• Making HTML5 videos stored on AWS S3 **difficult** to download (because I cant make it impossible)

  I am building a website that hosts video's stored on AWS's S3 service. The videos are played thru a HTML5 player we have built. Ive just been asked to make sure "nobody can steal our video's". Now I know that if you really don't want something stolen, don't put it up on the internet. However I just need to secure these videos as good as possible, the videos need to at the very least resist someone going thru the source code and trying to download them manually. One option available to me is to completely rebuild the video player in flash. This is not ideal, for several reasons, notably because I would also then have to build an App for mobile devices to be able to view this site. So I am looking for other options. I have heard about using a token to make the file available only during certain times. I have heard of using a separate file to serve the videos that sits between the HTML5 page and the video file. I am also having a look at IAM, the Secure AWS Access Control, in the hopes AWS can solve this problem for me. Can anyone here recommend any of these options? Or perhaps suggest other options available to me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That’s what a colleague running Windows 8 said to me the day after he installed Windows 8 on his work laptop. “When I click my email, nothing comes up.” I took a look and realized what was going on – he was clicking the Windows 8 UI Mail app and assumed that this was somehow connected to his Outlook which was installed as a desktop app. And so highlights a major educational challenge that Windows 8 will encounter – millions of users used to one style of interface now being introduced to a new one that runs side-by-side with their desktop. At work we had an internal tech user group meeting, and we were showing new features of VS.NET 2012 and Windows 8. When we started talking about the difference between Windows 8 UI Apps (AKA Windows Store Apps), people started asking some good questions: - Can we share a codebase between desktop and Windows Store Apps? - What’s the difference between WinRT and .NET? - Why would we create a Windows Store App and not just a Desktop app? Of course, people are looking at this from a traditional desktop point of view and not a tablet platform, which is really the market that Windows Store Apps will shine on. Still, for developers who not only need to educate themselves but also educate their clients, we’re going to need a better understanding of Windows 8 to see it get real traction within the business/enterprise market. • Outlook 2013 Win 7 64 bit

  I am using Outlook 2013, and on some messages I can see the Other actions > View Source, but other messages I don't see it, I suspect somehow it has been disabled. Any suggestions as to how to see the source? I Tried adding a shortcut to this option to the Quick Bar list, on the messages in question, the shorcut disappears. I have also tried to alter registry, but I don't wnat to. I used to be able to right clight in the message to see the source, why is everything so hard now?

• Windows Remote Desktop with multiple monitors

  I'm looking for a remote desktop product that will allow me to switch on the fly between how many monitors the desktop is using. This would be going from one Windows 7 machine to another, one is running Ultimate, the other Enterprise. I know I can use Windows RDP with multi-monitor support, but it seems that only allows me to use ALL monitors, and if I switch to a windowed view, I get huge scrollbars because I'm going from 3 monitors to 1 window. What I'm looking for is something that will allow me to switch from 1, 2, or 3 monitor displays without restarting the RDP and would end up with a true 1/2/3 display - ie, if I go from 3 monitors to 1, or a window, I don't get scrollbars. Is there any such product?

• Problems with ATI propietary driver in Ubuntu 12.10, window trail and screen does not update

  I have problems with the Ati propietary driver (fglrx). I have an iMac (mid 2011) with a Radeon HD 6900M [1002:6720]. I did not have any problem under Ubuntu 12.04, but since I updated to 12.10, I get some annoying graphic corruption. The worst one is that sometimes the screen does not update with the new information. It happens a lot when I change between tabs in Chrome or Sublime Text. It usually gets updated when I scroll the page. Sometimes, when I type, I have to wait a little bit to view the new characters. And I get trails when I move windows too (like a part of the window). After a while, the trail disappears. I tried to install fglrx, fglrx-updates and the new beta driver downloaded from Ati (12.11 Beta 11/16/2012), with no luck. It happens the same with all of them. I tried to mess with Compiz config, but it didn't fix anything. The open source driver does not suffer this problem, but I need the performance of the propietary driver . Do you have clue? Thanks.

• Somehow Google considers a properly 301'd URL as 200 and is still indexing the new content in old page?

