  • Class destructor memory handling in C++

    - by wyatt
    What potential memory leaks won't an implicit destructor handle? I know that if you have anything stored on the heap it won't handle it, and if you have a connection to a file or a database, that needs to be handled manually. Is there anything else? What about, say, non-base data types like vectors? Also, in an explicit destructor, need you destroy non-heap variables which would have been destroyed by the implicit, or are they handled automatically? Thanks

  • Django save_m2m() and excluded field

    - by jul
    hi, in a ModelForm I replaced a field by excluding it and adding a new one with the same name, as shown below in AddRestaurantForm. When saving the form with the code shown below, I get an error in form.save_m2m() ("Truncated incorrect DOUBLE value"), which seems to be due to the function to attempt to save the tag field, while it is excluded. Is the save_m2m() function supposed to save excluded fields? Is there anything wrong in my code? Thanks Jul (...) new_restaurant = form.save(commit=False) new_restaurant.city = city new_restaurant.save() tags = form.cleaned_data['tag'] if(tags!=''): tags=tags.split(',') for t in tags: tag, created = Tag.objects.get_or_create(name = t.strip()) tag.save() new_restaurant.tag.add(tag) new_restaurant.save() form.save_m2m() models.py class Tag(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=100, unique=True) class Restaurant(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=50) city=models.ForeignKey(City) category=models.ManyToManyField(Category) tag=models.ManyToManyField(Tag, blank=True, null=True) forms.py class AddRestaurantForm(ModelForm): name = forms.CharField(widget=forms.TextInput(attrs=classtext)) city = forms.CharField(widget=forms.TextInput(attrs=classtext), max_length=100) tag = forms.CharField(widget=forms.TextInput(attrs=classtext), required=False) class Meta: model = Restaurant exclude = ('city','tag') Traceback: File "/var/lib/python-support/python2.5/django/core/handlers/base.py" in get_response 92. response = callback(request, *callback_args, **callback_kwargs) File "/home/jul/atable/../atable/resto/views.py" in addRestaurant 498. form.save_m2m() File "/var/lib/python-support/python2.5/django/forms/models.py" in save_m2m 75. f.save_form_data(instance, cleaned_data[f.name]) File "/var/lib/python-support/python2.5/django/db/models/fields/ related.py" in save_form_data 967. setattr(instance, self.attname, data) File "/var/lib/python-support/python2.5/django/db/models/fields/ related.py" in set 627. manager.add(*value) File "/var/lib/python-support/python2.5/django/db/models/fields/ related.py" in add 430. self._add_items(self.source_col_name, self.target_col_name, *objs) File "/var/lib/python-support/python2.5/django/db/models/fields/ related.py" in _add_items 497.   • Is there an image phase correlation library available for Python?

    - by kamasudra
    A project that involves image processing, i.e. to calculate the angular shift of the same image when shifted by a medium of certain Refractive Index. We have to build an app that correlates the 2 images (phase/2D correlation?) and then plot using Chaco and Mayavi (2 libraries in Python). Is there any other existing template software (FOSS) that we can base our app on, or use it as a reference?

  • Distinguish between screen timeout and power-button-press?

    - by Nick
    Hi, my app does something when the screen goes black, but I want it to only carry out that task if the screen was turned off "by itself", through a screen timeout - NOT when the user presses the power-button. Is there any way to distinguish between those two events? ACTION_SCREEN_OFF obviously fires in both cases, and I haven't found any other intents that might match what I'm looking for. Thanks for your help, Nick

  • Generate table schema inspecting Excel(CSV) and import data

    - by Frank Malina
    How would I go around creating a MYSQL table schema inspecting an Excel(or CSV) file. Are there any ready Python libraries for the task? Column headers would be sanitized to column names. Datatype would be estimated based on the contents of the spreadsheet column. When done, data would be loaded to the table. I have an Excel file of ~200 columns that I want to start normalizing.

  • How do I get all the calendar entries for a particular time range using Google Calendar API

    - by BeWarned
    I want to view events over specific time range for a specific calendar, but am having trouble using the API, It is a generic API, and it reminds me of using the DOM. The problem is that it seems difficult to work with because much of the information is in generic base classes. How do I get the events for a calendar using Groovy or Java? Does anybody have an example of passing credentials using curl? Example code would be appreciated.

  • Is it common practice to put keywords in html markup for SEO?

    - by Joel
    Though it's on the edge of programming questions, I think this is still relevant here, as only those of us actually doing the coding for a site would be considering this. I've been reading more about keyword placement, and it seems to me like a good place to do keyword placement would be in the class and id names chosen for the elements they are representing. I'm not talking about any kind of black-hat keyword stuffing thing but real legitimate use of descriptive keywords for elements. Is this something that is actively done for SEO?

  • ASP.NET Free Online E-books or tutorials

    - by the_drow
    I need to learn programming ASP.NET with C# but I can't find a good online book to do so. Is there an ASP.NET equivalent to Diving into python? All of the books are quite expensive. I already know Java and C++, are there any major differences between them and C#? If so are there materials that cover only the differences and what I should learn?

  • void foo(int &x) -> Ruby? Passing integers by reference?

    - by Earlz
    Hello, as a way to spice up my C++ programming homework, I've decided to instead of typing the C++ from the book onto my computer, instead reforming it in Ruby. Yes it's a bit silly, but I'm bored. Anyway, I'm having trouble converting this kind of function to Ruby void swap(int &a,int &b){ int c=b; b=a; a=c } What would the equivalent ruby code looking inside a function ?

  • Generate navigation from a multi-dimensional array

    - by rg88
    The question: How do I generate navigation, allowing for applying different classes to different sub-items, from a multi-dimensional array? Here is how I was doing it before I had any need for multi-level navigation: Home Pics About and was generated by calling nav(): function nav(){ $links = array( "Home" => "home.php", "Pics" => "pics.php", "About" => "about.php" ); $base = basename($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']); foreach($nav as $k => $v){ echo buildLinks($k, $v, $base); } } Here is buildLinks(): function buildLinks($name, $page, $selected){ if($selected == $page){ $theLink = "<li class=\"selected\"><a href=\"$page\">$name</a></li>\n"; } else { $thelink = "<li><a href=\"$page\">$name</a></li>\n"; } return $thelink; } My question, again: how would I achieve the following nav (and notice that the visible sub navigation elements are only present when on that specific page): Home something1 something2 Pics About and... Home Pics people places About What I've tried From looking at it it would seem that some iterator in the SPL would be a good fit for this but I'm not sure how to approach this. I have played around with RecursiveIteratorIterator but I'm not sure how to apply a different style to only the sub menu items and also how to only show these items if you are on the correct page. I built this array to test with but don't know how to work with the submenu1 items individually: $nav = array( array( "Home" => "home.php", "submenu1" => array( "something1"=>"something1.php", "something2" => "something2.php") ), array("Pics" => "pics.php"), array("About" => "about.php") ); The following will print out the lot in order but how do I apply, say a class name to the submenu1 items or only show them when the person is on, say, the "Home" page? $iterator = new RecursiveIteratorIterator(new RecursiveArrayIterator($nav)); foreach($iterator as $key=>$value) { echo $key.' -- '.$value.'<br />'; }

  • Is Unit Testing worth the effort?

    - by The Talking Walnut
    I am working to integrate unit testing into the development process on the team I work on and there are some skeptics. What are some good ways to convince the skeptical developers on the team of the value of Unit Testing? In my specific case we would be adding Unit Tests as we add functionality or fixed bugs. Unfortunately our code base does not lend itself to easy testing.
