• jQuery Autocomplete using extraParams to pass additional GET variables

  I am referring specifically to the jQuery Autocomplete v1.1 plugin by Jörn Zaefferer [source: http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-autocomplete/] as there seems to be quite a few variations of this plugin. I'm trying to pass additional parameters to the server when the user starts typing because I have multiple fields that I want autocomplete to provide suggestions for. In addition to the query, I want to send the input name attribute to the server but I can't seem to use $(this).attr('name') within the extraParams. • Autofac WCF integration + sessions

  I am having an ASP.NET MVC 3 application that collaborates with a WCF service, which is hosted using Autofac host factory. I changed the binding to WSHttpBinding on the MVC side, but I am having different exceptions depending on how I tune it. I also tried changing AutofacServiceHostFactory to AutofacWebServiceHostFactory, with no result. I am not using config file as I am mainly experimenting, not developing real-life application, but I need to study the case. But if you think I can achieve what I need only with config files, then OK, I'll use them. I will provide exception details for each combination of settings if required, I'm omitting them not to make the post too large. Any ideas on what I can do?

• Rails model belongs to model that belongs to model but i want to use another name

  Hello. This may be a stupid question but im just starting to learn Rail thats why i am asking thsi question. I have one model called "User" which handles all the users in my community. Now i want to add a guestbook to every user. So i created a model called "user_guestbook" and inserted this into the new model: belongs_to :user and this into the user model: has_one :user_guestbook, :as => :guestbook The next thing i did was to add a new model to handle the posts inside the guestbook. I named it "guestbook_posts" and added this code into the new model: belongs_to :user_guestbook And this into the user_guestbook model: has_many :guestbook_posts, :as => :posts What i wanted to achive was to be able to fetch all the posts to a certain user by: @user = User.find(1) puts @user.guestbook.posts But it doesnt work for me. I dont know what i am doing wrong and if there is any easier way to do this please tell me so. Just to note, i have created some migrations for it to as follows: create_user_guestbook: t.integer :user_id create_guestbook_posts: t.integer :guestbook_id t.integer :from_user t.string :post Thanks in advance!

• jQuery Ajax call - Set variable value on success.

  Hey all, I have an application that I am writing that modifies data on a cached object in the server. The modifications are performed through an ajax call that basically updates properties of that object. When the user is done working, I have a basic 'Save Changes' button that allows them to Save the data and flush the cached object. In order to protect the user, I want to warn them if the try to navigate away from the page when modifications have been made to the server object if they have not saved. So, I created a web service method called IsInitialized that will return true or false based on whether or not changes have been saved. If they have not been saved, I want to prompt the user and give them a chance to cancel their navigation request. Here's my problem - although I have the calls working correctly, I can't seem to get the ajax success call to set the variable value on its callback function. How do I set a javascript variable on the Success callback so that I can decide whether or not the user should be prompted w/ the unsaved changes message? As was just pointed out, I am making an asynchronous call, which means the rest of the code gets called before my method returns. Is there a way to use that ajax call, but still catch the window.onunload event? (without making synchronos ajax)

• Microsoft Expression Blend 3 - Show / Hide a popup

  Hi, I'm using this for the very first time to do some quick prototyping (using sketchflow). I have a simple dialog window that I want to show when a button it pressed and then hide when a button (in the dialog, like an "OK" button) is pressed. If someone could just point me in the direction of a simple tutorial on how to do this I'd be happy, or even if you have a simple example you can post here that would be great (I've been trying to google this forever!). I can tell you what I have tried (although obviously it doesn't work) Created a user control, called it "MyDialog". That user control is a simple box which is the bit of gui I want to overlay when the user clicks a button. In that user control I gave it two states "Show" and "Hide". The "Hide" state has all visability to the elements in this user control set to none and "Show" shows everything Created a button in my main screen. That button I gave a it a behaviour "ActivateStateAction". In the properties of that behaviour I set the TargetScreen to be "MyDialog" and the TargetState to be "Show". (I also set the target screen to be MyprojectName.MyProjectNameScreens.MyDialog, that doesn't work either)

