  Hello, I'm going to implement JSON-PRC web service. I need specifications for this. So far I had found only one resource that can be called as real specifications: JSON-RPC 1.0 http://json-rpc.org/wiki/specification Proposal of JSON-PRC 2.0: http://groups.google.com/group/json-rpc/web/json-rpc-2-0 (why is it on google groups?) However I've seen that JavaScript frameworks like Dojo actively use JSON-RPC SMD Service Mapping Description proposal But it requires JSON Schema specifications, but it redirects to incorrect URL as reference. So far I had found following: http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-zyp-json-schema-02 And it is still draft... Can anybody point me to spome actual specifications... At least something official updated? Because it looks like that implementing JSON-RPC 1.0 and 2.0 would not be enought, at least for frameworks like Dojo. Or am I wrong? Questions: Is it enough to implement JSON-RPC 1.0 specifications and 2.0 draft to be on safe side, would this work for most JSON-RPC clients? If I should implement SMD, or it is recommended can somebody point to official specifications of Json Schema and Service Mapping Description or links I found are really "specifications?" Note: do not suggest existing JSON-RPC service implementations.

• Apple Push Notification-Unable to callback didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken

  I have been simply trying to get deviceToken from my iPhone application using Apple Push Notification Service. I don't have any implementation on server side for the time being. I have created APP Id, got SSL certificate, Provision Profile with APN and calling - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { //view init and add sub view to window [[UIApplication sharedApplication] registerForRemoteNotificationTypes:UIRemoteNotificationTypeAlert | UIRemoteNotificationTypeBadge | UIRemoteNotificationTypeSound]; } method. When I execute the application it pop ups action box to allow Push Notification (means my request for APN registration is working) but my callback is not executed. Neither didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken nor didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError is called? can anybody help me to resolve the issue? • Correct way to import Blueprint's ie.css via DotLess in a Spark view

  I am using the Spark View Engine for ASP.NET MVC2 and trying to use Blueprint CSS. So I'm doing this in my site.less (which gets compiled to site.min.css by Chirpy): @import "screen.css"; #header { #title { .span-10; .column; } } ... Now my site can just reference site.min.css and it includes blueprint's screen.css, which includes my reset. I can also tack on an @import "print.css" after my @import "screen.css" if desired. But now, I'm trying to figure out the best way to bring in the ie.css file to have Blueprint render correctly in IE6 & IE7. In my Spark setup, I have a partial called _Styles.spark that is brought into the Application.spark and is passed a view model that includes the filenames for all stylesheets to include (and an HtmlExtension to get the full path) and they're added using an "each" iterator. <link each="var styleSheet in Model.Styles" href="${Html.Stylesheet(styleSheet)}" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="all"/> Should I simply put this below the above line in my _Styles.spark file? <!--[if lt IE 8]><link rel="stylesheet" href="${Html.Stylesheet("ie.css")}" type="text/css" media="screen, projection"><![endif]--> Will Spark even process it because it's surrounded by a comment?

• "The name 'WithTable' does not exist in the current context" using Fluent NHibernate

  Might be a really easy problem to fix, but it the solution is eluding me! I'm using Fluent NHibernate 1.0 RTM (and using NHibernate bins that ships with it). I'm trying to map my entities and cannot use the WithTable() method. It's not available in Intelligence and VS doesn't suggest any namespaces to reference. • Set margins in a LinearLayout programmatically.

  I'm trying to use Java (not XML) to create a LinearLayout with buttons that fill the screen, and have margins. Doesn't work without it. buttonsView.addView(btn, lp); } ViewGroup.LayoutParams lp = new ViewGroup.LayoutParams(ViewGroup.LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, ViewGroup.LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT); setContentView(buttonsView, lp); So that works fine, but how on earth do you give the buttons margins so there is space between them? I tried using LinearLayout.MarginLayoutParams, but that has no weight member so it's no good. And it doesn't work if you pass it lp in its constructor either. Is this impossible? Because it sure looks it, and it wouldn't be the first Android layout task you can only do in XML.

