  • Does iPhone libffi require jailbreak?

    - by Jared P
Hi, I'd like to write an app-store-approvable app for the iPhone OS which uses libffi. Is this allowed? I am capable of rewriting all of the parts that use it with things like NSInvocation without too much trouble, but would prefer libffi. So my question is: would apps that use libffi be accepted to the app store?

    - by Technovault
I am having an application which is built in 1.1 framework. This application is now rebuilt in 2.0 framework but due to some reason we have to use some of the pages of 1.1 framework. So for this we are executing both the applications simultaneously and n carrying out the work using querystrings. So my question can we include pages made in 1.1 and 2.0 framework in one website , if not then please suggest me any other alternative because me method is not that secure... waiting for response ....

  • How to implement " char * ftoa(float num) " without sprintf() library function in C, C++ and JAVA

    - by SIVA
Today I appeared for an interview, and the question was writing my own "char * ftoa(float num) " in C, C++ and Java. Yes, I know float numbers follow IEEE standard while allocating their memory, but I don't know float to char conversion by using Mantissa and Exponent in C. I don't have any idea to solve the above problem in C++ and JAVA. I/P to the ftoa(): 1.23 O/P from the ftoa(): 1.23 (char format). Thanks in advance ...

  • How to debug issues with differing execution times in different contexts.

    - by Dave
The following question seems to be haunting me more consistently than most other questions recently. What kinds of things would you suggest I suggest that they look for when trying to debug "performance issues" like this? ok, get this - running this in query analyzer takes < 1 second exec usp_MyAccount_Allowance_Activity '1/1/1900', null, 187128 debugging locally, this takes 10 seconds: DataSet allowanceBalance = SqlHelper.ExecuteDataset( WebApplication.SQLConn(), CommandType.StoredProcedure, "usp_MyAccount_Allowance_Activity", Params); same parameters

  • JSF trimming white spaces

    - by msharma
HI, I have an input field in which I want to trim any leading/trailing whitespaces. We are using JSF and binding the input field to a backing bean in the jsp using: <h:inputText id="inputSN" value="#{regBean.inputSN}" maxlength="10"/> My question is that besides validation can this be done in the jsp? I know we can also do this using the trim() java function in the Handler, but just wondering if there is a more elegant way to achieve this in JSF. Thanks.

  • Immutable values in F#

    - by rsteckly
I'm just getting started in F# and have a basic question. Here's the code: let rec forLoop body times = if times <= 0 then () else body() forLoop body (times -1) I don't get the concept of how when you define a variable it is a value and immutable. Here, the value is changing in order to loop. How is that different from a variable in C#?

  • How to choose programming language for projects?

    - by bdhar
This is a question I constantly encounter when I attend any technical forums / discussions / interviews. There is a similar article but it focuses on business merits as well. What I am looking for is a guide (not a checklist like this one which is abstract and not so accurate) which helps an architect to choose the programming language to implement a requirement. Is there a book or article available for the same purpose?

  • Determining a transaction fee before an order is processed

    - by Kenji Crosland
When users make credit card transactions on my web app, I'd like to include the transaction fee on the confirmation page before the user makes the order. The thing is, there are different transaction fees for different cards. Is there a way to determine a transaction fee from the card number? I'm using Rails and ActiveMerchant, but I figure this question was applicable to other languages as well.

  • Having trouble with a small example from school

    - by Kalec
The example is from a course, it's for comparing two objects in java: public class Complex { ... public boolean equals (Object obj) { if (obj instanceof Complex) { // if obj is "Complex" (complex number) Complex c = (Complex) obj // No idea return (real == c.real) && (imag == c.imag); // I'm guessing real means [this].real } return false; } } So, my question is: "what does this: Complex c = (Complex) obj actually mean" ? Also I've worked with python and c++, java is new for me.

  • Overriding previously set float using javascript in ie

    - by wheresrhys
I've read this question to figure out how to set float:none on an element which already has float:right set with class. I used element.style.cssFloat = "none", but this just added a new style property cssFloat which didn't over-ride the existing float:right. I've now fixed it using the adding/removing classes method. But is there a way of over-riding existing float rules in ie without having to use classes?

  • How to split a git repository while preserving subdirectories?

