    Hi, I am a c# developer interested in developing a windows application to connect to a lotus notes .nsf db and display the information like 1) Number of forms 2) Number of views 3) Script Libraries 4) Actions 5) Agents Once I do this, I want to read each form and the UI elements available in each form and generate an equivalent .aspx file.   • SSRS 2005 formatting question

    Hi, I am working on SSRS 2005. I am using tow rows as header. The border between the two rows are made white color. The report works fine when I generate it with report viewer.     I'm looking for recommendations for an easy to use reporting/business intelligence tool that can interface with an sql server or access database. It can be web-based or a desktop tool. Ideally it would be freeware or low cost, and easy to use for users who are not that technically savvy (below the level of someone who can generate reports and complicated queries in Access). Any tools I've seen so far (such as Crystal Reports) are either too expensive or too complicated to use for non-power users.

I have some markup that I do not wish to change and would prefer to treat this in the same fashion as a standard .Net server control. Also, I know I can use a template based control to place some .Net controls within the markup as hidden and then trigger their click events from a client side click proxy. I'm doing some dynamic code generation using Reflection, and I've come across a situation where I need to get the backing field of a property (if it has one) in order to use its FieldInfo object. Now, I know you can use .IsDefined(typeof(CompilerGeneratedAttribute), false); on a FieldInfo to discover whether it's autogenerated, so I assume there's a similar thing for Properties which auto-generate fields?   • Are Parameters really enough to prevent Sql injections?

    I've been preaching both to my colleagues and here on SO about the goodness of using parameters in SQL queries, especially in .NET applications. I've even gone so far as to promise them as giving immunity against SQL injection attacks. But I'm starting to wonder if this really is true. Are there any known SQL injection attacks that will be successfull against a parameterized query? Can you for example send a string that causes a buffer overflow on the server? There are of course other considerations to make to ensure that a web application is safe (like sanitizing user input and all that stuff) but now I am thinking of SQL injections. I'm especially interested in attacks against MsSQL 2005 and 2008 since they are my primary databases, but all databases are interesting. Edit: To clarify what I mean by parameters and parameterized queries. By using parameters I mean using "variables" instead of building the sql query in a string. So instead of doing this: SELECT * FROM Table WHERE Name = 'a name' We do this: SELECT * FROM Table WHERE Name = @Name and then set the value of the @Name parameter on the query / command object.

    I have several views written in NHaml that I would like to render as encoded html. Here's one. %table.data %thead %tr %th Country Name %th ISO 2 %th ISO 3 %th ISO # %tbody - foreach(var c in ViewData.Model.Countries) %tr %td =c.Name %td =c.Alpha2 %td =c.Alpha3 %td =c.Number I know that NHaml provides syntax to Html encode the output for given lines using &=. However, in order to encode the entire view, I would essentially lose the benefit of writing my view in NHaml since it would have to look like this.... &= "<table class='data'> &= " <thead> So I was wondering if there was any cool way to be able to capture the rendered view as a string, then to html encode that string. Maybe something like the following??? public ContentResult HtmlTable(string format) { var m = new CountryViewModel(); m.Countries = _countryService.GetAll(); // Somehow render the view and store it as a string? // Not sure how to achieve this. var viewHtml = View("HtmlTable", m); // ??? return Content(viewHtml); } This question may actually have no particular relevance to the View engine that I am using I guess. The subselect is including votes for posts that have is_hidden = 1, so when I left join it to posts, if a hidden post is in the top 10 (ranked by votes), I can end up with records with NULL on the yes_count field. Performance: I have ~50k posts and ~500k votes. On my dev machine, the above query is running in .4sec. I'd like to stay at or below this execution time.   • Javascript : Submitting a form outside the actual form doesn't work

    Hello all, I'm trying to achieve a fairly easy triggering mechanism for deleting multiple items from a tablegrid. If a user has enough access he/she is able to delete multiple users from a table. In the table I have set up checkboxes, one per row/user. The name of the checkboxes is UsersToDeletep[], and the value per row is the unique UserID. When a user clicks the button 'Delete selected users' a simple validation takes place to make sure at least one checkbox is selected. After that I call my simple function Submit(form). The function works perfectly when called within the form-tags, where I also use it to delete a single user. The function: function Submit(form) { document.forms[form].submit(); } I've also alerted document.forms[form]. The result is, as expected [object HTMLFormElement]. But for some reason the form just won't submit and a pagereload takes place. I'm a bit confused and can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone point me in the right direction?     Hy, I'm using the signalR library on a project to handle an notification and chat modules. I've a table on an database to keep a track of online users. The HUB for chat is inheriting IDisconnect where i disconnect the user. After disconnecting the user, i warm the users about that event. At this point, i check if the disconnect user is the client. If it's, then i call an method on HUB to reconnect the user (just update the table). I do this because with the current implementation, once the user closes a tab on the browser it calls the Disconnect task but he could have another tab opened. I've not tested (with larger requests) this module yet, but on my development server it could take a few seconds between the IDisconnect event, and the request from the user to connect again. I'm concerned with my implementation to handle disconnected users from the chat but i can't see another way to improve this. If possible, could someone give me a advice on this, or this is the only solution that i've?