• How do I use Powershell to print a list of hyperlinks that appear in a Word document?

  I asked this question last week, and my script cannot find any hyperlinks to change. Now I'm backing up and trying to simply open a single document and list the hyperlinks within. I've verified that the document includes hyperlinks to a number of anchors in the same document, and two hyperlinks to documents in the same directory. However, either Powershell isn't finding links in the doc or I'm outputting the list to the console improperly. Here's my bare-bones code $word = New-Object -ComObject Word.Application $doc ="R:\path\Reporting_Emergency_Or_Hazardous_Situation_-_BC_CC.doc" $hyperlinks = @($doc.Hyperlinks) $hyperlinks $word.quit() or, for line 4 Write-Host $hyperlinks or, again for line 4 $hyperlinks | % {Write-Host $_.address} No errors, just blank results. Not even an object reference to the $hyperlinks array. When I modify line 4 to % $address in $hyperlinks { Write-Host $._address } I get the following error...but it's unclear if I'm trying to read a null array? or if the value is blank. • How do I get folder size with Exchange Web Services 2010 Managed API?

  I'm attempting to use EWS 2010 Managed API to get the total size of a user's mailbox. I haven't found a web service method to get this data, so I figured I would try to calculate it. I found one seemingly-applicable question on another site about finding mailbox sizes with EWS 2007, but either I'm not understanding what it's asking me to do, or that method just doesn't work with EWS 2010. Noodling around in the code insight, I was able to write what I thought was a method that would traverse the folder structure recursively and result in a combined total for all folders inside the Inbox: private int traverseChildFoldersForSize(Folder f) { int folderSizeSum = 0; if (f.ChildFolderCount > 0) { foreach (Folder c in f.FindFolders(new FolderView(10000))) { folderSizeSum += traverseChildFoldersForSize(c); } } folderSizeSum += (int)f.ManagedFolderInformation.FolderSize; return folderSizeSum; } (Assumes there aren't more than 10,000 folders inside a given folder. Figure that's a safe bet...) Unfortunately, this doesn't work. I'm initiating the recursion with this code: Folder root = Folder.Bind(svc, WellKnownFolderName.Inbox); int totalSize = traverseChildFoldersForSize(root); But a Null Pointer Exception is thrown, essentially saying that [folder].ManagedFolderInformation is a null object reference. For clarity, I also attempted to just get the size of the root folder: Console.Write(root.ManagedFolderInformation.FolderSize.ToString()); Which threw the same NPE exception, so I know that it's not just that once you get to a certain depth in the directory tree that ManagedFolderInformation doesn't exist. Any ideas on how to get the total size of the user's mailbox? Am I barking up the wrong tree?

• How do you clean Core Data generated models and code from a project?

  I'm having an extremely annoying problem with Core Data in the iPhone SDK. I would say in general Core Data for the most part appears easy to use and nice to implement. I have a sqlite database that is being used as a read only reference to pull data elements out for an iPhone app. It would seem there are really mysterious issues relating to what seems to be migration of the database to the most recent versions of my schema. Why can't you just clean out your stored objects and models and let a project redo all of it when you compile next? You would think if you setup a stored object model there would be a way to just reset it and recompile. I've tried what feels like a thousand 'tips' that have been the results of hours of google searches and documentation prowling to figure out how to do this. My most recent error during compile time is below. 2010-04-07 18:23:51.891 PE[1962:207] * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'Can't merge models with two different entities named 'PElement'' All of this code has been working in the simulator and is only causing me troubles now because I made a change to the schema. • ProgressDialog not working in external AsyncTask

  I'm beginning to think that to get a ProgressDialog to work the AsyncTask has to be an inner class within an Activity class. True? I have an activity the uses a database to manipulate information. If the database is populated all is well. If it is not populated then I need to download information from a website, populate the database, then access the populated database to complete the Views in onCreate. Problem is without some means to determine when the AsyncTask thread has finished populating the database, I get the following Force Close error message: Sorry! The application has stopped unexpectedly. I click on the Force Close button, the background AsyncTask thread continues to work, the database gets populated, and everything works ok. I need to get rid of that error message and need some help on how to do this. • Dealing with "Coder's Block" (or blank form syndrome)