• Self hosted WCF ServiceHost/WebServiceHost Concurrency/Peformance Design Options (.NET 3.5)

  So I'll be providing a few functions via a self hosted (in a WindowsService) WebServiceHost (not sure how to process HTTP GET/POST with ServiceHost), one of which may be called a large amount of the time. This function will also rely on a connection in the appdomain (hosted by the WindowsService so it can stay alive over multiple requests). I have the following concerns and would be oh so thankful for any input/thoughts/comments: Concurrent access - how does the WebServiceHost handle a bunch of concurrent requests. Are they queued and processes sequentially or are new instances of the contracts automagically created? WebServiceHost - WindowsService communication - I need some form of communication from the WebServiceHost to the hosting WindowsService for things like requesting a new session if one does not exist. Perhaps implementing a class which extends the WebServiceHost with events which the WindowsService subscribes to... (unless there is another way I can set off an event in the WindowsService when a request is made...) Multiple WebServiceHosts or Contracts - Would it give any real performance gain to be running multiple WebServiceHost instances in different threads (one per endpoint perhaps?) - A better understanding of the first point would probably help here. WSDL - I'm not sure why (probably just need to do more reading), but I'm not sure how to get the WebServiceHost base endpoint to respond with a WDSL document describing the available contract. Not required as all the operations will be done via GET requests which will not likely change, but it would be nice to have... That's about it for the moment ;) I've been reading a lot on WCF and wish I'd gotten into it long ago, but definitely still learning.

  I seem to be having the opposite problem from this post: Autorotate in iOS 6 has strange behaviour When I submitted my paid app to Apple, XCode made me update to iOS 6 on my test devices. I used the GUI in XCode to set my app to display only in portrait mode on the iPhone and only in landscape mode on the iPad. This works great on my iOS 6 iPhone and iPad. In iOS 5, however, the iPad is allowing the app to rotate to portrait, displaying my buttons in a letterbox-like black area that shouldn't be there, and crashing repeatedly. I am using a Navigation Controller and storyboards. • jquery load and tinymce gives me a "g.win.document is null" on subsequent loads

  So... very excited as first post on stackoverflow I have this page, clicking a button will call editIEPProgram(). editIEPProgram counts how many specific divs exists, adds another div, loads it with html from '/content/mentoring/iep_program.php' and then calls $("textarea.tinymce").tinymce to add a rich text editor to the newly added text boxes. It finally adds a tab which handles the new stuff and bob is your uncle. It ALMOST works. Clicking the button the first adds everything and everything woks, on the second and subsequent click, everything is added but the tinymce fails to initiate (I guess) and gives me "g.win.document is null". • Combobox with collection view itemssource does not update selection box item on changes to the Model

  Hello, Sorry for the earlier lengthy post. Here is my concise (!) description. I bind a collection view to a combobox as a itemsSource and also bind its selectedvalue with a property from my view model. I must keep IsSynchronizedWithCurrentItem="False". I change the source list ofr the view and then refresh the view. The changed (added, removed, edited) items appear correctly in the item list of the combo. But problem is with the selected item. When I change its property which is also the displaymember path of the combo, the changed property value does not reflect back on the selecton box of the combo. If you open the combo dropdown it appears correctly on the item list but not on the selection box. Now if I change the combobox tag to Listbox in my XAML (keeping all attributes as it is) then when selected item's displaymember property value is updated, the changes reflect back on the selected item of the list box . Why this issue? Just FYI: My View Model has properties EmployeeCollectionView and SelectedEmployeeId which are bound to combo as ItemsSource and SelectedValue resp. This VM implements the INotifyPropertyChanged interface. My core employee class (list of which is the source for the EmployeeCollectionView) is simply a Model class without INotifyPropertyChanged. DisplayMemberPath is "Name" property of employee Model class. I change this by some means and expect the combo selection box to update the value. I tried refreshing ther SelectedEmployeeId by setting it 0 (where it correctly selects the dummy "-- Select All --" employee entry from itemsSource) and old selected value back. But no use. The old value takes me back to the old label. Items collection has latest entry though. When I make combobox's IsEditable=True before the view's refresh and after refresh I make IsEditable=False then the things work out correctly! But this is a patch and is unnecessary.   I need to fill a byte[] with a single non-zero value. How can I do this in C# without looping through each byte in the array? Update: The comments seem to have split this into two questions - Is there a Framework method to fill a byte[] that might be akin to memset What is the most efficient way to do it when we are dealing with a very large array? I totally agree that using a simple loop works just fine, as Eric and others have pointed out. The point of the question was to see if I could learn something new about C# :) I think Juliet's method for a Parallel operation should be even faster than a simple loop. • OAuth with Google Reader API using Objective C