  • How to create database records for a financial year

    Hello, I need to create entities (specifically contracts) in a database table that are associated with a financial year. These contracts will be applied to projects. Any contract variation will be recorded by creating a new contract record for the same financial year but the original will remain associated with the project as a history. The projects can last several years and so at any one time a project will have a live contract record for each year as well as any number of historic contracts for that year. All of which is incidental but I'm trying to provide some context. If the contracts where for the year - it would be easy and I'd just store the Year either as a date field with the 1st of January or just an Integer. However the contracts run for financial years and I don't know how to approach this. I don't want a separate table containing the financial years as I don't want the users to have to maintain this. I don't want to store the financial year as a string "2009/2010" as this is not ideal for sorting/extracting the data. Any ideas will be helpful, my best so far is to have starting and ending year in 2 columns and just "KNOW" that starting is April of the year etc Thanks

    Hey all- I have one multi-row INSERT statement (300 or so sets of values) that I would like to commit to the MySQL database in an all-or-nothing fashion. insert into table VALUES (1, 2, 3), (4, 5, 6), (7, 8, 9); In some cases, a set of values in the command will not meet the criteria of the table (duplicate key, for example). When that happens I do not want any of the previous sets added to the database. I've implemented this with the following code, however, my rollback command doesn't appear to be making a difference.     We are trying to use sybase function power to do mathematical calculation for one of the DB columns. The hibernate is generating power function as pow(?, xyzo0_.AmtScale) whereas sybase supports power function as Syntax POWER( numeric-expression-1, numeric-expression-2 ) We have tried modifying the hibernate.dialect. Have tried org.hibernate.dialect.SybaseASE15Dialect org.hibernate.dialect.Sybase11Dialect org.hibernate.dialect.SybaseAnywhereDialect but all dialects generate the power function as pow(?, xyzo0_.AmtScale). Is this hibernate issue or are we missing something?

  • How to intercept 401 from Forms Authentication in ASP.NET MVC?

    I would like to generate a 401 page if the user does not have the right permission. The user requests a url and is redirected to the login page (I have deny all anonymous in web.config). The user logs in successfully and is redirected to the original url. However, upon permission check, it is determined that the user does not have the required permission, so I would like to generate a 401. But Forms Authentication always handles 401 and redirects the user to the login page. To me, this isn't correct. The user has already authenticated, the user just does not have the proper authorization. In other scenarios, such as in ajax or REST service scenario, I definitely do not want the login page - I need the proper 401 page. So far, I've tried custom Authorize filter to return ViewResult with 401 but didn't work. I then tried a normal Action Filter, overriding OnActionExecuting, which did not work either. What I was able to do is handle an event in global.asax, PostRequestHandlerExecute, and check for the permission then write out directly to response: if (permissionDenied) { Context.Response.StatusCode = 401; Context.Response.Clear(); Context.Response.Write("Permission Denied"); Context.Response.Flush(); Context.Response.Close(); return; } That works but it's not really what I want. First of all, I'm not even sure if that is the right event or the place in the pipeline to do that. Second, I want the 401 page to have a little more content. Preferably, it should be an aspx page with possibly the same master page as the rest of the site. That way, anyone browsing the site can see that the permission is denied but with the same look and feel, etc. but the ajax or service user will get the proper status code to act on. Any idea how this can be achieved? I've seen other posts with similar requests but didn't see a solution that I can use. And no, I do not want a 403.

  • iPhone: Cell imageViews repeating when loaded from url

    I'm developing a demo RSS reader for iPhone. I obviously have a tableview to display the feeds, and then a detailed view. Some of this feeds have a thumbnail that I want to display on cell.imageview of the table, and some don't. The problem is that when scrolling the table, loaded thumbnails start repeating on other cells, and I end up with a thumbnail on every cell. Here's a piece of my code.
