I visit different website's phpinfo() page, but the result of _SERVER["REMOTE_PORT"] is different. Including some ip address lookup site like www.whatismyip.com, www.apnic.net etc. and gmail's ip location lookup list are all different. Why? Is these different ip address allocated by ISP on different web resources ? Maybe the reason is CDN by my ISP or the website? If the reason is the ip address allocated by ISP on different web resources, the website visitor's ip address may unreal.

  If your website uses the AppPoolIdentity and requires access to the private key of an x509Certficate, you’ll need to grant the read permissions to the iis application pool.   To grant permissions to the AppPoolIdentity: Run Certificates.MMC (or Start->run->mmc.exe, Add Certificate Snap-In for LocalMachine) Select the certificate (Personal node on the certificate tree) , right click and Manage Permissions. Add a new user to the permissions list. Enter "IIS AppPool\AppPoolName" on the local machine". Replace "AppPoolName" with the name of your application pool.

• Incorrect instructions on Upgrading to 12.10 from 12.04LTS

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QuantalQuetzal/TechnicalOverview/Beta1 reports incorrect instructions for upgrading from Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. The correct steps are: Alt+F2, Update Manager, choose settings, updates tab and set notify to "For any new version." Close the manager. Press Alt+F2, Terminal, then enter "sudo update-manager -d" (without the quotes)... Sorry to pester this list, but the Ubuntu wiki has no provisions for "Talk" or "Discussion" that do not require registration and a login. I feel like I should be able to point out a problem without signing in.

• Plymouth did not install properly

  I was installing the plymouth manager in hopes of making a custom loading screen. While the terminal was working, my computer unexpectedly powered off. I can open up the manager and it appears to do what it is supposed to (minus the fact that I can't make my own theme) and the screen only shows on powering down. Anyway, all of the advice I have seen so far have resulted in errors and nothing getting fixed. I do not have permissions to simply select the folder and delete it for some reason and I have not been able to find out how to grant myself those permissions. I guess my question then is how do I get rid of the plymouth manager so I can reinstall it properly? • How could this diagram of the current most lucrative technologies be improved?

  I'm giving a talk in April 2011 on the "Developer English" and showing my non-developer audience, mostly English teachers, various diagrams to explain how developers see their industry etc. One of these diagrams is "Hot Technologies", basically, if you want to become a developer, what technologies should you learn to have the highest chance of (1) getting a job (2) making a good salary, and (3) work with the most exciting technology. This is a draft I made just to get some ideas out, basically C#, PHP, Java are where the bulk of the jobs are. Mobile development has a big future. JavaScript is becoming more and more important, and I want to list "minor technologies" such a Python, Ruby on Rails to the side, I assume e.g. that in general, there are a much smaller percentage of jobs in these technologies as in C#, PHP, Java. How could this diagram be improved?

  This one is mainly a personal reminder but I hope it helps somebody else too. Let's say you have a table that covers something like currency exchange rates with columns for the start and end dates of the period each rate was applicable. Now you need to list the rates that applied during the year 2009. For some reason this always fazes me and I have to work it out with a diagram. So here's the recipe so I never have to do that again: select  * from    ExchangeRate where   StartDate < '31-DEC-2009'         and EndDate > '01-JAN-2009'   That is all!

  Please help I installed Ubuntu11.10 32bit in an IBMTP41 notebook, that is NOT connected to the internet, tried running video files such as .mp4,.flv,.avi,.Xvid, in Movie Player but it asks for plugins, see the list below mp4: MPEG-4 AAC decoder; H.264 decoder flv: SorensonSpark Video decoder; MPEG-1 Layer3(MP3) decoder avi: MPEG-1 Layer3 (MP3) decoder; MPEG video decoder XviD: AC-3 (ATSC A/52) decoder; XviD MPEG-4 decoder how do i donwload (from another computer with internet) and install all these plugins and their dependencies. I also want to install the VLC Media player and its dependencies I assume this is related to the restricted codecs and I have tried donwnload/install them with no success. I'll appreciate all ur help

• Adding a Wine (.exe) file to open/play files in Thunar's 'Custom Actions'