  We redirected all the old URL's to new ones properly using htaccess. The problem is Google, somehow is still finding content in the old page(which it shouldn't) and stores it in the cache rather than the new URL. For eg: Old Page- http://www.natures-energies.com/iching.htm New Page- http://www.natures-energies.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=760 If you type the old URL into the browser it redirects If you fetch the old URL as Googlebot in the webmaster tools the header says 301/permanently redirected. If I try to crawl as any other bot it still says 301 redirected. Even if you click the old link in Google it redirects to the new URL. Only in its cache it shows the old URL and moreover it shows the new content in it! I am stumped on how Google manages to grab the new content and puts in the old URL instead of the new one! One more interesting thing is that if I try a cache for the new page it shows the cache of the new content with old URL! Any help would be appreciated. I am at end of my wits. I think i have tried almost everything. Is there anything that I'm missing to see? You can use this search to find the old url's.   I'm currently evaluating alternatives to refactor a drivermanagement. In my multitier architecture I have Baseclass DAL.Device //my entity Interfaces BL.IDriver //handles the dataprocessing between application and device BL.IDriverCreator //creates an IDriver from a Device BL.IDriverFactory //handles the driver creation requests Every specialization of Device has a corresponding IDriver implementation and a corresponding IDriverCreator implementation. At the moment the mapping is fix via a type check within the business layer / DriverFactory. That means every new driver needs a) changing code within the DriverFactory and b) referencing the new IDriver implementation / assembly. On a customers point of view that means, every new driver, used or not, needs a complex revalidation of their hardware environment, because it's a critical process. My first inspiration was to use a caliburn micro like nameconvention see Caliburn.Micro: Xaml Made Easy BL.RestDriver BL.RestDriverCreator DAL.RestDevice After receiving the RestDevicewithin the IDriverFactory I can load all driver dlls via reflection and do a namesplitting/comparing (extracting the xx from xxDriverCreator and xxDevice) Another idea would be a custom attribute (which also leads to comparing strings). My question: is that a good approach above layer borders? If not, what would be a good approach?

• Can I filter multiple column headers to display subheadings of each in Excel?

  I can't seem to find this anywhere... it may not even be possible without coding? I have a spreadsheet containing more than one heading in a single column. These headings are identified with blue background and white font. Each of these headings have items listed below them. These "subheadings" are smaller, auto-black font and no fill background. Currently I have to scroll down the spreadsheet to view all headers and their contents. How do I create a filter that would allow me to sort on whichever header I want, so that (only) the contents of that particular header are displayed?

• What is wrong with this HTML5 <address> element? [closed]

• Excel DataFlow UML Viewer/Navigator/Visualiser tool/ hint

  Not sure what to call it but, is there a birds eye view tool for excel to show the data flow between excel sheets/cels etc? I have inherited some huge reports and looking at each cell to see where it's data comes from or what sheet/cell dependencies it has is a nightmare. Or even just something with excel that show the dependencies within a sheet of cells to each other etc. Or Any other visualization tool that can show the data flow between cells ( I tried visio but it seemed it is only for making diagrams of data not the data model of excel itself ). Or at least if I am within a cell and see a formula referring to other sheets and cells, is there a quick way to navigate there and back? Like code navigation in VS? Thank you for your help

  Do anyone knows any kind of apps or services for "taking care of servers"? (besides managed servers) There are hundreds of ways your server or application can stop working properly. Small things are easy to miss but usually easy to fix. Log overgrouth, configuration issues, etc. Of course there are best practice checklists, but its not a human task to check configuration best practices. Im sure it can be automated: some kind of agent can monitor all system settings, say what is right and wrong and give suggestions on how to make it right. I have to admin several servers and I need some kind of overview of overall situation. As well as a tool, that will fix problems automatically. Can you people suggest something? (I know its a little bit out of rules of SF, but I think this particular question is quite specific) It would be great to have something like http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1451319/asp-net-mvc-view-engine-comparison but for automation software.

• Thunderbird very slow with Gmail

  I'm using the latest version of Thunderbird with 3 Gmail accounts. Every time I launch it it seems it's downloading all my messages again. I've compacted folders (is the action working for the 3 accounts or do I need to do it for each of them?) and deleted the .msc files but nothing change. It leads to a software using a lot of bandwidth and being very slow when using it. It's a pain to write a message or even to view one. All the software is so slow I've never seen that it's almost unusable. I'm using thses addons : Dictionary Google Calendar Lightning My Gmail accounts are configured to imap.

• Certain websites do not open. Instead a 1*1 image gets displayed

  When I try to visit certain websites like www.bidvertiser.com, www.buysellads.com, a white page shows up, the title bar displays the site name followed by (1x1) in brackets. When I right click, 'View Source' option appears disabled. The Save As.. option shows the file type to be gif. However, when I preview the site in Google search results ( by moving the mouse over ) the screenshot of the site displays well. This happens on all the three browsers on my computer: Chrome, Firefox and IE. What is the problem and how can it be resolved? EDIT: At some point of time, they probably worked on my computer! I think it is a more general problem. The same happens when I click on certain links in Google search results.

• Hiding samba share from browse list for unauthorised users

  Hey Guys, I have been trying to setup my samba shares correctly. The setup i was looking for was having a couple of shares available publicly, guest accounts are ok and can browse these shares all ok. I have this setup correctly. The problem comes when setting up a share that only certain users can view, although i have setup a share that will only allow certain users to access. I havent been able to hide this share from guests. I had a look into the browseable = yes option but this hides it from everyone, including the users that have logged in. Any idea on how to tackle this? The setup i have for this private share is follows: [private] comment = private share for certain users path = /media/drive/private create mask = 0777 directory mask = 0777 writable = yes public = no users = admin

• How to force "Windows Explorer" to open new folders in the same window

  I have been searching for an answer to this question for a very long time. I have checked the "open folders in the same window" radio button in the general tab of folder options. I have also been told to uncheck the launch as seperate processes button in the view tab of folder options. I'm thinking some how this must be a registry issue. Anyone know a registry hack that will fix this problem and force windows explorer to open folders in the same window. I'm sick to death of having so many windows open. Im running Windows 7 Ultimate Beta 7100.