  I know this is the sort of somewhat open-ended question that we're discouraged from asking, but there are lots of open-ended questions around already, and this is something quite relevant to me right now. Do you ever get those times when you're about to start work on a new function/feature of an established system, and you get "coder's block"?. It's like a mental freeze at the sight of a large, completely unpopulated dialog, or an empty code file with just the stub reference headers etc. Do you ever have that 'ulp' moment that seems to sap all your momentum and leave you wide open to distractions (surfing the web for inspiration, checking out 'crackoverflow' etc)? Not that I'd wish it on anyone, but hopefully some of you do, and hopefully some of you can suggest tips or strategies for overcoming the situation, regaining your momentum and becoming productive again. I usually try to reduce what I'm about to do down to absurdly small steps, in the hope that as the job becomes just a series of 'doh' tasks, I'll kickstart myself into working through them. However sometimes, particularly when a deadline is looming, I'll get overwhelmed by this approach as I realise I probably don't have enough time to do all of those tiny steps properly. Those are the darkest moments, (often literally) just before dawn! This situation can be particularly crippling if you mostly work alone, too. Any thoughts or suggestions? Any methods that you found helpful yourself?

  I have trouble finding way to correctly refactor this code so that there would be as little duplicate code as possible, I have a couple of methods like this (pseudocode): public List<Something> parseSomething(Node n){ List<Something> somethings = new ArrayList<Something>(); initialize(); sameCodeInBothClasses(); List<Node> nodes = getChildrenByName(n, "somename"); for(Node n:nodes){ method(); actionA(); somethings.add(new Something(actionB()); } return somethings; } methods sameCodeInBothClasses() are same in all classes but where it differs is what hapens in for loop actionA() and it also adds an element to the List of different type. Should I use Strategy pattern for the different parts inside loop? What about the return value (The type of list differs), should the method return just List<Object> that I would then cast to appropriate type? Should I pass the class I want to return as parameter?

  I am attempting to insert a custom behavior into my service client, following the example here. I appear to be following all of the steps, but I am getting a ConfigurationErrorsException. Is there anyone more experienced than me who can spot what I'm doing wrong? • Instantiating a list of parameterized types, making beter use of Generics and Linq

  I'm hashing a file with one or more hash algorithms. When I tried to parametrize which hash types I want, it got a lot messier than I was hoping. I think I'm missing a chance to make better use of generics or LINQ. • The LoadLibraryA method returns error code 1114 (ERROR_DLL_INIT_FAILED) after more than 1000 cycles

  Hi, I'm programing on C++, I'm using Visual Studio 2008, Windows XP, and I have the following problem: My application, that is a DLL that can be used from Python, loads an external dll, uses the required methods, and then unloads this external Dll. It's working properly, but after more than 1000 cycles the method "LoadLibraryA" returns a NULL reference. The main steps are: HINSTANCE h = NULL; h = LoadLibraryA(dllfile.c_str()); DWORD dw = GetLastError(); The error got is: ERROR_DLL_INIT_FAILED 1114 (0x45A) A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed. The Dll is unloaded by using the following: FreeLibrary(mDLL); mDLL = NULL; Where mDLL is defined like this: HINSTANCE mDLL; First alternative tried: Just load the Dll only once, and unloaded it when the application ends. This fix the problem but introduces a new one. When the application ends, instead of first executing the DllMain method of my applicaion, wich unloads the external DLL, is executing first the DllMain method of the other Dll. This cause the following error because my application is trying to unload a Dll that was unload by itself previously. "Unhandled exception at 0x04a00d07 (DllName.DLL) in Python.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0000006b". Any suggestion will be welcomed. Thanks in advance. Regards.