    - by Thomas
What I want is similar to this question. However, I want the directory that is split into a separate repo to remain a subdirectory in that repo: I have this: foo/ .git/ bar/ baz/ qux/ And I want: foo/ .git/ bar/ baz/ quux/ .git/ qux/ # Note: still a subdirectory How to do this in git? I could use the method from this answer if there is some way to move all the new repo's contents into a subdirectory, throughout history.

  • error C2065: 'CComQIPtr' : undeclared identifier

    - by Ken Smith
I'm still feeling my way around C++, and am a complete ATL newbie, so I apologize if this is a basic question. I'm starting with an existing VC++ executable project that has functionality I'd like to expose as an ActiveX object (while sharing as much of the source as possible between the two projects). I've approached this by adding an ATL project to the solution in question, and in that project have referenced all the .h and .cpp files from the executable project, added all the appropriate references, and defined all the preprocessor macros. So far so good. But I'm getting a compiler error in one file (HideDesktop.cpp). The relevant parts look like this: #include "stdafx.h" #define WIN32_LEAN_AND_MEAN #include <Windows.h> #include <WinInet.h> // Shell object uses INTERNET_MAX_URL_LENGTH (go figure) #if _MSC_VER < 1400 #define _WIN32_IE 0x0400 #endif #include <atlbase.h> // ATL smart pointers #include <shlguid.h> // shell GUIDs #include <shlobj.h> // IActiveDesktop #include "stdhdrs.h" struct __declspec(uuid("F490EB00-1240-11D1-9888-006097DEACF9")) IActiveDesktop; #define PACKVERSION(major, minor) MAKELONG(minor, major) static HRESULT EnableActiveDesktop(bool enable) { CoInitialize(NULL); HRESULT hr; CComQIPtr<IActiveDesktop, &IID_IActiveDesktop> pIActiveDesktop; // <- Problematic line (throws errors 2065 and 2275) hr = pIActiveDesktop.CoCreateInstance(CLSID_ActiveDesktop, NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER); if (!SUCCEEDED(hr)) { return hr; } COMPONENTSOPT opt; opt.dwSize = sizeof(opt); opt.fActiveDesktop = opt.fEnableComponents = enable; hr = pIActiveDesktop->SetDesktopItemOptions(&opt, 0); if (!SUCCEEDED(hr)) { CoUninitialize(); // pIActiveDesktop->Release(); return hr; } hr = pIActiveDesktop->ApplyChanges(AD_APPLY_REFRESH); CoUninitialize(); // pIActiveDesktop->Release(); return hr; } This code is throwing the following compiler errors: error C2065: 'CComQIPtr' : undeclared identifier error C2275: 'IActiveDesktop' : illegal use of this type as an expression error C2065: 'pIActiveDesktop' : undeclared identifier The two weird bits: (1) CComQIPtr is defined in atlcomcli.h, which is included in atlbase.h, which is included in HideDesktop.cpp; and (2) this file is only throwing these errors when it's referenced in my new ATL/AX project: it's not throwing them in the original executable project, even though they have basically the same preprocessor definitions. (The ATL AX project, naturally enough, defines _ATL_DLL, but I can't see where that would make a difference.) My current workaround is to use a normal "dumb" pointer, like so: IActiveDesktop *pIActiveDesktop; HRESULT hr = ::CoCreateInstance(CLSID_ActiveDesktop, NULL, // no outer unknown CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_IActiveDesktop, (void**)&pIActiveDesktop); And that works, provided I remember to release it. But I'd rather be using the ATL smart stuff. Any thoughts?

  • Neural Network: Handling unavailable inputs (missing or incomplete data)

    - by Mike
Hopefully the last NN question you'll get from me this weekend, but here goes :) Is there a way to handle an input that you "don't always know"... so it doesn't affect the weightings somehow? Soo... if I ask someone if they are male or female and they would not like to answer, is there a way to disregard this input? Perhaps by placing it squarely in the centre? (assuming 1,0 inputs at 0.5?) Thanks

  • IS there a simple way to remove Alt-Character shortcuts at runtime

    - by Dan Neely
I have a dialog with a number of Alt-Letter shortcuts on labels for textboxes/etc. This dialog can present data in either an editable or a read-only mode. I've received a request to hide the underlines for the shortcuts if the dialog is in read only mode. Other than editing the label text at runtime (ugh) is there any way to remove them? If you don't know what I'm referring to by alt-Letter shortcuts see this question.