• Remote screen control software (such as VNC) with permission mechanism

  Does anyone know a kind of software that allows controlling of other computer, but the server can configure permission control? For example, the server can define five users, one of them can control, but the other four of them can only view. Also, file transfer support is required. I've tried TightVNC, it works fine with anything else, but it just does not support user permission control. RAdmin can serve this job, but I wish to find some software which is free. Thank you!

• What are the signs that a ten days debugging session will not resolve an issue? [on hold]

  Ten days ago, we fixed a bug on a large application and the hot fix has created a disappearing of some data from the user point of view (side effect). Data are not deleted, but have been set to hidden status. It could be possible to get the data back, but the thing seems to be hard: we've already spent 10 days to understand and reproduce the problem (mostly with SQL queries but sometimes it is necessary to update the database to test the application logic). My questions are : is 10 days a normal amount of time for these kind of problems? should we keep on and retrieve the data or should we give up this work (so the customer-relationship person will tell these users sorry for the loss, but your data have disappeared or maybe tell nothing at all)? what can be the signs that shows that we should stop to search for how to solve this issue? Edit about the context : we are a small team(3), users are not the customers, and lost data are not about the users money, bank or vital data. This is a question from a confused developer about development methodologies and business concerns, not about how we should deal with the customers.

I am currently uploading a file and then trying to echo out an anchor linking to that file, but since I used mkdir() with 0700 permissions to upload the file, it won't allow me access to view the file. I am pretty sure the problem I am experiencing is because of the file permission code I used. The problem is I just don't know what all the different file permission codes are and what they mean. • Window 7 hangs on using Adobe Reader

  Window 7 often hangs when i open some pdf file with Adobe Reader. First of all, Adobe Reader crashes and as soon as it stops, the window hangs and after few seconds, it displays a message quoting "Dumping Physical Memory" in a typical Windows98 manner and then the system reboots. This problem persists each time i use Adobe Reader. However, i have installed Foxit Reader to view Pdf files. But there are some issues with that also. As sometimes i have editable files, which could be done in Adobe Reader's newest version only. Suggestions on how to solve this problem would be appreciated.

• an issue with VMWare Workstation 10 and three monitors

  I'm having a bit of a problem with using three monitors with VMWare Workstation 10. When only two monitors are enabled in the system I have an option to "Cycle Multiple Monitors", available from the View menu (in full screen). When I enable the third monitor that option is no longer in the menu and I can only use one monitor at a time. I've found this article and a "Choose a Monitor Layout" button is mentioned there but I'm unable to see it anywhere. I'm using Windows 8.1 as the host and Ubuntu 14.04 as the guest. The graphics card is AMD Radeon R9 290x with latest beta drivers

• Screen refresh/display problem in Xubuntu 14.04

  I have just installed Xubuntu 14.04 as a dual boot on a desk top (Pentium R 4 CPU, 2.66 GHZ, 2G RAM) running XP home edition. In some situations when in Xubuntu I am having what seem to be screen refresh problems. When I open File Manager or Settings Manager the text names of various apps display but most of the icons do not. Moving the mouse over an app name generally causes the icon to appear, but it often vanishes once the mouse pointer is moved. This issue occurs irrespective of the view setting. Icons appear fine in the menu that comes up when I right click in the desktop, and in the menu that comes up when I click the mouse icon at top left. What I suspect is a related issue. In Abiword text sometimes fades, disappears or does not display immediately when I type, or text of the whole document fades. It then comes back or darkens if I left click a few times on the text. If I scroll through a document the text often fades and may remain faded until I left click a few times.

  I have a Windows 7 amd64 box where one directory is shared: local path is d:\drop\ remote path is \\aloism\drop from SMB point of view, Everyone has Read and Write permission ACLs for the folder are set so that all authenticated users have read and write permissions:NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users:(OI)(CI)C (which is inherited to all levels below) Now I create a symbolic link within the structure of the directory: D:\drop>mklink /d tools2 tools symbolic link created for tools2 <<===>> tools The problem is that I can't access this new directory from any of the remote machines (a Windows 7 box and a Windows XP box—both behave the same way): C:\>dir \\aloism\drop\tools2\ Volume in drive \\aloism\drop is droot Volume Serial Number is FA73-1897 Directory of \\aloism\drop\tools2 File Not Found How can I make it work? Possibly also for files?

• Good Wiki for SMB with Customer Interaction

  Hey, I know there's a bunch of wiki questions already but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good wiki thats good for use internally and can be access by some clients? Must be free (F/OSS preferred), Ubuntu (9.10+) compatible, and have per-page permissions. I setup MediaWiki and its fine for internal use but I don't know how, without some severe hackery, how to restrict a client to just view one page and all the images on it and css. It'll be worse when they ask to be able to modify it as well. Edit: also, please no java solutions

I want to reinstall ubuntu on this machine. How can i do it my own? I've already did it with CentOS and trought VNC i had a view on the grapich installer. It was great. What can i do this time?