• ASP.NET MVC 2.0 Validation and ErrorMessages

  I need to set the ErrorMessage property of the DataAnnotation's validation attribute in MVC 2.0. For example I should be able to pass an ID instead of the actual error message for the Model property, for example... [StringLength(2, ErrorMessage = "EmailContentID")] [DataType(DataType.EmailAddress)] public string Email { get; set; } Then use this ID ("EmailContentID") to retrieve some content(error message) from a another service e.g database. Then the error error message is displayed to the user instead of the ID. In order to do this I need to set the DataAnnotation validation attribute’s ErrorMessage property. It seems like a stright forward task by just overriding the DataAnnotationsModelValidatorProvider‘s protected override IEnumerable GetValidators(ModelMetadata metadata, ControllerContext context, IEnumerable attributes) However it is complicated now.... A. MVC DatannotationsModelValidator’s ErrorMessage property is readonly. So I cannot set anything here B. System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotationErrorMessage property(get and set) which is already set in MVC DatannotationsModelValidator so I cannot set it again. • How can I internationalize strings representing C# enum values?

  I've seen many questions and answers about mapping strings to enums and vice-versa, but how can I map a series of localized strings to enums? Should I just create an extension method like this that returns the proper string from a resource file? Is there a way to localize attributes (like "Description") that are used in solutions like this? Which is the preferred solution - extension method or attributes. It seems to me that this isn't the intended purpose of attributes. In fact, now that I think about it, if I were to use an extension method an attribute seems like something I'd use to specify a key in a resource file for the localized string I want to use in place of the enum value. EDIT - example: Given the following enum, public enum TransactionTypes { Cheque = 1, BankTransfer = 2, CreditCard = 3 } I would like a way to map each type to a localized string. I started off with an extension method for the enum that uses a switch statement and strongly typed references to the resource file. However, an extension method for every enum doesn't seem like a great solution. I've started following this to create a custom attribute for each enumerated value. The attribute has a base name and key for the resource file containing localized strings. In the above enum, for example, I have this: ... [EnumResourceAttribute("FinancialTransaction", "Cheque")] Cheque = 1, ... Where "FinanacialTransaction" is the resx file and "Cheque" is the string key. I'm trying to create a utility method to which I could pass any value from any enumeration and have it return the localized string representation of that value, assuming the custom attribute is specified. I just can't figure out how to dynamically access a resource file and a key within it.

• Editing a UITextField inside a UITableViewCell fails

  In my application I have a UITextField inside a UITableViewCell. If I click inside the text field and add some text I find that if try to move the insertion point it works the first time but fails on subsequent attempts. I am completely unable to move the selection; no "magnifying glass" appears. Even more curious, this "setting" seems to be permanent until I restart the application. And it affects all UITextFields on that screen and not just the one that I originally tried to edit. If you want to see it yourself, try the "UICatalog" sample that comes with the iPhone SDK. Click "text fields" and then "edit" and play around with the text boxes. I've done a lot of digging on this but it's pretty hard to Google for! The best references I've found are on Apple's support board and MacRumors formum (both reference a solution that apparently used to work on iPhone 2.0 but does work not with contemporary versions -- I did try). My feeling that is that this is a bug in the OS, but I thought I'd throw this out to the SO crowd for a second opinion and to see if there are any workarounds. Any ideas? Following benzado's suggestion, I tried building my application using the 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 SDKs. I got the same behaviour in all versions. (Actually, something related but not the same broke in 2.2 but that's probably another question!)