  I'm using the gdata OAuth controllers to get an OAuth token and then signing my requests as instructed. [auth authorizeRequest:myNSURLMutableRequest] It works great for GET requests but POSTs are failing with 401 errors. I knew I wouldn't be able to remain blissfully ignorant of the OAuth magic. The Google Reader API requires parameters in the POST body. OAuth requires those parameters to be encoded in the signature like they were on the query string. It doesn't appear the gdata library does this. I tried hacking it in the same way it handles the query string but no luck. This is so difficult to debug as all I get is a 401 from the Google black box and I'm left to guess. I really want to use OAuth so I don't have to collect login credentials from my users but I'm about to scrap it and go with the simpler cookie based authentication that is more mature. It's possible I'm completely wrong about the reason it's failing. This is my best guess. Any suggestions for getting gdata to work or maybe an alternative iphone friendly OAuth library?

  I have a simple PoC project in Hudson. The PoC has unit tests written via UnitTest++ and outputs the results as XML for consumption by xUnit to munge into jUnit format. Here are the salient relevant I have my project configured to use MSBuild to build the 2008 solution. The project contains both the dll it is to build and the unit tests which are run as a post-build step. My workspace in Hudson is set to c:\develop\money (Money is the name of the project) and in the Hudson console I can see the workspace folders, the solution file and output folders (/bin, /doc, etc). The test console app outputs its file 'money_unit_tests.xml' to the folder 'reports' (making c:\develop\money\reports). I've restarted Hudson since installing xUnit and setting the workspace. However when I start Hudson building I am given the following message: [xUnit] Starting to record. [xUnit] [UnitTest] - Use the embedded style sheet.   Hi, I've created an assembly to share it between my main app and the silverlight app. At the beginning it looked like it was going to work but now I get this exception: "System.IO.FileNotFoundException was caught, Message="Could not load file or assembly 'System.Xml.Linq". I'm using .NET 3.5 Sp1 and Silverlight 3. That shared assembly uses System.Xml.Linq, and it cannot find it... I think because it is trying to find that version in the .NET framework instead looking in the silverlight one. How can I fix this? Cheers. • Interpolation and Morphing of an image in labview and/or openCV

  I am working on an image manipulation problem. I have an overhead projector that projects onto a screen, and I have a camera that takes pictures of that. I can establish a 1:1 correspondence between a subset of projector coordinates and a subset of camera pixels by projecting dots on the screen and finding the centers of mass of the resulting regions on the camera. I thus have a map proj_x, proj_y <-- cam_x, cam_y for scattered point pairs My original plan was to regularize this map using the Mathscript function griddata. This would work fine in MATLAB, as follows [pgridx, pgridy] = meshgrid(allprojxpts, allprojypts) fitcx = griddata (proj_x, proj_y, cam_x, pgridx, pgridy); fitcy = griddata (proj_x, proj_y, cam_y, pgridx, pgridy); and the reverse for the camera to projector mapping Unfortunately, this code causes Labview to run out of memory on the meshgrid step (the camera is 5 megapixels, which apparently is too much for labview to handle) I then started looking through openCV, and found the cvRemap function. Unfortunately, this function takes as its starting point a regularized pixel-pixel map like the one I was trying to generate above. However, it made me hope that functions for creating such a map might be available in openCV. I couldn't find it in the openCV 1.0 API (I am stuck with 1.0 for legacy reasons), but I was hoping it's there or that someone has an easy trick. So my question is one of the following 1) How can I interpolate from scattered points to a grid in openCV; (i.e., given z = f(x,y) for scattered values of x and y, how to fill an image with f(im_x, im_y) ? 2) How can I perform an image transform that maps image 1 to image 2, given that I know a scattered mapping of points in coordinate system 1 to coordinate system 2. This could be implemented either in Labview or OpenCV. Note: I am tagging this post delaunay, because that's one method of doing a scattered interpolation, but the better tag would be "scattered interpolation"