  What is the line parameter in Thunar's "custom actions" that would play a music directory in a Wine (.exe) program? I want to put Foobar2000 (and possibly other such applications) in Thunar's Custom Actions (actions that can be added/edited to be used in the context menu to play music folder's content). If I put no command parameter at the end of path, the player opens but there is no play and no files in the play list. If I add any of the listed parameters I get the error unknown commandline parameter: /path.to.file (Giving an answer to this question depends on knowing the CLI command that would have to be added into Thunar - so please look at this question too)

I confirmed with a contact in that company that a PHP web developer can apply for it or even an ASP.Net developer. I also confirmed that the interview won't contain any questions specific to PHP or Ruby on Rails. Can anyone please provide a good list of questions for a senior web developer that isn't specific to a certain language?   I am involved into development a rich UI project: desktop windows application. Application uses asynchronous invocations and in its turn it should be ready to process external messages (events). The problem is clear: at first time it was built as a simple prototype and it was not stress tested and all was fine. Then application was grown: the number of calls to server and number of events from server are high and performance is low. What is more users noticed that sometimes performance is extremal low. Asynchronous invocations based on thread pool (BeginInvoke, EndInvoke), external events are going from WCF service (.NET 3.5). My goal is synchronization of all tasks and putting priorities to every executions in desktop application. My question is: is there any practice how to reach my goal: patterns, task priority list, others? What should I do at first, second and next times? Thanks

  Is there any tweaking involved in Ubuntu 10.10 to make the Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch work? And is this hardware getting some love from the new multitouch framework? If there's no multitouch support for it, then I'd fall back on the simpler (and cheaper) Wacom Bamboo Pen (to draw, no multitouch)... ENAC's general list of Linux multitouch devices states the following regarding Wacom: "The 'wacom' kernel driver handles these, and is undergoing work to make it compliant with the kernel multitouch protocol." But is this also compatible with Ubuntu's multitouch protocol (which I understand is a different effort than the kernel's)

  I recently had a question come up on one of my previous blog articles about downloading a specific video rendition.  When accessing image renditions, you simply need to pass in the 'Rendition=<rendition name>' parameter on the GET_FILE service and it will be returned.  But when you try that with videos, you get the error message, "Unable to download '<Content ID>'. • Do I need to install a package (openSWAN or strongSWAN maybe) to use ipsec?

  I want to connect to a windows share that only accepts ipsec transport mode. I have a list of security policies and a shared secret. I've skimmed through the man page on ipsec.conf on the web and it seems to be the place to put these polices. If ipsec is part of the kernel (and I think it is, I'm using Ubuntu 12.04) do I need to install some other package in order to get this working? I'm guessing it's either openSWAN or strongSWAN but don't know the difference.

• Single python file distribution: module or package?

  Suppose I have a useful python function or class (or whatever) called useful_thing which exists in a single file. There are essentialy two ways to organize the source tree. The first way uses a single module: - setup.py - README.rst - ...etc... - foo.py where useful_thing is defined in foo.py. The second strategy is to make a package: - setup.py - README.rst - ...etc... - foo |-module.py |-__init__.py where useful_thing is defined in module.py. In the package case __init__.py would look like this from foo.module import useful_thing so that in both cases you can do from foo import useful_thing. Question: Which way is preferred, and why? EDIT: Since user gnat says this question is poorly formed, I'll add that the official python packaging tutorial does not seem to comment on which of the methods described above is the preferred one. I am explicitly not giving my personal list of pros and cons because I'm interested in whether there is a community preferred method, not generating a discussion of pros/cons :)

  Possible Duplicate: Non-English-based programming languages Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I'm going to anyway. Without fail, every programming language I've ever seen, used or heard of has it's keywords based around English. if, else, while, for, query, foreach, image, path, extension, the list goes on, are all based around English words. Are there any languages, or ports of languages that base their core keywords based on non-english words to lower the wall for non-english speaking programmers? This is mostly for intrest (English is my first language so it's no problem for me). Are these languages popular locally (I.E. might a software development house in Germany use a programming language based in German over one based in English).