• Adding click/double-click events to static group box controls

  Having realised my own reasons were way too dubious, I've now gone about this a different way. But I'm still curious... For reasons of nostalgia, familiarity and laziness, I'm coding a UI with MFC. For dubious reasons (as if those were not enough), I wanted to add a (double-)click event to a group box. Naturally, the group box contains things - in fact, it contains another static item, to which I can successfully add a (double-)click event handler. Is there any reason I cannot get an event handler to work for clicks on my group box the same way I can do that for the simple text static item? No amount of clicking on, in or near the control fires the event. Note - I've read through http://www.codeproject.com/KB/static/staticctrl_tut.aspx and tried responding to both ON_STN_... events and ON_BN_... messages, setting the notify style (BS_NOTIFY appears in the rc file)... and still I'm missing something - what is it? Is it even possible? Most of what I've googled suggests it is... but without clear answers for C++/MFC. Since first posting this question, I've found reference to a WM_NCHITTEST message, and hints that you have to create a handler for this message to override the group box default behaviour of responding with HT_TRANSPARENT... despite having its transparent property in ClassWizard set to false. Hmmm. Can anyone confirm that this is indeed the key?

• How can i handle a form submit using REAL OOP in PHP

  Im used to java and creating UML.. and i was wondering how can PHP be OOP, the objects live only until you make a request.. then they destroy, so if im using a database is useless to create a class and add the members (variables) to the class, they will be useless.. i cant pass the main system object from one page to another, or similar so how can PHP be compare to jave? you never do OOP .. i mean REAL OOP.. not creating classes , in fact your index will be a procedural file with some object instance and then ? how about if i make a html form and i want to submit the data.. i have to call a file which is not a class is a php procedural file were i grab the submited data with POST, from that file you will instance a class and do some logic there.. but for me thats not pure OOP.. can somebody point me to the right way of OOP using a form submit example ? • UIView rotation, modal view lanscape and portrait, parent fails to render

  Hi everyone, I've hit a bit of a roadblock with something that I hope that someone in here can help me out with. I'll describe the 'state of play' first, and then what the issue is, so here goes; I have a series of view controllers that are chained together with a Navigation Controller (this works just fine), All of these view controllers support portrait mode only (by design), In one of the view controllers (the 'end' one actually) the user can click a table cell to pop up a modal view controller (using presentModalViewController(...) of course) This modal view controller supports portrait and landscape modes (and this works), When the user clicks the 'Done' button on this modal view controller we pop and pass control back to the parent view controller, however; If the user is in portrait mode when they click 'Done' then the parent displays itself just fine, If the user is in landscape mode when they click 'Done' then the parent displays a totally white, blank screen (that covers the whole screen). It is as if the controller does not know how to render in landscape and just doesn't bother. I'd like to be able to have this parent view render in portrait no matter what the orientation of the phone is when the user clicks the 'Done' button. Various forum posts suggest using the UIDevice method 'setOrientation' (but this is undocumented and will get our app rejected apparently). Another suggestion was to set the 'statusBarOrientation' to portrait in the 'viewWillAppear' method but that had no effect. So I am a bit stuck! Has any encountered anything like this before? If need be I can provide code, if that will help anyone diagnose the problem for me. Thanks in advance! Cheers, Ben

There are hundreds of thousands of nearby points which to what I can tell, are being indexed by Sphinx, but simply fails silently when searching with Sphinx. • How to use webbrowser control DocumentCompleted event in C# ?

  Before starting writing this question, i was trying to solve following // 1. navigate to page // 2. wait until page is downloaded // 3. read and write some data from/to iframe // 4. submit (post) form The problem was, that if a iframe exists on a web page, DocumentCompleted event would get fired more then once (after each document has been completed). It was highly likely that program would have tried to read data from DOM that was not completed and naturally - fail. But suddenly while writing this question 'What if' monster inspired me, and i fix'ed the problem, that i was trying to solve. • How do I connect to SDF on a Mobile device from desktop application?

  C# WinForms .Net 3.5 to SQL CE 3.5 on Mobile 6.1 Device I'd like to make a connection from a desktop application to a SDF database on my Windows Mobile device while it's connected via ActiveSync. Visual Studio lets me create a Data Connection to my device. The connections tests OK and I can view the data in the database using Visual Studio. I then create a form and try to fill a DataGridView. When I run the program I get an error that the path to the data base is not valid. How am I supposed to specify the Mobile device path in the connection string?