• Hive Based Registry in Flash

  To start with I'll say I've read the post here and I'm still having trouble. I'm trying to create a CE6 image with a hive-based registry that actually stores results through a reboot. I've ticked the hive settings in the catalog items. In common.reg, I've set the location of the hive ([HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init\BootVars] "SystemHive") to "Hard Drive\Registry" (Note: the flash shows up as a device called "Hard Drive") In common.reg, I've set "Flags"=dword:3 in the same place to get the device manager loaded along with the storage manager I've verified that these settings are wrapped in "; HIVE BOOT SECTION" This is where it starts to fall over. It all compiles fine, but on the target system, when it boots, I get: A directory, called "Hard Disk" where a registry is put A device, name called "Hard Disk2" where the permanent flash is Any changes made to the registry are lost on a reboot What am I still missing? Why is the registry not being stored on the flash? Strangly, if I create a random file/directory in the registry directory, it is still there after a reboot, so even though this directory isn't on the other partition (where I tried to put it), it does appear to be permanent. If it is permanent, why don't registry settings save (ie Ethernet adapter IP addresses?) I'm not using any specific profiles, so I'm at a loss as to what the last step is to make this hive registry a permanent store.

  This is probably a simple mistake, but I could not figure out what was wrong. I basically got a method like this: [ServiceBehavior ( ConcurrencyMode = ConcurrencyMode.Reentrant, InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.PerSession, IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults = true) ] public class Impl : SomeContract { public string Foo() { _CallbackChannel.Blah(); return ""; } } Its interface is decorated: [ServiceContract ( Namespace = "http://MyServiceInterface", SessionMode = SessionMode.Required, CallbackContract = typeof (WcfCallbackContract)) ] public interface SomeContract { [OperationContract] string Foo (); } The service is hosted like this: ServiceHost host = new ServiceHost (typeof (Impl)); var binding = new NetTcpBinding (); var address = new Uri ("net.tcp://localhost:8000/"); host.AddServiceEndpoint ( typeof (SomeContract), binding, address); host.Open (); The client implements the callback interface and calls Foo. Foo runs, calls the callback method and returns. However, the client is still struck in the call to Foo and never returns. The client callback method is never run. I guess I made a design mistake somewhere. If needed, I can post more code. Any help is appreciated.

• SharePoint Webpart and ASP.NET User Control

  I am developing SharePoint Web Parts for MOSS 2007 on Visual Studio 2008. Up until now, I've been adding all my controls by hand to the code behind... but an earlier post suggested I could use the designer to create an ASP.NET User Control, then add it to the webpart, and everything is happy... See figure 5 for an example. However, I can't seem to add a new ASP.NET User Control to my MOSS WebPart project, the template just doesn't appear. If I create a WebApplication and make my User Control in there, I can't see any SharePoint templates to add to the project. Finally, I tried copying a simple aspx file and its code behind to my webpart directly, and adding them as an "existing component"... but now the designer won't recognize the aspx file. Next, I'd probably try adding two projects to my solution, and just referencing any dll's from the ASP.NET application... So how do I get an ASP control into my SharePoint WebPart project so that I can use the Visual Studio designer?
